Naam you are on track so you see where reflection comes in, without it you can't know Him.. and remember Mercy(hope) n Wrath(Fear) are among His attributes...the degree of reflection differentiate the slaves of Allah from muslim to mumin to musin
dekatrons:
Naam@ agentxxxx.beautiful hadith indeed
weda directly or indirectly the hadith is affirming to the worship of God due to love
It made mention of knowing...assuredly you can only love or hate some1 when you know his goods and bad attribute
As we know the attributes of Allah points to infinite perfection that is infinitely beautiful essence so the more we know him the more we love him,
So the hadith stipulates that we should worship him by knowing His attribute..indirectly saying that we should worship him out of love
Note;when you Love some1 you will fear to displease him too
Islam › Re: Should The Fear Of Hell Be Our Prerequisite For Worship? by AgentXxx(m): 12:55pm On Jun 06, 2015
Logic is limited and applies to physical science while reasoning/contemplation/meditation is unlimited and is perfect for usage in natural/religious science.. Find out more about it usage ...
NB:Even quran translator will never use logic because of it narrowness
ayinba1:
Why is it important to separate/select one? Will this analysis bring one closer to Allah? Is Allah's reward real? Is Hell real? Even though none of us saw it? Why not worship Him for all three reasons Or worship Him because He created you for that purpose?

I am trying to follow this topic to see how it brings us closer to Allah.

Logic (from the Ancient Greek: λογική, logike)[1] is the use and study of valid reasoning.[2][3] The study of logic features most prominently in the subjects of philosophy, mathematics, and computer science.

IMO - Use of valid Reasoning. Would it relate to reflecting or using one's brain? I am not good at playing on words. In my post and the other posts I read, I loosely used the word as "reason, think, ponder, understand" i.e do not swallow "hook, line and sinker"
Islam › Re: Should The Fear Of Hell Be Our Prerequisite For Worship? by AgentXxx(m): 12:44pm On Jun 06, 2015
you are missing the point, if the child contemplate on why his father acts this way, he will get to know that his father loves him.

there's an hadith that says "HE(Allah) didn't create the jinn or mankind except to worship him...its further explained that Worship him means Know him through His attributes so from knowing him through contemplation you get to know He loves you and end up loving him..[

Fear and Hope are stepping stone leading to loving him provided you contemplate
dekatrons:
You just made use of logic in the above quoted
By the way we know that every child who sins deserves punishment that is justice but the question is should the childs reason for not committing a crime be the result of his fear of punishment a situation which is similar to submission of the body cause when the punishment is removed he definitely goes back to the crime
Or should his condition for not sinning be the result of pure and untainted love for his master in that his fear for sinning is the result of his love for his master a condition referred to as submission of the intellect and of the mind

Salam aleikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,
Firstly, i would love if the word LOGIC is substituted for REASONING, CONTEMPLATION OR MEDITATION...you can check the dictionary meaning so you understand where am coming from..

Concerning the topic, i think fear of hell and hope of paradise "WHEN COMBINED WITH REASONING/CONTEMPLATION/MEDITATON will generate to love of worshipping Allah(swt) due to His love for you...

Picture this scenario of when we were kids and our fathers were harsh on us (as we thought) making us study than we would love to, disciplining us when we displease him and rewarding us when we please him, at our tender age we might not get the scope of the whole scene our fathers create promising us goodies if we get good grades and promising us punishment for getting bad grades, as we grow and our reasoning capacity develops we get to understand the idea behind the good time and bad time our father had promised us...At the end we get to know he had our best of interest and we get to love him and appreciate all the disciplinary methods used to shapen our future......

bear with me, am really bad with examples but i hope you get my point...

NB: Allah's love for us is greater than our fathers love because He stand to gain nothing from it i.r No Selfish Insterest conpare to our fathers who have it in mind to eat fruit of their labour...

There are several hadiths that show Allah(swt) loves his slaves particulary we human being..he favoured us over all his creations can you imagine even Angels who worship him 24/7...what does that tell you?

There is an hadith which states Allah is more happy than a man who lost and found his camel which had his provision while journeying through a desert when a slave of His comes to him repenting...how to describe that kind of love even though He is of no need of us...

