I will only make comment on this issue once.

One thing I will tell you all is to pray against bad people that will disguise as friends in your life and drag you at the slightest opportunity. It's not everyone that's smiling at u that have good intentions towards u, when u r down their true intentions comes out.

This same person I have fixed his inverter for free, something that cost me over 70k (I spent that moni cos of padi padi) and he's claiming warranty on damaged MOSFETs.

I sent you cable twice yet you will say it's not complete. While going back and forth of it's complete and it's not complete, Next thing is you began threatening me on the fone and making foul statement like I can use 500k to fight for 50k, I will go on nairaland to go and ruin your reputation, I will arrange boiz to come and beat you. Who would have thought that someone I can close my eyes and spend 100k on if in distress without thinking twice will come and drag me that cable is not complete, such person will threaten to arrange boiz, such person will threaten to pull down my reputation.
You all better be careful with people that smile with you out there. They envy u in secret, one day their action will tell.
Calling me a thief and all sort of damaging things. He's saying them becos he knows I'm worth way more than all these things he's accusing me of.
Mr Reputation ruiner oya keep ruining.
I will also report this case to necessary authorities how you have threatened my life and peace. Should anything happen to me, they would hold you responsible.
You threatened anytime I come to benin you will arrange boiz to beat me up and all sort of things and also arrange for people to come and attack me in lagos. I will report all these things for posterity sake. Nothing must happen to me, you will be held responsible.

In all your responses, there is only one question I want an answer to. Did you send him shorter cable than he paid for? What did you do to address that problem?

Buyers' Beware.

It is a UPS, not an inverter.

It is 240V nominal voltage. That is 20 x12V batteries.

Charging current of about 4A is abysmally low. It might take 3 days or more of continuous NEPA to fully charge a depleted battery bank. Solar panel is almost mandatory.

Peter Obi has strongly denied accusations that Rufai Oseni supports him because he sponsored the burial of Rufai's late dad.

He said,

Source: Peter Obi

So, where in this lengthy "denial" did Peter Obi categorically say that he did not give Rufai money for his father's burial?

You have good intentions, but you are giving Puvo a dangerous advice. Over 90% of batteries in the market these days are fake. He is better off buying based on recommendation over there in his State or buy from a trusted seller/dealer here in Lagos and have it waybilled to him, than buying a fake battery and having to get it replaced after 6 - 9months.

I will suggest to buy battery locally as much as practicable. For people living in Uyo, it is easier to return failed battery to supplier in Uyo than in Lagos.

If 520ah is roughly equal to 80% then your battery bank capacity is less than 1000Wh. How does it compare to 12 units of 12v/200ah ~= 29KWh bank though?

I have no idea how you are calculating your figures but 520AH at 48V is about 25KWh.

Nice one... but check the bolded again. A typical 30L water heater takes about 15 to 20 minutes to reach the setpoint.

I don't know what boiler you have, but mine takes longer. Maybe it has something to do with the length of the piping involved and concurrent use. The heater supplies 3 rooms and serves 4 people on most mornings with children and wify sometimes letting the hot water run off because they are multitasking.

Bragging Time

The last few days have been very cloudy and raining in Ibadan. So, my solar yield has been poor.

This morning I discovered that I have taken 520AH from my lithium battery bank which is about 80% of my total.

I sat down to do the calculation. 520AH at 48V is like draining 12 200AH 12V lead acid batteries to zero. However, given a 50% DoD, already above what is recommended for Lead Acid batteries, I would have needed a bank of 24 200AH 12v batteries.

And even then my system would have shut down because my pumping machine drawing about 2KW and my water heater drawing about 1.5KW still came on at 4:00AM and 5:00AM respectively. Pump for 25 minutes and heater for 90 minutes. Voltage would have gone down low enough to trip the inverter.

If you are not using lithium batteries, you can not appreciate its resilience.

I exchanged my last Midnite Solar for a Felicity and my last Outback FM80 is doing 12V duty in my office since it appears as if its input capacitor has become too weak for my 48V system at home. I currently have 2 Felicity CC 120A and they are both serving admirably.

Hello, that you've a soft copy of a particular company pricelist doesn't give you audacity to paste such on a public fora!

Isn't this act rather EXTREME and unethical?

What is extreme and unethical is inflating and hiding your profit margin on an enthusiast forum. This place is not a showroom for your goods, it is an open forum where enthusiasts discuss solar power and assist each other in the solar journey. If anyone has the factory price of any good, they should be free to post it. It will help us when we negotiate with vendors as we will know that the "I'm selling with only 2k margin" is a bloody lie.

With your 10KVA Growatt inverter there is almost zero chance of upgrade as it may have appear you may have exceeded your configuration due to your much PV (27 Pcs).

It is best you get an external charge controller or change all your panels to bigger wattage and a simple design this time around in two set wrt the two MPPTs

You can mix the lithium batteries. The BMS makes each battery behave like individual cells and allow them to go at the pace appropriate for them.

Boss are you sure of this?

If he should add two more panels as suggested (making it 2140w), can his 60a CC produce more than 800w for his 12v system?

