RAIN AND FLOOD OCCURED AT THE SAME INTERVALS, with or without ENTROPY fresh water fishes would have adapted to the equillibrum state
Stop arguing ignorantly! Dude, I hope you're trolling me, because I feel embarrassed having to point out the obvious to you...

Here's an experiment you can try at home: Take a live catfish and place it in 100L bowl. Add 10L of fresh water to it. Now, take 50L of water fetched from the ocean, if possible, to replicate the ocean's salinity. Put your bowl under clean water tap faucet and let the water flow. At the same time pour your 50L of ocean water into the container and then come tell us how long that catfish survived.

Don't forget to make fish pepper-soup with it as a consolation for realising how nonsensical your argument is. grin grin grin Seriously, go study high school chemistry and stop this torturous gratification of ignorance!!!

Do you understand what happens when salt water mixes with fresh water? I'll help you: 98% of all water on earth is ocean (I.e. Salt water). When flooding occurs, 98% salt mixes with ~2% fresh. Can you guess what happens? Entropy! It allows the salt water overpower fresh water, and it all becomes salt water. By the time you have enough rain to change the alkalinity of the salt water, most fresh water species would have died out from dehydration. I hope you know that pH is a very delicate scale, and even the slightest change will have huge consequences?

Those who experienced God personally and genuinely cannot be deceived that there is no God. It is the ones who see God through the eyes of their pastors and churches that have the tendency of being deceived that there is no God.

There is a difference between a christian who slacked back in his/her walk with God yet believes in God and the one who slumps into atheism.
Lol...classic! Quick question: Have you experienced god "personally and genuinely"? If so, how does it look? Has it got a gender? Did it talk to you?

It is said that:

Surah 21, Ayah 30 "...the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one unit of creation) before We clove them asunder?"

Can the op be clear about what they mean by heaven? Does heaven include the other planets in our solar system, our galaxy and other galaxies? Does it include the stars, black holes? Does it include dark energy? What does heaven mean? Everything that isn't earth?

YOU ARE WRONG! At equillibrum the PH does not favour both fishes, that is where ADAPTATION comes in. both will have to adapt to the unfavourable changes, because at stability both fishes will not die. AND dont forget that the upper part of the water would be less concentrated with salt while the deeper part is more concentrated with salt meaning that fresh water fishes have the possibility of surviving at the top than below same happens to salt water fishes
Obviously, the fact that we still have fresh water fish that cannot survive in salt water, and vice versa, means this adaptation of yours never took place!

That "upper part" hypothesis is laughable. I'm not sure you know what you're talking about. You suppose the fresh water fish will just magically appear at the upper part, abi?

GOOD YOU THOUGHT WELL. BUT LET ME TELL YOU THAT THERE WAS A HEAVY RAIN FALL BUT ALSO THE EARTH OPENED UP FOR WATER TO COME OUT. ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE IT WAS NOT JUST RAIN BUT GOD OPENED THE FLOOD GATES OF HEAVEN AND OF THE EARTH. THAT PROCESS KEPT THE PH OF WATER AT EQUILLIBRUM(stablity)
That's my point... Having the flood water at equilibrium is exactly the problem! Irrespective of the pH value of this equilibrium, you'll still have to account for either salt water creatures or fresh water creatures; maybe even both.

HOW WOULD THE FLOOD AFFECT THE PH?
If the flood came from the oceans, the pH of fresh water would have increased in such a dramatic fashion that most fresh water creatures wouldn't possibly survive it due to dehydration. If it came from rains, I'm guessing you'll need such high volumes of rain water to raise the level of the sea to such an extent as to cause a global flood. Since rain water is acidic, naturally, you'll then not only account for fresh water creatures, but also salt water ones that will necessarily have excessive intake of water due to less salt.

The descendants of each of these different kinds, apart from humans, would today mostly be represented by a larger grouping than what is called a species. In most cases, those species descended from a particular original kind would be grouped today within what modern taxonomists (biologists who classify living things) call agenus(pluralgenera).
One common definition of a species is a group of organisms which can interbreed and produce fertile offspring, and cannot mate with other species. However, most of the so-called species (obviously all the extinct ones) have not been tested to see what they can or cannot mate with. In fact, not only are there known crosses between so-called species, but there are many instances of trans-generic mating, so the ‘kind’ may in some cases be as high as the family. Identifying the ‘kind’ with the genus is also consistent with Scripture, which spoke of kinds in a way that the Israelites could easily recognize without the need for tests of reproductive isolation.
See lies.
By your account, the present degree of biodiversity needed no more than 5000 years to get to this stage? This is evolution in overdrive. A fantastical tale, no less!

2Noah did not need to take sea creatures 3because they would not necessarily be threatened with extinction by a flood.
Any ideas on how the flood would have affected the pH levels of fresh water? How did fresh water creatures survive this flood?

Smallville10:
Noah did not need to take plants either—many could have survived as seeds, and others could have survived on floating mats of vegetation.
Did you even think your response through? Without plants, how did the herbivores on the ark survive for 40 days?

Smallville10:
Many insects and other invertebrates were small enough to have survived on these mats as well. The Flood wiped out all land animals which breathedthrough nostrilsexcept those on the Ark
Ignoring the pseudo-scientific nonsense about invertebrates surviving on floating vegetable mats that were unperturbed by turbulent waters, and the fact that many invertebrates would die on the slightest exposure to salt water, what kind of food did these invertebrates eat during the 40 days, since their source of nourishment would equally have been submerged by the flood?