Islam › KHUSHOO (HUMILITY) IN SALAAH by AgentXxx(op):
Salam aleikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh brothers and sisters in islam

In the Name of Allaah, Most Gracious Most Merciful

Praise be to Allaah, Lord of the Worlds, Who has said in His book “…and stand before Allaah with obedience” [al-Baqarah 2:238] and has said concerning the prayer“… and truly it is extremely heavy and hard except for al-khaashi’oon…’ [al-Baqarah 2:45];and peace and blessings be upon the leader of the pious, the chief of al-khaashi’oon, Muhammad the Messenger of Allaah, and on all his family and companions.

Salaah is the greatest of the practical pillars of Islam, and khushoo’ in prayer is required by sharee’ah. When Iblees, the enemy of Allaah, vowed to mislead and tempt the sons of Adam and said “Then I will come to them from before them and behind them, from their right and from their left…” [al-A’raaf 7:17] , one of his most significant plots became to divert people from salaah by all possible means and to whisper to them during their prayer so as to deprive them of the joy of this worship and cause them to lose the reward for it. As khushoo’ will be the first thing to disappear from the earth, and we are living in the last times, the words of Hudhayfah (may Allaah be pleased with him) are particularly pertinent to us: “The first thing of your religion that you will lose is khushoo’, and the last thing that you will lose of your religion is salaah. There may be a person praying who has no goodness in him, and soon you will enter the mosque and not find anyone who has khushoo’.” (al-Madaarij, 1/521).

Because of what every person knows about himself, and because of the complaints that one hears from many people about waswaas (insinuating thoughts from Shaytaan) during the salaah and the loss of khushoo’, the need for some discussion of this matter is quite obvious. The following is a reminder to myself and to my distinguished brothers and sisters, and I ask Allaah to make it of benefit....Amin

Allaah says “Successful indeed are the believers, those who offer their salaah (prayers) with all solemnity and full submissiveness.” [al-Mu’minoon 23:1-2] – i.e., fearing Allaah and in a calm manner. Khushoo’ means calmness, serenity, tranquillity, dignity and humility. What makes a person have this khushoo’ is fear of Allaah and the sense that He is always watching. (Tafseer Ibn Katheer, Daar al-Sha’b edn., 6/414). Khushoo’ means that the heart stands before the Lord in humility and submission. (al-Madaarij, 1/520).

It was reported that Mujaahid said: “…and stand before Allaah with obedience” [al-Baqarah 2:238] meaning – part of obedience is to bow, to be solemn and submissive, to lower one’s gaze and to humble oneself out of fear of Allaah, may He be glorified.” (Ta’zeem Qadr al-Salaah, 1/188).

The site of khushoo’ is the heart, and its effects are manifested in the physical body. The various faculties follow the heart: if the heart is corrupted by negligence or insinuating whispers from Shaytaan, the worship of the body’s faculties will also be corrupt. The heart is like a king and the faculties are like his troops who follow his orders and go where they are commanded. If the king is deposed, his followers are lost, which is like what happens when the heart does not worship properly.

Take for instance your boss gives you an assignment that needs to be done in a specific manner and completed before a set deadline. Then you receive the instructions, and glance over them hurriedly while thinking, ‘”Ah! Piece of cake, no problemo!” Then you go ahead and submit the assignment with an ear-to-ear grin thinking, “Great, gotten over with it right on time!” But then to your surprise, you are told that your work will not be accepted because your file is neither complete, nor does it comply with the instructions! It is deficient in every sense. Now you are in double trouble: not only have you run out of time, but your efforts have been wasted. Then the fear of not receiving that next salary. You come to realize that if you had paid attention to the instructions properly, you could have excelled in this simple assignment. A wise one would make sure to read, understand, and diligently follow the instructions next time rather than losing hope.

If we translate the above scenario into our salaah , we understand that the missing factor that prevents us from succeeding through in sal'aah assignment is humility or khushoo. By not understanding the importance of khushoo in our salaah, we risk rejection of this beautiful act of worship and may experience a decrease in our Iman.

