A Final year student of the Cross Rivers University of Technology CRUTECH, was shot dead this morning at about 11.30am shortly after he finished his final year first semester examination.

He was said to have been stepping out of the examination hall when he was accosted by some fierce looking men who shot him at close range. The men fled the scene immediately.

Students of the institution believe it is a cult-related murder.

The remains of the deceased has been taken to the state mortuary. More details later.

Emma Ibediro, the All Progressives Congress' national organizing secretary, has stated that Igbo Presidency is not a right.



Condemning the outright call for Igbo Presidency from the South-East region he is also from, Emma Ibediro said only a zone that has worked within party lines to convince other regions can actualise their dream of ruling Nigeria.

“In 2015, only 198,000 votes came in from the entire south-east. In 2019, we had a little above 400,000,” he told The Nation. “Some people will say that it is an improvement. What type of improvement is that? You can imagine Anambra state, for example, bringing in less than 50,000 votes when our members in that state are over 200,000.

“What it means is that even APC members did not vote for our President. Igbo presidency is not a right, just like Hausa presidency is not a right and Yoruba presidency is not a right. Igbo presidency can only become possible if you work within the party and convince the rest of Nigerians to produce a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction.

“For instance, in the APC, you have to work within the party and with every other member of the party, either from North-west, North-east or from Northcentral or the Southwest and then we must come to the conclusion that as an individual, you can have the confidence of Nigerians to become their president.

“The fact that you are from South-east of from any other area is neither here or there. So, if the people from the South-east are aspiring to become Nigeria’s president, I think the first thing to do is to work within the party and then get the rest of Nigerians to accept them for that position. So, I believe that it is not a right. That is what I would say.

“I don’t want to be emphatic that there must be an Igbo President because this party is not built on the platform of dictating to the people what they want. If you check the percentage of population of members of APC and check the population of Nigerians, you will see that all members of the party are even less than five per cent of the population and we are talking about a president that will be a president of Nigeria, not a president of APC.

“So, first of all, under whatever platform you want to achieve that aspiration, you have to work to get yourself acceptable to that platform. It is not going to be an automatic award that Nigerians should give South-east ticket for the president.

“What happens if the APC gives ticket automatically to somebody from the South-east and he doesn’t win the very election? Have you considered that? The south-east needs to play good politics, the politics of engagement, the politics of consultation, the politics of getting the other parts of Nigeria involved in their aspirations.

“But for now I don’t think we are playing good politics. It is a question of give and take, I’m an Igbo man and I need to be very objective. The President campaigned in all the five states of the South-east, just like he campaigned in every other states. But what was the return in terms of votes?

“You also need to encourage people to do something for you. You cannot at every point be asking for something without giving something back.”

Bettie Jenifer, the wife of popular Ghanaian actor, Chris Attoh, has reportedly been shot dead while leaving her office in Maryland in the United States of America.

Bettie Jenifer according to reports was shot dead by unknown gunman on Friday evening around 5pm and was pronounced dead when police arrived at the scene of the crime.

Jenifer left the office in the 6300 block of Ivy Lane and was walking to her car when a man armed with a handgun approached her.

The former governor and now Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amechi, was allegedly caught in audio saying ‘the President doesn’t read’.

There was serious panic in Port-harcourt as the residents woke up this morning and stumbled upon two human heads wrapped in a polythene bag dumped at Choba junction.

The residents who were to go about their normal day-to-day activities raised alarm on seeing the two human heads wrapped in a polythene bag at Choba junction.

Investigations are still ongoing to ascertain the circumstances leading to the death and dumping of the two human heads remain unknown.

Agvictor.com gathered that the heads were discovery around 7a.m this morning. This is coming after it was reported that the killing of the Paramount Ruler of Elibrada community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, Eze Oha Augustine Amadionu, in his palace by suspected cultists, reportedly threw the entire community into panic.

Meanwhile, Police have paraded 5 suspected ritualists caught with 11 human skull, various human bones, among others at Aromaradu Area, Adewole Ilorin.

The state Commissioner of Police, Aminu Saleh disclosed this on Friday, while parading the suspects at the police headquarters in Ilorin.

A 9-month-old baby girl has died due to the inhuman acts at the hands of her caretaker’s husband in Bandar Baru Bangi, Malaysia.

The victim, Nur Muarzara Ulfa Muhammad Zaina, fondly called Zara, was raped, sodomised and abused before falling into critical condition.

Kajang police chief ACP Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said the victim died at 10.30 am last Friday after being admitted for two days at the Serdang Hospital.

“Based on the statement of the victim’s mother, when she was sent to the caretaker’s home in the morning, the victim was in good health. However, the victim was said to have suffered from shortness of breath in the afternoon and was rushed to the Bandar Baru Bangi Clinic, before being referred to the Serdang Hospital.

