Christianity Etc › Three Reasons Why Christians Should Attend Church Services by agwom(op): 8:59pm On May 19, 2015
Sure, you've been attending church ever since you were a little kid. But now that you're all grown-up, you're starting to ask why exactly people go there in the first place. Christians indeed have varied opinions and answers as to why exactly they're attending church, but here's the thing: Going to church is more than just a way of practising your religion and showing others your beliefs and traditions. Here are three essential things we could actually get when we decide to spend a day inside the church:

Build your spiritual strength.

Going to church is like taking your daily dose of spiritual vitamins to get you going through the rest of the week and help you stay strong amidst trials and hardships. The church is where we would usually get to hear the Word of God and be able to meditate on it. When we take it seriously and apply it to our lives, our faith in God will get stronger and could eventually build us up to be spiritually fit. We should always remember that 'man does not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the Lord'. It's not just about strengthening the physical and intellectual aspects of your life but more importantly, we should also try to focus and strengthen our spirituality.

Feel God's presence more fully.

When we attend the church, we will have a chance to experience the presence of God more fully. It doesn't matter if there are a lot of attendees or not because we should remember God's promise that "where two or more are gathered" He will be with them. Aside from that, there are also things that Christ can be able to do that he may not at other times. Most of the time during the week, people are busy with work, school and some other stuff that they are not able to listen and pay attention to that 'still small voice' of God talking to them. However, when you go to the church and be able to meditate quietly, God can be able to communicate fully with you.

Be at fellowship with other Christians.

An obvious reason why Christians should attend church is to have fellowship with other Christians. For one to fully mature spiritually, it is impossible for us to do that on our own. We need others who can help and support us in achieving the highest spiritual growth that we can have. Always try to look at the cross to remind how important fellowship is--- we should always have a vertical fellowship with God and a horizontal fellowship with other Christians. When we are able to love and work in unity with other believers, it helps us keep humble before God and can further help us see that only God can be able to cleanse us from our sins.

A true Christian doesn't attend church service on a superficial reason. When you go to church, you can be spiritually stronger, get the chance to be closer to God as well as have lasting relationships with other Christians like you. If you think that going to church is boring or that it doesn't really mean anything, just remember these three things and it will definitely be something you'll look forward to.
Christianity Etc › God's People Have No Love Of Money by agwom(op): 8:21pm On May 19, 2015
Money is what makes this world operate. An individual in this world can have an extremely hard time finding food, shelter, clothing, entertainment and many other things without having money. An individual without money knows very well how hard it can be to do even the simplest tasks without having money. In this world, money rules and it is what makes the world work. In fact, money is actually loved by most people in this world and is widely viewed as the most important thing an individual could possibly have. However, for God's people, money should not be viewed as the most important thing to have and it should definitely not be loved.

Money in the bible is a very important subject and God has clearly explained to us over and over again how we need to view money in order to be his people. True people of God will obey only him and will serve only him. Corrupt "people of God" will ignore what he has told us about money and will actually serve and love their money. A lot of this corruption actually comes from the many corrupt religions that exist. Many churches are actually so corrupt that they will not even preach or teach anything on the subject of money. In fact, many churches and pastors operate because of one thing- money. It is like a business for them and they will only preach what is pleasing to the majority of their members. They know that if they would preach true bible teachings that they would lose many members and it would be difficult to get new members also which would cause them to lose money. So what is the truth about money in the bible and how should God's people act in regards to money?
The bible is filled with scriptures showing us how we need to view money and how to act in regards to it. The well known biblical scripture that most people have heard of can be found at 1 Timothy 6:10. There the Apostle Paul says that the love of money is the root of all evil. He did not say that money itself was the root of all evil. He said the "love" of money was the root of all evil. And this scripture is correct too. Money itself can come in many types and forms whether it be paper, metals, commodities, certificates, credit, electronic funds, or other material possessions. All the different types and forms of money are not the root of evil themselves. However, all evil comes when people love money. This same love of money is what gives money it's value and such importance in our world. Without this love then money would be worthless. This love of money has caused countless arguments, fights and murders around the world since way back in bible times(James 4:1-4). This love of money causes hunger, homelessness and death throughout our world every single minute. This love of money causes people to deceive, steal and rob from one another(1 Timothy 6:9). This love of money is the cause for many of the world's health problems that exist. Some examples of this include the Tobacco companies and prescription drug companies that have been selling their products to consumers for many years in order to make large amounts of money and at the same time knowing full well that their products are harmful if used. This love of money is the reason governments and corporations keep destroying our planet. Governments know that if they enact laws that limit the harmful things corporations are allowed to do that it will hurt their economy in the outcome. Corporations do not want to change their old environmentally harmful ways because it will mean they will make less money. Corporations know that the cheapest way to operate is in a way that is harmful to the environment. This love of money is the reason behind the worsening entertainment that comes out every year. Movies and shows both show more violence, blood shed, sex and drugs for one reason only. And that reason is to make consistently more money. Producing entertainment with the same level of evil over and over again would not be as effective as producing entertainment that showed a gradual increase in evil. Producing entertainment this way ensures better ratings and viewers which in turn makes more money. These are just a few examples of how the love of money is the root of evil. There are actually many more examples. So we can know that the Apostle Paul was actually right in what he wrote nearly 2000 years ago in 1 Timothy 6:10, that the love of money is the root of all evil.

There are many other instances in the Holy Bible stating that true people of God should have no love of money. Jesus himself put it very plainly when he said in Luke 16:13 that no servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. He also said that a person cannot serve both God and Money. Jesus also said in Mark 10:23-25 that it is very hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. He said that it would be easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. Why would he say such a thing? It is because Jesus knew how much love rich people have for their money. Jesus also said in Matthew 6:19-21 that we should not store up for ourselves riches here on Earth where moths and rust consume and where robbers can break in and steal. However, we should be storing up for ourselves riches in heaven where moths and rust cannot consume and where robbers can not steal. Another example can be found in Hebrews 13:5. There it states that we should be free from the love of money and that we should be content with what we have. True people of God cannot love both God and Money. Neither can true people of god serve both God and Money. These are only a few examples in the Holy Bible showing that true people of God should have no love of money. There are many more examples throughout the bible however that can prove this.

By reading this article, anyone should clearly know and understand how God feels about serving and loving money. If you were somebody who had previously been corrupted by the rest of the world or by a corrupt church, then be happy, because you now have the chance to change your ways before it is too late. If you are somebody who is financially rich then you are being urged not to love your money and be unwilling to part with it. If you have large sums of money stored up please give some to the needy or poor. Give to anyone who is less fortunate than you. There are millions of people worldwide who need it. Even give to anyone who asks of it and do not even expect repayment back(Luke 6:35). Be happy to part with your money. Give up some of your Earthly riches and trade it for heavenly and everlasting riches. Doing these things will certainly not go unnoticed by God. It will show him you love and serve him only and have no love of money.

Christianity Etc › Saved By Grace Through Faith: So Do Works Matter? by agwom(op): 7:06am On May 19, 2015
Apostle Paul, the writer of the book of Romans in the Bible made an interesting statement that we shall further elaborate in this section. In discussing the theme of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus, he writes, "Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law." Romans 3:28. Two verses later, he concludes by saying, "Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law." Romans 3:31.

What did Apostle Paul meant by "we establish the law"? Which law is he referring to? It is obvious that he was referring to the "ten moral laws" or the "Ten Commandments" of God outlined in the bible in Exodus 20:2 - 17. The law is the righteousness of God, the eternal character of God summarized in ten points. These commandments are the "WORKS or DEEDS or ACTS" that we should live out in our lives that proves that we are being saved by grace. For example, "Thou shall not steal" (Exodus 20:15) or "Thou shall not commit adultery" (Exodus 20:14) are good works or good deeds that we show to fellow human beings. We demonstrate faith by good works - a life of action (good deeds). James 2:20,26 explains them nicely: "20. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 26. For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also."
Some people wrongly think that since we are saved by grace, it doesn't matter what we do. It matters a lot what we do. Our bad works may indicate that we are not yet converted. Bad works may indicate that our hearts are not being renewed and hence we are not being saved. This is dangerous. The Bible says of Jesus mission, "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins." Matthew 1:21. The reason why Jesus came is NOT to save us in our sins but to save us from our sins. There is a huge difference between being saved in sin and being saved from sin. When Jesus saves us from sin, we do not continue living a life of sin. The whole life is renewed and transformed and we live a new kind of life. "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." (2 Corinthians 5:17). When Jesus has forgiven the woman caught in the act of adultery, He told her, "... go and sin no more" (John 8:11).

To sum up, we can say that, yes we are saved by grace through faith in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus and acceptance of the free gift of salvation and not by our works. But, our works testify that we are being saved from sin that's why we are not living in sin (bad works) anymore. We are saved by grace but we can surely be lost by our bad works because that is a sign of a heart that is not renewed and converted. GOD BLESS.
Christianity Etc › Is Speaking In Tongues A Gift From God? by agwom(op): 10:23am On May 18, 2015
The disciples were given the essential ability to speak in the languages of the surrounding nations, so that they could preach the gospel in the native tongue of all those they met. If what we see in churches today is the same gift, why was it absent from the church for over 1800 years?

Throughout the Bible it is seen that God gave His people gifts of the spirit to empower them to do what was required for a particular purpose at a particular time.
It is easy to see why God saw it necessary to give the gift of Speaking in Tongues to the early Church. How else could uneducated men have been able to spread the gospel? The question is then, for what reason would the gift of Speaking in Tongues have been reintroduced to the church after such a long absence. What possible purpose does it serve now that the church is established in almost every corner of the world?

The Bible warns us that in the end times there will be a huge outpouring of false miracles, signs and wonders that would deceive much of the Christian world. Mark 13:22 "For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect".

Most Christians are totally oblivious to the fact that speaking in tongues is also practiced in many non-christian religions. It is practiced in African rituals and in voo doo and occult religions. Independent studies have found that there is no distinction in tongues between Christians and the followers of non-Christian (pagan) religions.

The fact that many churches who are practicing speaking in tongues are also teaching that we no longer have to obey the commandments, which directly contradicts what Jesus taught when He said Mathew 5:18 "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled" should make us step back and take a second look at whether this phenomenon being practiced in our churches is of God or from another source
Christianity Etc › Do You Believe God Is Real? by agwom(op): 5:10am On May 18, 2015
When it comes down to believing anything, its really a matter of choice. If there is one belief you must believe, you need to believe God truly does exist. He is all knowing. He is all powerful. He wants you to know Him intimately. Will you give Him a chance to reveal Himself to you today?

