He never had to play AM for any extended period of time. He had Foden at City and with England he had Foden, Gomes, Smith-Rowe e.t.c. He is comfortable when he comes infield but i am not sure long term AM would favour him.

I remember Lewandowski starting as a sub in his early Dortmund days and even getting minutes as a LW.

Bayern is a more complete team and can win the game even if they make mistakes.

PSG has to player close to a perfect game in order to win. That includes tactical discipline by their defensive players and Neymar/Mbappe making sure they are not wasteful when the breakaways come their way.

I think in the era of No 10s he would have been excellent in that role in a 4-2-3-1 formation or even as a support striker in 4-4-1-1.
However few big teams play like that anymore.

What he is not though, is a wing-forward. He would be wasted in that role IMO.
