Please am i doing the right thing? My empathy or my high affinity of always been empathic is clouding my judgment i guess. Am struggling gaving these feeling that am not doing the right or there is something wrong with my approach.
Now here is the story A rider ordered me on taxify only for my to get there and she said there is a little challenge that she will transfer the cash to me first thing on monday morning- i was just surprised and shocked, have driven to ehere she is, my fuel. I just said ok i will take the risk.
Only for us to get to destination and she said i should pleqse wait that i will take her back. Am still waiting for close to an hour now. I just hope these doesnt end up hurting me..
Another story thes lady ordered on taxify only for me to get there and say loads, one bag of rice, some few take away plastics plate, some crate of pepsi etc...as if that was the only load she now said there is another men i was angry- its a short trip 500 naira trip...i was just vexing what kind of riders are these on taxify..i told her normal she is suppose to pay seperate or extra for the load, that is my disgretion we are not suppose to carry much load. She now started as usual the empathic me allowwd it slide, thou at the end she added 400 naira to make the trip 1k. The husband now added 500 naira.. But i know i cant continue like these but am struggling and a little bit confussed if so far have done the right thing..
Please i need advice, positive critic and a spank if need be |

pappy2000: I bought a car for close to a million naira and someone idots will want me to blow ac with five people then still give me 500 naira, I just regret ever stepping into this business, for the unemployed, I am sorry u got no choice but as for me, I will look for other type of business, I carried one olosho yesterday from ikorodu with the very bad road network to a place , she asked for music n ac to the total fare was just 1k, thisis supposed to be a premium service not just for rif raft, it's even. Better to do the yellow taxi than to do this ehailing ride, ithe beauty of it is that I am now a car owner back n I got a very fuel efficient matrix but for me after 5 days in the business of ehailing I will say I am done, I will look for something else to do, I just imagine if I have actually resigned my job face. Ehailing squarely it's just like death penalty , as for the car owners I understand what it's means to being out cash nbuy a good car with the hope of profits, those drivers are failing hell for those who say they make 70k a week at what expense the road network in ikorodu is extremely bad , I made 2k yesterday I don't know how much I will spend of the car today to fix the shocks , it's a crazy world out there , I now understand what the drivers are truly facing if I were just a driver who took a car from an investor some will call me lazy but no I saved up for this but I can always use the car for personal use then most of the people on bolt are ladies I mean the riders and they want premium service at almost no cost , I am done finally with ehailing, You analyzed it well, the area of bad road, maintainance of car, investor expectation to make or recoup there investment and make a profit too, also how riders want premium service for a little amount paid.. If it was a long trip they would have paid more, i guess its because it was a short trip. You see like every business these transport business aka cab service has been commoditised, so you make profit by volume.. Lastly my friend you have option thats why youre not staying long..some people here dont have any other means which you mentioned and i agree, some these is just a transit biz.. Lastly i think geting an education about these biz will be great you know. Get mentors that are in the game to teach you the secret... |

dru23: I think it makes more business sense ..for me personally civics are cheaper for me to get. Also uber/bolt are ever changing.. So am just adapting to the changes.. Instead of me following the crowd up and down buying corolla .. I decided to think outside the box .... With my low landing cost of civics compare to those buying corolla, I should be able to make my money back and also have a fleet of about 14 cars in less than a year.. Hopefully. Whats the landing cost of civic? Whats the engine capacity?whats the second value when you decide to exit( sell it)? In comparison to corrolla.. |