In Isaiah 40:28 it says, "Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable". (NKJV) God desires for you to know the everlasting God. He is the One Who created you and He created you for His purpose. You may want to know what you purpose is in life. You won't know it nor fulfill it unless you go to God.

If you would look at your own body you would see how wonderfully it was made. Psalm 139:14 says, "I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well". (NKJV) You did not create yourself. God said in Genesis 1:26, "Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness... ". (NKJV) You were created by a very creative God.
Christianity Etc › Why Do You Want To Go To Heaven? by agwom(op): 7:37am On May 16, 2015
One of the best-known verses in the Bible is John 14:6, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." The purpose of this article is to explain the meaning of this verse.

First, let's get the context. Asking simple questions is a good way to see how any one verse fits into the bigger picture.

Who said this? Jesus. Who is he addressing? The apostles. When and where did he say this? On the night before his crucifixion, Jesus and his disciples were celebrating the Passover meal in the Upper Room. This scene is also known as the Last Supper because it is Jesus' final meal with his closest followers before being arrested, tried and killed on Good Friday.

The next question is perhaps the most important: Why did Jesus say this? John 14:6 is Jesus' answer to a question. More on that in a moment.

Jesus has been preparing the disciples for his departure. Note John 13:33, "My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come." Then in verse 36 Peter asks, "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus replied, "Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later."

Jesus knows that he will be crucified the next day and is doing his best to get the disciples ready for this. His inevitable death has been a topic of discussion during the final months of his 3-year ministry. Mark's gospel records Jesus' straightforward prediction. In no uncertain terms, Jesus has been telling them, "We're going to Jerusalem, and I'm going to be killed there. And three days later I will rise from the dead." (See Mark 8:31-33, Mark 9:30-32 and Mark 10:32-34.)

The disciples do not know what to make of this. Even though Jesus "spoke plainly" about it, on one occasion "Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him" (Mark 8:32). Their confusion is to be expected, of course, given all that Jesus has said and done in their presence. Mark provides insightful commentary on these exchanges: "But they did not understand what he meant and were afraid to ask him about it" (Mark 9:32).

So now we've come to the 13th hour and Jesus once again brings up his departure. "In my Father's house are many rooms... I am going there to prepare a place for you" (John 14:2).

Then Thomas says, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" (John 14:5).

Jesus answers this question with his famous words, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6).

What Must Take Place Before Jesus Comes?
Christianity Etc › What Does Being "Blessed" Really Look Like? by agwom(op): 7:00am On May 14, 2015
what it means to be blessed.

1. Gratitude for the Miracles in Life - Often times we call receiving some unexpected funds the day the eviction notices are to be served or the electricity is about to be shut off as a miracle. We see miracles as something that's unexpected, something that "saves" us from difficulties in life. Difficulties, mind you, help strengthen our faith and expand our wisdom. Truly the miracles we overlook in our day to day life is the ability to move about the earth freely with limbs that work, a heart that beats, eyes that allow us to see, ears that allow us to hear, hands that allow us to touch our loved ones, a functioning mind that holds our most precious memories. Miracles include your determination to keep moving forward in life, your desire to stick around to see better days. It's the ability to be in the right place, at the right time, hearing exactly what you need to hear.

2. Connection to Spirit - By connection I mean the ability to see, hear or feel the presence of spirit in your life. When you are connected to Spirit you are attuned to your inner voice, that voice that guides you, that inspires you, that empowers you. I remember as a child my grandmother would always tell me "Baby when you live close to God, spirit will show you things", to this day her words hold true. When we are connected to spirit we are able to walk by faith through the darkness.

That means we are able to follow that inner voice that comes to us in our stillness and obey without worrying about how something is going to happen. When we walk by faith we don't live in a state of despair, worry, stress or frustration. When we walk by faith we know that there is a deeper meaning, a greater purpose for the circumstances occurring in our lives and we know without a shadow of a doubt that we will see our way through.

3. Connection to Family - What a blessing it is to be amongst family, to celebrate with family, to be in love with your family. So many strive for a way out of their family not realizing that family itself is a blessing. See the human being longs to belong, to be a part of something. While no family, no individual in fact is perfect every family is worth putting effort, love and prayer into. Our family members are our first teachers, first lovers, first protectors, first healers, first friends that we experience in our lives. Whether by blood or by adoption, family holds the qualities of unconditional love, forgiveness and acceptance.

4. Peace of Mind - An often overlooked blessing! Few people actually know what a peace of mind feels like, many have never experienced silence of their mind. There mind is constantly bombarded with negative self talk, judgment of others, doubt and all types of things that make them feel worthless and powerless. We constantly seek material things hoping they will bring us a peace of mind not realizing that once we attain these possessions our mind state shifts from 'getting it' to figuring out how to maintain it. The average person lives in a state of lack or a fearful state of loss. We are more attached to possessions than we are to our sanity.

We crave material things others can see with their physical eyes more than we crave spiritual possessions that bring us to a state of bliss within. One asked, how can you be in a state of peace within when people are being murdered in the street? My question is how can you have peace in society, when you are at war and living in conflict within your own self? Do you think that rage, that hate, that confusion, that frustration, that sorrow, that hopeless you feel within will not leak outside of you and into your community? Do you not that know your inner state affects everything and everyone around you? We are interconnected beings, we get what we put out.

5. Abundance & Prosperity - Usually when these words are uttered people get excited. Yeeeessss! When pastor says abundance and favor is coming your way, people jump for joy. Oh, that new house is yours! That car you being looking at, that's yours. Claim it! I've heard many say. In actuality one who lives in a constant state of want for material things is living in poverty. Want is a state of poverty, it's a state of lack! You are longing for something you do not have. It doesn't matter whether you get it later, in that moment that you are longing, you are resting in a mind state of poverty and lack. Abundance means that you have a never ending supply, that your well never runs dry. Abundance is the ability to share a kind word with another soul in the midst of your adversity.

Abundance is being able to smile genuinely at another when you just finished crying yourself. Abundance is being able to share a hug. Being able to prepare a meal and invite your family and friends over to break bread with you. Abundance is being able to share your wisdom and guidance with others. The ability to inspire change in others, to bring out the best qualities in others. Abundance is being able to laugh at your pain as Kevin Hart says, being able to find a piece of joy/happiness in any circumstance. Abundance is being able to love not you're your family and friends, but strangers as well. Abundance is being able to care for your neighbor's child just as much as you do your own. Abundance my friend isn't about what you have, it's about what you are able to give. The blessing is in giving!
Christianity Etc › The Role Of Women In Christian Prophecy by agwom(op): 7:07am On May 13, 2015
Unfortunately, for one reason or another, the controversy over the role women have in church leadership still exists. While this is a debate within the church, it is clear: there are many examples of Bishops and Elders of the church inside of the Bible.

What about Christian prophecy?

There is also controversy over the roles of women as prophetesses. Again, the Bible - by far clearest voice of the authority of God in the church - is crystal-clear on the role of Christian prophecy for women. God wants women in prophetic roles. He knows that there is a place for them.

God placed women in roles as prophetesses in the Old Testament.

Here is a (short) list of prophetic roles for women in the Bible:

Miriam:

And Miriam the Prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women out after her with timbrels and with dances.

And Miriam answered them, Sing ye to the Lord, for he hath triumphted gloriously; the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.

-Exodus 15: 20-11

Deborah:

And Deborah, a Prophetess, the wife of Lapridoth, she judged Israel at the time.

And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Beth-el in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.

-Judges 4:45

Huldah

So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahihm, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asahiah, went unto Huldah the Prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Hnrhas, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jeritsalein in college); and they communed with her.

I1 Kings 2234

New Testament Prophetesses:

Anna:

And there was one Anna, a Prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;

And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with feelings and prayers night and day.

And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

-Luke 2: 36-38

It is clear, there is a Biblical precedent for women inside of prophetic roles within the church of God. Christian prophecy should fully include women into the body of Christ. The church of Christ is a body, and the body should have every joint in place. Women are - by far-the large untapped resource to bring the glory of God unto the church. This is true of almost every single denomination, church, small group and family; each of these groups should give women a robust role in Christian prophecy within the church. If it is true (and it is) that the church is a body then half of the body is not being used like it should be. Let us energize this important half of the body of Christ in the role of the Christian body; galvanizing women into prophetic roles whenever the Holy Spirit calls.
Family › 10 Reasons Why Good Communication Skills Result In More Friends And Influence by agwom(op): 11:29pm On May 12, 2015
Who does not want to have more friends and influence more people? This can lead to a happier life, a better job, and enriched lifestyle. Essentially, there are no minuses and only pluses to building up your network of friends and associates. So, here are ten reasons why those communication skills will yield more friends, and help you in influencing others.

1. Because They Show an Interest

Good communication is a two-way street. By using the simple traits of talking and listening to others, you can build up friendships and influence people. It is quite common for people to love to talk about themselves or a favourite subject. People with good communication skills will show an interest in that subject and ask questions.

Also, showing an interest can be conveyed by non-verbal signals and they're also part of good communication skills. You keep eye contact with the person speaking, you nod and gesture, when appropriate. Your body is turned toward the person and you're not just flopped across a chair.

All of these subtle body language signals convey meaning to the other person subconsciously. By honing all of your communication skills, you can win people over.

2. By Being Positive

People hear negative things all the time: in the news, from critics, their bosses, and so on. Good communication skills mean not merely focusing on the negative.

There is an old saying that speaks of catching more flies with honey than vinegar. A good communicator knows to not give feint praises; they need to be valid, but even praising a child for just making their bed or putting their dirty dishes in the sink can go a long way to influencing them.

This is where honesty comes into the picture. If you give false praise, invariably the truth will one day come out and then you have lost a friend or the ability to influence that person in the future. You can be positive without going overboard.

3. Because They Are Friendly

To get a friend you have to be a friend, and this is communicated in words and actions; sometimes merely a smile can convey that. Step one is getting to know people, which involves showing an interest and being a good listener. You then talk to the people about things they like, show an interest in those subjects, and project your desire to know the better.

You can find someone incredibly interesting, friendly and desirable, but if you can't communicate all of that to them, you aren't going to build friendships and influence people.

