TravelRe: My Wahala With WAKANOW.COM And Ethiopian Airwways by Afroprince(m): 9:52am On Jul 07, 2013
Alright guys...most times i prefer reading than posting, but i have to be honest here, i have used Wakanow holiday packages for my vacations in SA and Kenya. Their service is wonderful but just like someone pointed out here, sometimes it could be the fault of either the customer or the CS rep. Instead of bastardizing the organization let's encourage them to up their game in customer service, they have done well so far for and terming them FRAUDULENT is very unfair.
TravelKenya Pals Or Travel Buddies Needed! by Afroprince(op): 1:27pm On Sep 13, 2012

TravelBetween Kenya And Seychelles Holidays!!! by Afroprince(op): 9:19am On Sep 09, 2012
Hi peeps...i intend traveling to either Kenya or Seychelles for a 7 day vacation and i am wondering the best place to choose since i am going alone!!! I intend relocating with my family someday to either of the countries (in the long term o! not now unless i get some tempting offer during my visit) I need a place i have prospects of getting a job and settling with family. I know Seychelles got a lot of beaches & to an extent job opportunities although a local told me it will be hard to get a job that can pay up to 2500 USD per month and from my findings it might be quite boring since its more of an Island which i think will be perfect for a couple. Then Kenya? not so sure about the place...seen the Safaris etc but i really want a place i will have a swell time as well as have value for money that i will spend. Kenya seems cheaper than Seychelles for vacation too...To cut long story short, I need a an advice from anyone that has been to these 2 countries...I need a speedy reply guys cos my vacation will start in a week and i need to book a deal fast, Anyone?
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Is Online Job Application A Waste Of Time? by Afroprince(m): 9:23pm On Jul 14, 2012
Online Application is not a waste of time at all!!! I have worked in 6 establishments through out my career and 4 out of the 6 were made possible via online application and those were the best paying jobs i have ever had. Presently, I am an Area Manager for a company and i got this same job online. Online applications may take a very longtime to come through, so please do not always expect to be called ASAP. Example...I applied for the job i am doing presently in 2006 and i attended interview sometime in 2009 and eventually started the job in 2010. I am a living testimony of getting a job online, i never knew anyone, i had no God-Father anywhere i solely relied on the internet for jobs and Thank God it happened for me. My secret was persistence...i applied up to 3 to 5 jobs a day via online! As long as i felt i had a skill that could tackle the job...I applied not minding what i studied in school! so my dear peeps...fire-on your applications online and don't allow anyone to deceive you.

We all have dreams of beautiful Islands we would love to visit before we die. But have you ever thought of making the area you inhabit that kind of Island you have always dreamt of? I am an Imolite; I dwell in Imo and hopefully will die at God’s appointed time in Imo and will be buried in Imo. These are my dreams:

I wanna see an Imo with good road Network and drainages to match. Hey not only the major roads o! This should affect every neighborhood e.g towns, estates, streets etc, don’t just pour red sand, kindly tar them sir!

I wanna see an Imo that used to be so adventurous and ever ready to develop.

I wanna see an Imo where Police brutality will be tackled, if really they are our friends, then they should respect our human rights.

I wanna see an Imo free from kidnappers and thieves that wanna reap where they did not sow

I wanna see an Imo that will thrive on peace, integrity and honour.

I wanna see an Imo where people who work hard will be rewarded for their productivity other than where “monkey go dey work, baboon go dey chop”

I wanna see an Imo where they government will understand the suffering of its people and do as much as possible to solve them – a bad government is as bad as they people that surrounds it, take note: Owelle Rochas Okorocha! Please get a social network where you can interact with the masses, its when you hear their cries that you can find a solution…Facebook is good and I can personally be your Online Content Manager…I sabi dey job wella

I wanna see an Imo where kids will be taught their lingua and traditions which will ensure that our exemplary moral culture will be preserved (oh!! do away with the bad customs already).

I wanna see an Imo where its citizens will uphold the good works of its leaders and not tarnish their image for their selfish interest.

I wanna see an Imo where the youth will be properly educated and enlightened. C’mon reduce the cost of education – it’s our right to be learned.

I wanna see an Imo that will have proper healthcare for all…especially the aging.

