Family / Why Do You Spend More Time In The Toilet?? by Africanbest(m): 8:49am On Jun 15, 2021
This topic should be up for serious discussion because as much as toilets are for relieving ourselves, we tend to spend more time than necessary in there.

As for me:

Toilet is my thinking space, out of all the distractions.

What about you??

Politics / Oby Ezekwesili Encouragement On 2017 Endsars Protest by Africanbest(m): 2:47pm On Oct 14, 2020
On the 5th December 2017, Mrs Oby Ezekwesili took to her Twitter account to advice the Endsars protesters on what to do and how to get their demands heard.
Here is what she tweeted:

Friends, can you all stop being distracted? Your push for overhaul of #SARS has not even begun &you folks are already fighting for who gets the “Credit”. Come on, folks! That’s childish. Who cares? ‍♀️‍♂️. First thing First. Get the Presidency, FG & Police MOVING!!

#CitizensUnited is what gets Government RESPONDING to any matter of #BadGovernance. Learn to ALL WORK TOGETHER for #CommonGood. Sheath your swords folks &FACE your #CommonCause! No need for quarrels on “who started bla bla bla”. “Who jumped on bla bla bla”. UNITE & GET #RESULTS.

Citizens’ Effective Demand for #PublicAccountability & #GoodGovernance is like Building a House. There are diversity of roles required. Whatever your hand finds to do well, GET ON BOARD and do it. Ultimate goal is to #CompleteTheHouse. #YouAllNeedFocus. #CommonGood #CommonCause .

I saw on here, the persistent effort of the handle
@segalink to get the @NGRSenate @HouseNGR
to do something about the @PoliceNG and #SARS. I loved that someone was TAKING SUCH #CitizenAction. Each #DoMore. #JoinForces. #BeAnActiveCitizen. #WayToGo.

So my dear Friends, DON’T FIGTH....... DON’T LOSE MOMENTUM.... KEEP REACHING..... Press on until you achieve the #RootAndBranchPoliceReforms that is mandatory to end those many harrowing personal experiences with the #BadEggs among the @PoliceNG & #SARS.

Whether you like a citizen or despise them, you doubtless share a #CommonCause for a #DecentNigeria. Let that #CommonGood be a matter of #UnityOfPurpose ALWAYS.

The Nigerian Political Class have their OWN #UnityOfPurpose. Tell me what it is, if YOU know✍

Culture / My Problem With Netflix by Africanbest(m): 10:36am On Sep 09, 2020
The foreigners (oyibo people) always have a way of shoving things down our (we Africans) throats, mostly things which are stupid, immoral and senseless. And how do they do it? Through music and movies mostly done by the Netflix community.

Netflix which is one of the most downloaded and streamed app in the world has helped to make gayism and lesbianism to become a normal thing in our eyes and the eyes of our kids and young ones. Recently over 98% of movies in Netflix must have a gay or lesbian character or the movie will be completely about them. After such films has been certified hot by the rating, views and reviews they receive, which will be judged based on continents and country's acceptance, they move to introducing the next abnormal thing.
As if the gay and lesbian characters are not enough, they also made transgender and bisexuality to be seen as normal also. Now the new sexuality they are trying to make normal is Pansexuality.

In this, no one is actually saved from their viewing strategy, not even your kids because they make such available even in cartoons they watch. Remember, a child acts more of what he sees. So exposing them to such at tender age is you helping them build their tender brains to accepting this immorality being fed to them.
The annoying part is that they (Netflix) are also taking away the things that are supposed to be being morals and replacing it with the things of immorality thereby making the abnormal thing seen as normal and normal thing seen as abnormal, that's why in their movies and cartoons they are Anti-religious mostly Anti-christianity, they approve underage drinking and smoking, underage sex, unnecessary violence etc.

so this got me thinking:

How do a child who has been exposed to such from his cartoon age to his adult movies age not get his/her mind structured to what they see.

Family / Benefits Of Covid19 Pandemic by Africanbest(m): 5:38am On Jul 17, 2020
Just like one of my favourite quotes which say: “For every bad thing in life, there are more good things to tip the balance.” -Richelle Mead.