If you're able to talk to people in a friendly manner, if you can write to them on subject they like, if your body language conveys interest and curiosity in them, this will lead them to reciprocate.

4. By Remembering Details

It's said that God is in the details; so too is connecting with people to influence them and become friends.

This ties in with several points already mentioned; when you talk to someone or read about them, you invariably pick up small details about them, their lives, their likes and dislikes.

A critical aspect of good communication skills is remembering these details and then using them to advance your goals. If you write a letter to someone and remember to ask about their wife or mother, they pick up on that.

If you're trying to influence people to buy a product or support you, giving a presentation where you mention something that is important to them, that is a step toward winning them over.

5. Because They Encourage Others

There are plenty of naysayers in the world that will tell others they cannot do something. Part of good communication skills is encouraging people to achieve, to live up to their full potential.

This doesn't mean giving them false hope; that again is a sure way of losing friends and not influencing people.

By assessing the abilities of others, seeing where their strengths lie and then encouraging them toward a reasonable goal, you can make friends. In this case, the good communication skills are the ability to give the right sort of pep talk, or giving them the guidance to find where their talents can take them.

6. By Disagreeing Without Being Disagreeable

People won't agree all the time and some people are very vocal in their disagreements. Using good communication skills to get the fact that you disagree with someone across, without being argumentative will allow them to see your point of view, yet not feel that you are against them.

If you alienate people, that is a quick way of losing them friends and losing any chance of influencing them ever again. The best way to handle this is by first explaining that you understand their point of view, that you respect it but you respectfully disagree, and then state your reasons.

7. By Not Insulting

When you are trying to win someone over, as the points above have mentioned, complimenting people and encouraging them will often win them over. At the same time, not using vulgar language and insulting them will also please them.

Good communication skills means speaking and/or writing in a concise and eloquent manner, and not resorting to profanity and insults to try and make a point.

8. By Correcting In The Correct Way

In any element of life there are times when you have to correct someone, whether it is a child, a spouse, an employee or someone else. If you yell and scream at such people, humiliating them in front of others, and offer nothing constructive, you will lose them.

Part of good communication skills is correcting people in the right way. You point out their positive features, mention where they are falling short and then give them guidance as to how to correct their failing.

9. Because They Can Win People Over

When used correctly, good communication skills convince people to support you, either as a friend or in some other activity.

This is a talent once seen in door to door salesmen; they could talk anyone into buying just about anything. This is also something that politicians and religious leaders are famous for doing.

If you can use your words, whether spoken or written down, and convince people of your view, you can build friendships and influence people to do just about anything.

10. Because They Succeed

If you look at people who are influential, either locally or on the national stage, they are also very successful people: politicians, business people, performers, and so on. They use their good communication skills for a multitude of purposes.

When people see that a person has the ability to win people over, it impresses they, and they tend to want to follow that person and/or get to know them. It could be as simple as putting on a good performance in a show, telling some great stories, writing an interesting book or article or succeeding in business.

There are plenty of books on the subject of making friends and influencing people. Yet, a lot of it comes down to you: how you present yourself, and your words and ideas. By mastering a number of easy steps, you can improve your ability to communicate with people and thus build friendships and networks of people you associate with.

Christianity Etc › Christian Tithing - Separating Fact From Fiction by agwom(op): 7:07am On May 12, 2015
Some preachers proclaim Christians are promised health, wealth and prosperity when they tithe. They say give God ten percent of your (gross) income. In return, God will prosper you. Is this true? Is this biblical?

A careful study of the Bible shows that Christians are not promised prosperity if they tithe.

Here are the facts about tithing and prosperity:

1. Biblical tithing did not consist of money. Tithing was an ancient Jewish ritual involving animal and blood sacrifices. Tithes always consisted of agricultural produce.

And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or fruit of the tree, is the Lord's: it is holy unto the Lord (Leviticus 27:30, KJV).

2. The ancient Jewish people were the only biblical figures who were commanded to tithe. The tithing command was one of 613 commandments of the Mosaic Law. Ancient Israel was promised blessings only if they followed all 613 commandments.

But it shall come to pass, if thou will not hearken unto the voice of the lord thy god, to observe all his commandments and his statutes which command thee this day; that all these curses shall come up on the, and overtake thee (Deuteronomy 28:15, KJV).

3. There's no mention of Christians tithing in the Bible. Early Christians practiced giving - not tithing. Furthermore, there is no scripture stating Christians will prosper if they pay tithes.

4. There are millions of Christians who pay ten percent of their income to churches and ministries yet they remain poor, broke or debt-ridden. Yet some of the wealthiest people in the world don't pay tithes.

5. You do not have to tithe in order to prosper. The path to prosperity involves using your God-given gifts/talents to serve humanity. Prosperity also involves saving and investing one's money wisely.

Do not be misled. There are various false teachings, doctrines and gospels surrounding tithing. The Bible says "the truth shall set you free." It's time Christians know the truth about tithing and prosperity. In knowing the truth you will be set free from the financial and spiritual bondage of tithing.

Christianity Etc › Is Homosexuality Wrong? by agwom(op): 12:40am On May 08, 2015
It is not for us to say whether homosexuality is wrong. Who are we that we can determine the standard of morality? It is our Creator alone who has the authority, right, and wisdom to set the laws to govern our lives. Thus, we must turn to the Word of God for ultimate guidance on this important issue.

Homosexuality is forbidden in several Bible passages, such as:

"You shall not lie with a man, as with a woman. That is detestable." (Leviticus 18:22, WEB)

Immediately following the ordinance against homosexual intercourse is the prohibition against bestiality:

"You shall not lie with any animal to defile yourself with it; neither shall any woman give herself to an animal, to lie down with it: it is a perversion." (Leviticus 18:23)

Having sex with the same gender and sex with animals are sins that warranted the death penalty under the Mosaic covenant (Leviticus 20:13, 15-16). Under the new covenant for Christians, people who commit sexual immorality and refuse to repent will not enter the Kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). In other words, they will be sentenced to eternal death. This is an everlasting death penalty.

Here is one passage that mentions both male and female homosexuality:

"For this reason, God gave them up to vile passions. For their women changed the natural function into that which is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural function of the woman, burned in their lust toward one another, men doing what is inappropriate with men, and receiving in themselves the due penalty of their error. Even as they refused to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting." (Romans 1:26-28, World English Bible)

Clearly, Yahweh God through the apostle Paul indicated His disapproval of homosexual behavior and lifestyle. Homosexuality is "inappropriate" and "not fitting." Its passions are "vile" and "against nature." There is no stronger vocabulary to indicate God's intense disapproval of homosexual practice.

Business › Making Money Requires Money by agwom(op): 1:19pm On May 01, 2015
For an established business or a growing one, having a manageable debt can be viewed as good. I've seen many who carry on their businesses without any debt but there is nothing wrong with getting a loan to start or expand a business.

For a business to thrive it'll most of the time require capital and so you should not shy away from approaching a bank or a friend for a loan.

The thought of owing someone money sends chills down the spines of most of us and the fear is understandable. Some of us have had ugly experiences emanating from being unable to pay back money we borrowed from financial institutions or friends to invest in our business. This has resulted to loss of assets like furniture, vehicles and houses.

As much getting a loan is risky, nobody makes money without investing time and of course money. Using other people's resources like time and money still remains the best available method of generating wealth, for there is no one who is an island. But borrowing money to invest in a business must be approached cautiously and wisely. Therefore when a business owner is taking a loan he/she needs to consult and research on financial management capability of the business.

Small businesses should realize that once a loan is repaid, it goes a long way to improve the credit worthiness of their company and in turn enhances access to other types of financial facilities like overdrafts. In summary, caution and tact must be considered when borrowing money to start up a business or improve an existing business.
Christianity Etc › Is Masturbation In The Bible? by agwom(op): 6:59am On May 01, 2015
I have never found the word masturbation in my King James Bible. BUT that does not mean that the subject is not touched upon in several scriptures. Let's look at some scriptures to find out what God thinks about such things. Psalm 90:8 - "Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance." The point here is that God sees and knows everything that you do. Many people masturbate in private and many masturbate to porn in private. These secret sins that maybe no one else on earth might know about, even your spouse if you are married are wide open to god and he sees all of it. Here lies a problem for those who are caught in the snare of the Devil in regard to sexual sin which includes masturbation. I am not going to debate what the world says about the subject because that is a waste of time. God has his Word and we are to keep his commandments and be holy as he is holy. If it were not possible then God would not have laid it out in his Word to be done. 1 Corinthians 3:16, 17 - "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are." Here we are specifically discussing the Christian who is sinning and not obeying the Word of God. If you need deliverance because you have opened the door to demons through porn and masturbation and sexual sin or if they have traveled down to you through family lines then there is hope for you to be delivered. You may try self-deliverance and it will work but they will be back due to the fact that you have become weak in this area. That is why we confess our faults to each other according to scripture with other Christians who are trusted and who do not gossip and who will stand with us and help strengthen and encourage us. But if you still abide in your sins and do not repent then you have trouble for yourself physically among other things. If you destroy God's temple then God will destroy you and sexual sin of any kind including masturbation affects you physically, mentally, and emotionally whether you want to accept it or not. Many of you suffer physical problems and infirmities and sicknesses as well as mental and emotional problems due to regular sexual sins which include masturbation. This is the destruction taking place according to scripture because by Jesus' stripes you have been healed. And if you have been healed and yet are suffering then there is something going on that is causing the trouble. And that something going on is sexual sins including masturbation. Now let's look at something Jesus said because I have read and heard others saying, "Well Jesus never said anything about it so it must be OK." "But I (Jesus) say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into Hell. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into Hell." Matthew 5:28-30 Now take a look at this scripture. You look on a woman to lust after her and when you do you have already committed adultery with her in your heart. If you are not married you have committed fornication.
Christianity Etc › Suffering Is A Choice by agwom(op): 7:45am On Apr 15, 2015
To suffer is a choice based on perception.; one can perceive that an experience is to help them grow within or the experience is meant to cause harm. Everything in life begins with a choice. However, when an individual chooses to allow his or her emotions to slip away or go out of control, then the individual has chosen to perceive the experience as one of harm. Which is okay because either way learning occurs sooner or later. When your emotions go haywire your self-esteem/confidence goes down thus you perceive the experience as being one that causes suffering and eventually you learn from the experience. Once your self-esteem/confidence is restored and emotions are addressed you realize that the experience was meant to help you, in other words you chose to shift your perspective to the lens of a "helpful experience".

