FamilyGrooming Efforts In Men by AE3(op): 3:58am On Oct 20, 2013
They are the often neglected efforts that keep the ‘endearing’ flames burning in relationships. It is a wrong notion when some men carry on as if the issue of hygiene is the sole responsibility of the female folk-because of what they claim is our anatomy. Fact is, any enclosed space (e.g. the armpit, in between your legs, etc.) is bound to have unfriendly odour, if one does not go the extra mile to care for such places. So the practice of wearing briefs (or boxers) for days unwashed is a big ‘no’. Such should not be worn more than twice!

Why would a man go through the day’s stress at work, come home, have his dinner, put on his sleep wear/boxers (probably unwashed-for days) and go straight to bed, without having a bath or even brushing his teeth? And when his woman joins him in bed, he would want to be kissed, sucked and made love to. When she faces the wall, it becomes that she is denying him his rights; does it occur to some of us that some people still find it difficult to tell a partner that their breath isn’t friendly? Fresh breath and nice body smell is a turn on o!

The one I find unbelievable is that someone would wake up with the ‘almighty unfriendly morning breath’ and turn to the partner for a kiss/love making. I think the habit of freshening one’s breath first will help make things more alluring. Some people that have been married for a good number of years have probably turned a blind eye to these things but these tiny but important practices help sweeten things in the bedroom. I can’t imagine how unappealing  the ‘bed room things’ will be with a man that one would constantly have to deal with his unpleasant breath/ body odour .

Do you know how good it will feel when your woman turns to you for a kiss/hug and she has to linger(and not throw you a quick peck and bear hug because she can’t wait to come up for fresh air) a little longer on your chest because of your sweet scent?Unsightly ‘bump’scenarios immediately help me place a man,as far as personal grooming goes. There are not many men who go the extra mile when it comes to grooming. Some of them see such as a waste of time because it is assumed that the woman has to carry the ‘hygiene basket’ on her head-thanks to her anatomy…very true that the onus is on the woman to go the extra mile but guess what? Going the extra mile (as a man) not only makes you more desirable, it boosts your confidence too. A man’s grooming (not just clean clothes- fresh breath, nice smell, clean nails, neat hair cut etc.) says a lot about him.

I have realised that a lot of men that are called ‘fine boys’ are not necessarily handsome. They have just been able to cross their ‘Ts’ and dot their ‘Is’ in their grooming efforts. You can start by having a bath and brushing your teeth before going to bed every night. Most people don’t even know how offensive their breath is, to those around them- reason to keep making the efforts.

Don’t be unexciting to the woman in your life by letting go of yourself. Women’s taste in men is getting more sophisticated by the day. We now know that ‘beer belly’ is no longer the evidence of good living but evidence of a man-who has let himself go.

CareerWhat’s More Important To Employers: Education Or Experience? by AE3(op): 8:52am On Aug 09, 2013
Take this scenario: Bob and Joe are both applying for the same job. They each interview well, but Bob has 15 years experience and no college degree, and Joe is fresh out of college with no experience. Who gets the job? The answer is: it depends. Here are some factors to consider when it comes to the duel between education and experience.

Career Field

There are some careers where experience trumps education and vice versa. In sales for instance, having a track record of dollars brought into the company will far outweigh any degree. Likewise, in a high-tech field, a recent college degree that consists of studying the latest developments might give you a leg up over the guy with the experience in your field. Vocational fields like construction will value experience over education for obvious reasons. Your chosen career field will dictate how education and experience stack up against each other.

Reputation

Not all experience or education is created equal. A degree from a top school in your field will open doors simply for its reputation; a degree from a college with a lesser reputation won’t help you nearly as much. Did you earn your degree while working full time? That gives you a reputation of being a dedicated hard worker willing to make sacrifices – a reputation that will help you when you sit down to interview for a job.

When it comes to experience, reputation is just as important: simply clocking 40 hours a week for 15 years isn’t going to win you any points. How did you add to the company’s bottom line? Did you innovate, win awards, bring in new business, promote? Reputation matters when it comes to both education and experience.

