I received the news with mixed feelings. Such security outfit is long overdue. I had expected that South East governors and politicians would come together and establish similar organisation but they seem to lack the willpower to do that.

For Nnamdi Kanu to have achieved this despite being away from Nigeria and also following the Wike/Oyingbo issues is incredible. Just when his rating fell to an all time low and moral lost amongst his followers when Wike, Nigerian Army and Ekeocha were abducting and killing suspected IPOB members, he pulled a rabbit out of the hat.

It’s amazing. Kanu and ESN will get lots of support from lots of Igbos....but ESN will encounter unimaginable problems. Nigeria Army will deal with them.They will be treated as an illegal and terrorist outfit camouflaging as a security organisation. South East politicians will distance themselves. Any public figure who supports them will be blacklisted.

It won’t be easy for ESN....it’s a double edged sword.

I am not sure I fully understand what you mean , does it mean that Nnewi does not have enough paying customers to sustain a moderately sized supermarket.............the same Nnewi sustains a massive food market at Nkwo nnewi............if nnewi cannot sustain that small supermarket then its most likely a lifestyle issue and certainly not a matter of disposable income.

Abia "airport" when Owerri airport is 20 miles away from Aba and PH airport is down the road.

Meanwhile our cities look extremely primitive with haphazard disorganized 4 and 5 storey buildings with wide smelly drainages and people selling in dilapidated & rotting markets.

Some of our people reason like imbeciles it seems. No strategic thinking at all.

We need rails, roads and ports with heavy emphasis on the first 2. Unviable airports are the last thing we need. Airports and planned and executed based on proximity and viability not on "states". Just because Nigeria has 36 artificial and unviable states does not mean we have 36 airports as well

Upgrade the Asaba airport. Make it the Onitsha/Asaba twin city airport. Build a 6 way lane running from the airport into Onitsha. Do not spend a kobo building another airport

Connect the airport to Onitsha and Asaba with and light rail or a skytrain. Same for Owerri airport to Aba. That would achieve far far more for the southeast than building all these airports

I do not know your background but a modern rail system is far more expensive to build than an airport.............. if we can keep the corruption associated with construction projects to a minimum, 10 billion naira should deliver a decent airport we can all be proud of. Please do not forget that the foremost airline operator in the country is from this state and we should give him the support and base to do greater exploits. The airport business model is really not the money-spinner we imagine it to be, most airports in the world are heavily subsidized by governments. I think Anambra deserves an airport of its own. In the unstable geopolitical environment, we have in Nigeria, it will amount to ethnic suicide not to have several airports within alaigbo especially as we are not too close to the ocean...........these airports may become lifelines in a serious conflict.......this issue is not just about naira and kobo o.

Second Niger Bridge was conceived as a PPP under Obasanjo who signed the contract in 2007 but never funded it. Goodluck inherited the project from yaradua and promised to complete it by 2015 but only started the dredging and piling 1 year before elections budgeting less than 10b for the entire project. So much for Ebele Azikiwe.

As for Enugu airport it is not the only terminal not completed. The Lagos terminal has not been completed either. It is also like the Port Harcourt airport one that lacks a fence and one where developers have encroached on its air side space. These issues are what they are addressing now.

As for SE building a large number of state airports it does not help us. One major regional airport has more value than 5 small airports that lack world class infrastructure. The entire South East has the same population as Ghana with more traveller's and airports yet doesn't boast a single airport like Kotoka because we are the masters of one man business and lack the ability to collaborate on grand projects.
