I passed this morning and from what I heard from colleagues, inside Portharcourt town is more littered than what I saw on the high way.

Please it's time for action and not blame trading for the pro and opposition parties. For now who ever is in charge should act. Turning PHC into a garbage town is to a very big disadvantage to the ruling PDP from what I saw on ground today being a part time resident of the town during Amaechi's reign before heading out for some tour in the north eastern part of the country. Coming back am very disappointed to be candid.

While most Nigerian cities are experiencing CHANGE, my dear Portharcourt is experiencing uncommon transformation from Garden City to Garbage City since the change in government . I drove from Elele this morning en route Eleme. The whole of East West road from Choba to Eleme looked like Aba to me. The road and the demarcation have been taken over by giant heaps of refuse. This is pathetic as epidemic due to improper hygiene may break out in Portharcourt. The government and their agents on nairaland should act quickly. Here are a few pictures I took while driving.

Am disappointed with what happened in Rivers. No elections but results are announced and those who cheat are celebrating as winners. The most painful aspect is how people come online to defend these criminals who cheat them.

Nobody is saying AK is bad but in combat the AK 47 cannot match the AA because of there various effective killing range. While the AK is about 300 meters, the AA is 2.5 km. The best comparison is like using stone throwing to fight someone armed with the AK 47. Another problem is the use of night vision goggles by the enemy whereas our troops don't. I also agree to an extent on the change of tactics but the problem here is civilian casualties and collateral damage whereby air and artillery bombardment are used to soften the ground before the ground forces move in. Sincerely our officers and men are sacrificing so much in this battle and there are also minor incidences of sabotage by some of their sympathizers amongst our troops.

Nairaland clearly portrays what the selfish political class have turned Nigeria into. It virtually serves as a propaganda machine for hate and division for paid agents of politicians who feel that politics is about divide and rule. What they failed to realise is that law of diminishing returns has come into place. An example is what happened to Gen Buhari and similar thing could also happen even to the president including his vice and most politicians. My advice is that unity topics should trend on nairaland and those that are fond of propagating hate should have such topics removed then subsequently banned. Syria, Iraq, Gaza etc will be a child's play if Nigeria subsequently erupts. A word is enough for the wise so let's start from nairaland.

This is how bad things are getting in our beloved country. I feel terrible because these same weapons would be used to terrorise innocent people, kill our troops and law enforcement officers. The soldiers that made the arrest actually have no business being there from the body language of the authorities. I weep for my country.

Six arrested youths were on community’s errand —MONARCH

PORT HARCOURT—There is a new twist in the case of six suspects arrested by the Joint Task Force, JTF, recently for illegal possession of fire arms. The suspects were handed over to the Police.
But the community has said the youths were sent to recover the arms.
According to the Amayanabo of Ogu, King Nicholas Biobele, the community got wind of an alleged plot by a neighbouring community to invade his community, hence the youths were sent to go in search of the arms being amassed and retrieve same.
He said those arrested were community vigilante, who recovered the arms that would have been used by a neighbouring community to attack his community.
He said they recovered the rifles but were apprehended on their way back by the JTF, adding that those linking Senator George Sekibo and a member of the state House of Assembly, Evans Bipi, to the issue were being unfair. He said that the matter had nothing to do with politics.

My God Imo state is marvellous. The transformation is such that I got lost just because I visited there only on October of 2012. Whosoever that's leading deserves kudos. If that's what APC has for Nigeria then we should start thinking towards them.

Why do some people like to always use tribal and religious sentiments to cover their failures and insincerity. Most supporters of GEJ here just keep mentioning abusive and divisive words to distract the topic. Nothing seems to be working under this man Jonathan. Almost everybody is on strike from university lecturers to medical doctors and very soon speculation has it that the police will also join them. It was heart breaking when I went to the hospital yesterday and nobody could attend to us simply because doctors are on strike. GEJ should sit his ass down and do the job he is elected to do.

Nyesom Wike seems to have forgotten that he is an honourable minister. He acts and talks more like a thug soiling the honourable position he holds. His Abuja masters are not even aware the man is giving them a very bad reputation. For any sensible person those people that attended this function should be invited and questioned by the police as they are threatening the peace of Rivers state. Please tell GEJ about East West road and Portharcourt end of the Enugu - Portharcourt expressway. Rivers people are seeing hell on those roads. Let it be at least one thing that he will do for Rivers state.

Typical lies.In terms of legacy projects, Amaechi has done both more than fashola and akpabio. He met a zero rivers state in all terms and has worked tremendously to put it back on track. I wonder why people forget so soon. If GEJ were to be like Amaechi in terms of doing his job, Nigeria would not be in this mess. Even after unleashing militants and criminal elements on rivers state in the name of fighting Amaechi, little or no success have been achieved to make Rivers insecure by the Jonathan administration.

All this lies and campaign against the person of Rotimi Amaechi must stop. The only non billboard governor in Nigeria. In terms of infrastructures I give him No1 amongst all the governors in Nigeria. All the projects he did as governor in rivers are legacy projects. What the FG is doing is creating disharmony, insecurity and now fake media propaganda against someone who is working for the interest of his people. God will always bless Amaechi for Rivers people and Nigeria in general.

God bless Governor Amaechi for speaking the truth. GEJ is the worst thing that happened to Nigeria and the south south per say. Their has never been so much division and lack of patriotism amongst Nigerians like in this regime. The worst is that GEJ has done nothing in the south south to even get their sympathy. Its still the same old neglect and deprivation that the region is suffering.

The Army is yet to receive theirs too. It usually comes between 23rd to 28th of every month but up till now nothing. I believe their is a problem because thiis is the first time it is happening since the democratic rule.

Thank God you agreed there was a Yardua whether Musa or Shehu all of blessed memory. Anyone who claims ignorant that PDM is the back bone of PDP is just lying to him or herself. This is bad news for GEJ. If indeed its true that the nine governors are with pdm, it puts GEJ and PDP in minority. Like the OP mentioned, PDM is the nucleus of the PDP and nothing functions properly with problems at the epicenter.