Company Policy

Let’s say Bob with the 15 years of experience is applying for a job within his company – an internal promotion he’s convinced he’s qualified for. The sad news for Bob is that the job may still go to Joe, fresh out of college with zero experience. Some companies may allow you to substitute experience for a college education, but others have a tougher policy, requiring a college degree, no substitutions. Bob may be the best candidate, but unless he goes to college, he’ll be stuck where he is. Also note that certain industries, like education and healthcare, require education to qualify for necessary certification.

Money, Money, Money

The U.S. Department of Labor reports that over the last few decades, employees with a college degree earn roughly 77 per cent more than those with only a high school diploma, making a strong case for a college education. It also reports a lower unemployment rate for those with a college degree: 4.4 per cent for workers with a bachelor’s degree or higher, versus 10.8 per cent for those with only a high school diploma.

Does this mean you should sign up at the nearest college? Not so fast – college debt is on the rise, with many college graduates struggling to pay their ballooning student loans. The cost of one year of tuition at a private college runs over $29,000 (U.S.), with public college setting you back about $8,600, plus opportunity costs. Consider your career field, the college’s reputation and your finances carefully before committing.

Solutions

So what to do if you lack education or experience? For college grads, interning offers a great opportunity to get that experience and show you’re willing to invest into your career. Likewise, volunteering can give you a resume boost. Look for positions that will give you the experience you need, even if it’s not in your field.

If your résumé lacks in education credits but you can’t commit to a four-year degree, look at taking classes in your field to show that you’re investing in your career and thinking ahead. Technology skills are always in demand, and many colleges offer online classes and certificates.

The Bottom Line

When it comes to experience versus education, there’s no clear winner. If you’re on the hunt for a job, find ways to strengthen the part you’re missing, and you’ll be sure to beat both Bob and Joe.

FamilyLet's Talk Hygiene by AE3(op): 11:40am On Apr 21, 2013
Early education in hygiene is very important. Though discussing this with your children may not be an easy task, these few guidelines should help:

Teach children how to wash their hands: Let them know that hand-washing prevents the spread of infection. Encourage them to wash their hands before eating, after using the toilet, after handling animals, if they are ill or if they are spending time with a newborn baby. Washing is also essential to avoid developing threadworms, which cause itching around genitals.

Discuss daily bathing: Let them know all the places germs like to hide and how best to clean them with soap and water.  Encouraging casual conversation about hygiene will usually create a more comfortable environment.

Discuss dental hygiene: You can demonstrate with toothbrush, paste and dental floss. Better still; invite a dentist over to add a professional touch. The dentist can explain the germs found in the mouth and how they can harm the child. They should be taught where the germs hide and how to get rid of them by brushing and flossing morning and night.

Learn to demonstrate: Demonstrate how colds and bacteria are passed around and teach the children how to avoid spreading germs through food and physical contact.

Be mindful of teenagers:

Pay attention to the changes in your child's body and smells. As they go through puberty, they usually will begin to have a stronger body odour. Discuss this with your child in a private atmosphere as soon as you sense the change. Broaching the subject first will help your child to understand what they are going through. Explain to them that daily bathing is very important. Tell them that people who are engaged in sporting and other physical activities are exposed to bacteria and as a result, they have to shower frequently.

Get deodorants for them: You can decide whether you want to include antiperspirants as well. Tell them to use them every morning, usually after they shower, just as you do.

Don't forget

o To discuss shaving with your children. Teach them how it is done.

o Explain the menstrual cycle to your daughter as early as nine or 10 years. Teach them when to expect it and what to do when it arrives.  Have some feminine hygiene products on hand and explain how often they should be changed.

o Make a point of explaining the anatomical changes a body goes through during puberty.

o Ask your children to consult you if they are feeling ill.  Seek medical attention if you feel it is necessary, and wait until the child is feeling normal before returning them to school.

o Nail biting should be discouraged. A lot of germs live and breed inside nails and when bitten, there is a transfer of these germs to the mouth from where they can get into the digestive tract.

o Let your daughter know that a suitable hair length and style such as a bun, is a very easy way of minimising the risk of lice.