“Further examination on the victim found a tear on the victim’s hymen, and a subsequent examination found that the victim’s anus was also torn,” he said in a statement on Saturday.

Ahmad Dzaffir said the post-mortem by the Serdang Hospital’s Pathology Department found that the victim’s death was due to a “Blunt Impact to the Head” whereby the baby’s skull was fractured.

“There were also bruises found on the top left and right sides of the victim’s head,” he said.

According to him, the victim’s parents who lived in the same housing estate as the caretaker had sent their child there since September.

A 3-year-old baby got strangled in an uncompleted building after the mother left her to buy food items in the market this morning. 

The baby reportedly left the room while playing and climbed the stires to the unsecured balcony. While at the balcony her cloth got trapped by rod and was strangled to death on the  process .

No fewer than 14 persons have lost their lives Plateau State fresh attack on Thursday night.

According to Channels TV report, the said attack which occurred on Thursday night, September 27, claimed the lives of one child, five men and eight women.

Residents alleged that security officials failed to respond when the killings was happening, until Friday morning, September 28.

Angery youths of the community on Friday morning took to the streets, protesting against the late response of the military.

The protesters mounted barricades preventing motorists and passers-by from accessing the road, but troops of the Operation Safe Haven moved into the area and cleared the barricade.

The tension was said to have spread to Gada Biu, Katako, Farin Gada and the Jos main market as traders and shop owners have closed to avoid any vandalism by hoodlums.

Also, with bootstrapping, you won’t have the added pressure and risk of an investor boss hanging over your shoulder and second-guessing your every move.

A coalition has urged António Guterres, United Nations secretary-general to strip ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo of all his associations with the UN, including his recent role as a member of the UN high-level advisory board on mediation.

In a letter dated September 18, the coalition made up of Nigerian and South African nationals said Obasanjo is unfit for the new role as well as other related ones as a result of his “bad” precedents.

Members of the coalition include Ademola Araoye, former head of office for the Consolidation of Democratic Governance (United Nations Mission In Liberia, UNMIL); Essop Pahad, a former South African minister; Kunle Ajibade, executive editor, TheNEWS/PM NEWS; and Garth Le Pere, extraordinary professor of international relations, University of Pretoria, South Africa.

Guterres had appointed Obasanjo into the panel which consists of 18 global leaders in 2017.

In the letter, they said Obasanjo is not fit to rescue Africa or the world as a result of his “sordid” profile both in the public and private sectors.

“The United Nations should be protected from contamination from the likes of Obasanjo, whose life career has been antithetical to the Charter of the United Nations and has undermined the ethics and values of this great organisation,” the letter read.

“This protection is required in order for the United Nations to remain a highly valued, constructive partner of the peoples of the continent, and to be perceived as such by African peoples. Given his character, the controversial history and debilitating outcomes of his personal involvement in Nigerian affair, Obasanjo has been publicly declared as unfit to lead a mission to rescue Nigeria and restore the nation to sanity.

“Given this profile, we affirm that his association with the United Nations is a grave error fraught with potentially incalculable harm to the already fragile ethical fabric and upended value systems of not just Nigeria but the totality of African society.

“And in view of the dangers implicit in the association of Obasanjo with the United Nations both to the organization, Africa and Nigeria, and indeed the world in its entirety, it is our hope that as Secretary General, you would, as a matter of priority, nullify this unmerited association of your highly valued organization and historic partner of Africa with an immoral man possessed of stout anti-democratic credentials.”

They cited alleged extrajudicial killings carried out “under Obasanjo’s watch”, including the death of Bola Ige, one-time attorney general of the federation, the killing of “over 300 unarmed Nigerian university students and innocent civilians” during his tenure as military head of state as well as the Odi massacre in which hundreds were also killed.

According to the coalition, “there is an associated nagging question pertinent to Obasanjo’s appointment which is: would anyone with Olusegun Obasanjo’s public and private profile be considered fit to represent any other continent apart from Africa?

“We do not want to be persuaded by the cynicism of those who argue that Obasanjo’s appointment is a reflection of deep-seated contempt for Africa and Africans … The impression should not be created that a paucity of sterling intellectual and moral actors in the public realm exists on the continent.”

They added that Africa is blessed with men and women with “impeccable records” and that “the choice of any of them will serve as an inspiration, not only to Africans but to the world.

“The likes of Olusegun Obasanjo should not be promoted as role models in Africa by United Nations. In the light of the above, we ask that you do the United Nations and Africa, as well as its future generations, a favor by revoking all association of the United Nations with Olusegun Obasanjo.”

Two suspected armed robbers met their end yesterday 23rd of September in Opolo Community in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The suspects were caught by villagers and beaten to death with stones after robbing their victim with a locally made pistol.

