lexiconkabir:Wa alaykum salam warahmatullah. Yes I have. Was sent a mail last week that the registration is pending approval but I'm yet to get any feedback since then. |
lexiconkabir:Jazakallahu khairan brother. I really really appreciate you for bringing this to my attention to this. I'm definitely gonna be signing up for this, In sha Allah. The prospect really excites me. |
OLAJADON:Asalam alaykum brother. I would like to implore you to please do an honest research on this issue. Go and look for what the scholars of islam have said regarding this and understand the proofs and logic they have given. I agree with all lexiconkabir has told you and if you're not yet convinced, you're free to look up on this more. The truth isn't hard to see, it just depends on whether we choose to acknowledge it or stay in denial. Remember this dunya is a testing ground for us all, we weren't created to live by our own whims and desires. I understand that it appears hard at times when we have to leave some of the things we've gotten accustomed to just for the sake of pleasing Allah. Yes, it's never meant to be easy but I assure you that it is well worth it at the end of it all. May Allah guide you brother. |

Jazakallahu khairan. This is really insightful |
Another point recently crossed my mind that might be a bit related to this topic. Wastage of food is something that is prohibited in Islam. Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) says: " Eat and drink but waste not by extravagance, certainly He (Allah) likes not Al-Musrifun (those who waste by extravagance " (Al-A'raf - 7:31). It is saddening seeing how just nonchalantly peolple just dispose off food into the thrash can (it's even more unbearable when you see the aftermath of parties - Save the food for the next time - Give it out to the needy people around who can benefit from it - Or take it out for the animals or birds around to eat May Allah guide and forgive us The link below provides a more detailed explanation of this https://islamqa.info/en/138341 |

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَـنِ الرَّحِيمِ Asalam alaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh In the world today, there is a growing number of advocates, organisations and associations calling for the protection of animal rights and exhibiting kindness towards them but little do we know that Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) had already preceeded these people over 1400 years ago. A review of his teachings show that his mercy was not only extended to humans alone, but also animals and inanimate things. Once the companions of rasulullah asked him: "O messenger of Allah, is there a reward in (kindness to even) animals" The prophet (PBUH) replied: "In (serving) every living creature is reward" [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) emphasised on the importance of showing good treatment to animals in many authentic narrations. He once told his companions: "A woman was punished on account of a cat. She confined it until it died and entered hellfire because of it. She neither fed it nor allowed it to search for its own food" [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] Another narration goes: "While a man was walking he became very thirsty, so he descended into a well and drank from it. When he came out he found a dog panting and eating the soil due to thirst. He said, 'This creature is suffering what I suffered', so he went down again, filled his shoe and climbed up holding it in his mouth to give drink to the dog. Allah appreciated that from him and forgave his sins" As Muslims, we have been prohibited from engaging in hunting or any other activity where animals are targeted for recreational purposes. The prophet (PBUH) explicitly warned against killing an animal without a valid reason. He said: "No person kills a bird or anything larger without right but that Allah will ask him about it on the day of resurrection" Someone asked: "O messenger of Allah, what is its right?" He replied: "Its right is that one slaughters it to be eaten and not merely cut off its head and throw it away" [An-Nasa'i] Another hadith goes: "Do not take anything in which has a soul as a target" Even in the process of slaughtering animals, we are enjoined to show kindness to the animal. One of such means of doing so is to sharpen the knife properly to ensure that the slaughtering is quick and precise so as not to prolong the suffering of the animal. Insects and ants likewise, it is pertinent not to kill those that do not pose any harm to us. Let us all remember that there will be a day of reckoning and we would all love to be under the shade and mercy of Allah that day. May Allah guide us, have mercy on us and may He forgive us of our shortcomings. |
k4kenny:Ameen. I haven't yet been able to. Mostly my own personal efforts for now. But I'm working towards that though. Soon, in sha Allah. |

Op is also forgetting this Your glasses leaving painful marks on your nose after wearing them for too long (especially the ones with metal frames) |
Yieldings:I can so relate with this Don't think I can count the number of glasses that either broke or got misplaced during my childhood. Thankfully, I think I became more careful as I got older |
Imam al-Shafi’i remarked, “There is a verse in the Quran that every wrongdoer should be terrified of.” He was asked, “Which verse is that?” He replied, “‘And your Lord never forgets.’” [Surah Maryam: 64] |

