Spy360: Taxes have never been the problem. It's what they do with it that makes people question whatever tax method is used.
Now when you have a reckless government that wastes money on overrated foreign trips, build extravagant and overpriced houses for themselves, move with convoys like trains with a 100 coaches etc, no matter the type of tax law they introduce, it will be resisted.
The other day a governor's wife travelled to Turkey with 20+ other women they say are LG chairmen's wives and this is excluding their personal aides o for some kind of retreat. This is at a time the government is telling the people to endure harsh economic policies. But they are using the funds collected from the public meant for social amenities to lavish abroad I have heard of money miss road before, but this one is argument miss road. The issue was that people came here to criticize the new tax laws. It was not about corruption or government waste or any other irrelevant thing you just listed. You are trying to eat pounded yam and rice in the same plate. Stop it. I was specifically asking clarification on the new tax laws. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by afrodoc2: 2:26am On Oct 17, 2025 |
larride: They have not read a single page of the tax law, they are just parroting the same thing they see their influencers parrot online.
There are even plenty things to use to beat Tinubu led administration especially the nonsensical pardon that was granted days ago but they are dwelling on a tax law that reforms our tax regime, streamlines previous taxes, remove double taxation, even zero rated VAT on basic food items, medical and pharmaceutical products, educational books and materials, electricity, medical services and tuition fees. The VAT on all these are 0%.
There's a reason I kept asking them which part of the new tax law they disagreed with or bad or anti people. Can you please give the figures of the tax to be paid on monthly salaries of 100k, 200k, 500k under the old and new tax systems? |

Segedinho: Maybe the benign thought was it hasn't spread that much If they say it is invasive cancer, then it can't be benign. Benign means non-cancer while malignant means cancer. It has to do with the nature of the cells and has nothing to do with whether it has spread or not. |

Segedinho: Does the very early stage of it still requires partial/total surgery.??
The only thing I know was his lil kid refused to suck from the breast from the very onset n they decided to pressed d milk off only to see a lump after few months of weaning If it is invasive cancer there will be surgery, and the extent of surgery depends on the extent of the cancer. It might be a lumpectomy in which only the lump and surrounding tissue are cut off. It might also be a partial mastectomy which removes much of the breast or a total mastectomy whereby the whole breast and most likely the lymph nodes in the armpit are removed. Apart from surgery there might be additional treatment like radiotherapy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, based on the cancer's features. |

GloriousGbola: Start crowdfunding - but if you do, a third party must oversee and manage the money. often when money is crowdfunded in matters like this it is often more money than the recipients have ever seen and funny things can happen. so it is better that from day one all monies are transparently paid directly to a known party and disbursed as necessary.
at this point one is just hoping. If they said it is invasive breast cancer that hope that it is benign is gone. The hope now is that it has not spread. |

Any advice @Afrodoc and co They should keep to the UBTH appointment next week. More tests likely need to be carried to better stage the cancer. There are different levels of invasive cancer. |

BlueRayDick: Doc what do you think about the rumour and speculations that Wale Edun may have suffered stroke ? In medical practice, are there evidences of people surviving stroke and Coming back to work in offices as stressful as that of a country's finance minister or even CFO of a company?
I thought the whole thing was a rumor but this one that Sunday Dare yesterday was claiming " I just got off phone with him..... I discussed with him over a plate of Amala....etc " is looking exactly like the COAS Lagbaja's case.
That was how it was rumored the COAS was sick around October only for the chief of defence staff to claim he was hale and hearty and that he spoke with him on phone same October. Fast forward to November the man's demise was announced. Everything is possible when it comes to stroke. It depends on what area of the brain was affected and what functions it carries out, what portion of that area was affected, how bad the initial stroke was, how soon the medical intervention was started, the quality of medical intervention, the person's constitution, the will of Fenibeso and/or good old luck. Sunday Dare's statement is not unexpected. The man holds a sensitive position, and sometimes white lies are needed to prevent instability while a long-term solution is being sought. Ditto the case of COAS. |

larride: As long as we avoid 3-2, 4-3 or even 2-1, we qualify straight.
If we win 1-0, we qualify straight with better H2H if SA no win.
If we win 2-1, we are tied, we both currently have 12 goals scored and 5 conceded and have 13 yellow together also. I don't know what else they will use as a tie breaker
If we win 3-2, Benin Qualifies if SA no win
If we win 4-3, Benin qualifies if SA no win. We currently have 11 GF and 8 GA. Benin has 12 GF and 8 GA. If we win them 1-0, we will both have 17 points. Furthermore: We will both then have 3 points H2H. We will both have GD 0 in H2H games. We will both have 2 GF in H2H games. Then will both have GD of 4 in group games and GF of 12 in group games. We will be tied in all the H2H criteria and in the general group criteria. You can input any single goal victory for us into this calculation, and it remains the same, even in all H2H criteria and all group criteria. It does not matter if it is 2-1 or 100-99. We need to win by 2 goals and hope SA drops points in order to win the group. |