The coronavirus (COVID19 Pandemic) which was initially reported to the WHO on December 31, 2019. On January 30, 2020, WHO declared the COVID19 outbreak a global health emergency. On March 11, 2020, WHO declared COVID19 a global Pandemic and by April 2020, we started closing our businesses and doors in Nigeria.

This COVID19 pandemic has cost so much to so many people, things which include:

The loss of lives

The loss of jobs

The loss of freedom

Psychological breakdown

Poverty etc.

Even as we are awaiting the cure and gradually easing the lockdown, the majority of individuals will continue to see this COVID19 pandemic as more of a disadvantage to them.

I know right now you will be asking yourself, why is my title saying benefits when I am listing the Downsides but stay with me a bit longer and you will find out.

Just like my opening quote, in life, everything bad we go through always has a positive outcome, if we look a bit deeper. And like every other thing in life, COVID19 pandemic also came with its advantages which are as follow:

IMPROVEMENT ON HYGIENE: Before now, the personal hygiene of a normal Nigerian is little or nothing. Like the popular saying “Dirty no dey kill African man”, we believed that nothing is spoilt or damaged, so we tend to live a carefree lifestyle. But since the introduction of the pandemic, Nigerians are now washing their hands regularly, cleaning their environments and avoiding things that put their life at risk (like going out without facemask).

IMPROVEMENT OF HEALTH SECTOR: It’s no news that the health sector in Nigeria has always been in jeopardy, a sector where adequate finance is not disbursed for maintenance or improvements but with the introduction of the pandemic and closure of borders all over the world, our healthcare system is now being looked into and necessary measures which include the 112 isolation and treatment centres are now in place.

Religion / Re: Which Son Are You? by Africanbest(m): 12:40am On Jun 14, 2020
SON "TWO"

The second son who was with the father, serving in his father's vineyard, involving in evangelism, follow up, choir, bible studies, sanitation etc, but his heart was not set on the father whom he is serving, his heart was set at the son who was out of the father's house enjoying life chapter 30. Yes he was serving his father but his heart was not genuine, he was busy serving to get recognition chapter 29, he was serving yet he knew what the unbelievers are doing and how they are enjoying their wealth, he was serving yet he knew that the man who just got a job has moved from a room apartment to a four bedroom flats and he was still in a room, she knew that the lady who just got married was taken to London for vacation by her husband yet she is still single, she knew that the friend who just got admitted is now on sprayed hair and torn jeans with sleaveless hand moving around school but she hasn't gotten admitted, he knew that his friend turns up from parte after parte and he has kept himself clean. This son was serving but his mind wasn't in the service he was rendering, his eyes were set on seeing the enjoyment, the fake smiles and Instagram likes the other sons uploaded, but he never knew the challenges the other son was going through. Because he was in the field working do not mean he was having full understanding of his father's ways. He was with his father (God) but he was not aware of his father's principles, his father says

"DO NOT JUDGE SO YOU WON'T BE JUDGED".

I DID NOT COME FOR THOSE WHO ARE SAVED BUT FOR THE SINNERS".

"A SHEPHERD MUST LOOK FOR HIS ONE SHEEP EVEN WITH HIS 99" .

"THERE IS JOY IN HEAVEN OVER A SINNER WHO REPENTS".

And because he did not understand the ways of his father (God) in whom he was serving, even when time came for him to make a request for his service he asked for little chapter 29. He was serving a father (God) who shared his properties into half and still has much remaining to give to the son who came back (sinner who repents). Yet because of his lack of understanding of his father, he asked for just a young goat for himself and his friends. He was in the service of the provider, the owner of all, the one with the world in His palm, the one with the Governors, Prime ministers, Presidents on his shoulders, Yet when this son asked, out of fear, out of lack of self-confidence and awareness, out of lack of understanding, he asked for little forgetting he owns all things chapter 31.

You might be in the service of God and your heart is still set on the things of the world, it wil onlyl take little things for you to shift from the second son you are now to the first son and you might not get the opportunity to return like the prodigal son.

