He recently came out to say it's not just about signing players but getting the right players in. Now how is this the fault of the club when other clubs refuse to sell the manager’s targets like Anthony or the players themselves refuse to make up their minds like FDJ?

The club hasn't been the best in the last decade we get it but this TW context matters. ETH should get part of the blame for the shit show this window too.

Last season we started with Ronaldo, Cavani, Greenwood, Martial, Rashford, Sancho. If Ronaldo leaves that would mean we have swapped Cavani, Greenwood, Ronaldo for Elanga, Chong, Garnacho.

The point I'm making is that regardless of CR's status and Martial we should have identified and signed a striker even if CR didnt ask to leave. The fact we're facing this these issues starting the season is not really unforeseen but its pretty much self inflicted by the club's disastrous preparation for the new season.

We have passed that point of apportioning blame now. Whether it is the club's disastrous planning (nothing new) or ETH's naivety or cash limitations, at this point to salvage something out of nothing we should not sell Ronaldo BEFORE we start looking for a replacement (cos that replacement might never come).

Selling CRonaldo or not is not really the issue though. We've had a disastrous transfer window because the club should not have been in the position in the first place. Imagine putting our faith in Martial or a 38 year old Ronaldo.

The disaster will be worse when we sell Ronaldo and then Martial gets injured and then the transfer window will close while the club negotiates at its trademark snail speed.

It is when the club does not have Martial or 38 yr old Ronaldo but Rashford and 20yr old Elanga that people will calm down.

You people are talking like its so easy for these people to complete transfers. We have been struggling to sell players for months and our difficulty in buying players is well documented as well. A bird in hand is worth 2 in the bush. If the club is smart they should not sell Ronaldo until a replacement has been signed.

I think his point is that messi won't deliver elite goal scoring numbers going forward especially playing in a Mbappe-Neymar/another striker (like the Etikite guy) attack. Messi is getting more withdrawn from the box-18 as he ages hence it makes it unlikely that he will get higher goals tally than a Ronaldo (who plays as a 9 now) as both ages.

It's not about their overall play but more about how realistic it is for Messi to top Ronaldo UCL goals record with his more withdrawn attacking role.

CR7 did not get to his level by leaving things to chance the way you guys are doing.

Messi is 2 years younger and CR7 more than anybody would have started getting the signs that Father Time is tapping him on his shoulder. If he misses this year he might have maybe 1 more year of UCL football and Messi can erase that 15 goal deficit in 2-3 years max.

Trust me Ronaldo is not thinking of Mbappe or Haaland. It is about Messi.