Smallville10:
AGENT OF ALLAH.The Bible specifies Noah’s Ark as 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide and 30 cubits high, a huge, stable, seaworthy vessel.
Many skeptics assert that the Bible must be wrong, because they claim that the Ark could not possibly have carried all the different types of animals. This has persuaded some Christians to deny the Genesis Flood, or believe that it was only a local flood involving comparatively few local animals. But they usually have not actually performed the calculations. On the other hand, the classic creationist bookThe Genesis Floodcontained a detailed analysis as far back as 1961. 1A more detailed and updated technical study of this and many other questions is John Woodmorappe’s bookNoah’s Ark: a Feasibility Study. This article is based on material in these books plus some independent calculations. There are two questions to ask:
*.How many types of animals did Noah need to take?
*.Was the ark large enough to hold all the required animals?
A response so pretentious I can swear it's a direct copy and paste from the internet, and it doesn't address my questions.

IN OTHER FOR YOU TO UNDERSTAND CERTAIN THINGS YOU OUGHT TO THINK OUT OF THE BOX. NOT ALL ARE RECORDED IN THE BIBLE. I HAVE DONE ALOT OF RESEARCH OUT OF THE BIBLE.
By "think out of the box", do you mean to contrive details that aren't in the bible?

Anyway, my question is quite simple: I wish to know how Noah was able to fit 7 pairs of all clean animals, one pair of all unclean animals, 7 pairs of all bird species and enough food for 40 days inside an ark roughly half the area of a football stadium. Further, how was such a small family able to feed all these animals continuously, and how were they able to deal with the colossal amount of waste that must have resulted therefrom. Bear in mind that there are over 40,000 vertebrae species and a few million invertebrates.

Thanks.

Well, well, well....your post above is definitely the best thing that has happened to me since joining Nairaland. It's so unbelievable. I'd never in my wildest dream imagine I was having such an effect on another person, especially not through my journals. So reading your post was so surreal. Thank you David. It really means a lot.

Now about your question, I hope to chronicle the answer in my journal in great detail. But, for now, it all boil down to knowing more about the history of the faith I once treasured so dearly. This was set in motion by a burning desire to really, really in all earnestness know God more, through a more rounded personal knowledge of his word guided, as I believed then, by his spirit. God I fasted!! Lol grin 21 days at the beginning of each year angry But as I got more knowledgeable and my mind grew, the pesky little nagging doubts that were once manageable became serious pointers to a grand foul play. My little curious self just couldn't let it go, I kept digging, favoring christian apologetics and theological writings at first but their answers were like band aids over cancer. So I decided to sincerely see things from the 'other side', putting my rose-tinted glasses down for a moment and what I saw and realised then was heartbreaking! It was like I unravel a murder mystery only to trace it to my father as the murderer...but I was no longer blind to the blindspot most Christians have so I didn't protect my 'father' - the murderer - but painfully turned him in if you get my drift.

I wouldn't mind talking some more if you want to.

Just know that I appreciate what you wrote. Thanks again.

PastorAIO: Herein lies the heart of the issue. There is a need, a desperate need, to assume a position of absolute knowledge. Instead of honestly trying to attain the position or at least admitting that it is not possible, we resort instead to sleight of hands and dodgy arguments to support an untenable position.

I've even heard arguments trying to discredit science by saying that scientists are always coming up with new theories and changing their position. Whereas religionists always maintain their position. I don't know how that, the fact that a position is amenable to changing when facts present themselves, makes something less true. If anything it should make it's position stronger than the position that does not consider new facts.

It is simply a matter of intellectual honesty and integrity. God is not something that we can know or grasp. We can try, but if you think that you've pinned God down then you'll be setting yourself up for a shock. Repeated shocks.

There are two parts to this Free Will issue. The Free part, and the Will part.

what do we mean by Free? Are the choices God makes truly free, or are they bound to by his character. ie. are there things that God will typically do and things that he wouldn't do?

Anybody that knows me would tell you that if you were to put chocolate down on one plate, and marzipan on another and tell me to choose one, if they truly know me they will know that I am more likely to choose the marzipan. Knowledge leads to prognosis. If you know me you'll be able to predict my behaviour.

Does God have Character? Likes, dislikes, behavioural patterns, features? If so then his/her choices would be bound to his/her character. that is not totally free. There are things therefore that God just wouldn't/couldn't do.

Then there is the question of who created God's features and characteristics. God himself? ie Self creating. Then what informed his decisions to create himself the way he did? You see how these questions are taking us beyond the levels that our intellect can reach. The honest answer to these questions is 'I don't know'. I don't know why it is so hard for my christian brethren to say these three little words.

Then there is the Will part? If God's Will is absolute then can there by any other Wills in the universe? An absolute Will cannot be thwarted in anyway. Whatever happens must be in accord with this absolute will. If there are other wills, i.e. human will, then that will must necessarily be impotent since the will of God is absolute. Nothing can happen other than what God wills.

However if Human will is not impotent, then God's will cannot be absolute.
Aptly put.

He knows what will happen, he doesn't need to cause it, but he knows it. He is aware of all possible possibilities and the outcome of them all. In it all, among those possible posibilities and choices, he has patterned his timetable to allow for them all.
In the end, he will still win.
