Jobs/VacanciesRe: NPOWER: An Open Letter To Afolabi Imoukhuede. by ahmedoo(m): 1:13pm On Aug 23, 2018
nijaboi:
Dear Sir,

We write this letter in response to your reactions to our stance on permanency.

Let us begin by appreciating you for recognising the impacts of our work through the scheme, and for gratifying our gestures of gratitude so far. We are pleased to learn that our efforts have not gone unnoticed.

We can’t help it, but we are obliged to respond to some issues you raised.

For a start, we wish to clarify that our advocacy for better employment status is not and will never be directed to you, Mr Afolabi, as a person. We are aware of the fact that the jurisdiction of your office can not secure us such opportunities, but, like other stakeholders in the scheme, your office is merely referenced only for administrative protocols.

As the SSA to the President on jobs creation and the grand handler of Npower Initiative Scheme, it is only a procedural necessity for us to make reference to your office.

For any avoidance of doubt, you should have noted that your office is not the only office being referenced in all our communiqués, only for the few instances where we directly reacted to some of your live Facebook chats.

Sir, for clarity, you are not the target of our advocacy, and you and your team would do us a great service if you could desist from talking on issues that are far above your power to handle.

We are aware like every right thinking nigerian that Npower can not give us permanency, neither can Mr Afolabi, but the authority that also employed you all.

As far as we are concerned, Sir, you can not define our fate, but the Presidency, and most especially President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Prof Yemi Osinbajo.

Moreso, we would like to make use of this medium to clarify some issues pertaining to our advocacy.

As enlightened and law abiding Nigerian youths, we are not disputing the two years life spam of the scheme as well spelt in its terms and conditions, neither are we trying to be ungrateful to the initiators of this laudable scheme. We are ever appreciative, and we have severally shown our gratitude through various means.

Our cries for permanency is a peaceful and legal move which is being misrepresented and vehemently opposed by some forces within the corridors of power. Hence, the need for us to clarify issues.

This regime has promised empowerment and employment to Nigerian youths, which according to some quarters are being fulfilled through the Npower Initiative Scheme. They also claim the scheme has equipped us with the required employability skills susceptible of securing us our desired jobs. They equally boast of the achievements of some very few percentage of some N-agro crops among us who have been able to venture into some agricultural life changing projects.

But in real fact, they are pretending to ignore that the opportunities available to the N-agro volunteers among us can not be commensurate to those of us in N-teach and N-health.

We are not trying to be segregationist but the N-teach volunteers, who constitute the largest percentage (75%) of the whole scheme, are required to report to their assigned Places of Primary Assignment all working days of the week. And the same thing is applicable to our colleagues in the health sector.

We are not undermining the work of our colleagues in the Agro sector, but the conditions of their own field afford them with an avalanche of opportunities to learn, work and invest because their field is designed in a way to accommodate that. But the truth is that majority of those in N-Teach crop are not learning any new employability skill: it has been their field before the advent of the scheme.

Even if we assume that the scheme has impacted us with some teaching and medical skills, what do we do with those skills after the scheme? Do we go by establishing schools or hospitals with the tokens paid to us?

You keep emphasising that there is no vacancy for us and that the federal government can not absorb us but Federal Government parastatals and agencies such as immigration, custom, police, fire brigade, air force, NNPC, CBN, NCC etc keep recruiting on quota and privilege bases. Are those ministries only reserved for well-to-do-people? Why can’t the Npower beneficiaries who have been trained and equipped with skills be considered for job openings in those ministries?

Our advocacy for jobs is birthed from the long endured pains and yearnings of the common and frustrated Nigerian youths.

Permanency is what we want, any other discussion is distraction…

I like the motive of this letter, but i want all npower beneficiaries to understand that it will not be fair if the government should employ some of the beneficiaries leaving out some, i think what you should be pushing for is how the government will settle all beneficiaries with a tangible amount of take off grant to enable you all to start up something. Lets say the government can decide to pay all beneficiaries a million naira after tge program alot of beneficiary will start something small.

motivationspika:
my brother, this is government job for you. The processes can be so long(sometimes more than a year) that sometimes, when you have even forgotten about them, then they call you. In essence, it all boils down to many unnecessary protocols and selfish interests that have soiled the civil service, making the whole recruitment practically slower.
I pray you all that we're invited get the job, imagine after all the excitement.. heard that even the invitation was for those with long legs.

it's been a while I read through this thread, it's sad to know that they are still yet to issue appointment letters, na was for naija oh. me that thought that by now you all have started receiving salaries. I use to think when you are invited for an interview for government job you most likely have got the job.

RomanceBetween I.g Yusuf Of English Dept Ibbul Lapai And Grace Of 400l by ahmedoo(op): 3:54am On Feb 27, 2017
TRUTH OF THE MATTER BETWEEN IG YUSUF and GRACE 400LEVEL STUDENT OF ENGLISH DEPT IBBU LAPAI.
On the 20-02-2017 Dr. Abayya who came on sabbatical from ABU Zaria who happen to be IG Yusuf's Ph.D major supervisor conducted a test for 400level students of English dept which he split d class into two and told IG Yusuf to supervise one of the classes. Grace and one student known as pastor samuel were caught cheating and his script was torn off as directed by Dr. Abayya . Grace later went to IG's office dat she want to see him but he declined that he is busy probably she shuld check back later or tomorrow and she left. On Tuesday she called him on phone dat it is an important issue she wants to tell him and he said ok. Later Grace called back again and he told her he is busy in d office, IG has just been elevated from deptal exam officer to faculty exam officer and so he had to update and brief d new deptal exam officer so they were their upto 10:30pm and as he was about to close to go home Grace still called and he told her it was late so she should meet him in d office d next day but she still insisted d issues is very important so since will be going home she will come and wait for him at LOWCUST JUNCTION close to INEC office in lapai bye pass that link to Agaie road. On approaching there he sighted her standing and immediately he stop Grace and other four guys entered d car with sophisticated weapons asked him to keep driving down to Grace's house. on reaching d house, they took him to a room and told him GOD DON CATCH U TODAY in pigeon english. Dey Asked him to pull of his shirt and remain wit boxer gave him mop to mop d room and gave him water Mellon to take but he refused. They cut his hand with a knife to show dia criousness,From that moment he followed any instruction giving to him. There gang leader known as AKA Liyas held him and pulled his boxer down and took picture with him and d Grace was recording d video. There after Grace told him that pastor Samuel's script dat he tore he will pay it. They wrote something on paper and asked him to read it and it was recorded and videod. He was made to write an undertaking as follows: Grace must graduate this year along with her two female and two male friends and he must write her project. Items collected from him include: D money in his pocket, ATM cards, 2 of his phones. They kept him hostage till 5a.m of Wednesday being 22-02-2017 b4 he was released to go. However, he was warned never to involve police and if he did his life was in danger. He however informed his DEAN, his dean told him to be patient since its all about life and death dat he Dean will look for Grace for fact findings. Two hours later three members of the gang followed him to his office again at University to warn and remind him of the undertaking he wrote. Only God knows the truth Please help in sharing this message so that everyone should hear and know that there is another side to the story ... source is anonymous and this is not an official statement from the university.