Salaah is the key to our success in this world and the next. But if we do not look after this key or lose it, we’ll not be able to unlock the doors that lead to the good in this life and the next – it’s as simple as that. Poor quality of salaah is like not reaping full benefits of a powerful life management tool given to us by the Creator of Life Himself! Undoubtedly, when our salaah is in good condition, we’ll notice that all the other life affairs also naturally fall into their right places with ease, InshaAllah. Times of ease become more joyful and times of difficulties become easy, or at the very least become bearable.

Allah says : "It is the believers who are successful: those who are humble in their prayer” [ Al mumin 23:1-2]

Here are some practical tips to maintain khushoo

1.) Knowledge
Increase in Islamic knowledge; learn about Allah, tawheed, His Names and Attributes, and various aspects and sciences of the sunnah. Why? Because Allah says:

"it is only the learned amongst His servants who truly fear Allah”[Fatir :28]

With regards to gaining knowledge, even our Prophet had a teacher to understand the Deen of Allah: it was angel Jibrail . Therefore, we must seek knowledge under the guidance of Islamic teachers and scholars (without relying too much on Shaykh Google).

2.) On Time:
Pray on time and plan your life around salaah timings and not the other way around. Prioritize pleasing Allah over pleasing people. We can’t say, “But I have work, I have to meet so-and-so etc.” because before all of that came about, we already knew about our salaah timings; so that’s not a valid excuse. But in situations that are out of our control, such as an exam, try to ask the moderator if a few minutes can be allowed for salaah. That way we would have at least tried our best rather than not trying at all.

3.) Seek Refuge in Allah:
Seek refuge in Allah from Satan by saying “Aa-udhubillahi min As-Shaitanir Rajim” before starting the salaah and during the salaah too when needed. Also say Bismillah (In the name of Allah) before beginning the salaah.

4.) Be Mindful:
Contemporary psychologists use a very simple technique called “Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy” to help people stay focused in the present moment rather than being engrossed in foggy thoughts of past or future while losing touch with reality. It means to simply remind yourself to come back to the present moment as soon as you realize that your thoughts have drifted away from what is happening right now. With practice, InshaAllah we can benefit from this technique to maintain our khushoo. Start by being mindful of Allah when you make the intention for ablution; be attentive while doing the ablution; then recite the recommended dua after completing the ablution. At all times of the day, keep away from anything that makes you forget the remembrance of Allah. Satan will use various tricks and tactics to divert us, so we have to be aware of his methods. The moment you realize that the heart and mind have wandered off, try to bring your attention back. The more often you do this, the more your humility will improve insha Allah.

5.) Understand:
Read the tafsir (exegesis) of Surah Al Fatiha; understand each Ayah and pause in between. (Tafsir by Ibn Kathir is recommended.) Remember, well-begun is half done! Read translations to understand all the surahs that you recite during salaah. Try to offer Tahajjud and recite the Quran during those hours of the night, as that is a good time for understanding the words of Allah.

6.) Visualize:
Always try to remind yourself that you are standing in front of Allah , pray as though you see Him; and if you cannot do that, then be aware that He is definitely seeing you. As you recite, visualize the Arabic words of each surah. Do not close your eyes, but focus on the place of sujood.

7.) Never Stop:
Be wary of sticking to your salaah, particularly in times of distress – it will help a lot in dealing with the situation as mentioned in the Quran:

Seek Allah’s help with patient perseverance and prayer. It is indeed hard except for those who are humbly submissive.”[Al baqarah :45]

Help children develop their humility and concentration from a young age. Do not force them to offer salaah, rather inspire them to come to salaah.

8.) Good Pace:
Be attentive and relaxed by maintaining a good pace between salaah actions, giving a minimum of 5 seconds or more per action. Every time you say ‘Allahu Akbar’, say it from your heart. Make your sujood a bit longer than usual, recite duas in it and also before the final tasleem.

9.) It Could be the Last:
Before approaching salaah, remember the inevitable reality: death. Allah created us only to worship Him.Perform every salaah as you would perform your last salaah. We may not know when, but one day we will be praying our last one.

After each Salaah, develop a habit of reciting the supplications as recommended by our Prophet .