There is another aspect to suffering and it deals with choices. To turn toward suffering and allow it in your life is like turning your back from the one who can help you the most, which happens to be God. If you allow God to help you then you will learn that there is always a choice when faced with a dilemma. In this case, the choice would be to suffer or not to suffer. You see when we blindly turn towards suffering we are making a "choice" to get swallowed up in the suffering. When we get swallowed up in the suffering, we have already made the choice to suffer. Instead what we need to do is come to a realization that on a subtle level we choose every experience and with every experience we choose whether or not God will be a part of the choices that lead to each experience. When we allow God into our lives, our choices are chosen for our highest good.

So as you walk your path remember that to suffer is based on perception and choosing to suffer. Also, remember that God wants to walk your path with you, especially when you feel overwhelmed by life's difficulties. Remember that you are never alone and that life is full of choices, which lead to our experiences. We will always have the power within us to choose what we want to experience whether we are consciously or sub-consciously making choices. God has blessed us with freewill and it is freewill that allows us to choose what we want to experience. It is also freewill that allows us not to experience the choice of suffering.
Christianity Etc › How Can You Love God Whom You Have Not Seen? by agwom(op): 6:50am On Apr 15, 2015
How can you love God whom you have not seen? You love God by loving others. The basic nature of God is love. When we love others with unselfish love, we are taking on the nature of God and in effect loving him. We are commanded to love God and love our neighbor as our self. When we do this, we are demonstrating that we love God.

When you enter the world of Christianity, you must change your basic nature. The world has programmed us to look out for ourselves, to do whatever is necessary to get ahead. God created us with the instinct for self preservation. As a Christian, however, we must look out for others also.

After all these years of building up self we must sacrifice self some time and effort, to serve others. This is one of the most difficult lessons Christians have to learn. It may seem as if we are coldly and deliberately sabotaging self. In reality, we are simply learning to love others as we do our self (Luke 10:27).

Christians are supposed to operate by agape love. We are to have genuine concern for other people. Christianity has failed to change the world because too few Christians understand or are willing to operate in this fashion.

The word love brings up many things in our mind. Greek and Latin terminology has different words for love. Flirtatious love, brotherly love. Sexual love. Friendship love, logical love, smothering love, divine love. The English language has only one word for love. Is it any wonder that we have trouble defining this word?

In Greek, agape is used in most Scriptures that deal with the love man has for God, and God has for man. It describes the very nature of God. God is love. Since we are made in his image, it should describe our nature.

Jesus introduced agape love principles with the golden rule: Do to others what you would have them do to you (Matthew 7:12 ). This law is based on Leviticus 19:18. Love your neighbor as yourself. It is called the Royal law in James 2:8, because all laws of relationship are based upon it.

The principles of agape apply in also marriage also. Husbands are to love their wives as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25). Wives are to submit to their husbands (Ephesians 5:22, 24).This submission is to be done out of love and respect (Ephesians 5:33), and she is to be worthy of respect (1Timothy 3:11). The husband does not control his own body but the wife. The wife does not control her own body but the husband.(1Corinthians 7:4).

Romantic love is great, but it is by nature, selfish, seeking self needs only. Agape love causes each partner to seek satisfaction for their spouse first. Both needs are met in a beautiful relationship if agape principles are followed. Marriages fail because people quit being concerned for their spouse.

John describes love with the three letters "G-O-D" and the three words "God is Love." The world describes love as an emotion. It is much more than that. It is giving and commitment. It is demonstrated in John 3:16: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son. He loved, he gave the most precious gift it was possible to give. He is committed to us for life, like we are to be to our spouse.

Do not love the world, or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the father is not in him. (First John 2:15). This is referring to evil ways of the world. We have to make a distinction between people and what they do. God loves everyone, but he does not like the evil things they do. We are to love those things that are true, worthy of respect, what is just, pure, lovely or commendable (Philippians 4:8.).

Christianity Etc › Beware Of False Prophets by agwom(op): 11:21pm On Apr 14, 2015
The Lord Jesus told us to beware of false prophets. "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves", (Matt: 7:15). Jesus knew how they could harm believers and He knew how they could negatively affect the Church of God that was soon to be born. Jesus would not warn His believers of something that did not exist. False prophets were common in Old Testament times. They prophesied only what the king and the people wanted to hear, claiming it was God's message. False prophets are just as common today. Jesus said, "You will know them by their fruits", (Matt: 7:16). Jesus warned to beware of those whose words sound religious, but who are motivated by money, fame, or power.

Following Jesus' command concerning false prophets require critical observations. We must not be indifferent to their existence. Believers often become indifferent to many things, but this is a command of Jesus that we need to constantly be aware of and maintain a watchful attitude. In maintaining a critical attitude we need to follow our Lord's instruction, "Judge not, that you be not judged", (Matt: 7:1). Do not judge superficially. The fact that a person labels himself as a prophet or spokesman for God does not necessarily mean that he truly speaks God's Truth. We also need to beware of judging others if we ourselves are at a greater fault. We can only have critical observations if we are first critical with our self and remove our own faults. We need to remove the plank from our own eye before we can have a clear vision to be a corrective agent of God. Believers also need to be redemptive in spotting false prophets. We need to seek to redeem them and to rescue them, as they are going astray.

It is our responsibility as believers to recognize false prophets. We must be responsible for ourselves. We cannot think it is someone Else's responsibility. In the day of judgment we are all accountable for our own decisions in life. To be able to recognize false prophets, we must know what constitutes some prophets as false.

Any "prophet" meaning religious teacher, who teaches that salvation is possible through any other way than personal belief in Jesus Christ is a false prophet. Jesus specifically says that man must himself enter through a strait and narrow gate. This means that there is only individual salvation. Each person enters on his or her own volition. No one else can do it for you. Salvation is granted to those who personally express faith in Jesus.

Any "prophet" who teaches that man is intrinsically good in himself and can find salvation in the good things he does is a false prophet. There are many good people in the world today. They accomplish great things for their fellow man. They are morally sound. But if people feel they are spiritually secure because of their works, their affluence, their prosperity, or their morality, they have fallen prey to false prophets.

Any "prophet" who in their teaching minimize Jesus Christ and glorify themselves is a false prophet. A true prophet will only sound the glory of Christ and what He has done for us, while remaining humble in the things he has personally done. A true prophet, or religious teacher, knows that the things he has done and can do comes from a God given strength and not his own. We should be very careful in taking credit for the things we do in the work of the Lord.

What harm can false prophets do?

In Old Testament times nations were corrupted by false prophets. Their false prophesies created large followings of people. Their audiences became enthusiastic because they made the people believe all was well. False prophets can do the same today. They can make people believe everything is well and good, and give people a false sense of security. We must remember that as long as Satan is still at work in this world, we cannot afford to lose our sense of security and lower our guard. We have to remember Jesus warning that Satan's prophets come in sheep's clothing; unnoticeable and crafty. I don't think anyone can argue that our nation is losing it's sense of religion and morality that the nation was built upon. It is largely due to people falling prey to false teaching that creates enthusiasm and a false sense of security. These false prophets take control of our feelings and change our minds a little bit at a time, thus remaining unnoticeable. This thought brings us back to Jesus' command, "Beware!"

True prophets and false prophets are as different as chaff and wheat. Chaff is useless for food and cannot compare to nourishing grain. The teaching of false prophets is useless, except for destroying the soul. The teaching of true prophets is the only teaching that can nourish the soul.

To share the gospel is a great responsibility, because the way we present it and live it will encourage people either to accept or reject it. Whether we speak from a pulpit, teach in a classroom, or share with friends, we are entrusted with accurately communicating and living out God's Word. As we share God's Word with friends and neighbors, they will look for it's effectiveness in our lives. Unless God's Word has changed us, why should they let it change them? If you preach it, make sure you live it!
Christianity Etc › Rapture - 7 Year Great Tribulation - Second Coming by agwom(op): 10:51pm On Apr 14, 2015
There are some who believe the rapture has already taken place. They are absolutely wrong. It can not happen without me! I know, if I'm living, during that time, that I'll be "caught up." The early church after Jesus died and then was Resurrected, later going to sit beside Father God, were in constant watchfulness. They expected Jesus return any second. Do you?

Story

History tells us of a French-Canadian city of Quebec. The Plains of Abraham is where General Wolfe and his English forces conquered Quebec from the French. It is nothing short of a miracle how the men went up the face of the great rocky cliffs. If you saw it you'd know why. A small handful could have held off General Wolfe and his men because of the nightmare cliffs and the awful heights. But scale it they did and gained the citadel.

Here is why...

The overconfident defenders, thinking it impossible for anyone to get up the cliffs became careless and had a time of pleasure instead of guard duty. Seeing this, the English forces, at night, gained the height and took the city.

Quebec was taken because the soldiers failed to keep watch. For this same reason, the majority of men and women will fail to go in the Rapture when Jesus comes back in the clouds because of failure to watch.

John 14:3 "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."

Are You Watching In Excitement

1Thessalonians 4:16-18 "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words."

Seven Years Great Tribulation

This is a time you want to miss, whatever the cost. This will be like hell preparing you for the lake of fire and brimstone. The Bible teaches that the first three and one half years will not be as severe because of the 7 year covenant anti-Christ makes with the Jews. This will change at the beginning of the last half of the 7 years Great Tribulation.

The anti-Christ will break his 7 year covenant with Israel the last half of tribulation and will become a great hater of the Jews. He will persecute them terribly and if God did not supernaturally intervene, they would be destroyed. God does protect them, though many will die in the Great Tribulation.

During this time, millions will be saved. Speaking of those who once had been saved, but now backslid. Their eyes will be opened to see the truth once again. They'll die, many tortured, because they confess Jesus as Lord instead of the anti-Christ. The majority will take the number or mark 666 which automatically spells their doom, and guarantees they'll go to the lake of fire and brimstone for all eternity.

Jesus Second Coming

Some folks get the Rapture and the Second Coming mixed up. However they are two separate events. The rapture will happen, taking those watching in true Holiness and Righteous living as Christians, up to the clouds to meet Jesus. He will personally take them back to Heaven, to meet the Father, spending 7 glorious years with all the other saints there.

