Henry had disappearing acts in some big games, but when you consider his skill level,pace and what he brought to the team apart form his goals i will rate him number 1. Imagine a prime Henry in this Pep set up.

Did you read no 3? If the players had no blame why would the team need a makeover? If they had no blame why would i label them mechanical?

1) We need a good Director of Football who will oversee player acquisition and development and also keep Waywad away from those functions. Wayward's choice of managers and his dealings in the transfer market have been suspect, so he can't escape a portion of the blame.

2) We need to part ways with JM. He is an obnoxious fella playing an obnoxious brand of football, and when he is not winning titles he is as useful(or useless) as orogbo or a waterproof teabag.

3) The team needs a makeover WHEN a new manager and DoF are in place. I see no reason handing money to JM to buy more mechanical players.
If there ever was a textbook definition of throwing good money after bad, this is it.

Mourinho should shut up, sit down, and work with what he has got........then leave quietly at the end of the season. Alternatively he can GTFOH and we get an interim manager to continue coaching until the end of the season unless we can get a new permanent manger and DoF in.

JM was handicapped by the recent issues in that regard. Even if Pogba had stopped playing and started cartwheeling round the pitch and saying ntooor, there was no way JM was going to remove him with all the recent rumors.

That does not absolve JM of any blame though. Woodward seems to be showing that there is a limit to his own foolishness. Why should i give more money to buy defenders to a "defensive guru" who just finished wasting money on defenders like Lindelof and Bailly?

Anybody who believes that Mourinho needs to shell out big money on defenders (on top of the money he has already spent on international defenders) to be able to defend against the overaged journeymen attackers of Brighton must be a comedian.

I don't want to say i told you about Pogba, but i told you so. I like the guy as a youth team product and desperately want him to succeed, and he has the tools but he just does not know how to apply them.
He has all it takes to dominate a midfield but does not understand the basic duties of a midfielder. Slow to get to the ball, slow to press the opponent, taking 2 touches when 1 would suffice and 3 touches when 2 would be enough. Going for the Hollywood pass when a Kroos/Thiago/Verrati kind of simple continuation pass would do the same job at less risk.

Just like in the case of Jonny Evans what makes this more worrying is that he played with Pirlo and Carrick and still does not get it.

Blind was our best defender under Vangaal. Remember Smalling went awol after dec. Only Blind looked up for it, especially after his aclimitization. After Jan, he was far better than Smalling and was our best defender till the end.

He had serious problems with pacy players and tall players. I wasn’t really confident with him at the back even though technically he was excellent.

This makes sense, at least Paul Pogba has no much defensive work and can concentrate more on the attack. The collection of midfielders in this team right now should not be dominated for any reason except the tactics are just so bad. I expect Jose Mourinho to fashion the right spanners to throw in the works of almost every opponent he faces this season.

But who will be the front two?
The obvious will be Alexis Sanchez-Romelu Lukaku. For me though, Alexis will be on the bench and Jesse Lingard or Anthony Martial takes his place.

Also, Luke Shaw has to be very effective for this formation to have some hope because the right side is already comatose. Maybe Diogo Dalot has something in store for the fans?

If this formation is used then it would Lukaku starting with Sanchez. Martial and Rashford would be next in line before Lingard.
But this would only be a temp fix and not a formation i want long term. It would help minimize the problems fitting Pogba into a working midfield and also take Sanchez from the left wing where he has been useless so far.

Not that I am saying it would work, but you start with your best team. You don’t punish a player for being one of your best players by leaving him on the bench.
We are not in the position to be over calculating and starting an inferior player in place of a superior player.

In terms of a formation to fit all 4, a 4-4-2 diamond will work with Matic at the base, Fred LM, Pereira RM, Pogba at the apex. This becomes a 4-3-1-2 against smaller teams.