HealthUNIBEN Prof Announces Alleged Cure For HIV/AIDS by AE3(op): 4:51pm On Jan 08, 2013
Benin – Prof. Isaiah Ibeh of the University of Benin, on Tuesday announced the development of a new drug that can allegedly ‘cure’ HIV and AIDS. Ibeh, who is the Dean of the School of Basic Medical Sciences of the university, told reporters in Benin that the herbal drug had undergone “series of successful tests”.

He said “We are at the threshold of making history, in the sense that we seem to have with us something that will permanently take care of what over time seems to have defied all solutions. “We are talking about the latest discovery of an oral drug made from plants extraction in Nigeria for the possible cure of the pandemic, HIV and AIDS virus.’’

According to him, research on the project was started in 2010 and culminated in the development of “Deconcotion X (DX)–Liquid or Bioclean 11 for the cure of HIV and AIDS”. “The existing retroviral drugs are intervention drugs for the management of AIDS but our new discovery is a possible cure.

“We have tried to look at the product first; its toxicological analysis and discovered that it has a large safety margin. “This means that if animals or human beings are exposed to it, they will not suffer any serious harm at all from the exposure. “It also helped us to know the quantity we can conveniently give to animals and will feel secure that nothing untoward will happen.

“We have also done the bacteriological analysis on it, after which we looked at its effect on the virus and the result was quite revealing and refreshing.” Ibeh also said that the drug had been exposed to series of medical examination both in Nigeria and in the USA. He added that the drug had performed well on patients with the HIV virus and had shown evidence of total restoration of damaged tissues.

“The result showed an increase in the body weight of the individual administered with DX. “The body weight was statistically significant when compared with the control group.” He said that further tests were being conducted to determine “at what point will a patient become negative after being administered the drug?”.

“This verification is necessary because it is what is used to measure whether infection is still there or not. So we need to know the siro-convention time. “But preliminary results showed that of the five latest patients orally administered with the drugs, our findings is that up to seven months , three of them were siro negative while two were sill faintly positive.’’ Ibeh appealed for support from the Federal Government and relevant bodies to assist the university with relevant equipment to sustain the research.(NAN)

I don't know if this is the right section for this.
A friend of mine sought my advice on an issue & I've been seriously confused about what to say to her. I asked her to give me some time though.
There's this guy she's been courting. They've been seeing each other for like 11 months now. They love each other deeply.
He lives with his dad for now as he just relocated back to Nigeria. His dad has a ceremony in a few weeks time & he suggested that she comes over a few days before the ceremony so as to help with the preparations; shopping, cooking, putting things in order etc. She said she couldn't because in her culture, what he was asking her to do is normally done by the wives of that household: legally married wives.
Her parents are aware of her relationship with the guy in question & his are too. There hasn't been any formal introduction between the two families though.
She doesn't pass any night at the guy's since he lives with his parents. He also complains bitterly about this. He's saying that since they love each other, it's just a sign that she loves & respects his family. She's totally against it. He claims she's too rigid. They've been fighting consistently for days now due to these things. She's saying she can't be performing the duties of a wife as a girl friend.
For those who understand tradition, what opinions do you have about such things?
PoliticsOshiomhole’s Qualifications: Appeal Court Orders retrial of petition by Edo gov by AE3(op): 12:25pm On Nov 15, 2012
The Court of Appeal in Benin on Thursday morning ordered the Edo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal to retry an application challenging Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s eligibility to contest the July 14, 2012 poll based on his qualifications.

The application filed by PDP’s candidate, Gen. Charles Airhiavbere (retd.), is challenging Oshiomhole’s primary and modern school qualifications.

In his claims, the PDP candidate said Oshiomhole was not eligible to contest the election as a result of his academic qualification, as provided for in the Electoral Act and the 1999 Constitution.

However, on September 27, the tribunal said it had no jurisdiction to adjudicate in the matter.

