Congratulations!!! Wish you safe delivery! asikiye: Currently reporting from IAH. Just landed. POE was a breeze although the man wanted to form asking plenty questions. That's my own experience. In the spirit of giving back. Lol. Emirates flight was very ok but also the longest flight I have ever had. From Nigeria to Dubai. Then when we got to Dubai they told us we will get to Boston 1st before houston. I almost cried. In all I give God thanks. |

Yaaaayyy!!!!! Congrats!!! Happy to read about it here!!Wishing you the very best as you count down and safe delivery! oluphilip2008: Good day my wonderful e-family. I ought to have done this at least 3 weeks ago. But for one reason or the other I couldn't write my POE experience on time. But like the common saying goes "better late than never"
So this is the first part of the testimony. I'm earnestly awaiting the second part (d arrival of my LO in less that 3 weeks).
Sorry for the long post and once again sorry for posting late. |

Part 2: Got to the exit point, nah hin the officer sent me for secondary inspection (on top say I no carry food ooo…these CBP Officers are not smiling. Washington POE officers dey form tough one kain). I got to secondary inspection, waited for almost 2hours before they called my name. CBP: Why are you visiting? Me: Childbirth and Vacation CBP: Do you have a hospital yet? Me: Yes I do…was bringing out my hospital correspondence when the guy said I should give him all the documents in the folder so do not put any paper you do not want them to see in your hand luggage...cz you just may be asked for it. He went through all the papers one by one and was asking questions like; where does your husband work? Why isn’t he here with you? Is this your first baby? I see your payslips, how much is it in dollars? I see you notified the Embassy of your travel plans but this isn’t your first time of visiting…well, that’s good. How come the hospital gave you a good rate? It’s pretty expensive to birth there. And your airline allowed you to travel at 34wks...how come? my doctor deemed me fit to fly. Where do you work? How long are you here for? Have you contacted any church or government agency seeking for aid? Sweeties, the questions kept coming but oh Lord, I was fully prepared with evidences and God was indeed on my side. So my confidence level was high. CBP: Why did you choose to birth in the US? Why not UK since you’ve visited UK several times? Or is it because US gives automatic citizenship and UK does not. Me: Not exactly Sir. It is because US has a better health care system compared to where I’m coming from. US is a developed country while my country is still developing. CBP: Oh Madam, do not play games with me…be sincere. You are here for the citizenship… we meet a lot of pregnant women like you and we sure know how to deal with issues like this. So cut the games and tell me the truth. Me: I’m being sincere Sir. I’m here because this is my first baby and I want the best health care I can get anywhere in the world. And you would agree with me that US has the best health care system. Na hin the guy mute…lol Last last he counted my money and then told me the usual conditions: tell the hospital to give you receipt of full payment and bring them with you on your next trip; you are not eligible for any kind of aid. If you do not meet these conditions, you definitely will be here for a very long time the next time you visit! Na hin the guy stamp me in for 6months. I thank am, thank my God and I walked away. I think the guy who interviewed me is from a POE like Chicago cz he mentioned something about Chicago to a lady who stood beside him. To God alone be all the glory. Apologies for the long post…it was a pretty long experience. Abeg if your story no tally or documents are not convincing enough; DO NOT GO THROUGH THIS POE because they sent every pregnant woman for secondary inspection irrespective of where they were coming from and whether you have food or not. Apologies once again for the long post. I hope you've learned something from my experience. I will be keeping you posted on hospital parole. The Journey just began! wish me luck! |

