ba7man: I'm sure you're feeling smug with the point you dropped up there but in all honesty, it bears no corellation to the main topic.

You want to know where the LASG was when slums were being created?? I'll tell you.

Slums came about as a result of massive immigration of people into Lagos during the 70's, 80's and 90's. The Millitary regimes were in charge back then and due to their irresponsible nature, they chose to ignore them.

Tinubu became Governor and attempted to introduce some sanity (something the Millitary couldn't do) but he was being cautious not to cause an uproar since Lagosians were already used to living in such state of lawlessness and disorder.

Fashola took over and went straight to work, not caring who's ox was gored. Now, I'm sure anyone will think twice before erecting a shanty which is a good thing.

So where were they?? They were probably in secondary school...university while the Slums were being constructed.
And this rubbish joker on NL was either a toddler running around the village square back home or wasn't even born when the slums manifested...

Sam xiu lee: @ agbameta, please you need to objective with this your post, the court suit was instituted by a private citizen not the fg,truly inland water ways are control by the fg,take note that both the AGF,FIWWA and lasg are respondents in this case, those FG guys are just trying to save their asses, that all,I dnt think there should be bad blood about the project.
The Federal Government said this in a counter-affidavit filed before a Federal High Court, Lagos
1. They filed their own law suit

2. If the inland waterways as you implied is the exclusive domain of the FG, then why did the FG under the commander in chief aka Yaradua not only supported the project, they did everything in their power to remove any obstruction and even sacrificed FG properties standing in the way in favor of the Lagos state government?

3. If the inland waterways is truly the exclusive domain of the FG, why are they not going after the Lagos state waterways authority because this agency is currently regulating the waterways in Lagos, it's also collecting fees and taxes from all users accessing the waterways?

One funny thing...

https://web.laswa-ng.com/wp-content/themes/Dolby/images/logo_nu.png

There is this state agency in Lagos state called LASWA. Lagos State Waterways Authority. It was created back in 2008 to regulate the waterways in Lagos state... Meaning the state of Lagos can and is regulating the waterways in Lagos state which they have been doing for years.

So, who is really in charge of the waterways in Lagos state and why are they not challenging Lagos state and this state agency's rights to regulate, monitor and tax traffic up and down the Lagos state waterways?

30 long years and counting, they still don't know how to mobilize to the site or even competent and honest enough to award any contract to build the village bridge, but the losers are losing sleep because the government of the state Lagos state built the best and the most sophisticated bridge inn West Africa within 3 short years.

The governor said despite apprehension by his cabinet that the project would be scuttled by the government at the centre, he entertained no fear as he approached the late President.”

He said, “When I showed him the design in his office in Abuja and told him what we wanted from him, he simply picked up his intercom and invited the then Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Alhaji Yayale Ahmed to join the meeting.

He told the SGF, ‘There is this bridge in conception by the Lagos State Government. It will affect some properties over which we have a dispute with the state government in court, please without prejudice to the outcome of the case, please release the two properties to them. Our political difference cannot stand in the way of our peoples’ development.’ That was President Yar’Adua as a statesman, not a politician.

Yar’Adua Facilitated Construction Of Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge – Gov Fashola

https://freedomonline.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/late_umaru_yaradua.jpg

He said that while enemies of the state were busy as usual trying to halt the progress, some patriots “pulled out all the stops to accelerate the turning of the wheels of progress.”

The governor particularly commended the effort of late President Yar Adua recalling that despite the seeming differences between the state and the federal government, the late president did not hesitate to give his support to ensure the speedy success of the project.

According to him, “on the completion of the design of the bridge, four properties were earmarked for demolition at the Ikoyi end of the bridge with two of such belonging to the federal government.”

Fashola added that at the height of the dispute between both arms of government over the properties, there were feelers from members of the state executive council that the President Yar’ Adua-led federal government would not be willing to cede the properties to a state controlled by its main opposition.