D all the way!!! |
rainyday:Wa alaykum salam Even though I'll want my more knowledgeable brothers and sisters to take the lead on this one, let me offer the little I can. Hopefully, they'll be here to give a much more detailed explanation to you. Firstly, I commend your determination for wanting to start observing tahajjud for it is a truly meritorious act of worship. Abu Hurayra (Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him, his family, and companions) said, “The best prayer after the obligatory prayers is the night prayer.”[Muslim] The prayer can be performed at any part of the night but it is more preferable to observe it in the last third portion of the night. It is important to make the intention of performing the prayer before going to sleep. If you oversleep and forget to wake up in time, do not feel discouraged or demoralised. There's this hadith of Abu ad-Darda' where he quoted the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) as saying: "Whoever goes to his bed with the intention of getting up and praying during the night, but, being overcome by sleep, fails to do that, he will have recorded for him what he has intended, and his sleep will be reckoned as a charity (an act of mercy) for him from his Lord." Once you get up, wipe your face, clean your teeth (preferable use a siwaak) and then proceed to make wudhu. It is recommended to also wake up one's family. As far as I know, there isn't a specific amount of rakahs that can be performed. The rakahs are performed in pairs (i.e. sets of two). It is recommended to begin with two quick rakahs. Then you can pray whatever number of rakahs you are capable of. After finishing this, you may make whatever supplication to Allah. Put in mind that this is the most ideal time to seek forgiveness of your sins. Narrated by Abu Huraira (RadhiyalLahu anhu): Allah’s Apostle (Peace be upon him) said, “Our Lord, the Blessed, the Superior, comes every night down on the nearest Heaven to us when the last third of the night remains, saying: “Is there anyone to invoke Me, so that I may respond to invocation? Is there anyone to ask Me, so that I may grant him his request? Is there anyone seeking My forgiveness, so that I may forgive him?”. N.B: Once you're getting sleepy while performing the prayer, then you may proceed to go back to sleep. This is due to the hadith narrated by A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) as she quoted Allah’s Messenger as saying: “When one of you gets up during the night for prayer and his Qur’anic recital gets mixed up to the extent that he does not know what he says, he should lie down." May Allah guide you and may He strengthen your iman. |
lexiconkabir:Just basically this same tajweed we're discussing here. There's a video series he made on tajweed that I found on YouTube. I occasionally watch that and try to relate it with what I'm learning here, the app and other places. |
lexiconkabir:Jazakallahu khairan. This was really helpful. I'll try to see if I can come across some examples of those symbols you've mentioned. |
Asalam alaykum I came across something this morning which I'd like to ask about. In verse 27 of surat al-qiyama, there is a sign after "waqeela man" (a letter ﺱ right above). Even though it appears like a stop sign to me, I'm not sure because it isn't part of any of the ones I learnt earlier. In Husary's recitation, he paused at that point but I need to know principle behind this. So, what exactly is that symbol and how is it used? |
Wa alaykum salam warahmatullah Still majorly most of what has already mentioned. Ensure to comb it regularly, apply ori (or some other type of oil you feel can work) regularly to help keep the beard lustrous and moisturized. Try to avoid regularly touching or stroking the beards because it can roughen and can pull of some strands if care is not taken(This at times is hard for me too because I unconsciously can't control myself especially deep in thought )Last and what I consider most important, wear you beards with pride and confidence. Some people might insult you or you might get the occasional whispers from shaytan, but this should never dissuade you. Even if the whole world is against it, brother stand by the deen. May Allah reward us for the little strives we're putting towards practicing this deen of ours. |
Contact17:Wa Antum fa Jazakumullahu khayran. Honestly, we all do. With the whole hustle and bustle of this dunya, one needs to constantly sit back and reflect on these things. |
The great scholar Ibn al-Qayyim (Rahimahullah) gave some amazing and life-changing advice for the believer: “A friend will not (literally) share your struggles, and a loved one cannot physically take away your pain, and a close one will not stay up the night on your behalf…so look after yourself, protect it, nurture it…and don’t give life’s events more than what they are really worth…Be certain that when you break no one will heal you except you, and when you are defeated no one will give you victory except your determination…your ability to stand up again and carry on is your responsibility…Do not look for your self worth in the eyes of people; look for your worth from within your conscious…if your conscious is at peace then you will ascend high…and if you truly know yourself then what is said about you won’t harm you. Do not carry the worries of this life… because this is for Allah…and do not carry the worries of sustenance because it is from Allah…and do not carry the anxiety for the future because it is in the Hands of Allah.. Carry one thing: How to Please Allah. Because if you please Him, He Pleases you, fulfils you and enriches you. Do not weep from a life that made your heart weep…just say “oh Allah…compensate me with good in this life and the hereafter”. Sadness departs with a sajdah…happiness comes with a sincere du’a…Allah Does Not forget the good you do…nor Does He Forget the good you did to others and the pain you relieved them from…Nor Will He Forget the eye which was about to cry but you made it laugh.. Live your life with this principle: Be good even if you don’t receive good…not because of other’s sake but because Allah Loves the good doers”. Subhanallah! |