iyaegin: Who advised you to go the way of sakamanje?? That person is just misleading you...you get caught and you are banned forever on one or even both platforms then you are stuck. This work is simply all about being very smart but also prayerful as well as with any business.if you don't put God first you might just be running in vain.so do that first and then play by the rules.speak directly to the right Elders who will never advise saka. let me share some tips for you anyway.
First off people always ask this question of where to position yes most times those work out well but then again there is always the trip you get from the least place you are expecting and yet those trips end up being fruitful.so sometimes it not always about where to position there is always a balance.
I don't know where you stay but in the mornings always target residential areas for people who are going to work now understand that people going to work are aware there is traffic so they plan their trip with that in mind.you cannot for example be looking for a trip to island and be at magodo or Ogudu by 7 or 8am the workers have since left you may now find shop owners etc but you have missed the rush of office n bank workers who will leave between 5 and 6am.
In the evenings Target the major work areas for people who are closing and wanting to go home so you cannot be at Oke Afa or Ogudu or magodo at 5/6pm and expect trips to be falling left right centre (not that you cannot get like I said above) but you are better off being where there will be rush of people looking for rides home.for example Monday- Saturday marina and atimes V.i you will always see surge building from like 5pm till 7pm on Uber I don't do bolt at all so I cannot speak for them so if you are close there just blow away and your ride is sure but you will see one by drivers saying they cannot blow empty from Yaba to marina then they wait hours for trip whereas someone has blown empty and has done 2/3 trips already..
Target Major hotels for between 11am and 12pm because their guests will be checking out at that time .
You have to know trending places that will always have expected high requests at certain times.e.g target major churches that have mid week service because when they are closing your ride request is sure and I guess same goes to major mosques on Friday after prayers too.. Target major events at Eko hotel of course like Falz experience that held recently I cashed out major cos I had a surge trip to ikoyi of 2.8 when the show ended dropped the rider blew back another surge trip within V.I blew back again and a final surge trip of 1.8 to surulere and I closed for the night.
On weeknites certain offices are surge to give you trip now am talking of between 8 and 9pm when the early workers have gone home...In V.i target KPMG during those hours but other drivers are there with you or basically target any bank head office cos the Head office workers most times close late same with those that have head office at Marina..
Friday and the rest of the weekend you really should not have issues with getting rides but same things apply Saturdays target major event centres as people are leaving after their parties same on Sundays and also as churches are closing but really weekend should be easy breezy for you.
Another thing is have observed sometimes don't be scared of doing short trips you will observe the more you are active the more requests come to you. This i have observed a lot whereas when you are waiting you seem to wait forever but once you start moving most times it is back to back from there not all the time but especially like weekends it always happens.
Lastly the airport.now here you already have a counter so you know whether or not it is worth it.for me once am not in the first 10 queue for airport I can never go there to wait and that is also in addition to using flight tracking apps so you know when flights are landing so you are not waiting endlessly for nothing.
Last again cos I just remembered lolz...law enforcement and new laws police lastma taskforce and robbers...AVOID some places at night e.g mile 2 Ago, Eko bridge costain and anywhere you can get stuck in traffic and get robbed.dont park anyhow during the day target fast food joints or approved parking cos anyhow parking na LG taskforce go wan catch you they know 9 out of 10 parked corolla with driver inside n.a. ehail so it's their latest pet project for making money so be kiaful for parking. I think I said enough..i really hope your HP is sensible like you stated and not too high and wish you the best.i don't need to tell you to save you should know already otherwise experience would tell you.you can also monitor your expenses as again your income to see and know if you are maybe overspending e.g your fuel purchase should return 2.5× to 3× on the average otherwise you are not on track. Take Kia.. . Thanks boss these was really helpful |

pope191: Boss your positioning matter as at this time and it is Monday, it takes absolute luck, tough my view. But next time on Monday your must learn to tidy your home coming on time, if you find yourself ard phase one, set ur destination, go to admiralty way and position, but if it is getting to 6/7 no short, jejely b driving thro d alternative route and position anywhere in Vi (You will get a trip to mainland, but Awolowo road is 75% certain). But if you find yourself ard Ajah, you either pick Thomas estate, orchid hotel road or lekki county home and set your destination, but if u join our chevron drive king, just hold mat, some will get trip & some will pass d night dia, it all depend on who d gods choose to bless. But mostly on taxify isolate yourself from drivers. My opinion sha Pleaae the gods should bless us all in chevron drive.. Thanks for these data, u appreciate.. |

pocohantas: I like to think partnership is more about the deed legally binding the partners. It is also errorneous to think that every partner must participate in the work or share in the assets/liabilities of the business.
There are different types of partners, depending on the level of their participation or liability in the business. Well said. I also want to chip these in, the owner of car is the limited partner while the driver is the general partner. Both parties are bringing something to the table. One is bringing a physical or tangible resource (cash, the car) while the other is bringing in an intangible resource(his time, energy, doing the work also applying his intellect- knowing where to position, understanding the movement of the herds ((riders))...etc. Please dont undervalue yourself there is tangible and in tangible asset......also people say cash is king, thats a myth that ahs been debunked, cash is not king cashflow is king...so if youre the one making the cash to flow...hahaha you are valuable my friend. |