After reading this post and understanding what it says, it is really up to us to take a moment and step outside of our self, honestly analyze the quality of our Salaah, level of our Iman and the impact of these on our life as a whole. We’ll all agree that correct knowledge is absolutely lovely, but it will be of no use to anyone at all until we actually decide to implement what we now know. It is only then that knowledge becomes lovelier and in turn beautifies us from inside and out.

Do not lose hope or give up if these tips do not work at first or do not provide an immediate solution. Remember that the seed of khushu will grow only after a gentle rain of consistent reminders seep into the heart by Allah’s Will.

May Allah accept our ibadah and make us among the mutaqins [Amin]... Maa Salam

Islam › Re: Al-isti'adha: Seeking Protection From Satan by AgentXxx(m): 7:20am On May 01, 2015
Amin barakallahu fihi
AlBaqir:
The three types of Isti’adha
There are three ways the Isti’adha is done:

* There are persons who neither have the right spirit of doing Isti’adha nor are they aware of the meaning of the words of Isti’adha. But, all the same, as a force of habit, they utter the words: audhu billahi min ash-shaitanir rajeem. Unless the Isti’adha comes with feelings,understanding and from the heart, it becomes a satanic joke!

* There are persons who know the meanings and purport of the words of Isti’adha and are capable of saying them properly, but they haven’t the right feelings in their heart and also their actions are in obedience of Satan. Such Isti’adha will be for Satan rather than a submission to Allah for His protection against Satan!

* There is a third group of persons who say the words of Isti’adha from the depths of their hearts and are fully aware of their meaning, purport and spirit. These persons will be fully aware of the Greatness and Omnipotence of Allah. The Isti’adha of these persons will always get the accepted by Allah.

Isti’adha should emanate from the heart and not merely from the lips
To gauge the reality of Isti’adha, only saying audhu billahi min ash-shaitanir rajeem or saying its translation in one’s own language is absolutely insufficient. Isti’adha is a meaningful and spiritual condition that is conveyed by the words noted above. If Isti’adha is prompted from the heart of the person, then only it will be effective. Otherwise, just uttering the words would make one the play-thing of Satan.

Verily those who guard (themselves against evil) when an evil thought from Satan afflicts them, they become mindful (of God and get awakened) then lo! They are forthright" {Sura al-A’raaf, 7:201}

The meaning should be manifested by the words
Qur’an wants people to [fastaidh billah] seek Allah’s protection. This means that the words should not be repeated as a force of habit like the parrots. The reality requires one to seek freedom from the accursed Satan and submit to Allah for His help. If these two objectives are achieved, then the Isti’adha is really Isti’adha! Otherwise it will just be an exercise in futility. In a nutshell, when the words of the Isti’adha are uttered, it should be in the true spirit required of him.

When we consider carefully the spirit of Isti’adha, we find that it has five well-defined aspects:
1. Taqwa or piety.

2. Tadhakkur or remembrance of Allah.

3. Tawakkul or trust in Allah.

4. Ikhlas or sincerity.

5. Aajizi or humility towards Allah.

When a person practices all these five aspects, his Isti’adha will be accepted by Allah. Then the accursed Satan will remain a long distance away from the person whether he says audhu billahi min ash-shaitanir rajeem or not. In other words, when Satan comes to a mu’min he becomes scared of man as an ordinary human being gets scared of the company of Jinns.

Satan runs away from the men of piety
Verily those who guard (themselves against evil) when an evil thought from Satan afflicts them, they become mindful (of God and get awakened) then lo! They are forthright" {Sura al-A’raaf, 7:201}

When the men of piety have any fear from Satan, then they busy themselves in prayer and they instantaneously get enlightened. Therefore, the very first condition for keeping oneself safe from form Satan is to become pious. Those who adopted piety, busy themselves in prayer whenever they fears of Satan in their hearts. They get enlightened that Satan created the fears.

They also realize that Satan had fled because of their prayer and that they are in the protection of Allah. The ayat mentioned above is a pointer to the believers towards adoption of piety and remembrance of Allah.

