Madam is in town, so all roads within her route are under heavy surveillance and lock. Serious traffic jams are expected but enough men have been deployed to ease the flow of traffic. The hot spots are Aba road between bori camp and gra then between waterlines and gra on the opposite side. Inside GRA too around tombia and woji rd. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Her residence is a no go area for those in old gra. |
Sincerely I feel sad for GEJ, Amaechi has out smarted him in this crisis. GEJ and PEJ are banking on militants together with known criminal elements to fight Amaechi while Amaechi is working with organised labour, civil society groups and masses. From all indications this is a lost battle by the presidency. Sure if they try any stupid thing on Rivers and Amaechi, the igniting fire will consume them. |
After watching Deji 360 tonight, and seeing the drama impeachment, am so ashamed to be a Nigerian. Even coup plotters can do better. We need leadership to move out from these type of miscreants to more enlightened Nigerians. We can actually do better. |
I thought all forms of protest have been banned by the state commissioner of police. How come this was allowed. GEJ and his crew are just too silly and dull, they keep making the wrong moves. Always using thugs and violence, in this case using of organized labor and civil society will give a better political score. They are just making Amaechi more popular by the day. |
This guy actually wanted to assassinate the governor after his orders were refused by the policemen to shoot governor Amaechi. He is actually assuming too much because of the presidential support. He was so lucky that it was the police otherwise all his assumptions and doubts would have been cleared if it were a soldier no matter who's backing him. |
Afam4eva: Is there any pointer to the fact that he was killed or you're just making something up.He was definitely killed because he knows too much. The same reason why Mustapha is still incarcerated. |
cooltone: The aircraft carrying him exploded mid air from eye witness accounts. From recorded aircraft crash investigations, mid air explosions happen because of bomb or rocket attacks. The usual thing is for the aircraft to explode with ground impact. Azazi was marked for death already for exposing the complicity of the ruling party in the Boko haram saga and that was the best opportunity to eliminate him.I have said this before. Thanks for confirming it. Just like the way abiola died in prison, the difference is that azazi died of one mans personal interest while abiola had to die for national interest. |
homesteady: But come oh!! I've heard many people saying -I used to be a fan of Jonathan but the president is so desperate for power. He has forgotten that it is God who gives power. This whole Amaechi saga has convincely proved and cleared some doubts. |
Who killed General Azazi and why? Some will say he died of plane crash but I want to let nairalanders know that most aircrafts explode after going down and any that explodes mid air is under rocket or bomb attack. That was General Azazi's case. |
Another question is why was General Azazi killed. Something still points at one mans greed for power. |
People supporting the anticidents of the presidents boys in there antidemocratic acts are inviting the military back with style . All undemocratic behaiviours like what's happening in rivers state should be condemned by everybody. |
Meaning Dame Patience brother must be Rivers state governor come 2015. We all know that it is the turn of the ogonis to produce the governor and madam at the top wants her brother instead, let's see how it plays out. |
News By JIMITOTA ONOYUME PORT HARCOURT— MINISTER of State for Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike has ruled out zoning in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Rivers State in the next general elections. Wike at a sensitisation programme organised by Grassroots Development Initiative in Elele, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state, also said that he was now the acting leader of the party in the state with the suspension of Governor Chibuike Amaechi. According to him, the decision to throw offices open for contest by all sections of the state would further strengthen internal democracy in the party, adding that it would give room for the party to produce the best candidates for the elections. Continuing, he showered praises on President Goodluck Jonathan, saying that he had done well for the state. Wike said so far, the President had appointed a good number of Rivers sons as chairmen of federal parastatals. On his part, the factional state Chairman of the party, Mr. Felix Obuah, said all efforts he made to reclaim what he termed his stolen mandate were unsuccessful until Wike stepped in. www.vanguardngr.com/2013/06/pdp-wike-rules-out-zoning-in-rivers/ |
The US just acknowledged efforts made by Gov Amaechi to bring peace and security to Rivers state with the entire niger delta. Something that Dame and her husband are working against. Happy the whole world is watching. |
US Assistant Secretary of State visits Amaechi Tweet 1 June 21, 2013 | 12:55 am News PORT HARCOURT — The United States of America Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Conflict and Stabilisation Operations, Mr. Rick Barton, has led a delegation of U.S. diplomats on a courtesy visit to Rivers State governor, Mr Rotimi Amaechi at Government House, Port Harcourt. Also in the delegation were the Director of Africa Operations, Bureau of Conflict and Stabilisation Operations, Mr. Neal Kringel and the Consular-General of the U.S. Consulate in Lagos, Jeffrey Hawkins. Conflict resolution Mr. Barton told Governor Amaechi that they were in the state to find possible ways to assist the state government in any conflict situation. He highlighted the good relations between the United States of America and Nigeria and commended Amaechi for his work in Rivers State and his ability to resolve problems. “Thank you Mr. Governor, it’s a great pleasure to be here with you. We have