The one who made you know that the race of Christianity is not an easy one, He was crucified for it, but He is asking you to work in his field and focus on His purpose, do not get distracted by earthly pleasures but the things of God should be your number one priority and at the end "ALL THINGS SHALL BE ADDED UNTO YOU " , Matthew 6:33.

Religion / Which Son Are You? by Africanbest(m): 12:36am On Jun 14, 2020
Luke chapter 15 verse 29 to 31

In this popular parable of the prodigal son, Jesus Christ taught us the story of two christians, both were born into Christianity, they conducted mass, sang in the choir, led prayer welfare and warfare, brokedown the word of God in Sunday school and bible study, but they still had different characteristics.

SON "ONE"

One day, the younger son, the new generation kid, the one who likes trend, discovered that there is another part of the world, a part you don't need to clap hands but twerk your waist, the place you don't need to dress decent but wear whatever, the place where elders do not advise you because they do not see anything wrong in what you are doing, the place you eat and make merry from night till dawn, not a place you preach and pray. So he told himself, enough of this boring life with so much rules and regulations, so much dos and don'ts, it is time to port to the other side where the network is glowing. He went to his father (God), the One who knows the heart of men, the One who understands the situation we are in, the One who sees tomorrow from today and knows the end from our yesterday, he said Luke 15:12 , and without any arguments, without any disturbance, he shared his properties and gave it to the son, he gave him that his dream job, he gave her that husband she has been crying about, that baby she promised to serve him with, that house he has always pray to have, he gave him everything and this everything made him to start giving excuses why he is no longer in his service room. He said, oh I won't be able to come to church today I am working on Sunday. She said her baby always cries during service so she stopped coming so she don't disturb others. Before I take care of my husband the rehearsal time is over. The place I relocated to is very far from the church. We hold lectures on Saturdays so I need Sundays to rest and arrange myself for Monday. And the one who gave you this property is just somewhere far away looking at you chapter 20, waiting for you, praying you don't lose the most important thing (your life) why you are busy chasing earthly things he provided for your comfort and domination. This son took his properties, enjoyed the life the property gave, celebrated with people who are in the same shoes and give bad mouth to people who are still consistent in the service of the father. The son was consumed by the enjoyment that he forgot the father (God) who gave him the properties he was enjoying. And then the famine came chapter 14, the problems came, the husband who is supposed to be a source of joy became a source of pain, the child starts becoming wayward, your boss start taking hit at you making your job to become unsecured and your lecturers said you will never pass his course. All this time your father is far away looking, but because of your ego you say no to him, you say you can do it on your own, you say it is not yet out of hand, and your father is still far away looking and waiting, waiting for you to tag him so he can fight it all for you, but your ego won't let you go back to him.

This son was so stubborn that it took him losing his job. She became a punching bag to her husband. The child joined a cult group and became the source of her sleepless night. The lecturer had his way with her and still failed her. He got HIV AIDS because he refused to let go of womanizing. His organs began to fail him because it has absorbed too much cigarettes and alcohol, chapter 15 and 16. it took him this far before he remember that he has a father who has all the answers and solutions to his problem chapter 17 to 19. And the Bible recorded that after everything, just like in the case of Saul who turned Paul, the son got up and head back home, he answer the call of salvation and was worn a new garment of righteousness and a welcome party was thrown for him chapter 22 to 24 because there is joy in heaven over one man who repent, one man who say enough of this earthly suffering, it is time to set my eyes on the prize of enternity, it is time to forget about the things that seemeth right unto a man and the end is destruction, it's time to pick up my bag and walk home. For the Bible recorded that the father saw him, run to him with a compassion filled heart, threw his arms around him and kiss him passionately chapter 20. And the son continued to remain in the father's house, lived right in the ways of his father and enjoy the benefits of salvation.