The Second Coming will take place immediately after the seven years Great Tribulation. You can read all about it in the King James Version Bible, Revelation 19:11-16. This is one of the most exciting times for a Child of God. For the sinner however, this will be terror because they are doomed for hell forever.

Read (Isaiah 54:10; Ezekiel 47; Zech. 14:1-5) these scriptures and get the big picture of how Gods Holy King James Version Bible will come alive with the complete truth of prophecy coming to pass.

May I leave with you these words..."WATCH therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh." (Matthew 25:13)

Christianity Etc › Seven Signs Of The Return Of Jesus Christ by agwom(op): 9:26am On Apr 14, 2015
According to the Book of Matthew, chapter 24 of the Bible, there are seven signs that point to the eminent Second Coming (Advent) of Jesus Christ. Are we the final generation before the return of Jesus? Perhaps. Please read this eye opening article and decide for yourself.

False Christs (Matthew 24:5)

These are people, men and women, who will come to our world claiming that they are Christ. Charles Manson, Jim Jones, Sun Jung Moon, David Koresh, Marshall Applewhite (Doe of Heaven's Gate), etc. These people are powerful in their persuasiveness. They have and will deceive and kill many. Years ago, New Ager Benjamin Creme ran a full page ad in major newspapers in the world, claiming that the Messiah had come and was living in Liverpool, England. This Lord Maitreya is still alive and still claiming he is the "messiah".

Wars and Rumors of Wars: (Matthew 24:6)

Jesus puts a postscript that "nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom". The word "nation" in the Greek language is "ethnos" meaning "ethnic", a subgroup within a nation. It means "an increase of civil war within a nation. No one of sound mind can escape the fact that the news if filled with violent stories of one ethnic group against the other. For example, in the US, latins against blacks. In Ireland, Catholics against Protestants. In WW II, Nazis against Jews. In Israel, Arabs against Israelis. "Kingdom" is the Greek word "basileia" which means a "kingdom or a providence", which indicates that Jesus was speaking about international war between kingdoms like America, Russia, Africa, Israel, Canada, etc. In Rwanda alone, in less than 90 days, 900,000 people were massacred. This was done with machetes. Joseph Stalin killed more people in WW II, than Adolph Hitler.

World wide peril: (Matthew 24:7)

Famines There are approximately 6 billion people in the world, growing at a rate of 1 billion over so many years within a generation. According to WHO (World Health Organization), 1 in 6 people in the world are starving every night.
Pestilences In 1997, they said that the greatest threat to mankind, AIDS, is growing at a rate of 16,000 cases per day, world-wide. In 1999, they said that 33 million people died of AIDS alone. However, many people are not counted in that sum because many people die of ancillary diseases that are related to AIDS and they are not counted. Entire regions of continents are infected, IE, Africa. This is just one of many diseases that kills people, unlike anything ever seen. Think about cancer and others.
Earthquakes in Diverse Places Earthquakes in diverse places; the greatest proof of all three. "Diverse" means in places they have never been before and in numerical amounts they have never been seen. In case you are skeptical, these quakes were registered in places they have never been seen and in increased amounts over the years. Jesus said these would be the "birth pangs". We are not in Tribulation times yet, but we are close.
Persecution of the Saints: (Matthrew 24:9)
Jesus is not talking about the "now" time but the time of the Great Tribulation. Revelation 13:7 says: "It was also given to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them, and authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation was given to him." That's why we know that the Church will not be around during the Great Tribulation because the Bible says that the gates of hell will not prevail against the Church. However, there will be people that will be saved during the time after the Rapture and they will be defeated by the anti-Christ; they will be killed. There will be mass executions, especially against Jewish Christians. We are seeing this persecution of Christians now. In Sudan, Africa, 5 million Christians are being persecuted. That's just one area. Interestingly enough, America is not doing anything about it. America doesn't want Christians to evangelize but calls for tolerance of other people's faith. If that means that Muslims are killing Christians, we, as a nation, should tolerate that because Muslims have the right to exercise their faith. Pretty amazing that that is the attitude of the liberal politicians and media in the "land of the free".

The Departure of the Faith: (Matthew 24:10)

There are many people who profess being Christians. who are not born-again by the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus is really not their Savior but they go to "church" because it's a good thing to do. If you, as a born- again believer and ask someone if they believe they are going to heaven, and get an answer like, "Of course I do, I go to church and and I am good.", you are probably face-to- face with someone who is not saved and will fall away during the Tribulation. These are the people who we need to press on the Truth of the Gospel. Rom 8:15-16 says about true Christians: "For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!" The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God..."

The Rise of False Prophets: (Matthew 24:11)

You've read about the false Christs but these are different. These are cults and the new religious organizations, of which there are over 1000 in America today. Cults are, by definition, a church or an organization that calls themselves "spiritual" but denies who Jesus Christ is in His Person and His Diety and denies the Scriptures at certain points, that prohibits a person in truly believing who Jesus Christ is and going to Heaven. For example, Charles Taze Russell, in the late 1800's founded the Watchtower, known today as the Jehovah's Witnesses. He says that Jesus Christ was coming in 1914 and that Armageddon is getting ready to come. When Jesus did not arrive in 1914, he revised his date to the 20's, 30's, 40's and so on. Now the Jehovah's Witnesses say Jesus came but He is hidden. They don't believe in hell but do believe that Jesus really is Michael, the arch-angel. Joseph Smith, in the late 1800's, founded the Mormon church. They believe that Jesus is the "johnny-come-lately" God and if we live to be good, reach the heights of their Mormon ladder, with rituals and become an "apostle of the Mormons", we will inevitably become God, like Jesus. Then, you will ascend to your own planet, (Yes, I wrote "planet"wink after death and bear your own "spiritual" children and have your own world like Earth. The Mormons require a 10% "tithe" from their constituents, and even send you a "bill" to your home. How nice... The Mormon church has amassed over 13 billion dollars and is one of the largest communications company in America today. They own more radio and television stations than any other company in the nation. That is why you can see more commercials of a little Mormon girl with her Mormon bible on prime time television.

Lawlessness and the love of many growing cold: (Matthew 24:12)

We are in the cult of "self" today. The prophet Isaiah warned (Isa 5:20-21), "Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes And clever in their own sight..." Paul wrote in 2 Tim 3:1-5, " But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these." Does this remind you of something? The reason the love of many will grow cold and lawlessness will abound in the Tribulation period is because the Church will be removed.

Read 2 Thessalonians 2 and play close attention on verses 6-8; "And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming..."

Satan has no love whatsoever for this world or God, and the Holy Spirit is restricting him until the Spirit is removed. The Holy Spirit of God lives within every true believer in Christ. When He is removed, we shall be removed. That's when Satan will be revealed unto this remaining world and lawlessness and lack of love for others will abound.

The seven year Great Tribulation will then begin.

Christianity Etc › Same-sex Marriage And Two World Views by agwom(op): 1:46am On Apr 14, 2015
Despite the apparent monolithic world view dominating the social-political scene today, in fact, there are two. There have always been a right and wrong, a true and a false, and this is just as applicable to this brief overview of two world views. They both cannot be right, or can they? That is a vital issue. Is there really final objective truth about reality, or are all such claims folly and madness, merely arbitrary electro-chemical reactions in our brains?

• COLLAPSE

So, despite gasps of surprise, I believe there is a coherent and rational basis for a 'No' vote in the marriage referendum in Ireland, and anywhere else, for that matter. We live in a fast-changing world and over the past 60 years, or so, modern social theory, including a strong 'rights' movement, have driven huge changes in social and moral attitudes in the Western world. This has gone on in tandem with the rapid collapse of traditional religious authority, especially institutional Christianity. In its place evolutionary naturalism, has emerged as the mainspring philosophical base for North American and European social-political action.

• NORMAL

Now, in an ethos where no moral absolutes exist, behaviours once held to be morally wrong have become legitimate and normal. This context gives the State new freedoms and powers to grow increasingly absolutist, and where the primary social values are democratic freedom, personal rights, and peace and material prosperity.

With the rise of secularism, relying as it does directly on evolutionary theory, with its ascent from molecules to man, by the natural selection of advantageous, accidental genetic mutations, we see wishful thinking of a high order. Evolutionary theory is believed almost frantically and taught at every level of education, not because it is authentic, proven science, but because it comprehensively attempts to exclude the rational, personal Creator of an understandable and meaningful cosmos from every nook and cranny of the public sphere.

• SAND

But there is sting in the tail, and once evolutionary theory becomes the philosophic base, societies and the individuals that comprise them begin to lose their objective human value, moral values, the meaning of life, and the validity of reason - people lose their significance and become meaningless ciphers. Irrational anger, petty theft, alcohol and substance abuse become the reactions of people who cry to be understood, but are left feeling no one cares or understands when evolution tells them they are nothing but flotsam and jetsam, washed up on the last tide, to be washed away at the end of their dreary little day.

In this dark meaningless fruit of secularism, Western nations are fast crumbling in decay, violence and futility. Their foundation is a pile of sand.

• TIMELESS

The rational base I appeal to is the second world view; the timeless, bedrock truths of historic biblical Christianity. When all is said and done, when you slice through all of the fog and confusion, there are only two world views, two philosophic bases upon which to rest your person, reason and reality; there is atheistic humanism (secularism in various forms), or there is historic biblical Christianity. At the deepest level the choice is between atheism and Jesus Christ.

Atheism will leave you without a rational basis for its own central belief, since it is only able to appeal to the physical realm of electro-chemistry for a base for the validity of your personal reason. And how is such a base going to 'create' such exalted information about knowing you a exist in a final and significant reality, in which there is no supreme personal Creator, without inescapably borrowing those assumptions from your own creation in the moral and rational likeness of God and from biblical theism? But, left to its own assumptions atheism is never consistent; only hopelessly self-contradictory, where it can only lead to dark futility.

So, before you go too far down that road consider the claims of Jesus Christ, and his death and resurrection. These are intellectually credible, defensible and life-transforming, and by no means look for a leap of false faith into blind dogma.

• GRACE

With this foundation, you have a coherent and internally consistent world view supported by a strong validity of reason - the infinite personal Creator God, the creator of an information-filled, understandable cosmos, who graciously reconciles to himself, by Jesus Christ, all who turn and trust in him. His redemptive death and bodily resurrection are the ground of our future assurance. He is the Creator and upholder of the universe, whose word is final for life and for death. He is the one who upholds the entire cosmos for his eternal praise and glory.