had the chance to savour your hospitality and enjoy your state in the last 24 hours and it’s been a great pleasure. We’ve had the chance to drive out to the countryside and visit with some of your constituents to get a feeling of what you and your cabinet are doing here in the state to advance the confidence of the public and the state of the cordial life of your citizens. Listening to Rivers people “We are spending as much time as we can listening to the voices of Nigerians (Rivers people), because at the end of the day our respect for you (Amaechi) and for your ability to solve problems is great and we want to help in any way we can but we know that this is your world and we are only here to help as a friend would naturally do.” Amaechi on Niger Delta Governor Amaechi in his response noted that things were improving tremendously in the Niger Delta, adding that foreigners now live in safety in the state and drive around Port Harcourt. He called on the United States to allow their businesses flow back into the state. Amaechi said: “I think that in the course of resolving conflicts, going further to ensure that we also allow businesses from the U.S. and other parts of the world to come back to Port Harcourt because if you can’t create employment, you will certainly not be able to resolve the problem because the problem actually is not of oil alone, it’s of poverty and unemployment and if we don’t as a government create employment and create opportunities for which people can be employed, then we will continue to have crisis in the Niger Delta. “Whether it’s in Niger Delta or it’s in Borno or Yobe, the issue is the same. It’s the issue of unemployment and poverty. I thank you for finding time to come to Port Harcourt.” ….As community elders warn against threat to Gov’s life By EGUFE YAFUGBORHI PORT HARCOURT — AS uneasy calm hangs over the political impasse rocking ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State, elders and chiefs of Ubima, the Ikwerre community, where Governor Rotimi Amaechi hails from have warned against perceived threats to the life of their son. During a council meeting, yesterday at the Community Square, the Ubima leaders of thought under the umbrella of Ogbakor Ubima Consultative Assembly, OUCA, assured the governor of their unalloyed support and prayers while describing his detractors as “jokers.” Chairman of Ogbakor Ubima, Chief Anwuzuruike Daniel, noted that being silent over the issue affecting their son should not embolden outsiders to take the community folks for granted over the unfolding development. Anwuzuruike, who expressed Ubima’s dismay over the way desperate politicians have taken the matter, said: “We are saying that he (Amaechi) should not be afraid. We are solidly behind him. I know God will not take our prayers for granted.” “We are angry because he has done nothing to deserve the persecution by these politicians. We are proud of his achievements in the past six years for Ubima, Ikwerre and Rivers State at large and God will not allow the detractors rubbish his good deeds.” Adding his voice, Elder Sylvester Ehirim, Head of the Elders told those allegedly threatening the governor’s life, “You only know a stray goat has an owner when you harm it.” www.vanguardngr.com/2013/06/us-assistant-secretary-of-state-visits-amaechi/ |
Rotimi Amaechi has 99% support of the ordinary people of Rivers state. The supporters of GEJ, Dame, Wike, Odili etc are those that have direct financial benefit from them. Amaechi has so impacted on the mentality of the people that thuggery, militancy and similar vices are no longer the order of the day. Meanwhile that's what GEJ and his agents have on the table for rivers people and am sure Rivers state pple will not accept that. Dame has been in phc for more than a week meeting with various runaway criminals, inviting them back to come and resume their mayhem on portharcourt streets with federal backing. But one thing fire can do is to consume both the arsonists and unintended targets. A word is enough for the wise. |
Imagine the kind of misplaced priorities we have in Nigeria. Governor Obi is looking for cheap endorsements from those guys. Its better for your works to endorse you than this kind of misplaced priorities. |
Anambra distributes 177 vehicles to traditional rulers Posted by NAN Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State, on Monday in Awka, distributed one SUV each to the traditional rulers of the 177 communities in the state. Obi handed over one of the vehicles’ key to the state Chairman of the Traditional Rulers’ Council, Igwe Alfred Achebe, Obi of Onitsha. He said that the gesture was aimed at helping them run and build better communities, adding that the vehicles would also help the traditional rulers to function effectively. “If you have better communities, you will have a better Anambra, Anambra today is changing for better and I want this sustained,” the governor said. “In doing that, the state government and the local government will do what it can to support the building of a better Anambra.” Achebe said that he was overjoyed because the governor cared about the well-being and welfare of the traditional rulers. “It is completely unprecedented in Anambra and probably elsewhere in Nigeria,” he said. “It is a mighty gesture from the governor and for the government of the state to make a distinct impact on the well-being of the traditional rulers in the state.” According to him, it was one of the several measures the present administration in the state had taken to improve the wellbeing of the traditional rulers. “We pray that God will give us a successor that will continue from where Obi has left and lift Anambra to the next level.” http://telegraphng.com/2013/06/anambra-distributes-177-vehicles-to-traditional-rulers/ |
The house caucus is warming up. PDP is about to commit suicide. The drama is going to be very interesting. Let them hurry and register APC so that the drama would be more interesting. |
Happy birthday to a great man of his generation. May God protect you and remain a blessing to our people and Nigeria in general. |