“While President Yar’ Adua surprised them, he did not surprise me. This was the same president who released our local government funds that were illegally withheld.”

homesteady: Why aren't you questioning the sanity of lagos state government? Is Fashola not a SAN? Isn't he meant to know more of this things?? undecided
Why should I question Fashola? He built the best and the most sophisticated bridge in West Africa in front on the whole world including the FG of Nigeria and he not only notified the FG, he took his case including the bridge design to the then President of Nigeria Yaradua (RIP) who not only supported Fashola and this very bridge, but also removed all the FG obstacles needed to facilitate the construction of this bridge, Yaradua even handed over to the state of Lagos 2 FG properties standing in the way/Blocking construction.

This is why Fashola praised Yararua during commissioning for his steadfast support and generosity.

Instead of honorable and progressive people like Yaradua, what we have now in Abuja are rretards, lazy, aimless, incompetent and anti progress elements with nothing better to do with their time but happily obstruct and stand in the way of progress.

Let's just assume that the FG is making sense which of course they are not as usual, where were they when the state of Lagos mobilized to the site and before construction? Where were they for 3 long years? They just realized the fact that they have the sole authority to regulate the Nigerian waterways almost a year after completion and commissioning of the bridge?

What's the meaning of this blind and antagonistic silliness? Ar they going to demolish the bridge or what?

Sometimes I wonder about the sanity of the tards, kleptomaniacs and sociopaths in Abuja.

The judge adjourned the suit to December 5.

https://media.premiumtimesng.com/dev/wp-content/files/banners/fashola_296x300_388880153.png

The Federal Government on Monday said Lagos State Government did not obtain the approval of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) to construct the Lekki-Ikoyi Suspension Bridge.

The Federal Government said this in a counter-affidavit filed before a Federal High Court, Lagos, by the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and NIWA in a suit instituted by a lawyer, Ebun Olu-Adegboruwa.

Mr. Olu-Adegboruwa filed the suit to challenge the propriety of the construction of the bridge and imposition of tolls on its users by the state government.

The AGF, NIWA, the Lagos State Government and the Lagos State Attorney-General are respondents in the suit; and Justice Saliu Saidu on Monday fixed December 5 for hearing.

In their joint counter-affidavit dated August 7, the AGF and NIWA maintained that the only option available to the state government was to have sought written permission from NIWA to use the lagoon for the construction.

The counter-affidavit deposed to and filed on behalf of AGF and NIWA, by their counsel, Queen Ubah, stated that the law conferred on NIWA exclusive authority over “navigable waterways, inland waterways, river ports, including the Lagos and Lekki Lagoon, upon which the bridge was constructed.’’

Contrary to the contention of the Lagos State Government and its Attorney-General in their own counter-affidavit dated February 1, the AGF and NIWA denied that Federal Government agencies were notified of the bridge design.

The state government in their own counter-affidavit had stated that the regulation of inland waterways in Nigeria had always been within the regulatory control of the state governments.

Alfa Seltzer: I have followed this western media made up "scandal" and have asked myself what exactly it is that she did wrong.

I thought she bought personal cars with government money but it turned out that it was another agency altogether that purchased vehicles for government and ministerial purposes.

So why all the hate campaign?
She's crooked, corrupt and incompetent.

1. They did not buy any car, they basically devised a devious scheme to loot which they did. We are yet to see what they bought.

2. Assuming they actually bought the cars, the amount they paid was dubious, criminal and unjustifiable.

3. They signed for what they didn't see and was never delivered, this is incompetence, dubious, criminal, negligence and possible collusion to defraud. This official should have been fired, but she didn't because she's part of the scheme and racket.

4. Her and her pose are yet to come up with unified and coherent rational explanation for the whole fraudulent activity. It's been lies and perjury day after day.

It's quiet obvious that she's incompetent, corrupt, and untrustworthy. She's not in any position to hold any public trust or office, she should have been fired and indicted a long time ago, she's still on the job because ours is a corrupt and crooked society and she's a sad byproduct of the same crooked and corrupt society, even her Boss is very corrupt and a strong corruption enabler, he not only sorounds himself with corrupt people and convicts, he sees nothing wrong with corruption and according to him, corruption is our collective parception and imagination.