A couple and their four children, on Tuesday night, were reportedly burnt in a gas explosion in their residence at No 30 Izundu road, Abubo Nnewichi in Nnewi North LGA of Anambra State.

The incident which occurred at about 6.15pm, was said to have emanated from a cooking gas cylinder which ignited fire in their 3-bed room flat residence.

The victims, Mr Ebube Okeke, 40, his wife, Chioma, 32, together with their four kids, between the ages of three and nine, were at the first floor apartment of the two-storey building when the explosion occurred.

A resident, who simply gave her name as Justina, said the sound of the explosion reverberated across the premises, which sent everybody scampering for safety.

“There was a gas leakage from the cylinder at the apartment, but when it was noticed by the father who tried to stop it, it was already at an exploding point and immediately went off.

“The explosion pulled down the walls of the apartment and extended to other sections of the building with some other occupants sustaining degrees of burns,” she added.

She however said men of fire service arrived much later when the situation had already been brought under control by neighbors.

The Nation gathered that the victims were initially rushed to Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi, but were later referred to Enugu Orthopedic Hospital following high degree of burns.

Confirming the incident, the State Police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, said Police patrol team led by DPO Otolo Division, Uro Justin, had since visited the scene.

He said the area was cordoned off to prevent hoodlums from taking advantage of the situation, adding that investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident had commenced.

“The Command enjoins members of the public to always apply safety precautions when using cooking gas cylinders to avoid recurrence of similar ugly incident,” he added.

As the Nigerian judiciary enters a new legal year, a new directive to help ensure justice in the build up to the 2019 elections has been issued.

The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Adamu Kafarati, on Monday directed judges to put a stop to the use of ex-parte orders in political.

An ex-parte order is a directive which a court could grant without necessarily hearing from both parties involved in a matter.

The directive, coming months before the 2019 general elections, is expected to have significant effects on the array of politically related cases expected to spring forth in the approaching electoral season.

Explaining the reason for the directive, Mr Kafarati said his decision was motivated by the need to curb the hiccups blamed on the courts from the actions of political gladiators.

“I have during this vacation issued a circular that interim orders ex-parte shall not be granted in any political cases brought before the court. I believe that controversies can be reduced when the court takes a decision after hearing all the parties especially in political cases,” he said.

The directive was given on Monday at the opening of the 2018/2019 legal year, following two months of vacation by the courts.

The outspoken Nigerian Senator, Shehu Sani, has advised the newly appointed director-general of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Magaji Bichi, to be cautious of politicians.

Senator Shahu gave the advice in a congratulatory message to the new DSS boss via twitter on Friday, September 14.He also urged the new director general to respect the rule of law, obey court orders, end kidnapping in the country and improve welfare of operatives among others.

Meanwhile, the appointment of Yusuf Magaji Bichi as the new director-general of the DSS is generating mixed reactions from Nigerians across different social and political divides.

While some believe that the appointment is a welcomed development, premising their argument on the competence of the new DG, others accuse the president of tribalism in his choice of the new DG.

A South African based Nigerian, Chinedu Okibe, was found found naked and dead in his home in South Africa.

The body of a Nigerian man was found dead in his home in South Africa, and the story surrounding his death is quite mysterious.

Chinedu Okibe, an Igbo father living in South Africa, was found half naked, lying face down, in his room. A video shared online by friends who went into his house to find his dead body shows the house in complete disarray, as though the house was invaded by an attacker.

But according to the voice in the video, they do not believe Chinedu was killed physically. They believe his death is spiritual.

According to Kamuche who shared the video, Chinedu was in debt and his creditor sent a spirit from a shrine to collect the debt, ending in his death. Kamuche also claims that shortly before his death, Chinedu called his pastor, known as Pastor Tony, crying, informing him that he is naked and begging him for prayers.

The audio of the call between Chinedu and Pastor Tony is reportedly being circulated on social media.

A 43-year-old Mr. Victor Achidume, a financier of Magico Football Academy, Agege, was on Monday arrested by police officers in Lagos for allegedly shaving the pubic hair of five teenage boys, and giving them between N100 and N200 afterwards.

The suspect was nabbed after one of the children identified as Oluwaseun fell sick and told his parents the suspect had shaved his pubic hair six times.

The sick Oluwasuen disclosed that the last time Mr. Achidume shaved his private part and armpit on May 9, adding that he usually warned him not to tell his parents any time he carried out the act.

According to Oluwaseun, “We do not belong to his team. We met him during a football match and he invited us to his house. He used to talk about football to us and he used to dash us N100 or N200. He told us to be coming to his house every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I went with my friends the first time. He asked me if I had shaved my armpit and private part before and I said no. And then, he shaved it. He was talking about football as he was doing it. Then, he said I should not tell anyone and that I should be coming to his place to collect N100.”