The Oga at the top has done nothing here. If only he can do the east west road, I think we would be happy with him. The only thing he is doing is to empower criminals and intimidate his perceived opponents with them. |
emmydeep: Why are some nairalanders so gullible? Why do some of us here learned, inteligent and wise allow ourselves to be used by some unproductive elements whose bussines is to always write false articles on nairaland? Why should any1 believe this trash? Where is the source of the above information? It was on television, AIT, RSTV and a host of others. |
Am no supporter of the actions of Mr president in this Amaechi's case. But the fact is that Amaechi has gone down on his knees to beg and the president was sensible enough to let go. The rofo rofo fight was about to destroy the niger delta region once again. Sycophants should leave Amaechi alone because sincerely he has done well in all aspects of governance of Rivers state. Also thanks to GEJ for understanding and letting go. |
Bringing anarchy to Rivers is what GEJ and his cohorts want to do. This might backfire as the gun hidden in your backyard by you will one day be used against you. GEJ should encourage peace and not backing miscreants to cause trouble in a peaceful state. Trouble spills like kerosene, the instability brought to Rivers might escalate into the whole region and the country would have more security challanges just like we are experiencing in the north east. A word is definitely enough for the wise. |
The government is sleeping to their responsibilities but when will they wake up. Time is actually running out. A state of emergency suggested by the poster is long overdue at all the hot spots. Let the politicians in the affected states be pressurised to look for bokoharam and the military full authority to carry out their operations on the group. |
The situation is turning pathetic, the amnesty is not just the solution. GEJ is so lenient on terrorist and there sponsors. I just really miss OBJ. This topic however deserves the front page. |
Real scumbag thats Akpabio. He needs mental evaluation to confirm if he is sane because he seems to forget that he is a public office holder. He is so reckless with taxpayers money as if it is his personal money. In a civillised society this man ought to be removed from office but rather here they are entrusting with more leadership position like chairman of Pdp governors forum. Anyway I don't blame him, he is from a party of clueless fellows like him. |
For the first time in about 10 months, the leader of Jama’atu Ahlil Sunnah Lid da’awati Wal Jihad, better known as Boko Haram, has appeared in a new video, asserting that his sect has not suspended its violent attacks and rejecting dialogue with the Nigerian government. In the nine-minute video that is being circulated in Nigeria, Imam Abubakar Shekau describes as fraud and lies, the dialogue purportedly being undertaken by one Imam Abdulazeez on behalf of Boko Haram. He says there none of his officials is known as Abdulazeez and he doesn’t know the said Abdulazeez. “It is a lie, there is nothing like ceasefire or dialogue going on with government,” he says. “We have never sat in any meeting for dialogue, we have not and it is not true that we are talking with Nigerian government. We don’t know the Imam Abdulazeez, he is not speaking on our behalf like he claimed. He is not one of us, I don’t know him. He further accused the government of continuing to arrest members of Boko Haram, as well as their wives and children, sometimes on the pretext that they are armed robbers. http://oodera.com/2013/03/03/we-have-not-suspended-attacks-boko-haram-leader-imam-shekau/?utm_source=&utm_medium=facebook |
Tinubu is a better leader any day. You judge by the person he handed over power to after his reign as governor. Obj is just a strong man but not a good leader. One thing that confirmed that is handing over power to Yardua and the third term agenda. The reason why Orji Uzo Kalu is also a bad leader. Tinubu is a rare gift to a people and am happy that his people recognise that. |
The ethnic bigotory that involved the NFF and a few Nigerians on the victorious super eagles is what forced Stephen Keshi to resign. Am sure one of the bosses of NFF must have even told Keshi that point blank on the phone for him to take this step. It actually saddens me that we find ourselves in this kind of situation in this country. Keshi may not mention this to the press because he remains a patriot but I pray he is persuaded to change his mind. |
http://www.goal.com/en-ng/news/4687/2013-africa-cup-of-nations/2013/02/11/3744221/nigeria-coach-stephen-keshi-resigns-one-day-after-winning Feb 11, 2013 6:17:00 PM 27The Nigerian coach has submitted his resignation to the Nigerian Football Federation, after a dramatic falling out, and states that he will not change his mindThe Nigerian football fraternity was dealt with a huge blow on Monday evening, when their coach Stephen Keshi announced his resignation from his job as the coach of the national team, just less than 24 hours after he guided the Super Eagles to Afcon glory at the National Stadium. Keshi claims that he was sacked prior to their quarterfinal clash against Ivory Coast, because apparently the Nigerian Football Federation booked a plane back to Nigeria as soon as they found out that they will play Ivory Coast. However, Keshi claimed on Metro FM that he heard about the arrangement made by the NFF after the Mali game, and that he did not want to take it to mind as it would have affected his teams preparations. Keshi’s resignation letter still has to be discussed by the NFF, and the coach says he is unlikely to change his mind, because he believes that NFF did not trust and respect his tactics as a coach. The coach did tell Goal.com a few days before the final, that he would 'pack his bags and leave' if he felt he was not wanted, and it is a surprising turn of events after the coach was highly praised from all quarters. |
Thank God for choice. APC is an alternative available to chase pdp in every move. APC all the way... |