The tribunal led by Justice Suleiman Ambrusa ruled that the issue of qualification was a pre-election matter.

The tribunal said the petitioner ought to have contested Oshiomhole’s academic qualifications in a court before the election held.

It stated that the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) mandated parties in an election to challenge the academic qualifications of candidates before an election.

The tribunal, which comprised Jusices Ambrusia, Esor Teetito and Danlami Senchi, was dissolved in late October based on a petition by lawyers representing Airhiavbere.

In the petition to the National Judicial Council, the lawyers expressed loss of confidence in the tribunal on the grounds that its members had been compromised.

A new panel was subsequently set up.

The PDP candidate headed to the appeal court, asking it to void the ruling of the tribunal on the governor’s academic qualifications.

there was a pic of a guy with some massive cuts all over his body - when nigerians got hold of the picture - they cooked up a story that the victim was a nigerian woman that cheated on her boyfriend and got chopped with a machete.....

few days later, it was later revealed the victim was actually a man that was mauled by pitbull terriers in one drug neighbourhood in los angeles several years ago!
Whatever the case is, this story isn't 'cooked'. I don't know about the picture though. As I earlier said, I stumbled across the picture & it reminded me of this story.

A certain Barrister went to pick his daughter from school one hot afternoon. En route home, he beheld what he termed disgusting. The Toyota camry ahead of him had two occupants; a little girl (below age six) and the driver of the car. The driver was 'fingering' the little girl and she innocently kept quiet. He drove after them and when the driver drove into a house, he drove in with them. When the occupants of the Camry alighted, he also alighted his car. A woman came out of the house welcoming the little girl: she was obviously the mother of the child. The Barrister gave the insane driver a thunderous slap. The driver wondering what he had done was trying to defend himself. In the process, he received thorough beatings from the man. At the end, the man narrated the occurence to the mother of the child who could do nothing but cry uncontrollably. And guess what, she was a full time house wife. One would wonder what she was doing at home that she couldn't spare a few minutes to go get her baby from school.

Parents, please be careful who watches over your children in your absence..
Career“why I Left My Job At The Bank To Become Dangote’s Truck Driver” – PHD Holder Po by AE3(op): 6:43pm On Nov 11, 2012
Henry Pender is a graduate of Political Science from the University of Ibadan. Pender graduated in 2000 and has worked as a banker, yet he is among the about 100 graduates undergoing training to become truck drivers; or rather logistics assistants. Pender is also the class governor of this first batch of trainees.

“After my service, I had the privilege of being retained at the Rivers State Primary Education Board where I did my primary assignment.

I was with them for about a year before I joined the All States Trust Bank, which is now defunct. I worked with them for three years before I joined the Ecobank, from there I moved to the Oceanic Bank before joining Ecobank again after the acquisition of Oceanic Bank by Ecobank.

“I had to leave the banking industry when I married my colleague, because the human resource policy then did not allow spouses to work in the same office. I felt that my wife should stay behind while I as a man would look around for something to do. It wasn’t easy, because the job was not forthcoming as I thought. I attended a couple of interviews at different places, but I didn’t get what I was looking for.

“When this opportunity of becoming truck driver with Dangote presented itself, I applied with open mind. I felt that this is an opportunity for a new beginning to move into a new paradigm that is not explored. We have just begun the journey in the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT). I was pleasantly surprised when I came here to see people from different backgrounds and professions.

“We are all getting along very well. I am looking forward for an experience that would improve our larger society. Dangote has put something in place that would turn out to be a revolution in the transport industry in this country. I think this programme would eventually become a model that all organisations of international standard would adopt in no distance future.

“From personal point of view, I like driving. I have driven a lot since when I became a professional driver and I like travelling. But by coming here, I have been exposed to the academic side of driving. I feel that whatever I do as a graduate, there should be a level of expected difference from what a layman would do. I think the objective of employing graduates as drivers is for sanity to be restored on our highways. Most of us are victims of the recklessness of heavy truck drivers and this is what this initiative wants to address. We are being trained here to become complete gentlemen as drivers,” Pender said.

