Education / See Pictures Of A Chinese Woman Born With Backwards Feet! by adrelanine: 3:13pm On Oct 11, 2014
A woman born with abnormal hands and feet in China has wowed doctors with her progress. Despite being born with feet that face backwards, Wang Fang of Chongqing Province has defied the odds by leading a normal life, according to abcnews.com.

Doctors initially feared that Wang would not be able to walk properly because of her condition. But the waitress, now in her 30s, says she doesn’t even see herself as disabled. Fang even says she can run faster than her friends

“I can run faster than most of my friends and have a regular job as a waitress in the family restaurant. There is no reason to class me as disabled,” she said.

The young lady, who has a son with normal feet, added: “I can walk as well as anyone else and even run faster than them. I’m like everyone else, except of course that I put my shoes on backwards.”

Wang is not the only person to overcome a rare disability and lead a normal life. Brazilian, Claudio Vieira de Oliveira became an inspirational public speaker despite being born with his head upside down. After doctors told his mother he would not survive, Claudio now receives speaking invitations from all over the world.

Business / embattled Linda Ikeji, Laughs Last by adrelanine: 6:28am On Oct 11, 2014
Embattled blogger, Linda Ikeji, is apparently having the last laugh after having received so many ‘bashings’ from fans and foes. Google has eventually restored her site early hours of Friday after it was pulled down few days ago.

Of course, the obviously excited young lady didn’t wait a moment to go on social media to announce the restoration as she tweeted, “And Google restores lindaikeji..com. I hear it’s a record. Normally it takes weeks or months to restore a deleted blog. But not LIB.”

She said same on her newly restored site but added, “The people who took it down knew what to do. You get a number of strikes on blogger and after that it is automatically deleted. It’s automated, programmed to work that way. But the human beings got involved, checked out all the filed complaints, saw they were bogus and restored the Linda Ikeji Blog.”

But even before the site was restored, the blogger received so many ‘bites’ that could last her a life time from followers and “non followers’.

Immediately the news broke, the social media was awash with several readers (who may not really have known the truth about the whole saga) tongue-lashing Linda for a crime they felt had gone on for too long.

Dupe Killa wrote on Twitter, “If I were Linda Ikeji, this is how I may react. Apologise. Restitute. Install improved work ethics. Become anti-plagiarism champion.”

Mark Amaza also wrote through the same platform that, “As a paying customer, you get more rights. Your host can’t delete you without warning. Pay for your website.”

Another twitter user said, “This is why I say is good for beginning bloggers. But don’t sit there for seven years just because you don’t want to pay hosting fees.”

But known as somebody who does not ‘slack’, the young lady had on Thursday, got a new website, lindaikejionline.com. It was on the website that the celebrity blogger had claimed what happened to her blog wasn’t about the alleged plagiarism or copyright infringement but “something deeper, very personal…and maybe even more dangerous.”

Linda, in the article on her blog, said a long time friend whom she knew as “Alex” was the same as Aye Dee,’ the person who had made the copyright infringements complaints to Google before her blog was pulled down.

The chat she posted showed the Aye Dee, apologising to Linda and promising to ‘undo’ what he did by making sure Linda comes out stronger than before

Am gonna keep on quoting you until you learn to have polite conversations with people and accept your faults. You claimed to have quantified my reasoning when you can't even express yourself properly without using abusive words.

Who mentioned anything about competing with you academically? I can see you have a very low self esteem. You can't even spell your username correctly adrenaline so what are we saying. You need serious help because if you continue like this, you will eventually disgrace yourself and your school in a much more bigger way.

While l give kudos to effort of Nigerian Govt, especially Lagos Govt and most importantly, our health workers (special note to ones like Dr. Aedadevo who paid the supreme sacrifice to ensure that it did not get out of hand) l am wondering whether we actually beleive that it was our sheer effort that made us contain this Ebola?

We have been forming superman of recent, about this Ebola and it appears that we are begining to take things for granted.
Okay, l have not seen ANY EFFORT at checkmating ROAD TRAVELLERS which form the bulk of human movement in Nigeria.