I wanna see an Imo that will be a tourism heaven and attract foreigners which will in turn enhance culture exchange and new ideas as well as generate income for the State. Example Oguta Lake toh bahd!

I wanna see an Imo where good ideas will not just be a dream but put into work to be REALITY.

I wanna see an Imo with good drinking water (for me, this is LIFE) and very important “POWER”, when there is electricity…trust me, every other thing comes to play like: employment, security, more returns on investment etc (bros dis one no be magic or ojoro, Na Major!)

I wanna see an Imo where graduates will not be patrolling the streets doing nothing but working in offices and earning a living (dis one go reduce 419 and robbery) an idol mind is the Devils Workshop o!

I wanna see an Imo where craftsmanship and creativity will be encouraged and developed…why? If we no fit work for office, we fit use our talents naa!

I wanna see an Imo where religious tolerance will be adored (Dis go help make dem no dey kpai each other like turkey as dem dey do for North)

I wanna see an Imo where refuse is dumped where it is supposed to be…in the trash cans or bins! Not on the street…it’s appalling, hey remember! Cleanliness is next to Godliness. (Government abeg make una provide these Silos for every street make we for comply)

Yeah! Imo can be this lovely….it’s very possible if you and I can abide to all stated above. The government has a role to play in the re-orientation of the masses but I know this can be achieved if we all come together as ONE.

It’s a new dawn in Imo State. One Love Imolites, I am proudly Imo.

Tell me about the Imo ya would love to see!

LiteratureRe: Popular Works Of African Poets. by Afroprince(m): 11:37pm On Nov 25, 2010
oh my God, Africa by JP Clark is a classic, can recite it till date, i am loving this thread!!! Lemme share a poem i wrote:

Love is Love - Fado

Love is love
Love is like a dove
It spreads its wings
Without a fling
It expects no sting
But just wanna sing
Great songs of inspiration
That has no fixed duration

Love roars like a beast
Looking for nothing but a feast
It ignites like a flame
And trades no blame
It has no pride
But simply wants a bride
To cherish and to hold
Not to tarnish and scold

Love has no width and length
But dwells on trust and strength
It’s only for the strong to desire
And for the weak to retire
Love heals with ease
And can only thrive on peace
So love like u mean it
If its love, its not deceit

Guinea national team coach Frenchman Michel Dussuyer has confirmed that the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Nigeria had been postponed.

Speaking on Wednesday to French sports magazine L'Equipe from Abidjan, Ivory Coast where the Sily National are preparing for their supposed match against Nigeria earlier scheduled to take place on October 10 in Conakry, Dussuyer said a fax landed in his hotel a while ago saying the Nigeria encounter has been postponed indefinitely.

"We received a fax from Guinea football federation, confirming to us the Guinea - Nigeria match has been postponed till further notice. No reasons were given. We're waiting for further clarifications," Dussuyer said.

Nigeria was suspended for two years by world's football body FIFA days ago for multiple government interferences in the country's football affairs.

Nice project, Website is very important, social media - a very strong tool u cannot ignore (facebook, twitter, linked-in), e-newsletters another strong tool, there are good ones you can customize and enjoy freely. Magazine can come up when these other mediums gain enough exposure and fan-base, Goodluck!!!

Bless you dbbest, I've not resigned yet, still thinking and praying. I have also told the media house to try and up the offer to 120k, even if there will be a raise later, i need to start well. A lot of people wouldn't know but media houses don't pay much, including Cool and Cosmo some guys mentioned here, they presenters make up with side shows, voice-overs etc. What matters most in media is your ability to command a presence and make sense while on-air. Radio is a lovely job as long as you know your "P" but right now i am not just thinking about me but also a lot of people that i assist but i rather not live my life alone for peeps cos if anything happens they will definitely find their rhythms elsewhere! I AM THINKING DEEPLY, LETS SEE HOW EVERYTHING PLAYS OUT!