He explained that he has, essentially, decided to join the truck driving profession out of interest not for material reward.

“As at the time we had our interview, there was no mention of any material reward. It is now that we are hearing that after a successful driving for a certain period, or covering of certain mileage that one would own a truck or things like that. No such thing was mentioned; there was no mention of special incentives rather than we would be employed and paid salaries.

“What I would say lured me into joining the truck driving profession is the name Dangote that is known locally and internationally. I bet you that if it were some other companies that came up with this initiative, some of us may not be here but the mention of the name Dangote, one would know that there is quality; there is a personality behind it; there is international recognition; that is what lured most of us here beyond any other material gain.

“We only discovered the entrepreneurial incentive of this programme when we came here; when most of us have completed their registration. Being somebody who had the experience of the banking sector, I would quickly join Dangote, because I know I would have job security and we are enjoying ourselves here in the NITT as the pioneer batch of this training programme. I never knew there is an institute like the NITT in Nigeria. We are grateful to them for the knowledge they are impacting in us.

“I want to also use this medium to urge the youth of Nigeria to work hard. We have to make names for ourselves by working hard as it is not all of us who are children of the privileged, therefore we are here as part of our dignity of labour. I would rather stay here and do this work than apply for visa to go abroad and face all kinds of humiliation by washing toilets or driving taxi while I have a similar option here, which I would do with dignity and leave a good example for the upcoming ones,” Pender explained.

BusinessEIU: The 25 African Cities That Matter by AE3(op): 12:57am On Nov 03, 2012
As beyondbrics has reported before, the expansion of emerging market cities is a big deal. Urban dwellers tend to be richer than their rural counterparts, they spend more, and they are easier for companies to reach.

But when it comes to Africa and the growth story, we tend to think in terms of countries. Handily, the Economist Intelligence Unit has got past that, and identified the key 25 cities that you need to know about.

So here they are (with their country and population as well):

EIU: 25 African cities
City. Country. Population (m)
Abidjan. Ivory Coast. 4.0
Abuja. Nigeria. 1.9
Accra. Ghana. 2.3
Addis AbabaEtiopia. 2.9
Alexandria Egypt. 4.4
Algiers Algeria. 2.7
Cairo. Egypt. 10.9
Cape Town South Africa 3.4
Casablanca Morocco. 3.2
Dakar. Senegal. 2.8
Dar es SalaamTanzania. 3.2
Douala. Cameroon. 2.0
Durban. South Africa. 2.8
JohannesburgSouth Africa3.6
Kampala. Uganda. 1.5
Khartoum Sudan. 5.0
Kumasi. Ghana. 1.8
Lagos. Nigeria. 10.2
Luanda. Angola. 4.5
Lusaka. Zambia. 1.4
Maputo. Mozambique. 1.6
Mombasa. Kenya. 0.9
Nairobi. Kenya. 3.4
Tripoli. Libya. 1.1
Tunis. Tunisia. 0.8
Source: EIU, CIA World Factbook

Pratibha Thaker, EIU regional director for Middle East and Africa told beyondbrics that “although it’s the country numbers that grab the headlines, it’s the next level, the city level, which is where the market is. Increasing numbers of companies are looking at cities rather than at a country level.”

It makes sense – as the EIU data show, city dwellers tend to spend roughly twice what people living in rural areas spend. “It’s where people earn and burn their money”, adds Thaker. “It’s something that companies have woken up to a little late, but better late than never”.

Here are some of the nuggets from the EIU data:

City dwellers tend to spend roughly twice what people living in rural areas spend.
30 per cent of Lagos households earn over $10,000 per year, compared to just 17 per cent of households in Johannesburg.
More than two-fifths of the populations of Luanda, Lusaka and Kampala are under the age of 15.
Abidjan is the third most expensive city after Luanda and Johannesburg, with the highest prices for restaurants and hotels
Per capita spending on household maintenance is virtually identical in Cairo and Dakar at just over $100, but per capita spending in Cairo on entertainment ($62) is double that in the Senegalese capital.

