hunee: You guys should write the embassy for your applications. stop being afraid. It is totally unacceptable to await 2 - 3 months for tourist visas, even if you signed anything, you can write them. One of my staff did this yesterday. He's to attend a meeting in two weeks. DHL went to deliver at 4pm today and met the embassy locked. Hopefully they receive it tomorrow. |

Actually looking at getting E visa while the UK Visa is still valid I don't think the e-visa still works. About a year ago I needed to travel for business, so I went to the embassy in Abuja to enquire. The gentleman who attended to me said they no longer issued business visas (not sure if this includes tourism). He however advised that I reached out to my business partners in KSA to speak with the MFA who'd in turn reach out to the embassy in Nigeria to issue me a visa. Alternatively, if I had a visa for the UK, US, Canada or Schengen, I could get visa on arrival. So I had to travel using my Canadian visa. |

When flying to Canada, you do not require airside transit visa. sanyaolurilwan: Update I noticed today: I flew Virgin Atlantic from Lagos this morning, my actual final destination is Saint John, NB Canada, what I noticed is that passengers are flying virgin atlantic, with 3hrs transit without a UK transit visa. 2 people approached me, asking me for directions and told me they were going to Canada when I asked them, they told me they had no UK transit visa. I think this is a new development, or who knows about this before? |

I've seen someone with a similar enquiry here about two years ago, not sure how that was resolved. Here's my observation:- The use of English as captured in the email gives me strong reasons to doubt it's authenticity. Secondly, Embassies' legal counsels have their offices within the Embassy or Consulate, and not at a different address. Moreso, authentication of Government issued documents are done by the issuing authority - in your case, the Ministry of Interior. I'll suggest you find the Embassy's telephone number or authentic emails on the website to verify. racerve: Gurus in the house, I’m hoping someone can help me clarify an odd situation with my wife’s visa application.
I'm an EU citizen currently based in Nigeria, and we're applying for a short-stay visa for my wife.
She submitted the application a couple days ago, and we just received an email from the french consulate asking her to contact the "embassy lawyer" to authenticate our Nigerian marriage certificate (see the attached pics below).
After reaching out to the provided contact, the supposed lawyer has sent an invoice of 350k for authentication.
I'm pretty sure this is a scam, but the original email came from a legit address. Her application status on the TLS website still shows In Progress.
Has anyone received a similar request before? |

If you are certain of this, gather all documents and file a Pre Action Protocol. You'll receive faster response than sending a normal complain. Goodluck. Nysckits: Dear All, please everyone, all of you with a proposed solution.
I am completely at a loss and don’t know what to do anymore.
After thorough investigation, I have discovered that the error was from the UK embassy. I was shown the exact statement sent to Providus Bank for verification, and here is what happened:
I submitted two business accounts (both with Providus Bank) and clearly explained the details of both in my Letter of Explanation (LOE). My main account has over 1,500 pages, while the sub-account has about 38 pages. Due to the large volume of pages, the UK embassy extracted only the first two pages of my main account statement (which included the correct heading, date range, available balance, and all relevant details). However, they mistakenly combined it with the last two pages of my sub-account, which has a significantly lower balance.
The embassy then sent this mismatched document to Providus Bank for verification along with other inquiries. Providus Bank responded accurately based on the information they received. However, the last two pages (from the sub-account) did not contain an account number or balance at the top—it was simply merged with the first two pages from the main account.
One of the key questions from the UK embassy was for Providus Bank to confirm the opening and closing balance of my account. Providus confirmed the opening balance but couldn’t verify the closing balance since it wasn’t from the same account, and they responded accordingly.
I HAVE ALL MY EVIDENCE, INCLUDING THE BANK STATEMENT THE UK EMBASSY SENT TO PROVIDUS BANK FOR CONFIRMATION. I am now stuck in a devastating situation due to an error I did not commit, and the worst part is that I have no way to reach out to the UK embassy for further clarification.
P.S.: I have reconfirmed the exact document I uploaded on the VFS portal, and I am 100% certain about its accuracy.
Please, I need urgent help. |

Here's my simple advice. Go to the bank branch and print out the same statement (exact dates as submitted during your application), have it stamped and signed by the bank. And send a PAP to UKVI. Include both your online generated statement (the same one you used for your application. DON'T CHANGE IT), in addition to the one obtained at the branch. Hopefully an investigation will be launched and the ban lifted. Nysckits: I need urgent advice on what to do at this point.
I am a business owner doing well in Nigeria, but I have never traveled out of the country before.
I submitted my bank statement and other supporting documents to the UK embassy for a visit visa. It seems they contacted my bank (Providus) to verify my statement.
The statement was generated directly from my internet banking platform—it’s a heavy statement with a clear financial track record. Shortly after, my account officer reached out to ask if I had submitted my statement to the embassy, which I confirmed (as seen in the images below).
Despite this, I just received an email from the UK embassy informing me that I submitted a false document and have been banned for 10 years. I am completely in shock because my business account details are 100% accurate, and I have never falsified any document.
Providus Bank never reached out to me for clarification before responding to the UK embassy. My account officer is fully aware of my business, the legitimacy of my transactions, and my financial standing. However, she is extremely slow and does not act promptly.
I have never traveled outside Nigeria before, and I wasn’t even planning to stay long in the UK. My goal was simply to use my passport for the first time and keep my travel history open, knowing that I am financially capable of travelin.
@Jolene, @Davodyguy, and everyone in the house, what can I do to appeal or defend this 10-year ban?
I have already sent a strongly worded email to Providus Bank calling out their unprofessionalism, but I urgently need a solution to this problem. Any advice would be deeply appreciated. |

1. No. Ensure your account statement is physically stamped and signed. You may also consider adding a reference letter from your bank. 2. You don't even need to submit a birth certificate along with your application. 3. Your yellow fever card from Ghana is acceptable. As long as it has a barcode for verification. 4. Your payslip should correspond with your account statement. For Abuja, you need to present 6 months. Furthermore, to be considered for a 2 - 5 years visa, your company should state that you will make multiple trips to the Republic over the next five years. Also make sure to highlight this in your personal introduction letter. rowlandwhy: Hi All,
Please I will travelling to SA next year January, I'm working for an international organization and the SSA headquarters is in South Africa.
They want me to apply for a multiple entry business visa for 2 years to enable me travel in and out without waiting for visa per trip.
I've gathered the required documents, but need clarifications on below:
1. Bank Statement - I only downloaded the stamped and signed pdf version from my bank's internet banking platform, will this be accepted? 2. Birth Certificate - I have a copy of my BC in my flash drive, can i just print it out and add to the application, must i get it certified before it will be accepted? 3. Yellow Fever Card - My yellow fever card was issued in Ghana when I was there, must I have one issued by Nigeria authorities. 4. Payslips - Can I add like 3 months payslips to support my application?
i will submitting the documents via VFS Abuja next week and will appreciate any tips to get successful.
Thanks a lot. |

hunee: The reports in the media space oflate are mostly by fresh guys.
They are talking about tourist and business visas.
Which one do we follow. Abi una no notice ? The official statement is on tourist and business visas. And not everyone is entitled to the five years visa - only business people who they deem qualified. Secondly, I read on another thread and noticed that people are mistaking the non submission of passport as visa free, this assumption is wrong. Nigerians still need to apply for visas to travel to SA, except that they won't be required to submit their passports at the time of applying. Moreover, we have been enjoying this service for nearly three years, so I don't understand why that is being announced now. |
