hatakekakashi: It's unlikely. I'm sure the board themselves are tired of this unending hiring and firing. What they need to do is support him financially.
And team has to be stable first before the academy players can be integrated and fully develope. Garnacho came in yesterday and had little impact. Let's see sha. You don't know how reactionary this board is. if poor results continue (and they will with McFred in midfield) the fans will eventually turn on ETH (it has started already) and once that happens the board will do what it has always done. |

ChristineC: I didn't see him or Savage in the team bus that arrived for the game. given they started preseason ahead of Hannibal and Garner, I suppose it can only mean one thing. no? Savage played Under-21 but Iqbal didn’t. If Iqbal isn’t in the match day squad he must be injured. P.S Both Hannibal and Iqbal are missing along with Laird. Maybe loan is about to be announced? |

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc2: 12:37pm On Aug 07, 2022 |
ChristineC: the few times I have seen that Garner play, and it's not just this preseason, I still haven't seen what the rave reviews are about. I think his will be another case of the beautiful academy bride who'd solely lurk around for far too long because of it and not for his talent. I may be wrong though and willing to give benefit of doubt. Garner has regressed in my opinion but let's see what 1 year under ETH can do for him. His passing is so unimaginative compared to when he was in academy. That's the most disappointing aspect of his game to me cos he was quite good earlier on but i think those loans to make e no spoil for my hand teams have robbed him of his courage on the ball. He should know that he is on the clock. Next gen will soon come knocking. |

TrebleChamp: You wrote it very well Doc.... It is important that the transition is handled well cos it is a critical time. Another important decision is what to do with Iqbal, Savage, Garner, Hannibal. Apart from Savage who might benefit from 1 more year in the reserves in order to develop a bit more physically i don't think there is any benefit to giving them a few minutes here and there. It is either they are loaned out to get regular minutes or they are given the chance to play regularly for the senior team. Benching them and waiting for McFred, Eriksen, VDB, Bruno to get injured will lead to stagnation. |

Oasis007: I think we need to start trusting our young players. Rashford got his chance as a Teen same as Greenwood and McTom.
I'll rather play Iqbal in Midfield than McTom though. I enjoyed him at the Preseason and honestly hope he can even give more in the League.
As for Garnacho, I'll keep him and loan/sell Elanga if I'm the Manager. This might be the way to go. Iqbal has real potential. His long term injury and small size obviously initially worked against him in the academy but it is about 3 years since the injury now and his size is no longer an issue. Even then his academy performance are way better than anything McTom ever served us there. Elanga has an uphill task to climb. Garnacho plays his position and is better. Academy products usually have about 2 years to stake their claim to a position before the next generation comes knocking on the door but Garnacho is not even allowing him his usual 2 years. |

Oasis007:

Seems he's gonna be part of first Team this Season. I hope Iqbal is giving a chance too. I hope he gets regular minutes. The Europa League and League Cup and even 5-10 league starts should be okay. If he seizes the opportunity who knows what could happen. Right from the first week of training the reports were that ETH really liked Iqbal. It will be interesting to see what he decides cos he was our best central midfielder in pre-season but real competition might be different PLUS there are a number of senior players jostling for minutes in his preferred position. |

BlueRayDick: I know the facts of that case and I can tell u it's not a wrong spelling of name that led to the disqualification, it's a totally different name on the certificates that caused the disqualification. That one changed his Surname from Adeyi-Eremienyo to Degi-Eremienyo.
This Oyetola suit is claiming the affidavit signed and doxuments submitted by Adeleke does not Carry Ademola Adeleke but they listed all the names on his certificates and one thing that was consistent is the name Ademola Adeleke..:: though he used different third name at different points From Ifeanyi to Jackson, to Nurudeen.... But Ademola and Adeleke have always been on all his certificates.
I don't see the court sacking him for that, but sha let's wait and see how the court will reason the matter. But why will someone from a privileged background treat his official name like nickname that motor park touts change every year. Changing middle name like an illiterate sef is quite ridiculous especially if you are running for office. |

TrebleChamp: If Elanga is not been considered for a loan, it means the Manager rate him more. The only player i see Garnacho displacing this season is Elanga... Garnacho might be better rated. Playing or loaning a player is not always about rating but about giving a player games in order not to wreck his development. Some players depending on where they are in their development curve might need regular game time rather occasional minutes. Case in point Laird is being considered for loan while AWB might be staying as back up. The manager believes Laird will benefit more from playing games rather than rotting on the bench behind Dalot. He might also think Garnacho will benefit more from regular games time elsewhere than rotting on the bench behind Rashford or Sancho. Nobody that has seen both players will rate Elanga over Garnacho. Argentina called Garnacho to their senior camp at 17 before he had played a single senior club minute. However he MIGHT be at a critical point in his development where playing against grown men weekly is better than sitting on the bench waiting for Rashy and maybe even Sancho to get injured. Not like I agree with the manager sha but I can see what his process is. If I were in charge I would give Laird and Dalot 50/50 game time cos with some many games this season PLUS World Cup in between there should be enough games for both of them. I honestly believe that by the end of the season Laird would have won that competition. Garnacho just turned 18 so I would give him a full Under-23 season while he plays all Europa and League Cup games and makes EPL match day squad about half of the time. You have to remember one last thing. What is best for the player long term might not be what is best for the club right now. It might be better for us this season to keep Garnacho in case of first team injury but better long term for him (and ultimately for us as well) to go on loan and get regular minutes. |

TrebleChamp: Meaning he rate Elanga more, well maybe he see what many of us don't... Haba. How did you understand from that report? Elanga was not mentioned. Una dey extrapolate gan an o. ETH rates Garnacho but he is unsure whether loaning him out or using him as a squad player would be best for his development. Rashford is even the first choice LW not Elanga. |

melodyogonna: It is a risk. The more likely outcome is that they'll crack under that pressure. Man United as a club in general has been under immense pressure for years now, and the fanbase has little patience, and is very toxic.
Not an ideal place to groom kids. They can play in smaller competitions though where the pressure isn't as much as it is in Premier League but that'll mean staying on the bench for long periods. They need game time, they need to play frequently with mature adults ... Under the eyes of thousands of fans but with lower expectations. Incredibly well said. |

patrickmuf: Will you blame the board for that?
Why is didn't a top team sign Haaland last season?
Why is Bellingham still a Dortmund player?
Clubs sell when they want to especially when the terms favor them. Dortmund didn't want to sell Sancho that year and that's the only reason we didn't sign him. Sancho's deal took 1 year. Whether we are to blame Buhari or the board is another debate for another day, however it is not an example of the recruitment team carrying out transfers effectively like you painted because maybe you didn't hear the first 235.97 times......IT TOOK ONE YEAR. |

Btwn, we don't need a recruitment team to pick out Ronaldo, Varane and Sancho for a transfer. An 8 year old kid will easily do that. Sancho deal that took a year. |
