People need to be wary of these reviews. It is important to know how the "samples" were sourced. The reviewers also need to declare any conflicts of interest like free samples, paid reviews and commercial partnership with marketers and companies.

Even big companies like Samsung have been known to game the review systems by supplying reviewers with "supercharged" samples. For example, I think Samsung once had a hidden code that detects benchmarking software and then ramp up CPU and GPU to achieve scores that are not achievable in normal use.

It is not impossible for battery makers/marketers to supply top-grade batteries for reviewers and park their commercial stocks with low performing components.

The best REVIEWS are what users on the field say about the batteries and other components.

2. It probably won't work.
3. If it works and feed back into the grid, you may be supplying electricity to the whole town or worse get someone electrocuted down the line.
4. 3 may not happen because grid tie inverters work with grid, once the grid is down, they also go down.

Finally, it is a very bad idea. Don't do it.

If connected in parallel, you will end up with VOC of the lowest panel and possibly lose some efficiency. If connected in series, you are unlikely to lose much, if anything.

I need assistance with my tubular battery. I just topped up with distilled water for the first time and I notice the battery is now dying faster than usual. I ensured the battery was fully charged before topping the water to prevent overfilling it and I have noticed no spilling since I filled it. For the past three days, the voltage drops to 24.5 once the sun goes down and it was not like this before.

Checking cells voltage is overrated, for me sha.
The only way to know what is happening to your battery pack is to see the voltage of the individual cells. Cell balancing basically tries to equalize the voltages of all the cells. Without the ability to know the individual cell voltage, you will not know whether your pack is balanced or not. Most battery packs will fail because one or two cells are dead or dying.

It is true that HDDs have higher data recovery probability than SSD. However, that is where all the advantage ends. SDDs are faster and have smaller failure rates than HDD. And by the way, a good computer person will tell that if you need to recover data from a failed HDD or SSD, then you are not supposed to stand near any serious data in the first place. A serious computer person will know the rules about data backup. If your data is important to you, you should have multiple backups, onsite and at lest in one offsite location.

Data recovery is now more about forensic or accident investigations. Bottom line: SSDs are far superior to HDD, just like Lithium is far superior to Lead Acid. And like someone pointed out to you, many of us on Team Lithium were once on Lead Acid. I for instance, started my solar journey with Trailer Batteries about 1998/9 before graduating to GEL/AGM and then Tubular before finally joining Lithium train. Nothing will take me back to Lead Acid.

EvS are a terrible reason to defend welded busbars, ev companies don’t want you opening their packs and they also want the pack very secured in case of an accident! Heck, even their CAN communication are not standard and are very proprietary!

In this modern day where the world is going in the ‘right to repair’ direction, companies are still making this kind of product decisions. This is no different that iphone 13 and above requiring replacement parts approved by apple themselves for it to work well, you can’t swap a faulty iPhone part with another one sourced from the same iPhone without an error in the software. Same goes for display, and face id sensors.

Tricky. They can pump in the afternoon to handle the evening usage but the morning one has to be handled entirely by batteries.

Also sumos are tricky, since most draw a lot more than their rated output. For example, this 12HP is about 9kw on paper but in real life could be as much as 15kw.

What I'd tell you is to go there and get actual real life data on

- Power draw on each sumo
- How long it takes to pump full

You need a watt/clamp meter for the first one.
Their best approach is to get appropriate number and sizes of storage tanks and pump water exclusively during the day. Get plenty of solar power and get a little lithium battery to ensure smooth power during the day.

As i write, i am still trouble shooting this. The problem is that for some reason unknown to me it wont connect to the BMS. I used a BLE scanner to retrieve the Mac address. It's a Deriy battry with JK BMS Hardware version - V15A.

One is enough. You should switch only the positive cables. The negative cables can remain permanently connected to the batteries.

1. It is doable.

2. You can get two manual switches and use them to select which battery you want to use at any given time.

3. There are factory made battery isolators and combiners that you may buy which involves merely turning a knob to select a battery. This can be manual (Pictures 1 and 2) or automatic (Pics 3). These are available on Amazon. I don't know if you can get them locally.

4. I used to run something like this when I was transitioning between Lead Acid Batteries and Lithium.

I have a question.

i want to add a second battery to my inverter set up in a way that I can switch between battery 1 and battery 2 at anytime. Both battery will use the same source for charging (same Solar and Grid) and I don't have a problem charging only one battery at a time.

I cant merge because both batteries are different sizes and manufacturers. And I don't want to use two inverters .

Is there a change over switch that can change the battery in use between battery 1 and battery 2, just like NEPA and Generator style?

Is this doable? how do i do this?

The bolded is not true. If you can not face South, face the North if there are no trees or buildings shading your panels. East and West will limit your sunlight exposure mostly to morning and evening respectively. The rest are on point.

It is not, if your roof is facing North for instance you will get very poor production the further North you go because Nigeria is in the Northern hemisphere. For Nigeria the optimal direction is a south facing roof. The next best is west or east facing. West gives you better production in the evening and east better production in the morning. If your roof type is the very steep angled send down the rain type roof and you live in Lagos, your production will be drastically reduced. The ideal angle of your roof is the angle of the latitude of your location. The more your roof deviates from that angle the lower your production. In Lagos the latitude is 6 degrees. If you install solar on a a send down the rain roof in Lagos, you will always struggle to get good production. The further north you go the better it becomes with the same roof angle. This is science.


That’s why the location direction and elevation of the roof matters when giving production figures.

As an example, below is the estimated yearly production of a 10kw system facing south with 45, 15 and 6 degree angles. The highest production is at a 6 degree angle which is the latitude for Lagos. Not much difference between 6 and 15 degrees but once you start moving into steep roof territory it starts to matter significantly.

Something a lot of folks miss when trying to go the renewable energy route is using energy efficient appliances. Converting all appliances to energy efficient ones is as important as getting panels and installing batteries. As you can see, most of my appliances are energy efficient.

Energy management is also an important factor, I make use of smart switches which are automated to turn appliances on and off for different set durations.

My biggest energy consuming appliances for the month of January:
