I think the worst of these riots are over now. I have switched my summer plans back on. If you ,like me, love schadenfreude, then we are both in for a treat watching these mouthbreathers get banged up in jail.

These riots made me have a rethink of my place in this country ( am I wanted,is there a future for me etcetera) but, after watching the quick reaction from the government and the massive outpouring of support from the people of the UK,I feel secure once again.
It will take a while to heal the wounds from the riots and some of our children may never forget it but it is hoped that the wrath of the state visited on these miscreants will start to sew these wounds together.please feel free to share your own thoughts on this unfortunate events and the best way to heal as a community.

Having said that, I ve read from quite a few people on here that Zahra's views are right and the problem was the timing.

If I m not mistaken,her contention is that the rioters have legitimate grievances for the violence visited on all of us this past week. That they have been victims of deprivation,poverty directly linked to us immigrants. And that is why they decided to maim us and destroy livelihoods .

I say that is not true. I have no powers except that vested in me by occupying the office of the citizen. I pay my taxes dutifully and work in the public service of this country. No-one in the country could be found to do my job when I migrated(still can't be replaced even now).I haven't taken any jobs.i make no policies.
If anything, I am also a victim of deprivation and poverty directly linked to disastrous government policies.

You can now see why I have an issue with the content of her messaging.

I am totally in agreement with the first two paragraphs but like you stated the government and good people of Britain has assured that those thugs do not represent them.

On Zahra29 point

There is a difference betweeen having a point in a discussion and being right. In the aspect of the underlying issues, I totally agree with her, I am a science student and a law in physic states that “For every action, there is a reaction”. the debate now moves to “is that the right channel the reaction is to be directed to?” and I believe this is exactly Zahra29’s view and not like she is supporting their violence attitude when she is also prone to be a victim.

The situation can be likened to a father/mother who had a bad day at work probably due to a bad manager then arrives home and transfers aggression to his/her kids. Is the father right? No!!! But is there an underlying cause if looked into that could potentially stop such reaction? Yes! Either the father/mother stands up with the oppressive boss/leave the job/ learn to manage their emotion.

I hope I have been able to shed a bit of light to what u understand about Zahra29’s point raised.

The main issue people are having with your comment which you seems not to grab is the timing of your arguments. It should come later when it is all calm and not at the moment when POC are living in fear being harmed or maimed.

If your family were in the position of harm during this riot, I believe you wouldn’t come here defending why they were being attacked.

An important aspect of emotional intelligence is timing.

1) CRM(Customer Relationship Manager) right? This isn’t specifically IT related except you are working for a tech company but it is still marketing related. Saas(Software as a service) is not a part of IT but a name for a service.

There are various Saas applications and this depends largely on the organisation. We used a lots in my organisation among them are FreshService, Dropbox, M365 etc. you can learn all.

My advise is to figure what part of tech you want to go into then do recognised courses related to it.

Thanks for this great input. His business is registered and he does annual tax returns but doesn’t pay himself which I plan on making him start this month end.

He is eager to witness a climate different to the typical Nigeria weather so it was his choice to come during winter 😌

Do you have an idea how much he would need to sponsor himself? We should be able to get a SOA (within 4months) to support this as he also gets income from rents.

For his business, he needs tax receipts,financial statements that show enough turnover to justify his salary from his business.
Have you got those?then don't mention his business.

2nd way is to sponsor him. His ties in that case will be his young family. He is retired and focused on parenting his toddler while his wife works outside the home.
He is family focused and keeps an eye on all his children even the adult ones.
Thats how I would sell it to the EO to come over in December which is just 4 months away.

While this arrangement is common here,it's unusual at home and you would need to sell it very hard to the EO who may not buy it.

3rd and best option: postpone till spring. He should register his business and pay tax then pay himself a salary.
You pay him a stipend regularly. Enough for him to sponsor himself .

It ll be spring then too and better weather

I don’t really the tax receipts are necessary ohh.. my mum has visited the uk twice to pay me a visit. Shes a business owner. On both occasions i declared her business and claimed she was paying hereelf like 300k every month. The only SOA i had to submit on her part was the account where she was receiving 300k monthly. I have never included an account of the business nor any tax receipts.

Lastly after all the above, i always add my statements because i always let the ECO know that i am sponsoring her fully.

As for the ties, we have evidence that would cover like his business as you suggest plus properties, and also I have a step sister (who is just 2yrs) and step mother who I believe should strengthen his tie back home. Won’t they be an enquiry to his savings? Also what is needed to prove his business? Like how much would I need to show to to be submitted and would it be in form of a statement of account? If Yes, how many months?

Boss. I think your Dad can even use his savings as POF, and you mention in the application that you'll be covering the expenses for his trip. Maybe you need to add other stuff (including the business) as tires to Nigeria.

Tbh, we haven’t decided yet but anyone whose finance would make the visa application easy and straightforward. kindly advise on the best method.