Isaiah Chukwu, 35, a spare parts dealer in Ladipo, Oshodi, lived with his 26-year-old lover, identified only as Joy, in a house on Balogun Street, Oshodi.

Though not married, Chukwu and Joy, both indigenes of Ebonyi State, had been living together for the past two years without the man paying her dowry or doing the traditional marriage or church wedding.

All seemed smooth in their relationship until Chukwu traveled, then called Joy on the phone, only to hear another man's voice.



He concluded Joy was cheating on him and when he returned to Lagos, he stabbed her to death and hid her body in his room for four days. He then declared her missing.

To dispose of the body, Chukwu stuffed his victim into a bin with her legs tied, and then he put the bin in a sack and knotted the top. At about 4.00AM on Monday, he dragged the sack containing the body to go dump it but as he got to the ground floor of the house he was accosted by some youths.

The suspicious youths asked what the content of the sack was but the suspect ignored them. An Islamic cleric passing by then opened the sack and found the corpse. At this, the mob pounced on the suspect and beat him to a pulp. He was rescued by the police and was also arrested. He has confesses to the crime.

Professor Samuel Gowon Edoumiekumo, who until his elevation was the Acting Vice Chancellor of the Institution.

The appointment of Prof. Edoumiekumo is sequel to the recommendation of the Governing Council of the institution, after a comprehensive process for the appointment of a Vice Chancellor.

The new Vice Chancellor holds two doctorate degrees in Economics from the prestigious University òf Nigeria, Nsukka and the University of Port Harcourt.

The erudite Professor has occupied several key positions in the NDU and rose through the ranks to become the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University in 2017, a position he effectively occupied until his appointment as the substantive Vice Chancellor.

The Governor is of the view that, a tested, competent and committed academic be in charge of the university, especially at this critical moment, when reforms are being introduced to transform the institution into a world class university.

The governor calls for support for the new Vice Chancellor and the governing council.

He also gave the assurance that the State Government will not relent in its avowed commitment to support NDU to make it one of the best universities as shown by the ongoing projects in the institution.

Government will support and invest massively in infrastructural development in the institution and ensure the completion of all ongoing projects in the university in record time.

Kanye West has just released a new song to defend his support of US President Donald Trump.

In a track titled Ye vs. The People feat. TI, Kanye argued with TI about his support for Trump. The song acts as a political debate between the two rappers. TI represented the people who disagree with Kanye. He took Kanye to task over his support of Donald Trump and Kanye defended his decision to support Trump.

In spite of the backlash he faced from friends and fans for declaring his love and support for Trump, Kanye has refused to back down. If anything, he has doubled efforts to defend his support for the controversial US President.

Defending his position, Kanye says he is ultimately "aligning with love", but T.I. explains that his actions are selfish because of his huge impact on his fans and also that Trump's political agenda stems more from hate than love.

"You representin' dudes who seem crude and cold-hearted," argues T.I., adding that West is emboldening "white supremacy".

But Kanye stands his ground, insisting that he's "fighting for the people".

Senator Dino Melaye recall exercise was characterised by low turn out of the petitioners.

As at the close of the exercise on Saturday, no polling unit was said to have recorded 50 per cent verified signatures of the total names on the register.

The recall process which was supposed to go the other way suffered a major setback, the individuals who reportedly signed his petition letter refused to turn out for verification by INEC on Sunday, April 28th.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had on Saturday, conducted a verification exercise in 552 out of the 560 polling units in the seven local government areas that make up Kogi West

Recall that the faceoff between Dino and the state governor, Yahaya Bello, took a different turn some months back when some members of Dino's constituency, Kogi West senatorial district, launched his recall process, an action allegedly sponsored by the state governor.

Despite the fact that Melaye was being admitted at the intensive care unit of the National Hospital and also placed on arrest by the Nigerian Police; the exercise in Kogi West was said to have witnessed a low turnout.

Deji Adeyanju, a human rights activist who was on ground to witness the recall process, said the exercise was characterised by low turn out of the petitioners.

Hon. James Abiodun Faleke representing Ikeja Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. James reacted to the verification exercise.

Aside the apathy that marred the exercise, officials of INEC were also said to have witnessed protests from electorate in some council areas, who said they were surprised to find their names and purported signatures on the said recall register.

Reacting to the seemingly failed exercise, Hon. Faleke, who was the deputy to the Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the 2016 election in Kogi, late Abubakar Audu; carpeted Governor Yahaha Bello of not being popular in Kogi state.

Faleke, who took to his verified Twitter handle, wrote,

“The recall project has failed. The people won. The outcome today is not just about Dino but the open rejection of the Yahaha Bello led state government.

“Even in detention, @dino_melaye defeated them. Clear sign that Yahaha Bello is very unpopular in Kogi state”.