Good evening everyone! Wow finally I have arrived!Arrived US via Washington Dulles POE.Flew Turkish airlines. Flight was good. services weren't bad either. Had a layover of over 10 hours. Meal was provided while i was at the airport. I wanted a room too but they said there was no room available at that momen. Airport is a big and busy one so there was never a dull moment. Thank you so much guys for all the advice and stories shared here…Thanks a lot for all the responses to my questions..God bless you all and may he fill the desires of our hearts...Amen! God indeed directed me here to ensure I have a testimony. I will split my transcript into two parts cz it was quiet a long experience. Here goes my transcript:
Part 1:
CBP: Good morning Ma’am ME: Good morning Sir CBP: Who are you visiting? Me: My Uncle CBP: For what? Me: Childbirth and vacation CBP: Are you traveling alone and are you married? Me: Yes I’m alone (like obviously...) and I’m married CBP: So where is your husband? Why didn’t he come with you? Me: He’s in Nigeria and work wouldn’t permit him to come now; so he would come 2weeks before my edd. CBP: I see you did not bring food? Why? I’m hungry (meanwhile he was eating something that looked like gala)…lol Me: oh sorry, I didn’t know I would meet you hungry, I should have brought food for you...maybe next time CBP: Are you pregnant? And do you plan to birth on this trip? Me: Yes I am pregnant and will deliver my baby on this trip CBP: So why didn’t you say so? You said you were coming to visit your uncle Me: I said so! You asked "who" am I coming to visit and I said my Uncle; then you asked for what and I said Childbirth and vacation (I think he was trying to get at me here to see if I will declare my true intentions cz he was looking suspicious) CBP: Oh sorry Ma’am I didn’t hear that. Me: It’s ok. He also asked how much I had for the trip. I said $10,600…then he screamed “with you right now?”...I said oh no, $4k in cash and the rest on my bank cards. He did a little of typing and then gave me my passport and said; Enjoy your stay Madam. Omo see me rejoicing that I was done! Lol! I was already buzzing Hubby that I have reached and POE was successful. Hubby then said I should check how long i was stamped in for, nah in I kon dey find stamp ooo…I no see.
Hmmm... |

WORD!!! I've got hope! Thank you Nnystc! Very inspiring! Nnystc: Personally, as a woman that God has fought many MIGHTY and impossible battles for over the years, I must tell you this... This is a very small matter before God. He can do it. He will do it.
I remember when i was going through a very very hard time during my banking days... Things were so bad that i dropped weight from about 61kg to about 44kg in 3 weeks without even doing any exercise. There was so much trouble involving EFCC, lots of money and lots of police wahala... |

Congratulations Gloriousmum!!!! Gloriousmum: My POE experience was a breeze. My POE was Houston LRenewed my Visa B1/B2 via drop box in November but travelled for vacation in December for the intended purpose though I was not pregnant as of the time I renewed the visa. I didn't bother to write a change or notification of intend since my visa B1/B2 also covers medical and I have used the visa for vacation in the US. The first officer just asked purpose of travelling and Doctors correspondence. Stamped in my husband and daughter for six months and sent me for secondary inspection for verification of my documents. After hours of waiting, pple were much at the secondary inspection I was called in. The question were also purpose of travelling, doctors correspondence, money I had on me, name of my daughter and we're hubby works. We were about 5 preggie mum's. We were all allowed passage without stress. But all I see is that we were all truthful, sincere and evidence that we have either paid or can pay our bills Goodluck to all the intending mum's and mum's to be |

simplysu: The port health main office by the toll gate does not work weekends. However, the port health in the airport works all day for 24hours. Get to the airport early and get it from there. It takes about 10mins if there's no queue. Ohh kkk!! Thanks! But do you know if this is same for Abuja airport? |

babyokujide: Hello mamas n papas, To the glory of God my LO arrived on 24th of May via CS and rly trying to heal+adjust to surreal vigil. I initially planned to use a birthcenter though I likewise registered @ a hospital cos pregnancy is highly unpredictable! Well to cut 2 d chase, my baby who had been cephalic @ last uss turned breech and water already broke, amniotic fluid was leaking+lo passed meconium.
These American docs sabi work shaa! I had eaten that morning but was given a fluid to drink which won't make me puke. I was terrified of cs(i have never had any surgery in my life b4) though I watch a lot of medical soaps. Thank God for being present as the chief surgeon.
Total bill - $8,840.75c lol (doc, hosp. stay, labour n delivery etc)
I am using the proof of birth from d hospital 2 start documentation as BC takes wks.
I pray that God will bless all expectant moms n dads with ur heart desires; from visa to poe to delivery and even as these children grow they'll radiate the glory of God. Congratulations!!! God bless your LO! Thank God for this testimony and a big Amen to your prayer!!!! |