Need for trust on Allah
Allah says in the Holy Qur’an:
"So when you recite the Qur’an, seek refuge with Allah from the accursed Shaitan, Surely he has no authority over those who believe and rely on their Lord" {Sura an‑Nahl, 16:98-99}

One who has trust in Allah, Shaitan will have no control on him. Satan can influence only those who don’t trust on Allah and all their confidence is on material and worldly aspects of their lives. If the same person has trust on Allah, then Satan becomes helpless in his maneuvers.

When a person doesn’t trust Allah from the depths of his heart, then all his pleadings for protection will be of no avail. According to the verse quoted above, Satan would gain ascendance over him. In the later verse of the Qur’an there is a reference towards this aspect:
Verily, his authority is only over those who befriend him and those who associate others with Him" {Sura an-Nahl, 16:100}

One who has forgotten the Munificent Allah and befriended Satan, he has no concern for Isti’adha or seeking protection from Satan.

Satan has nothing to do with the sincere people
Another important aspect of Isti’adha is sincerity. This saying of Satan is recorded in the Holy Qur’an:
He said: Then by Thy Might I will surely make them live an evil life, all, Except Thy servants from among them, the purified ones" {Sura Sad, 38:82-83}

The purport of sincerity (Ikhlas) has been explained at various places in the Holy Qur’an. As the need arose, we have referred to this aspect in our talk and there is further need to stress on this aspect.

Thus it is established that the Isti’adha of only the persons sincere to Allah (S.w.T.) is appropriate. Since Satan has no influence on such persons they are those who escape from his machinations.

Do we have the capability of Piety (Taqwa) and Remembrance (Tadhakkur) of Allah?
After living long years we have not drawn any benefit from knowledge of the Faith. May Allah protect us from compounded ignorance (Jahl al-Murakkab). We have earlier said that the first aspect of Isti’adha is Taqwa or piety. One who has not adopted taqwa, will not be able to escape from Satan. Only with piety one can keep out of the clutches of Satan.

A woman who can come to the bazār wearing indecent dress is satanic from head to toe! And the man who chaperons such a woman in public can never escape from the attention of Satan.

It goes to prove that one who doesn’t save himself from what is forbidden (haram) can never prevent himself from the influence of Satan.

If a person dwells in a usurped house, he cannot escape from Satan unless he quits the occupation of that house. If a person is in habit of doing prohibited things, he cannot do Isti’adha.

Illegitimate sustenance is the biggest impediment in the way of Isti’adha
The important aspects of Isti’adha are absolute piety and total abstinence from prohibited things. Having prohibited (Haram) food renders the entire body of the person satanic. He becomes attached to Satan because Satan’s blood flows in the veins of the person.

The tongue with which such a person says audhu billahi min ash-shaitanir rajeem, is in fact, the tongue of Satan. The reason for this is that the person has drawn nutrition from satanic food.

The Prophet (S) has been reported to have said: “Allah sees your hearts and not your faces.”. This proves that mere talking and arguing might have some effect on people but for Allah nothing has any weight other than the absolute facts.

Therefore, about the sacrifices that we make in the way of Allah, the Holy Book categorically says:
"There does not reach Allah their flesh nor their blood, but to Him is acceptable the guarding (against evil, Taqwa) on your part..." {Sura al-Hajj, 22:37}

Until the last vestiges of Haram are not removed Isti’adha is not possible
As long as even one morsel of Haram food is in the body of a person, he is himself like Satan. Beating drums seeking protection from Satan is his hypocrisy. As long as he is not able to shake away the influence of Satan from his person, all his prayers are mere pretences.

About rizq al-halal (legitimate food) there are several traditions of Ahl al Bayt (a.s.). Rizq al-Halal is like a seed on which the quality of the plant will depend. Care must be exercised pure and good seed to ensure the health and sturdiness of the tree. Allah says in the Holy Qur’an:
"O men! Eat the lawful and good things out of what is in the earth, and do not follow the footsteps of the Shaitan; surely he is your open enemy" {Sura al-Baqara, 2:168}

Abstain from doubtful food
When one has doubt about the food being halal, he should rather abstain from eating it.

Avoid using Haram food and clothes. The use of these will have such deleterious effect on the person that he becomes the victim of fears and doubts.