Ok, thanks knotty and everyother Nairalander that has contributed to my thread, heard ya. Just spoke to my wife some minutes back, told her the realities the paycut will present and she said she is ready for it and its challenges as long as i am happy with it, that she only wants me to be happy. Asked my mum and sisters as well and they are supporting the media move. Now i dont know if its cos of my recent health complains or that the really want me to do media. If only i can hear God, If only i can see tomorrow! Please God, help me make this decision, i must confess it aint easy for me! Prayer warriors on nairaland pls do help out on this issue, i am still very confused but i know my heart wants media but my wish is the IT pay. One poster wanted to know if i stay far from my office, i actually stay in Surulere but work in Lekki, trust me the traffic alone coming down from Lekki to VI is killing talk of S/lere especially that Ozumba Mbadiwe road, it took me almost 4hrs to make it home today.
CareerRe: I Am Confused - Job Satisfaction Or Renumeration? by Afroprince(op): 5:18pm On May 20, 2010
wow! i am overwhelmed by the responses i got here, i really appreciate you all for your responses. I've asked my wife at the first contact by the radio and she confessed she fell in love with me as an entertainer and would not mind me coming back to radio. She also models so she understands my pain, secondly, my BP is getting high lately and thats another food for thought on leaving Lagos. The BP started here in Lagos and i wanna leave it here, lol, but really its been hard for me lately. The amount to be added was not written in the contract that the radio sent me but it was specified that their must be a raise.

Moreover the boss that wants me back worked with me in same radio station in Abuja, he got this new place and wants me back, i dont think he will mess with me on money issues. I am gonna call my wife again 2nite, discuss it some more, point out the paycut and the result it may bring, then i will give y'all a feedback. Thanks for watching my back peeps! Many people are in my shoes, looking for a way to solve this kind of issue, this will definitely help other people, not only me. I will reach my decision soon, i have prayed but have not received an answer yet or is it that i have failed to really listen well?
CareerRe: I Am Confused - Job Satisfaction Or Renumeration? by Afroprince(op): 8:39am On May 16, 2010
thanks for your response, what it will mean is that i may not have savings anymore but i think i can work around the 90k with family but may need to cut down on some miscelleanous spending. my heart truly seek media but its just the money aspect and i have also put some plans ahead but still fear for the unknown! Most times money come in via adverts, sponsorships, voice-overs etc but all these aint guaranteed but if i work hard and do what i know how to do best with my voice on radio, i may be a hit there cos i believe in my talent on radio.

Shabaz, i have that plan but dont have enuf capital yet to start and i have only 2wks to take the job or leave it. I am thinking of combining the job with mceeing occassions, get a DJ set for myself for parties, organise quarterly shows and also DJ in niteclubs if need be! but in all this, i need a capital, have 250k savings, can i start anything profitable with that now, any idea? i have fun doing radio, i dont feel like i am working while doing this job at all, but fear of the future and the unknown whether all my plans will work out is messing with my brain.

Dove u are right, i work to live and not live to work, i take care of people more than i spend my money on ME but its already telling on my health, BP is getting higher by the dayand i am only 31, i complain a lot lately but for how long can i continue like this? but i really dont wanna make a mistake o! still very confused ooo!
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Job Satisfaction Or Renumeration? I Am Confused! by Afroprince(op): 5:12pm On May 15, 2010
thanks Konti, i am wondering if i can work around the 90k, then look out for opportunities to exploit via being an on-air personality, sometimes money really comes in via other areas in media, but it is not a guarantee shaa, really thinking, very confused!

Hi good people, i need constructive suggestions pls, i am married with a son, wifey is a student in 3rd yr. I worked as a tv presenter and later moved on to radio as a presenter/producer/DJ, i did this for 4years of my life and loved every minute of it. Later moved to banking where i stayed for 3yrs but now i am an asst mgr in an IT firm, i take care care of their branding issues. My problem now is that cos of skool i stay far from my young family, i am in Lagos and the are in Enugu, secondly i hate Lagos cos i awake 4:30am everyday and leave my house 5:30am to avoid traffic. I earn close to 250k a month with other incentives but yet i am not satisfied with the job, Lagos, the traffic (the fact that i have to struggle driving to & fro work against heavy traffic) and most especially not being close to my family. I just got an appointment to move back to radio in the east, 1hr drive away from my family for a salary of 90k a month, a flat, health insurance and 6months salary review. What should i do? i love media, its my life but taking a paycut of 150k for job satisfaction is scary? i need your honest contributions, u could be saving a life, waiting for your answers, one love!
