Special Assistant to the President on Constitution and Legal matters, Barrister Ahmad Ali Gulag, today condemned what he described as “on line public lynching” of Minister of Aviation Stella Oduah-Ogiemwonyi over the purchase of two executive armoured car worth over N225million. Gulag stated “Mr President is satisfied with the good work of the aviation minister and the transformation of the aviation sector” Gulag added “the cars are not personal property of the Minister but that of the office of Aviation Minister, no cost is too high to protect public officers...

Dsdada: Sometimes i just wonder if it is still possible for us to move forward as a nation. If the aviation minister cannot be held responsible for a leaking airport terminal roof, who then should be held responsible? When yitsak rabin, then prime minister of israel was killed by an israeli, both the head of military and state intelligence resigned. Was is their responsibility? Yes! Were they supposed to personally secure the prime minister? No! Should we then hold our hon minister of aviation responsible for the leaking terminal roof? Yes,if we intend to move forward. No,if want to remain where we are.
Here we have Nigerians dying needlessly because of one woman's open display of incompetence, insensitivity, fraudulent behavior and illegal activities, but she must not be held accountable because she's my tribe woman even if my own tribe folks are equally victims of her actions and inactions. This is the sad, despicable and unfortunate dangerous tribal game we play everyday and have been playing even way before independence.

Sadly, accountability is not part of our daily realities or our culture, even when situations like the one we are discussing right now emanates, tribal sentiments and worries trumps accountability, it trumps common sense, it trumps our collective safety and security, it trumps our growth and development.

Unfortunately for the tribal folks and the rest of Nigeria, they are all losers and the only winner here is this Aviation minister because she's getting away with murder and whatever riches she scoops up along the way.

God forbid another plane crash, her own tribal folks giving her their tribal cover are going to be part of the dead just like folks from other parts of Nigeria.

Lagos generates N20billon IGR monthly

Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in Lagos State averages a total of N20billion monthly, the State Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Ben Akabueze, has disclosed.

Akabueze revealed the figure Thursday at the ongoing ministerial press briefing to herald the sixth anniversary of Governor Babatunde Fashola in office.

A statement by the special Assistant to the President on Constitution and Legal matters, Barrister Ahmad Ali Gulak, has revealed that President Jonathan backs aviation minister Stella Oduah following the furore which her purchase of two bullet proof BMW cars for $1.6 million (N225 million) has caused.

The president condemned what he described as “on line public lynching” of Oduah.

Gulak said “Mr President is satisfied with the good work of the aviation minister and the transformation of the aviation sector.”

He said that “the cars does not a personal property of the Minister but that of the office of Aviation Minister, no cost is too high to protect public officers who are carrying out desired changes.

leighcon: The project was built by Enron for LASG at inception of 4th republic. Power policy/constitutional issues did not allow LASG to control usage of its output as it had to be fed into the national grid.

Again, there were issues with EPC (Energy Purchase Contract) and of course demise of Enron (American erstwhile energy giant) coupled with litigation in the US affected its management. The facility still runs don't get me wrong.

It is now called AES barge as one poster mentioned, how and why are what I don't have details of now.

You are too dumb even after reading to figure out that this is not about quantity, but more about a creative concept to get around what the rest of the country including your villages still have to deal with.

And why should they build what the late comers and JJDs in your villages are build when in fact Lagos state did that already and still couldn't keep any MW for the people of Lagos state just like your villages with all their MWs can't do?

Akwa Ibom generates 100MW

The Minister for Power and Steel, Dr. Lanre
Babalola, has commended Governor
Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State for
being the first ever in the history of the
country to actualize the power dream of
making electricity available within every
five kilometres radius. He made the
assertion while on inspection of the state’s
power project, which has added 100MW to
the national grid.

now can u please shut up[/s]
Are they capable of transmitting any produced MW to any establishment in that village or even sef, can you show us any hospital or state infrastructure and institution getting uninterrupted power supply?

The concept Lagos is pursuing is not building hundreds of worthless MW plants that can not serve the people because you can not keep it or transmit it to benefit your tax payers.

We've been there and we've done that, we've even moved away from that kind of worthless ventures to do critical targeting by keeping every MW we generate, something your villages with their MWs can not do.

Stop comparing apples with oranges...

Lagos state as a pacesetter was the first state in Nigeria to build one f those so what dumb rubbish are you beating chest with you village JJD late comer?

Any ability and capacity to credibly correct decades of federal inability to guarantee uninterrupted power supply to the people, to our streets, to our critical infrastructures like our water works, our hospitals, our schools, our bridges and public institutions is worth celebrating, may not in your village where even with your worthless MW, they can not guarantee any hospital or operating room uninterrupted power supply.

Quality is always better than quantity, just too bad this concept is foreign to village migrants and illiterates like you.

rivets and akwa ibom states have gone beyond building mega plants to buying distribution companies.
now tell me who is ahead of the game.

At this very second, can they guarantee any establishment in the villages you mentions uninterrupted power supply? No they can not because they are still tied down to the worthless National grid your dumb assss is still celebrating after 50 years obsolete existence......

Again, quality is always better than quantity, just too bad this concept is foreign to village migrants and illiterates like you.

Lagos state is the only entity in Nigeria manufacturing transformers and about to start manufacturing meters, something the villages you mentioned are going to end up buying from Lagos state

you are the stark illiterate here that can sell his balls for shit.

It's always laughable when ignorant illiterates and dullards like you call other people illiterats when in fact it's written all over your village self and existence.
