NO fewer than 97 students of the University of Ibadan have been withdrawn by the Senate of the institution. According to the bulletin of the university, the withdrawal of the students, which has been approved by the Senate, failed to obtain the minimum academic requirements at the end of the 2014/15 session. The affected students were from seven faculties in the institution. Some of the students were in final year. The bulletin, which was signed by the Registrar, Olujimi Olukoya explained that three of the students voluntarily withdrew from the institution. It states, “Senate at its meeting approved that the candidates whose names appear on this list should withdraw from the University for failure to obtain the minimum academic requirements at the end of 2014/2015 session.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/02/ui-rusticates-97-students-over-poor-performance/ |

THE Senate yesterday uncovered N5 billion shortfall in the amount allocated as meal subsidy for Unity Schools across the country as well as personnel cost of Kings College in the 2016 budget proposal submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari. According to the Senate, only N6.8 billion was proposed for meal subsidy in unity school, instead of N11.2 billion needed. It also noted that the amount was grossly inadequate for the Unity Schools meal subsidy, adding that implication was that the amount provided would only serve for six months, after which N5 billion would be needed to meet up with the shortfall. Disclosing this yesterday during collation of the 2016 budget of Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education to the Senate Committee on Appropriation, Vice Chairman of Committee on Education, Senator Rose Oko, said there was the omission of N338 million from the personnel cost of Kings College, adding that instead of N375 million, the ministry budgeted N37 million due to typographical error. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/02/education-budget-senate-uncovers-n5bn-shortfall-for-meal-subsidy/ |
THEAll Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State and the Ekiti State government were, yesterday, engaged in war of words over the alleged manipulation of the electoral process that gave Governor Ayodele Fayose victory in the June 21, 2014 governorship election. Fayose While the Ekiti State APC appealed to the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, to prosecute Governor Fayose; a former Ekiti State Mopol Commander, Gabriel Selekere; Assistant Inspector General of Police, Bala Nasarawa, who oversaw the conduct of the election, Ekiti State government, on its part, said the Supreme Court has ended the party’s pipedream on Fayose’s victory. In a statement by its state chairman, Chief Olajide Awe, the party said its petition followed a leak of a secret audio recording by Captain Sagir Koli, of the 32nd Artillery Brigade in Ekiti State two days to the election. Awe, in a petition entitled: “Criminal Complaint Conspiracy, Bribery, Threats and Use of Military to Perpetuate Electoral Fraud Against the People of Ekiti State; and investigation of the role of the Nigerian Police Force in the Ekiti State Gubernatorial Elections June 21, 2014,” said the party brought the IGP’s attention to the content of the audio tape detailing criminal acts planned by those mentioned or whose voices were captured in the tape. The party alleged that on February 8, 2015, the audio recording capturing the voices of Fayose, Commander of 32 Artillery Brigade, Bri-Gen Aliyu Momoh; Senator Iyiola Omisore, Police Affairs Minister, Jelili Adesiyan; Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro and others, at a meeting where they conspired and strategised to rig the June 21 governorship election was released to the public. Awe, however, said: “the import of this audio recording is the revelations of criminal acts, which were planned and perpetrated by these men. Besides, he alleged that “The above listed persons conspired to tamper with the constitutionally laid-down procedure for the conduct of election. The Ekiti APC also called on Arase to investigate the roles of the police in the alleged election fraud unprofessional conduct bordering on alleged dishonesty and violations of the code of ethics of the Nigerian Police Force. Stop living in illusion— Fayose In his reaction, Special Assistant to the Ekiti State Governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka said yesterday’s Supreme Court judgment on the leadership dispute within the Anambra State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in which the court said it lacked jurisdiction to review its own judgment should be enough for members of the APC in Ekiti State to stop living in the illusion that the Supreme Court judgment on the June 21, 2014 governorship election can be reviewed. He said the judgment ended the APC’s pipedream of returning to power through an orchestrated review of the Supreme Court judgment that validated Governor Ayodele Fayose’s election. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/02/2014-ekiti-poll-apc-wants-igp-to-prosecute-fayose-indicted-officers/ |

ATTENTION! ATTENTION!! The attention of Management has been drawn to the alleged printing of Callup Letters by PCMs. Please note that its a SCAM and every necessary measure has been taken to arrest the situation. Accordingly, all Callup numbers earlier displaying on dashboards and on printed green card slips of PCMs that registered with payment, has been substituted with new Callup numbers, which has been sent to the PCMs via SMS. Therefore the second Callup number is now the valid & authentic Callup number. Also note that printing of green card details has been temporarily disabled and Callup number is no longer on display on their respective dashboards as part of measures to curtail the scam of the alleged printing of Callup Letters. Note that all PCMs that registered with payment will receive an SMS notification of their Callup numbers. The date for printing of Callup Letters is contained in the 2016 Batch 'A' Mobilization Time Table online. Kindly disseminate the information & officers in charge of GSM Support Lines should take note. Thank you. For Director ICT |