You are absolutely correct, I didn't think about his voltage. I use 48V and my thoughts were wired along that line. I think he should consider a 24 or 48V inverter. 12V inverter will be problematic in the long run.

Good evening house, please I want to set up a frozen food shop for my wife. So I want to set up a 2kw solar system for her. She will be running only 2 inverter freezers 100w each for maybe 9am to 6pm. The set up will be done in the house and we will extend the wire to the shop in front of the house (Like 60yards distance).

Here are the things I planned for, hope I am on the right track?

1. 535w jinko panel (2)

2. 2ka inverter (don't know which to buy yet) please if you have any suggestions.

3. 60a mppt charge controller

4. 12v 160ah Lifepo4 battery

5. 60yards 10mm² cables

6. AC Spd 275v tomzn and Dc Spd 500v tomzn

Only the two freezers are going to be used. Please, am I on track with the above? If not please advise me anywhere you feel is not okay

I will suggest you add 2 more panels to ensure that both your freezers and the battery are adequately served during the day. The rest are okay as long as your wife doesn't become the centre for everyone to come and charge their phones and rechargeable lamps.

Finally did the test today with "CLAMP METER DT3266F"
Surge: 16.64amp * 230v = 3,827.2w
Continues draw: 8.2amp * 230 = 1,886w

The reduction in consumption is as a result of stronger/better wire used (2.5mm² Comester)

Below is the initial test done in Q1 of this year.
Max Surge = 19amp * 230v = 4,370w
Continues draw = 11amp * 230v = 2,530w

Can you post the picture of the new wire? Thanks.

Pls clarify this statement, I don't understand it, thank you.

Note: 1hp is 750 w. so 1.5hp should be 1,125 w.

That may be show in arithmetic conversion, but measured values are different. As I said above my 1.5HP is 2.1Kw steady.

It depends on the make of the pumping machine. My 1.5hp submersible consumes around 2.2kw steady though that is not a problem for my 5kva inverter but I won't try it in 3.5kva

Same with mine. So, I'm surprised when people said their 1.5HP pump is consuming 1.5KW. Maybe this is related to the depth of the borehole. My borehole is about 100m with another 10m to the tank.

My surge is 4.3Kw while steady is 2.1Kw.

I'm still looking for a way to talk to my 7.5KVA Felicity LF Inverter IVPS7548. Since I bought it, we never talked, we have just been looking and touching which is quiet unusual for my equipment. I need to be able to hear what it is saying without having to go to where it is hanged, I have found some indirect ways of monitoring it, but I still long to be able to communicate with it directly.

Any help is welcome.

Typically a good 3.5kva inverter should be able to accommodate 2x surge, if that is not the case then that inverter isn't good enough. I am also not sure a 1.5hp pump surge should get up to 5kw....I have a feeling yours probably tripped because of battery lvd

Okay. Lets hope someone else comes up with some practical report.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by adrusa: 8:39am On Jun 12, 2023
ojeysky:

Instead use the 3.5kva with maybe 160ah 24v or 48v lifepo4

Irrespective of the amount of battery you have, a 1.5hp submersible pump will shut down your 3.5Kva inverter. I dare anyone to try this and report back to the house. I have tried with a 3KW HF inverter before and it promptly shuts down. The pump initial power surge can get to almost 5kW. A good transformer (LF) based inverter may try, but I will like to see a report.

Which would you oversize, battery bank or PV array?

Please share your reason.

Both if money is not a problem.

Solar panels if there is heavy use during the day.

batteries if you have significant hours of NEPA daily.

Please what is the experience like running a charge controller on the very edge of its capabilities?

Let me explain.

According to the poster immediately above, the max rated power of her charge controller is 3000 watts in a 48 volts setup while the max PV open circuit voltage is 150 volts.

Has anyone run their charge controller at the max rated charge power and max PV open circuit voltage?

Is it recommended? or should I allow for some headroom?

If yes by what factor?

Thanks.

You can exceed the power ratings of Charge controllers, but you won't get more than what the controller is rated for. For instance if you have 10KW panels on a controller rated for 5KW, it won't damage the controller but you won't get more than 5KW output. However, as someone pointed out earlier, what will damage your charge controller is exceeding its rated Voc. That is what you can not exceed.

Hello house.
Please is it advisable to charge inverter battery with NEPA light, or I should just stick to solar source. I will appreciate your honest reply.
Thanks.

NEPA light is the best way to charge batteries. The charge current is even and consistently high. Batteries can enjoy the full phases of charges with NEPA. However, your NEPA credit will be going wella. While it is better to use NEPA, it is more expensive. But using NEPA will not damage your batteries.

Got a 120A Felicity Charge Controller from @justcallmenuel last weekend for a good price. I was a bit crossed with him because he didn't keep up with his promised delivery timelines. He promised he can dispatch same day, but I didn't get the controller until 3-days later and I needed it urgently because one of my CCs just crapped on me without warning.

But, I'm ultimately happy with the purchase. Thank you @justcallmenuel.