semid4lyfe: Doc,
My toddler started school last month. This is the 5th week. He's currently has catarrh (which I assume is due to the change of environment, and interaction with other kids). He's active, not running temperature, and is eating okay.
My wife wanted to give catarrh syrup but I insisted she shouldn't that the catarrh will run its course, and go on its own, and it'd help build his immune system. So we resorted to home remedy mixture of honey and lime, which we give 5mls morning and night.
The catarrh has lingered for about a week now. Wetin you advise make we do? and secondly, how does one mitigate the risk of school germs and infections in toddlers?
Additional info - Age is 1 year & 8 months. He was dewormed a month before he began school, preventively treated for malaria and his immunization record is up to date. You are doing the right thing. 1 week is not abnormal. Some will have it for 2-4 weeks, sometimes becomes of reinfection. Minimizing risk of school germs amongst toddlers is like trying to capture smoke. Hand hygiene, good ventilation, up to date immunization, good hydration and nutrition, adequate rest and leave the rest to Fenibeso. Oh, and teach them sneezing and coughing etiquette |

Ibime: How about Ibuprofen boss? I take it daily before any workout due to lack of meniscus in my right knee from an old football injury It is an NSAID as well. Daily use increases risk of renal impairment. Away from that, taking Ibuprofen before exercise might increase further injury risk. If you absolutely have to do it, take the lowest dose possible, and preferably wait until after the exercise to see if you really need it. Also keep a close eye on your renal function and check it a couple of times at least a year. My advice would be to avoid daily use sha. You can focus your workout on pool exercises and stationary bike exercises that minimise stress on the knee. |

Doc, everybody will die one day. What is the need of not eating to satisfaction when I will still die one day. Do vegans, and athletes live forever? I did not say one should not eat red meat but to eat in moderation. I have seen the mountains of meat some people eat in the name of enjoyment and after a while you can't find their neck. Red meat is nutritious and a great source of protein, iron, Vit B, zinc but should still be taken in moderation in order to maximise the pros and minimise the cons. When you start takings heaps of it, especially the fatty bits, the cons will pile up. Those that feel insulted if every meal of theirs does not include 2 -4 big and fat pieces of meat, each as big as a dumbbell, those are the ones i am talking about. |

BlueRayDick: @ afrodoc2
Where I work it is mandatory for all staff to be subjected to annual medical examination. Last year's result came back normal aside from the lipids profile diagnosing "Dyslipidemia". I didn't know what that meant until that moment, so I had to Google it.
In reaction to my Google findings, I decided to cut down on red meat (not like I'm a big fan before, but me regularly indulging in Suya, Asun, beef shawarma, double beef patty in my burger and asun jollof rice/spaghetti didn't make me doubt the result Sha). I had to also cut down on alcohol and would take water instead of carbonated drinks(I only use it to mix whiskey by the way) or alcohol.
So fast forward to this year's medical examination, the result came out not saying anything about Dyslipidemia
NB : I must say that last year's medical examination was carried out by a diagnostic center contracted by my organization while this year's was carried out by a reputable hospital in Lagos.
I have attached this year's test result for your perusal . Do you think my lifestyle changes had an impact on this year's result? Do you think this year's result is fair considering where I'm coming from? What do you advise I do going forward to stay healthier? This result does not look bad; however, the whole picture and your cardiovascular risk is better assessed when the result is computed with your age, your BP, your diabetic status, your smoking history, your family history, your kidney function level. Generally speaking, the most important figures in that result are the Total Cholesterol (4.5) and the HDL (1.3). You want the total cholesterol as low as possible (below 5 or if you have a family history below 4) and you want the HDL to be above 1. Check the results from last year for these 2 values and compare to this year's result and that will tell you how well you have done. You have already made most of the changes needed. Cutting down on unhealthy fats from fried foods, using healthy oils to cook rather saturated and trans fats, fatty red meat, fast foods like burgers. Cutting down on alcohol, not smoking. Eating adequate fibre, legumes, nuts, avocadoes, salmon, vegetables. Exercising regularly. |