So my brethren, most times it takes you coming face to face with the worst situations for you to remember your maker, some people never recover from the situation you are going through and now they are dead without a chance of redemption, but God is patiently waiting from a far place, hoping you will surrender to Him now you are still alive because He is always willing to accept you and place you back on His plans

Don't kid yourself. Even the western world still lays emphasis on classroom learning. The main disadvantage about online learning as the O.P opined is the issue of distraction. Social media e.t.c is the main distraction affecting the kids especially when there is no one to monitor them. The issues faced by some schools now in this 'lockdown' is that the kids want online classes to be free or the get their information from google.
Apart from that, I can't stress the importance of teachers 'body/face language' when teaching in the classroom. It helps the children understand much better and ask on the spot question than what they learn via online where only few can see the teachers.

you spoke well, don't also forget the fact that this is majorly favouring the rich private schools alone. in fact private schools see it as competition now

The challenge is that we want to measure up to the western world but we want (objective though) to stick to ancient methods of education when the people that are moving the world have gone.

Ironic!!!

I think that we should embrace this change if we really want to compete globally and produce globally relevant students.

#My1Cent smiley smiley

if we want to compete with the western world then we should start by eradicating unnecessary subject from the Curriculum in order for children to be career focused from small, not to introduce online learning in this third world country

Like we all know, in this country we have three categories of citizens, we have the rich, the middle class and the poor and due to different factors, money is not evenly distributed within these three categories.

The Rich: this is the category of parents that can provide at least 90% of their children's
school needs.

The middle class: this second stage of parents are those who meet up to at least 50% of their
children's school needs sometimes they are not able to pay for school demands on time.

The poor: these are the category of parents who for the love of education want to send their
children to school, but finance keeps hindering their children from proper school activities. Thereby making them provide little or nothing for the children's school needs.

Apart from these mentioned factors, there are other factors which are as follow:

Finance: Whether we like it or not, money is one of the significant factors when considering a school. Yes, they say cut your coat according to your size, but in terms of educating your child, the best or average is usually every parent's aim. No parents want their child to go to a school (mostly government-owned) where the teachers are not ready to teach or where their child only learn a subject in a whole day, where proper administration and education is not giving out to their child. So in terms of finance, parents do not consider their position in the above categories, all they think is better education for their child and this alone can lead them to schools where they end up owing a term's fee or not paying at all. Apart from school, parents have other essential things like shelter, food and health care to provide for their children, So, a child whose parent has pressing needs will not consider subscribing their phones for their child to learn online as a basic need.

Technology: In a country like ours (Nigeria) where our 4G network still runs like 3G and 5G
the system is even being preached against, castigated and passing through different stages of reading in the Senate House, this should show that our technology is way backwards and in this sense, a large number of children (mostly in government schools) level of education is prone to be limited or not at all educated in terms of technology, so, putting a child in a state of emergency to learn how this online educational process is carried out will affect his/her learning process and not ruling out the possibility of the network fluctuations.

Distraction: A child learning from home presents a different level of entertainment compared to children learning in school. In the case of learning at home with a computer or mobile phone, he/she gets distracted by other features these devices carry. They get distracted by their parents/guardians who need them for errands. They get distracted by the television programs being watched by their elderly ones in the living room. They get distracted by other children playing in their compound. In classes, teachers knowing it's their duty tends to use strict measures to keep the children in-line with the activities for the day. Still, most parents, due to their closeness with their children, will overlook all these distractions, which most times win over the children's online learning.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Meet English Premier League Nike Merlin by Africanbest(m): 10:21am On Jun 17, 2019
The Premier League official Twitter handle just announced the 2019/2020 season ball which was made by Nike and official for just the Premier League. The ball is called MERLIN.

After a record-breaking season of goals, the Premier League will feature a ball like no other in 2019/20.

The Premier League is the only competition across the world where you will be able to see the new Nike Merlin in action.

It is the first bespoke ball of its kind produced solely for England's top flight and coincides with the 20th anniversary of the partnership between Nike and the Premier League.

NEW TECHNOLOGY CAN BOOST GOALS

Last season's ball hit the back of the net a record 1,072 times for a 20-team PL season, and in 2019/20, that number could be even higher thanks to Nike's latest innovations.