Of recent, l observed the sheer number of people who travel on FOOT, MOTORCYCLE and VEHICLES ACROSS COTONOU BORDER without any form of check at all!
Any of those thousands of people on a daily basis could be a carrier!
And we have souch a porous length of borders allover, with neighbouring countries!
shocked shocked
Mind you, it may not manifest until a few hours ir even a day, after crossing over, even if you do the "temperature check" at the border.

My plea is that Nigerians should PLEASE not get complacent. Ebola is REAL, it KILLS and it is MERCILESS.
We still need to avoid (or at least exercise extreme caution) large gathering of people (Mosque, Church, Crusades, Parties, Markets, Schools, Buses, Viewing Centers, e.t.c).

Remember, all it takes is JUST ONE INFECTED CARRIER.....to kill thousands and millions of people .... especially in a crowded location like our cities!
PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE!
...meaning: O'oju la'lakan fi'nsori!

Let us continue to do the test, wash our hands regularly, wear face mask and hand gloves, wear rain coat (thank God its rainy season now), eat ewedu, avoid contact with anyone's bodily fluid (from mucus, tears, urine, saliva, excreta, sneezing, kissing, e.t.c).
Even s.ex, sef, wear condom for now, abeg!

Lastpage!

BTW: I suspect "some" Nigerians might have a higher level of immunity to the virus..... and thatexplains its low level of spread.
Just my thinking. I just hope they would not start kidnapping Nigerians for "blood serum", to develop an antidote! shocked shocked lipsrsealed lipsrsealed
if there is something more than like, I would have clicked on it!! Just to show how intrestin ur post was!

Health / Nigerian Passengers Cancel Us,europe Trips Over Ebola by adrelanine: 4:59am On Oct 09, 2014
The spread of the Ebola Virus Disease to the United States and some European countries has forced many Nigerian travellers to cancel their flights to some of the affected countries.

This is even as health and immigration officials at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos have been ordered to properly screen passengers coming into the country from the affected countries.

The European countries of Spain and Norway have recorded cases of Ebola, with medical workers outside a hospital in Spain protesting over suspected cases of the disease.

Investigation by our correspondent revealed that some passengers billed to travel from Nigeria had been cancelling their flights over renewed fears of the deadly disease.

Mrs. Tope Philips, who was booked to travel on Delta Air flight to the US on Monday, cancelled the booking and opted to go to a Far East country for her vacation.

“Ebola is very deadly and it is better to stay away and prevent it as much as possible. I will go to the Far East, maybe Jordan or Qatar, for my annual vacation and visit the US maybe next year. It is too dicey to take a risk now,” she said.

Another passenger, Mr. Wilson Johnson, a Nigerian based in Ghana, said he had postponed his business trip to the US till December.

“Thank God I am in a position to shelve the meeting. I cannot go now because my wife also called me from Accra, advising me not to go to the US now. They may not be as serious there as the Nigerian government that took charge of the Ebola situation,” Johnson said.

An official of Delta Airlines, who gave her name as Marylyn Thomas, told our correspondent that since Ebola hit the US, some passengers had rescheduled or cancelled their flights.

“It is becoming a serious issue and I think everyone is trying to be careful since the news broke out. Already, some passengers are showing serious concerns and some have gone as far as cancelling or rescheduling their flights,” Thomas said.

Sources at the Aviation ministry and the Port Health Authority told our correspondent on Wednesday that officials had been told to intensify the screening process of people arriving from countries with reported cases of the EVD.

An official of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, who did not want to be quoted, confirmed the development and told our correspondent that it was important not to take chances in the light of current happenings in the United States, Spain and Norway.

“We just have to be careful to prevent any possible spillover since people come in from all parts of the world. We are battle ready to intensify screening and prevent any case in Lagos and Nigeria generally,” he said.

An official of the Port Health Authority, who gave her name as Mrs. Esther Awoyemi, said officials had been kept on alert and that checks had been intensified since the fresh case of the EVD was reported in the US.

She said, “As you are aware, the confirmed patient in US is dead. We have been instructed to take special care, especially with incoming passengers from the affected countries; and now, we are to be cautious of European and US passengers.

“The ministry does not want a reoccurrence of what happened here a few months back; some countries are beginning to look up to us for strategies on how to contain the disease; so, we have to do everything to ensure that we do not have fresh cases.”