izzou: I just want to comment on the bolded from my own opinion..... Please, it's my opinion, so don't crucify me
The question I ask myself is "what exactly is the driver bringing to the table for him to be called a partner in this business?"
If I set up a food canteen: Furnish it with tables, chairs, curtains, tiles, TV, and I employ two ladies to cook and sell, and I tell them that for every plate they sell, I give them #150, will I really call this a partnership? When it is glaring that if anything happens to the shop, they(the two ladies) have nothing to lose?
Look at it from another angle.....
To be truthful to myself, I don't see it as a partner relationship. It's actually an employer-employee relationship
I see uber guys get serious accidents, and I ask myself...."What's the fate of the car owner? " Will the driver fix the car?
Bros, that's how I see this work oh... Na who provide and maintain motor be the oga Hmmmmm!! Ok oo |

adsmaster: Today i want to talk about my observations with car owners(partners)......from interaction with a fee since joining the business these is what i observered
1...they seem to forget that they are partners with the drivers(the owners are limited partners while the drivers are general partners) the limited partners should read up what partnership is all about and re-adjust there mindset- which will lead to number 2 below
2...they come into the game with employer employee philosophy: they address the drivers like they are there staff, hence they call you anytime and expect you to answer, come to see them...you know "the yes sir master sir sydrome"
3...from the get go they are already suspicious, feeling itchee. Here i dont blame them its as a result of the country we find ourself...but what is required of them is to create systems that handle or tackles that....
will contd have a request ...from the get go they are already suspicious, feeling itchee. Here i dont blame them its as a result of the country we find ourself...but what is required of them is to create systems that handle or tackles that.... Macdonalds, KFC and other franchise use system to manage people they should transcend to that thinking pattern or mindset.. 4...they interview drivers with the employer employee mindset...what they should be looking out for is what investors do when looking out for investment partners, what entreprenuers do when looking for co-founders or partners....stop asking questions like are you married? That believe that only married people are trust worthy should be debunked.... have you done these job before is good question but i would go further by adding a system that checkmates the drivers newbie or amateur status.. Then why did you leave the car you were driving before? A good question but also owners should know agreement, business relationship fall apart so it all boils down to systems, processes that manages the partnership... Lastly they should know now that the intellect of folks now coming in droves into these business are different now, most of these guys have got alot upstairs and these uber or taxify hustle might just be a means to an end at the moment.... Just my 2 cent thou! |

Gentlelife50: Lol, na so my brother. To whom sense is given sense is required, I got a car for 25k and I returned the former one immediately.
The man bought the car around January and was insisting on 35 but story now and then he even tried several drivers still same story, wife advised him to reduce remittance fee which he did yet it didn't work.
The effect was that the sweet car was badly abused, his next plan was to even auction the car and have peace of mind according to him. He even so happy when I picked the car because he knew the other car I was using and saw how I cared for the car and still deliver promptly. So the thing is work smart not hard, that's the word on the street. How do we work smart boss? Please give a senerio that basically paints a clear picture of how we can work smart..asides getting a better or cheaper remittance. |

As for Ikoyi, try Dolphin although it's usually flooded. But if you know your way around, you could beat the floods
You'll be fine.. Just make sure you target residential areas at mornings, residential/offices at noon and offices at evenings
if you aren't around offices at evenings, still hang around residential areas. This advice is for workdays oh

Frank0001: Seems we are on the same boat.. just finished mine also.. still don’t know what to expect from them yet.. must say those questions are somehow tricky. Just go the the green light hub at maryland mall, write your email address on a piece of paper then work straight to the first desk you would see, give them the paper and tell them why you came.....one of the attendant have to check on there system with your email address before they will know if you pass or fail.. You cant know, they are the ones to tell you if you pass or fail. As for passing the test incase of those that want to write......your mindset should be to customer centric, answer each question with the motive of protecting the riders......offering good customer service, safety of riders and also protect the interest of uber which is the rider..hope these help |
