is good. He has the highest potential in the under 18s in my opinion. However it is more about his strength and quality on and off the ball. In terms of pure long range passing i don't think he is as good as Levitt or Garner.

The only formation that does not favour Fred is sole DM in the 4-3-3.

He can be part of the pivot in the 4-2-3-1 and part of the diamond in the 4-4-2.

Depends on the opposition.

4-4-2 diamond with Matic or McTom at the base CDM, Fred LCM, Pogba RCM, and Bruno at the apex CAM.
For it to work you need good attacking full back play.

Or 4-2-3-1 with Pogba and another midfielder in a double pivot and Bruno at 10. This one needs a non-lazy Pogba.

Or a 4-3-3 with McTom or Matic as sole DM and Pogba and Bruno as attacking midfielders. The DM most be mobile and/or Pogba must be non-lazy.

please know this isn't a Pogba advocacy post, just looking at the facts vis-a-vis elampiro's surmise.

He was actually 3rd, and was the lowest of the midfielders listed. Midfielders generally cover more ground than other players.

This season might have been worse based on logistics and his frustration with not getting his Madrid move.

This is not a Pogba persecution post (cos i actually want us to keep him next season and see what we can achieve with Pogba and Bruno together).

When watching his Ligue 1 clips i saw signs of the same loose touch and running into traffic disease that has blighted Bakayoko’s career.

I think he will be alright in that regard. He probably has the best mentality in the whole squad in terms of fighting spirit and belief.

His major problem will be the fact that he is a right footed RB who was converted to LB midway though his football education. If he does not make it at Old Trafford that will be the reason why. Not everybody can be Phillip Lahm.

Yeah you are probably right. He is getting more injury prone these days.

That was what i stated here even before he made his debut. He has even improved. In the youth team he was involved in all the fights and sometimes appeared to set out to injure opponents.

His temperament is his greatest strength and greatest weakness.

You want us to go and buy another Daniel James.

It is not that cheap players are better than expensive players, but that we have often spent big money on the wrong type of expensive player.

Excellent goal keeper in his prime and a good shot stopper.
His major problem? Only 5 yrs younger than Pagliuca and 6 yrs older than Buffon.

That list has nothing to do with the ranking of goalies at a particular time. It is just a list of goalies that were top goalies for at least 10yrs like you asked for.

Other goalies might have been as good if not better but didn't last for 10yrs. That is why for example i didn’t put Walter Zenga there, or Jean Marie Pfaff, or Arconada, or Schumacher but Clemence made the list.

I believe he will get sharper in the next couple of weeks. What we must not do is overuse him and cause a season ending injury cos there is no one else.

Mellor in the under 23 has decent hold up play but has never been prolific.
Ramazani is more of a left winger.

It is still too early to tell with the under 18s.
Emeran and Hoogewerf came from abroad with big reputations but it is still early days.

No standout performer at this time, but then again Rashford was not a star in the youth team.