As such, because of the clear biblical teaching on the origin of man and woman and God's gift of marriage to them, specifically in complimentary union, I am not free to support behaviours that are inherently not equal to hetero-sexual marriage.

But I am free to show every respect to all, whoever they are, and to value them as wonderful persons, which to reassure you, was the goal of this short article.
Christianity Etc › Should Christian Pastors' Wives Preach? by agwom(op): 1:36am On Apr 14, 2015
The other day as I was turning the final bend that leads to my house I heard disorderly and uncontrolled voices locked in an argument. They were Christians, men and women.

Putting my ears to the ground - listening rather hard, I picked the plank of the argument: Should a pastor's wife preach in the absence of her husband? Ordinarily, this is an innocuous question, harmless by every stand of analysis. But sentiments had elevated it to the sort of debate that demanded caution.

As I listened furtively with my steps progressively slowing down, the eyes of a known one caught me in the web of humans that had gathered to umpire in the controversy. "Our elder welcome," he flagged me down. "Can you please," he entreated, "spare us some moments as your arrival here is deemed to have been divinely timed.

The cause of the discourse was stated with dying emotions mainly because the one that halted me commands some respect among the arguers.

As I opened my mouth silence berthed. I began my explanation in a formal manner in an informal gathering. It is not so much whether a woman, be her a wife of an officer or the general overseer of a church as by her position in that church. That is to say, is she herself a duly recognized officer of the church? If the answer is 'yes' then the argument will no longer have unfavorable potency. But if it is a 'no' situation, then will the argument receive teeth to rage on.

How then do you become a recognized officer of a particular church? Here is where the question must first be particularized before it can be universalized. What are the programs put in place for those willing to be trained for service of the church? Are the programs sex discriminatory? If so, which sex is affected?

In some churches the some churches the starting point is the Foundational/Beginners class. The class runs for a specific period to be followed by tests and examinations on successful completion of the period. If the brother or sister succeeds, he or she or both can proceed to the Holy Ghost class. Again, if they come out clean at the end of this stage, they can identify with any group of their choice. The groups include: Prayer Warrior, Evangelism, Tracts ministry and others. The choice is strictly personal, no one is ever forced. Many are they that opt for remaining ordinary members ever after.

Other programs form rungs of higher training. However, this does not preclude the possibility of advice to those who exhibit particular traits if they are perceived to be introverts and therefore are shy and would not easily signify intentions for service.

There are assistant deacons/deaconesses, assistant pastors/substantive pastors, area pastors and so on and so forth. The point of note here is that once anybody has received the requisite training to become ordained and earn a given post in a church system - as enumerated above - the person has attained the status of recognition in that church. It would, therefore, matter less whether the person is a brother or sister. The individual ultimately qualifies to officiate in programs organized by the church, no holds bar.

That should be the objective line for Christians to tow in arguments of this nature

Christianity Etc › Two Problems With Women In Christian Ministry We Must Overcome by agwom(op): 8:43am On Apr 13, 2015
BALANCE is the great challenge of life. Always has been, always will be.

This is a factual generalisation that is compelling. There is nowhere near fifty percent of politicians, executives, and church leaders who are women. It is usually a figure closer to five percent. Men are apparently better leaders. But is that true? Of course it isn't.

This cultural catastrophe causes two problems: 1) it prolongs the bias against women (and it's a bias held not just by men) as key leaders and it makes it harder for good women leaders to assimilate, feel included and of value, and be effective; and 2) it tempts women leaders to overcompensate in the power struggle that should never be a power struggle (but then we will never live in a utopian world!). Part of the bias in the first point is men and women against women in key leadership may, themselves, unjustly goad a woman leader, where, if she were male, there would be no such impediment to her work. So, women leaders may need abundantly more humility and resilience than most men do, just to survive.

Both of these problems, it's incredibly sad to say, work against the lobby for women in ministry.

I say upfront; women have a great deal to give in key leadership roles in every organisation. I worked as a public servant for an Authority for several years where the CEO was a woman. She led that organisation through much industrial reform in a tough, male dominated environment, for over fifteen years. The harshest thing she ever said about anyone was that they were "charmless." She encountered the worst behaved trade union organisation and met their aggressive crudeness, scare tactics, and dirty strategies with an aplomb her male general managers were no less than inspired by. How do I know? I knew each one of these general managers personally and each one had communicated this to me without any compunction. I had also had the privilege seeing her in my direct observation, walking the talk in the field. Ms. Kerry Sanderson had virtue every Christian would envy. She had a royal presence about her. It was no surprise to anyone at Fremantle Port Authority in Perth, Western Australia, when she was sworn in as Governor of Western Australia. She is a woman who commanded respect because of her undying respect of all persons regardless of who they were or weren't. There was no spot nor wrinkle in her that could be observed. She was the best leader I've seen to date. And she is a woman!

This doesn't mean that her strategy for governance were beyond improvement. Complexity was something she thrived on, but complexity can be the undoing of great organisations. Yet, even in driving too much too quickly, she was a model of diligence and vision!

My point is this: the best leaders have elevated scruples. Gender has nothing to offer the debate. But integrity is everything. And both of the problems I cite with women in ministry highlight a lack of scruples and integrity in both the men and women that proffer too much their overvalued opinions.

Men (and women) who decry women in leadership lack integrity. They refuse to see what God would have them possibly to see. They may, at times, frustrate or block the will of God. Conversely, the women who rule by fear by insisting control be seized, and that coercive and position power be used, rather than personal, service, and information power, also lack integrity.

Leadership is a matter of integrity - humility, courage, transparency, honesty, impartiality.

Leadership is a servant-hearted act of integrity.
Christianity Etc › Was Jesus A Historical Figure? by agwom(op): 8:34am On Apr 13, 2015
Eyewitnesses of Jesus

What about Jesus? Was he an authentic historical figure? Eyewitnesses Matthew, John, Peter, Paul, James , and Jude say he was. These men claim they knew Jesus. They weren't just casual acquaintances either. Peter, John, and Matthew lived with him for several years, right up to the day he died.

Day in, day out, they traveled with him; talked with him; ate with him; heard his teachings; saw his miracles; and at least in the case of John, saw his execution. Two of these disciples wrote extensive works detailing the events in the life of Christ and frequently quoted his words. Two others, James and Jude, were very likely brothers of Jesus.

Paul, who wrote almost half of the New Testament epistles, said he met the resurrected Jesus. The profound effect this had on Paul, "the road to Damascus experience," has become the byword for a dramatic turnaround in anyone's life. Paul, then known as Saul, had been the leader of Christian persecution. He quickly became the most influential Christian evangelist of the first century. A more radical change is hard to imagine. Paul credits it to his personal encounter with Jesus.

Secondhand Witnesses

In addition to the eyewitnesses, two prominent secondhand witnesses also wrote accounts of Jesus. Mark recorded the apostle Peter's reminiscences of Christ. Luke, traveling companion of Paul, informs us that he conducted a thorough investigation of all the witnesses and evidence available to him before he wrote his detailed account of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Firsthand eyewitness reports are by far the most valuable and reliable evidence - ask any historian or lawyer. But a proliferation of secondhand information also confirms Jesus' existence. Church leaders such as: Polycarp, Eusebius, Irenaeus, Ignatius, and Origen wrote about him.

Christians, in fact, gave the most compelling evidence. During the first three centuries A.D., an untold number of Jesus' followers were burned, crucified, or thrown to wild animals when they refused to deny their faith. Who would willing die for someone who did not even exist?

Outside of Christianity, we find that friend and foe alike knew Jesus as a historical figure. In his book, A Ready Defense, Josh McDowell lists among others: three historians, one governor, one satirist, a prisoner, and several hostile Jews, all from antiquity, mentioning Jesus.

Other Historical Evidence of Jesus

Historians

Flavius Josephus, a Jewish historian born A.D. 37, wrote his Antiquities in the early part of the second century. He gives us a very favorable report on Jesus calling him a wise man, a doer of good deeds, and a teacher of truth.

A Roman historian by the name of Cornelius Tacitus lived about A.D. 52-117. He wrote Annals, a portion of which dealt with the life and times of Emperor Nero. In an attempt to allay suspicion, Tacitus writes, Nero falsely accused Christians with starting the fire in Rome. He punished them with "exquisite tortures." "Christus," the historian reminds us, "the founder of the name, was put to death by Pontius Pilate, procurator of Judea in the reign of Tiberius."

What Tacitus calls "the pernicious superstition" was repressed for a time, but broke out again and spread across Judea and on to Rome. Consequently, this unsympathetic historian confirms both the life and death of Jesus and the rapid spread of Christianity despite persecution. Tacitus also refers to Christianity in his Histories when he discussed the destruction of the Jerusalem temple in A.D. 70.

Another early Roman historian, Suetonius, served as a court official under Emperor Hadrian. In A.D. 120, Suetonius wrote The Life of Claudius. Therein he says: "As the Jews were making constant disturbances at the instigation of Chrestus (Christ), he expelled them from Rome." And in a second reference, Suetonius confirms Tacitus' report on Nero: "Punishment by Nero was inflicted on the Christians, a class of men given to a new and mischievous superstition."

Governor of Bithynia

Plinus Secundus, better known as Pliny the Younger, was governor of Bithynia in Asia Minor. In A.D. 112, he wrote Emperor Trajan requesting the emperor's policy on Christians. Pliny wanted advice on whether he should execute all Christians or only certain ones.

Pliny's letter provides us with several bits of information about the early Christians living in his district. They believed Jesus Christ was (is) God, and they assembled one morning each week to worship him. Part of their service included a pledge to refrain from "wicked deeds." Specifically, they vowed to never commit fraud, theft, adultery, falsify their word, or deny a trust.

Satirist

Three historians, a governor, and a satirist all offer written evidence that Jesus was a historical character. The satirist was Lucian of Samosata. He was considered one of the greatest writers of revised Greek literature in the Roman empire. This second century Syrian born author took a decisively dim view of both Christ and Christians.

In his manuscript The Passing Peregrinus, he identifies Jesus as ". . . the man who was crucified in Palestine because he introduced this new cult into the world." As for Christians, "They deny the Greek gods and worship that crucified sophist himself and live under his laws." Lucian also mentions Christians several times in his work Alexander the False Prophet.