I am trying to bring my dad to visit by December. He runs his own business and he hasn’t been paying himself (typical of Nigerian sole proprietor business owners). Now I need advise on how to rectify his finance for his visa application. How many months of statements would need to be submitted as I was thinking of making him open an account and start paying from his company’s account at least 500k to 1m as savings for his travel. Would this work out? Or is there a better way of proving his finance? Your advise is sincerely sought after.

UPDATE on Visa switch within the uk after curtailment

After a year plus in the uk with an unreliable employer that brought us in. No shifts, excuses, pregnancy redundancy etc. sought for cos for over a year and we no see. Decided to back down. Shockingly the employer curtailed our leaved without prior information. Para entered body as we have kids, properties etc. the day the we got the email from home office with 4 attachments of the curtailment letters, I was shocked, couldn't work, lost hope felt like my life has been cut short.
I came back home and told my wife that we MUST get cos within 7days if we apply the same strategy we used when we got from Nigeria. We swung into action, met a solicitor in London, that one too carry more para join our existing para say make we use our uk born baby get papers bla bla bla. I went through all the immigration laws, council website, citizen advice and even found out a help on it for displaced carers etc. from same website, it took me to another website that showed licenced health and care employers in the uk only. I had to add some tech skills in my search, applying to every part of uk from England to northern Ireland to Scotland to wales and gracefully I got this employer that is leaving 30 mins walk away from us, listened to our story, had interview and gave offer followed by a cos without a dime. Infact we told the employer we would pay isc after it was assigned, employer no gree I started suspecting the COS sef. All of these happened within 5 days. The employer assigned the cos and kept quiet. After like 3 more days we asked the employer about the way forward and employer said it has been done. We said ah ah, send us the document naaa, boom email entered and it was it. Employer hasn't done it before and we appeared to be the first to be assigned by the company, lots of mistakes including sub category, work duration (1 year then corrected to 3 years) and missing ISC charge. Sponsor note was added and we applied with priority as our 60 days is already counting down. Then emailed isc admin and business helpdesk including work sponsor team concerning the isc error and the payment ref that was made after the error. They acknowledged the email within 24 and telling us they have returned our application to case work and Within another 24 hours case worker approved it. Its been about 17days from the time of curtailment to successful application. From the time of visa application to approval was just 3 days with priority and id app identity check.
I am happy to share this post.
I hope this answers some people's question here on NL.

Did the Crowdstrike/Microsoft Outage affect anyone in here. Grateful it was minimal for us but I read that Airports, Hospitals, and many organisations most especially in Australia were crippled.

He has been terminated yesterday and my manager told me the reason which he didn’t tell me earlier. He slagged me to some colleagues at work using offensive words like C*** etc and those one reported to HR which is automatic termination according to HR policy. I was even pitying him before I was told his offence and I let him leave with some IT peripherals I purchased for him. He did send me a text this morning apologising. We are out looking for a replacement.

Hello everyone,

In April, an employee was hired to directly report to me, in the past few weeks, I noticed he is always slow to respond to tickets, make so much errors which I have been covering his ass for, spends loads of time surfing the internet for music related stuffs including elections stuffs, listen loudly to music and would have to tap him to communicate with him. whenever this is pointed out to him, he is defensive, he lashes out that he is being micromanaged. is this really being micro managed? What is the best line of action to this? Even though I did sent a report of this to my line manager the IT Director last night and also have minute of our 121 meeting documented(with some of this issues mentioned).

NOTE: He is yet to pass probation in which review will be in about 2weeks.

Update on Lazy Direct Line

I reached out to HR Director with evidences as advised by a colleague since my manager was a bit defensive for the guy and HR did agree on an extension for him which my manager reluctantly accepted.

Twist of this story is that last week Wednesday, my manager reached out and told me they were terminating his contract in a week time tomorrow but the reason will be made known to me after his termination. Since then I haven’t kinda feeling pity for him as the brother just recently told me “he has been surviving and just started living in London since he started the job.

My two confusion is why was he careless about the opportunity? What could have fueled the drastic decision from HR and my manager to terminate instead of extending ? 😓


I have been WFH since last week as I kinda feel pity for the young lad as he doesn’t seems to know what is coming for him and tbh, he improved overall since about two weeks ago even though that could be a pretence due his probation review coming up.

I was thinking about of stepping up for him as my manager said if I would vouch for him, he would be considered for extension.

Good to know no body injuries and thanks for sharing this information.

After more than 6yrs of driving in the Youkay, we had our first major car *incident* and all the lessons learnt from this thread flew out the window .

A car rammed into us in the middle of the road, and we panicked and moved due to our kids being in the car at the time (no regrets as something worse could have happened).

But in retrospect, we should have stayed calm and see how to take pictures,videos etc at that instant and most importantly get a personal dashcam in the car.

Now we need to split the blame due to lack of evidence, which means half of our excess payment is lost, our NCB for the year lost (protected 4yrs NCB thankfully), lost time following up with calls etc and the anxiety of increased premium and getting good insurance deals.

Lesson learnt, so please get a dashcam if you can to save the headache of having to prove whodunnit#

Same thing we observed while we purchased beans imported from Nigeria. We have moved to beans imported from our friendly English neighbour and it seems to be better with no crazy smell even thought we still par boil for some minutes.
