I agree. If the woman doesn't let her man be a man then why does she need him at all? Of course people should be equal, but not literally equal. We differ by nature emotionally, physically, even intellectually, If you compare women's posts to men's posts here on NL, you'll see how men are different from women.

They are simpler, more realistic, less impulsive in their anger, more down-to-earth, less into details and proving their rights, and more practical. Women on the other hand are very intuitive, warm-hearted (when they are not angry), curious, clever, have high family values, compassionate, etc.

If you kill the best features of any gender, the balance of the relationship is ruined. Making the man take the woman's last name, is like letting him know "you are the woman now!" Traditional values are well encoded in our minds. Just like we don't go out unclothed or don't eat from the floor.

NOTE:: This is exactly why American men are commitment-phobic. Because of women who pump their rights 24/7!
I did noticed the men in America are deathly afraid of commitment.

I am curious! Personally I would as long as the other person felt the same. I wouldn't want to lead them on.

Hmm.  Be careful the broke niggas will call you a feminist in a minute.  You might want to edit your post to agree with them so you won't get attacked.
Lol I am serious. But I think it makes a difference that I was raised in a culture that doesn't practice this, so they will spare me. tongue
RomanceRe: Will You Still Marry Her If She Won't Fully Change Her Last Name -No Hyphenation by african1(f): 1:34am On May 02, 2011
I will never change my last name for anybody. I am sorry, but I am my own person. I tend to stay that way, I don't see no man taking his wife's name, so why I should I take a man's name?
RomanceRe: Question About A Nigerian Guy: ? by african1(f): 1:17am On May 02, 2011
Missy ★ B:
Awww! Quite the opposite in Nigeria.
The mother is the 'drama queen', the hard nut. In most cases, you'd have to 'suck up to her' to gain her approval (especially the boy's mother). The dad may be strict at first but with time, he will relax. But the mother, you most likely can never get it right with her. grin grin
True! I did notice that mother in laws are a bit cranky. I mean the dads are tough, but once you get settled in they become calm. Its not a lot, but I did noticed mother in laws, from the dude's side cranky.
RomanceRe: Question About A Nigerian Guy: ? by african1(f): 8:22pm On May 01, 2011
@ MIssy: We don't really need to worry about the moms, it is the dad that you need to befriend. THe moms are easy they will do things that make you happy, the dads just want someone to torture. Lol tongue

I should of added he asked if it was ok to say I look good, He asked my mom this before he repeated it 3 times within 20 minutes to me. Why would he feel he need permission to compliment me?
African politeness, of course. I don't know much about Nigerians, but in my culture if you want to date a girl without have problems, you have to be best friends with the dad. Usually sucking up to him and the mother work. tongue

RomanceRe: Before You Knew How Babies Were Made: by african1(f): 3:46am On May 01, 2011
This is the story my mom told me, and I believed it.

There is a mom and a dad and they want a baby so much. One night the mother gets up and puts a basket in the front door. That night it rains, and when it is morning the dad goes out and brings the basket inside the house, and there is a brand new baby inside the basket. That is how babies were made.

Lol I feel so gullible.

How come I haven't come across this thread? Anyway people get over your self. For the Somalis, abaayooyin please be nice, don't scoop down like some people. This is Nigerian forum so we have to respect that. For the Nigerians, these girls didn't start the thread, so you should say whatever your saying to them to the person you created this thread. No offense to that person of course. Now stop with all the non sense, it will NOT do you any good, I guarantee it, it might give you a little self steam, but it is not worth it. PEACE N LOVE,

Guys crying is such a turn off for me. I just think they should handle whatever and not cry. However I hope to never do anything to make my guy cry, and if he does, I will just hug him and say its okay. I won't really show my true emotion, I will be super nice. wink
RomanceRe: Please Advice Am In Love With A Moslem And He Has Proposed by african1(f): 4:55am On Apr 28, 2011
It MUSLIM not moslem, gosh it is like a different world. Anyway I think you should consider your values, and your family's values first. If you love him you can marry him of course, but know what you are getting into. Not that I am saying you will be in trouble, because NO matter what anybody says MUSLIM husbands are very awesome. Just make you sure you are prepared first.