The ball comprises just four fuse-welded panels to provide a bigger "sweet spot" for ball striking.

It has heightened visual clarity for players and spectators thanks to the new graphic layout and striking colour combinations.

The Nike "Aerowtrack" grooves on the ball will ensure a more consistent flight, while Urban Grip, an updated version of Nike’s All Conditions Control (ACC) technology, will give enhanced traction whatever the surface or weather.

"We wanted to design a ball that specifically illustrated the traits of Premier League football," said Kieran Ronan, GM, Global Equipment at Nike.

"A ball that felt hyper-technical and precise in nature but also inspired by this English culture of living and breathing Premier League football."

NEW COLOURWAYS

The new Nike Merlin ball is sure to stand out thanks to a pink Nike swoosh and distinctive modular graphic which borrows its look from the world-famous Nike Air footwear ranges.

This modular system also allows the graphic’s colours to be changed, so expect to see different versions of the ball throughout the 2019/20 campaign.

"The Premier League is often described as the most dynamic league in the world and we wanted to create a ball that reflects this," added Ronan.

The 2019/20 Premier League Nike Merlin ball will be available from 4 July on nike.com.

Family / Fathers Day:What Is The Most Embarrassing And Wonderful Experience With Your Dad by Africanbest(m): 5:05am On Jun 16, 2019
As we join the world in celebrating this year father's day, let's reflect back to some moments with our father. The moment he made you so angry and the moment he was just wonder towards you.

Worst Experience: I was young, around 7-9yrs, as we didn't grow up with maids, we started house chores early. this bless day I was still busy playing ball by 5pm I didn't know my Dad was back from work and I haven't washed the plate at home. well the beating I received from him was both with his safety boot and blows like I stole something, that beating turned me into the introvert I am today.

Wonderful Experience: Apart from the fact he always turn up for my needs, all my life I haven't seen him hit my mother, whenever they are both shouting or quarreling, he just takes his key and drive out till the atmosphere cools down. if he can't go out, he simply go to his room and on some music till he sleeps. And that really robed on all of us as his kids, we never beat ladies no matter what they do.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY NAIRALANDERS

The English Championship WINNER Norwich Fc has realized the faith of their team after the English Premier League fixtures came out today.

As many football fans out there would be writing them off, and As some of their fans would not be feeling to well with what they see, knowing that every point matters in the league and starting the beginning right is a moral booster. They coach has got this to say

Daniel Farke says his Norwich City aren't scared by the prospect of taking on European champions Liverpool on the opening weekend of the 2019-20 Premier League season.

City and Liverpool kickstart the season on Friday, August 9 with their match at Anfield kicking off at 8pm live on Sky Sports.

Jurgen Klopp's side finished second behind Manchester City in the top-flight last season and went on to win the Champions League for the sixth time in their history by beating Tottenham Hotspur in the final last month.

Speaking exclusively to canaries.co.uk, Farke said: "It's an exciting game for our supporters and the whole Club.

"We are not naive. We know it's probably the tougest fixture you can get on your first game. They are Champions of Europe so that makes them the best team in Europe, probably the world.

"They have an unbelievable stadium with world-class players and a world-class manager and they'll be desperate to get their party started.

"But we are not scared. We want to play against the best teams. We've worked extremely hard for his opportunity to be competitive against the top teams in the country and we will be greedy to bring our football onto the pitch.

"We worked so hard in the recent months and played over 50 games last season. We don't want to just enjoy the moments against the top teams, we want to reward our supporters with good football and good results. We are focused on the job."

As well as Liverpool, the Canaries face Chelsea and Man City in their opening five games and Farke believes his young side are looking forward to the challenges that await in the early phase of the season.

"I don't want to analyse the fixtures too much. You never know when is the best moment to play each team.

"We have a tough start against some of the best teams in Europe and it's a big task for my young team, but they are greedy to succeed.

"We want to win points against the best and I think we will learn a lot from our first few games."

All eyes would be on the CHAMPIONSHIP WINNER going on against the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WINNER on August 9