Acts of Pontius Pilate

What about Pilate? Do you suppose he ever produced a report on Jesus' trial and crucifixion? Apparently, he did. Justin Martyr, a philosopher and early Christian apologist, wrote to Emperor Antoninus Pius about A.D. 150. He made a reference to Pilate's report which he assumed must still be available to the current governor.

Justin told Antoninus Pius: "They pierced my hands and feet are a description of the nails driven into his hands and feet on the cross; and after he was crucified, those who crucified him cast lots for his garments, and divided them among themselves. These things are recorded in the Acts of Pontius Pilate."

Prisoner

And then there is Mara Bar-Serapion. This Syrian born prisoner wrote a letter about A.D. 73 to his son. In his letter, Mara observes that those who persecute wise men pay for their actions. He illustrates his point with the deaths of Socrates, Pythagoras, and Christ. "What advantage did the Jews gain from executing their wise King? It was just after that, that their kingdom was abolished. The Jews, ruined and driven from their land, live in complete dispersion." But Mara notes, the teachings of their wise king live on.

Jewish Talmud

Jews did not completely ignore Jesus either. References to him are scattered among several sections of the Jewish Talmud. Between A.D. 70 and 200, Jews developed a code of religious jurisprudence called the Mishnah. The Gemaras, a separate body of commentaries on the Mishnah, was composed during and after the same period. Together both works are called the Talmud.

In these writings Jesus is variously called: Ben Padera or Ben Pantere, or Jeshu ben Pandera or Yeshu of Nazareth. The Talmud offers this explanation for Jesus' crucifixion. "Yeshu of Nazareth . . . hath practiced sorcery and beguiled and led astray Israel. Let everyone knowing aught in his defense come and plead for him. But they found naught in his defense and hanged him on the eve of Passover." Another passage calls Jesus "a bastard of an adulteress." Still other accounts allude to his disciples.

Obviously, these Jews are no friends of Jesus. But his historic reality is not questioned. In fact, it is taken for granted.

The evidence is overwhelming and conclusive. Firsthand eyewitnesses, apostles, disciples, apologists, martyrs, several ancient historians, plus a governor, a satirist, a prisoner, and a number of unbelieving Jews all put it in writing. Jesus was a real man. He lived and died. Modern scholars and historians agree.

Christianity Etc › Jesus Christ Cares For Your Soul by agwom(op): 7:59am On Apr 13, 2015
From the time of Adam, the decree has been that we must die for our sins. God's sentence was: "The soul that sins, it shall die" (Ezekiel18:20). But Jesus changed all that. He came to this world, went to the cross voluntarily to pay our penalty for sin. Through the grace of God, Jesus Christ tasted death for every man. Jesus cares for your soul. He cares enough that He endured the cross, despised the shame, all because of you. He suffered the humiliation of all the sufferings as though guilty, yet He was innocent. He suffered the betrayal of a close companion, the terrible pain of being scourged and He was nailed to a Roman cross and left to die, all because He cares for your soul.

The problem we all have in this world is that we give little thought to the kind of life we live. There are times when we consciously turn away from (backsliding, or apostasy), showing that we no longer deserve the love of God as He does not simply tolerate such attitude, yet instead of us to allow the word of God to do its work of conviction, we simply wish away our actions as just human weakness.

Jesus reminded us in the Bible that whoever finds himself in trouble from which he cannot extricate himself, whether it be alcohol or marital problems, can still get help from God through repentance. We do not tend to or have regard to God's word that urges us to repent the moment we keep looking unto people instead of unto God. For most people their problem is to know whether they are the only people that did or are doing that. They want to know if other people are into the same sinful act that they are being asked to repent of.

To be fair to this, no matter who is in the same sinful act with you does not change the evil in it. Sin is the ruin of all, no matter the form it appeared in. If you are occupied with dressing up the outward part of sin by making remarks to other people, then your salvation is too far from being real. When sin plays such a decisive role in our lives, then we need to come to terms with it, however outdated the concept may be considered. The word has a simple meaning: erring from the right pathway. God ordained that pathway for mankind once for all time. The so-called Ten Commandments are exemplary in this respect. However, they culminate in the command to love God with all our being and our neighbour as ourselves. Now people are naturally disinclined to ask after God, and that is what God's Word calls "lawlessness".

That is the root cause of all the problems. All have sinned. That is, unfortunately, normal state of things; it leads to eternal condemnation, if the matter of our sins hasn't been dealt with in conjunction with God during our lifetime. We are called to receive salvation from Jesus. The apostle Paul wrote that Jesus was delivered up for our trespasses, and was raised for our justification. Jesus cares, and invites you, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). Jesus Christ went to the cross so that you would have a way of escape from sin and the consequences of a sinful life. He wants you to be saved, and is not willing that anybody should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). When our lives are heading in the wrong direction, Jesus cares, and He offers a new direction to us: "He died for all that they that live should not live unto themselves, but unto Him who for their sakes died and rose again" (2 Corinthians 5:15). Friend, Jesus cares!
Christianity Etc › 10 Ways To Love Like Jesus Does by agwom(op): 8:25pm On Apr 12, 2015
What would Jesus do? It's a perennial question regarding life. Jesus would love. It is as basic and as simple as that. But what are the nuances of Jesus' love? Grace is so far from the concept of sin that grace covers over every blot in the book of life for the sinner who runs home to God.

Jesus paid humanity's price,
He took full penalty for our sin,
The fullness of grace to suffice,
All because of Him.

1. Listen without interrupting (Proverbs 18:2, 13) - it is such a shame to the one who answers before listening. Their self-interest is exposed in their opinion. We must know that Jesus always sought to understand situations prior to speaking, and his understanding was remarkable in his responding through parables.

2. Speak without accusing (James 1:19) - when we are "quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry" life always works out better. But our sinful nature rages in pride at the very time God is trying to show us a new thing. For the amount of haranguing and constant jostling Jesus was subject to he gave a great account of testimony for being "quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry," per the character of God.

3. Give without sparing (Proverbs 21:26) - the only real satisfaction in life is to give away what we cannot keep in order to keep what we cannot ever lose. As we give up our rights, possession and association to material things we receive spiritual things in abundance. Jesus taught this in Mark 8:35; 9:35; and, 10:44-45.

4. Pray without ceasing (Colossians 1:9) - similar in effect to 1 Thessalonians 5:17 ("pray continually"wink. Jesus was in constant communion with the Father, and this is exactly what we are to aspire to.

5. Answer without arguing (Proverbs 17:1) - how peaceful a home can be when we just let vicious comments sit; to not react, but to come back to them, in the cool light of day is wisdom. Sometimes no verbal answer is the best answer at all - especially when emotions are rapidly trending south. Jesus was always able to consider carefully his responses to all relational situations.

6. Speak truth without hurting others (Ephesians 4:15) - every word Jesus ever uttered was truth spoken through grace, even if some of what he said was hard to hear. We have the same opportunity - to find the balance between reality and emotion, catering to both, equally, at the same time.

7. Enjoy without complaint (Philippians 2:14) - as a friend once posted, "Complaint is evidence of blessing." Everything we complain about is something that was once given to us. But Jesus had nothing and became nothing so we could be reunited to the Father.

8. Trust without wavering (1 Corinthians 13:7) - love protects, it trusts, it hopes, and it perseveres. Love never fails. Trust is based in love. Jesus never gave up on the hope of love and it endures today as much as ever in history.

9. Forgive without punishing (Colossians 3:13) - though we will occasionally want to punish those who transgress us, we are reminded of the example of Jesus who forgave those who killed him when he said, "Father, forgive them for they do not know what they are doing."

10. Promise without forgetting (Proverbs 13:12) - I've been guilty, even in this present stage of life, of promising more than I could fulfil. Missing the mark like this, as I've found out, makes the heart of the person I've missed 'sick'. They felt disrespected, even disregarded. I had to repent. Jesus, however, not only kept all his promises, he made better from some of those promises than people expected. That's our task. To surprise people by how well we follow through.
Christianity Etc › Who Is Jesus The Messiah? by agwom(op): 8:17pm On Apr 12, 2015
Who is Jesus? Who did Jesus claim to be? Who are the Apostles saying Jesus is? What are some of the religions saying who Jesus is? Who does the Bible say Jesus is? Why is it important to know who Jesus is? Why all the confusion? These will be some of the topics of today's Bible study.

Let's start with the question who did Jesus claim to be? To get an accurate answer of this question we need to start at the beginning when God first introduced Himself to Moses in Exodus 3:14; And God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." And He said, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.'"

Now let's take a look at what Jesus has to say about Himself. In John 8:58 we read;

"Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM." Again we can see this in John 18:6 when Jesus said "I Am" the power of the name of God knocked everybody to the ground. "Now when He said to them, "I am He," they drew back and fell to the ground."

In John 1:3 we read that Jesus is the creator of the universe, the earth and everything that was made. This verse also says all things were made through Him. The word "through" implies to me that Jesus was using the power of the Father channeling through Jesus to create everything. Look at this verse carefully and see what you think. "All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made." This verse could have said all things were made by Him but instead it says through Him. In John 14:10 we see Jesus saying the same thing. "Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works."

We need to look at the relationship between Jesus and the Father more carefully. In Luke 10:22 we read; "All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him."

I believe that the oneness spoken of by Jesus in heavenly terms is a much closer oneness than we could ever hope to learn or understand here on earth. When we say the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are separate and at the same time are one, the line that separates the oneness of all three is so blurred it's almost impossible to separate them. We can see the closeness between The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in 1 John 5:7 "For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one." We see this also in John 10:30 "I and My Father are one."

As hard as this is to understand I just want to mention that when we join Jesus in the millennium the Trinity will change to the "Father, Son, Holy Spirit and the Saints or maybe the children of God, or the Sons of Light, or the Bride of Christ or Jesus and the saints could all be considered "Sons." Look at Jesus' prayer to the Father just before He was taken to be crucified. The prayer is found in John 17:20-23.

"I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will[a] believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me."

It looks to me that as Kings and Priests in Jesus' Kingdom we will also be part of the Godhead. We also see this in the prophecy found in John 14:20, "At that day you will know that I am in My Father and you in Me, and I in you." I believe these verses answer the question found in Psalm 8:4, "What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?"
I just thought this was worth mentioning now back to our study.