Nairaland GeneralSHOCKER: Dead Man Impregnants Mortuary Attendant ??! LMAO!! by AE3(op): 11:21pm On Nov 01, 2012
Thinking that she won’t be caught, a 38 year old woman who works in a funeral home attempted to have sex with a dead man, succeeded and even got pregnant…

The Missouri-based mortuary worker was tasked to bathe the dead man. The dead body had a post mortem erection as bizarre as it may sound, she proceeded to have sex with the dead body. She was surprised when the dead man’s body excreted the fluids that come out during orgasm. Something like a routine medical check-up a few weeks after gave the woman the shock of her life when the doctor said that she’s pregnant. The doctor knew about what happened and the police was informed right away. She’s now charged with the desecration of the dead and necrophilia. She also plans to request for child support from the man’s family.

According to a statement made to police by Marmaduke, the alleged victim experienced a post mortem erectionwhile being bathed.  Being alone, Marmaduke straddled the dead man and proceeded have sex with him.  Much to her surprise, the alleged victim came to orgasm after several minutes.  A few weeks later, Marmaduke had a positive pregnancy test while receiving a routine medical exam.  Upon telling her doctor the circumstances leading to the conception, the police were notified.  Marmaduke was arrested without incident at her dilapidated trailer home a few blocks from the mortuary…

Things are really happening.. As funny as it sounds.. Dead man had an erection… & went ahead to impregnat her.. *Laugh wan kill me oo*

BusinessCan You Be Rich And Miserable? by AE3(op): 7:16pm On Oct 27, 2012
If celebrity culture is teaching us anything, it is that yes, you can have lots of money and still be miserable, so miserable in fact that you ruin your life with addictions, even lose your life to them.

I recently watched an interesting movie on DVD, Meet Bill. Not a masterpiece but certainly entertaining and also thought-provoking. The guy, Bill, married into a rich family.  He works in the family business, lives a life of luxury, and you would think he has a great life – except that his father in law, his brother in law and his wife all disrespect him. He’s bored, unfulfilled, miserable, and desperately wants to make it on his own.

Money Is Important

Money may not guarantee happiness, but I’ll never tell you that money is not important, because I know it is. Money helps us ensure that our basic human needs such as food, shelter and clothing are always met, whether we’re employed or not. When you have money, you don’t need to worry about whether you would be able to provide for your family and you are free to pursue what interests you in terms of occupation and hobbies.

Money buys you peace of mind, and this is priceless. The problem begins when we expect money to buy us happiness. This is a problem, because money doesn’t always guarantee happiness, and in fact there are lots of cases where getting a large amount of money has ruined people’s lives.

What Are Your Expectations?

It’s all about expectations. We all strive to have more money – but what do we expect to achieve through that? If you have a very narrow focus on money as something that frees you from daily worries and enables you to do more with your life, that’s great. But if you view money as the ticket to living “the good life” and being happy, you might find yourself bitterly disappointed.

Rich and Unhappy = Ungrateful?

People who have money but are unhappy sometimes seem ungrateful. When I watched that movie, my first reaction was, “Oh, get over it and start being grateful for what you have!” When I read the tabloids as the supermarket checkout line, I often think that celebrities are just spoiled brats. How can they take everything they have and ruin it all? How can they blow all that money off on luxuries and – worse – on drugs and alcohol – and end up so lonely and miserable?

But they often do, which provides proof, again and again, that indeed money does not buy happiness.

Rich and Miserable Beats Poor and Miserable

Whenever I bring up this subject, my husband smiles and tells me that “It’s better to be rich and miserable than to be poor and miserable,” and I guess he’s right. But while being poor and miserable makes sense to me – after all if you’re poor you have a lot to worry about, being rich and miserable seems almost sinful. If you have the money to free you from the daily struggle to survive, don’t you owe it to yourself to make the most out of your life, and to also give back to your community? Culled from Money Ning