Jesus referred to himself as the Son of Man and also the Son of God. Both are correct since He was half man and half God. There are many references confirming this truth here are two. In Mark 10:45 we read "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many." In Luke 22:70 we read "Then they all said, "Are You then the Son of God?" So He said to them, "You rightly say that I am."

After Jesus was resurrected the Apostle Thomas said he would not believe until he could touch the nail prints in His hands and reach his hand into Jesus' side. After doing so we can see what Thomas's response is: In John 25-28 we read, "So he said to them, "Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe."

26 And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, "Peace to you!" 27 Then He said to Thomas, "Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing."8 And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!"

When Jesus asked the Apostle Peter who do you say I am? In Matthew 16:16 we read Peter's response, "Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

What are some of the religions saying who Jesus is? The Mormons are claiming that Jesus and Satan are brothers. The Jehovah Witnesses are claiming that Jesus is an archangel like Michael. The Catholics claim you have to pray to Jesus' Mother or to one of the other saints. The Islam religion says that Jesus is a prophet and the Hindu's and the Buddhists believe that Jesus is an "enlighten individual."

First of all I would stay away from any church that claims to be the "only one true church". They are using pride to suck you in so you can feel confident in knowing that you are smarter, better and more righteous than everybody else. Remember the sin of pride. In Luke 14:11 it states, "For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted." These people forget that in the book of Revelation Jesus is writing to His seven churches. Jesus was not writing to His one true church.

What does the Bible say about Jesus? The Bible says that after the Great Tribulation which will last seven years, Jesus will rule the earth for the next one thousand years. When Jesus comes to the earth to claim His rightful place as King of the earth check out what His clothing says in Revelation 19:16; "And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

In Isaiah 9:7 we see that the government of Jesus will last forever here on the earth. "Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this."

The reason I bring this up is because during the reign of Christ the book of Isaiah gives us a prophecy of the names that the people of the earth will call Jesus. It is found in Isaiah 9:6, "For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

So all this confusion about who Jesus is. I believe this argument is settled in the above verse. This is what Jesus will be called during the millennium because this is what Jesus really is.

I have heard it said concerning the above verse that the reference to Mighty God shows that Jesus really is not really Almighty God. I believe the next two verses found in Revelation put to rest that vicious rumor. These verses are found in Revelation 11:17 saying: "We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty, The One who is and who was and who is to come, Because You have taken Your great power and reigned."And in Revelation 15:3. We read "They sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying: "Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints!"

Why is it important to know who Jesus is? Not only is it very important to know who Jesus is it is also necessary for salvation. If you are praying to the wrong Jesus you will not be saved. An Archangel can't save you from your sins. Satan's brother can't save you from your sins. Jesus' Mother can't save you from your sins. No enlighten individual can save you from your sins and no prophet dead or alive can save you from your sins.

There is only one Jesus as Almighty God and Savior so you have to be very careful and not let anybody fool you into believing in the wrong Jesus. We read in the book of Acts 4:12; "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

Why all the confusion? The goal of Satan and his demons is to keep you from the salvation of Jesus by any means necessary. If they can confuse you and have you believe in the wrong Christ then they win and you lose. We need to heed the warning in 1 John 2:18, " [ Deceptions of the Last Hour ] Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour."

I always believed that God was capable of protecting His word. If we don't have the accurate word of God here on earth then God couldn't possibly hold any human beings responsible for their actions. That means that people like Hitler and Stalin can't be punished for their crimes.

The reason I say this is because that is exactly what's happening to many religious seekers. As a religion if I have you read a verse like "Jesus said to the thief on the cross today you will be with me in paradise." Then I would tell you that a group of biblical scholars got together and found out that the verse had been translated wrong and the verse really should read "Jesus said to the thief on the cross today will you be with Me in paradise?

All I need you to do is to just believe that what I said is true. Once you believe that the verse is translated wrong now I become the authority and I can now show you all the other wrong translations in the Bible to get you to believe whatever I want you to believe.

Don't let anybody tell you the Bible is full of errors. People have been trying to disprove the Bible since about 750 BC. If the so called scholars could have disproved the Bible it would not be around today. Don't forget that it was the religious leaders and the scribes of Jesus' day that had Jesus crucified.
Christianity Etc › God's Word Is Free Medicine by agwom(op): 6:24am On Apr 12, 2015
God's Word is FREE medicine to ALL your flesh. This means your ENTIRE body.

Scripture: Proverbs 4:20-27 - "My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee. Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil."

So let's break this down in order to understand what the Holy Spirit is teaching us in regard to the medicine of God's Word.

1) My Son - If you are a child of God (Jesus Christ is truly your Lord and Savior) you have a right to this medicine FREE of charge anytime you need it because it has been purchased by the precious blood of Jesus Christ. So whether you are receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior or you have been a Christian, a child of God, for some time, this medicine is for you and it is FREE.

2) Attend to my words - The Word of God must be your number one priority every day. Read it, listen to it, get it into your mind and absorbed into your emotions and keep at it daily until it gets down into your spirit and then stay with it on a daily basis. Consider it like breathing. If you go without air for a certain period of time you will be dead. So it is with God's Word. You go for a time without it or on an inconsistent basis; you open yourself up to attack either directly or indirectly from the Devil and demons and from sickness and disease.

3) Incline thine ear unto my sayings - Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Rom. 10:17). The best way to do this is to get healing scriptures (I will include some at the end of this brief teaching) and make them into personal affirmations that you quote out loud to yourself at least twice a day. (For example: after you get up in the morning in the AM and before you go to bed in the PM) You also might want to "increase the dosage" (there are no negative side effects). If you are in bad shape already add one, two, or three or more dosages per day by quoting and saying these affirmations from God's Word. By hearing yourself giving thanks that you are healed according to the Word of God, faith will come automatically and God's grace which saved you to be born again will also do its work to heal you physically.

4) Let them not depart from thine eyes - You have to see yourself well and healed according to the Word of God. You have to do this by an act of your own will (daily and as many times as you are quoting your scriptural affirmations during the course of a day, in order to build your faith for healing) and use your own imagination by thinking it and thus seeing it in your mind over and over until it gets seeded deep into the soil of your spirit. And then you have to keep seeing yourself healed according to God's Word. I know the facts are that you might be sick and the Doctor(s) have said that there is not much if anything that can be done. But this is God we are talking about here. He is not a man that he should lie and it is impossible for God to lie. So if in 1 Peter 2:24 it reads, "By his (Jesus') stripes you were healed, then that is the way it is because that is the TRUTH. And "the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me (you too) free from the law of sin and death." (Romans 8:2)

5) Keep them in the midst of thine heart - Faith without works is dead being by itself. So you have to act on your faith. You have to do that which you could not do before. And you have to believe in your heart that you are healed and confess with your mouth that you are healed. You have to give God thanks and praise that you are healed. And you have to take action that you are healed. The blind man in the bible tossed his coat aside (this coat signified that he was blind so that others would be aware of it). He acted on his faith and threw it off because he believed in Jesus and that Jesus would and could heal him. You have to confess with your mouth and give thanks that you are healed even though the manifestation does not appear yet. You have to see yourself healed even though the manifestation does not appear yet. You have to act on your faith even though the manifestation does not appear yet. And you have to keep doing this and growing strong in your faith (like Abraham that believed God) until the manifestation does take place. NOTE: IF YOU ARE ON SOME MEDICATION PRESCRIBED BY A DOCTOR, YOU GO TO THE DOCTOR AND HAVE THE DOCTOR TAKE YOU OFF THAT MEDICINE AS A TESTIMONY TO EVERYONE THAT GOD HAS HEALED YOU.

6) For they are life unto those that find them - It is up to you. It is your decision whether you want to take God at his Word and to believe him or not. If you do, you will get the life back into your body that was promised. "But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken (give life to) your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you." Romans 8:11

7) And health (medicine, cure) to ALL their flesh - It does not matter what is wrong with you mentally, emotionally, or physically. God's Word is the answer. Let me put it to you this way, Christ is the answer.

How can you keep your healing?

1) Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life - Keep away from yourself everyone and everything, as much as it depends on you, anything contrary to what the Word of God has to say in regard to you being healed. TV, Internet, radio, what others say, religion, what you read, what you watch, what you hear, etc. If it does not line up with God's Word. Avoid it. Remember Jesus warned his disciples about the leaven of the Pharisees. Don't think for one minute that the Devil does not want to steal the Word of God from you so that he can kill off any hope that may have started to form in you about being healed so that he can use it to destroy you. That includes getting absorbed in the negativity of the news or entertainment in any form.

2) Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from Thee - Be careful and pay attention what comes out of your mouth. You can nullify the faith being built up through the Word of God you are confessing by then adding anything like, "if it be God's will," or "the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away," or God is trying to teach me something by being sick," or "miracles and healing stopped when the last apostle died," or any such thing. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever (Hebrews 13:cool. So if God healed then he heals now. Jesus healed when he was on earth and he still heals. And he will heal you too! Also, there are many scriptures that talk about keeping your tongue in check in regard to gossiping, or slandering, or lying, or backbiting, etc. Pay attention to those. Don't do it. And if someone has done you wrong, forgive them. I did not say you had to do business with them anymore. But you must forgive them out loud and do it from your heart.

3) Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee - You have to stay focused on the Word of God (and seeing yourself the way the Word of God says you are) in spite of what circumstances look like, in spite of what you hear said (including those thoughts in your head), and in spite of things that get in the way, such as temptations. You can obey the Word of God. You can be successful at this. Here is the formula for your success: "This book of the law (the Word of God) shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success." Joshua 1:8

4) Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil - Be WILLING and OBEDIENT to the Word of God. There are things in there that the carnal mind does not want to do. You have to stay in the Word and in prayer. I personally have found that an hour in the Word per day and three hours of praying in tongues (because I can do that anytime and anywhere) greatly helps. And yes, you can do this if you work full time. I did when I was working at a secular job. Yes, a lot of TV and surfing the Internet was cancelled and not done, but what I gained was invaluable. Obey the Word of God. Love one another (the brethren). Love the Lord your God with all your heart and mind and soul and strength and love your neighbor as yourself. OK, so what if you miss it? You will. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9 Confess your sins and God will forgive you (the 5 you remembered and confessed and the 5,000 you forgot about). Remember, God loves you. He never stopped! He wants you well and healed and healthy until it is time for you to go home and be with him (in his presence) forever.

You Can Use These Personal Affirmations from Scripture for Physical Healing:
