AbdelKabir:Can't dispute any of the points you've raised. Working towards that. Soon, In shaa Allaah |
AbdelKabir:Aameen AbdelKabir:Lol. Not yet. |
AbdelKabir:I have a madrasah I attend on weekends. I've made some progress on Arabiyyah. We've almost completed book 1 of durusul lughatul arabiyyah and we'll be having assessments soon. The stress of work, traffic etc at times tends to affect my attendance (coupled with the occasional laziness ). But I'm trying in the little way I can. |
AbdelKabir:Lagos actually. Started work here at the start of the year. |
AbdelKabir:I've been fine. Alhamdulillah Nice to hear from you again. Been quite a while. |
AbdelKabir:Wa alaykum salaam warahmahtullah. Dear brother, how have you been? |
shaykhalislaam:So you say you're an islam reformer. Can you kindly explain what you mean by that? |
Exciton:Do you not just see the hypocrisy reeking out from the jabberwocky you just spewed. You complain of a set of people you deem as intolerant, yet you're the one who is hell-bent on making everyone be like you by imposing liberalism down their throats. If that is not double standard, then I don't know what is... |
AbdelKabir:Ma shaa Allah.. Really happy to hear that. May Allah grant you steadfastness and may your stay there be highly beneficial. |
Asalam alaykum brother AbdelKabir.
Bawo ni camp? |
iamgenius:I have absolutely no idea! |
Gosh! The hatred and bigotry in this country is sickening. People will just swallow anything they read hook, line and sinker without even doing the least of which is to reason. Now the police has come out to clarify the issue. Check out the facebook profile of the said pastor who originally made this defamatory accusation and you will notice that he has deleted the original post and instead has now posted the police press release. MY PEOPLE, WHY NOT USE THAT BRAIN AT TIMES? |
AbdelKabir:Actually, O make sense gan ![]() |
So I tested out the virgin coconut oil for my beards.
O make sense naa |
Life as we know it today brings with it all sorts of grief and stress and REGRET. Sometimes this grief is due to a financial worry, other times it’s relating to a health concern whilst other times, this stress and fear could be because of an enemy who is in the waiting. The stress of this Dunya comes in many different sizes, shapes and forms. However how intense this level of stress may become in the life of a person today, it doesn’t usually cause a mother to forget her child, nor does it usually cause a child to go grey, nor does it usually cause people to behave as if they were drunk. These three (3) descriptions above are the descriptions of the stress of exclusively one day alone; The Day of Judgement. “The Day you shall see it, every nursing mother will forget her nursling, and every pregnant one will drop her load, and you shall see mankind as in a drunken state, yet they will not be drunken, but severe will be the Torment of Allah”. [Al-Hajj 22:2] “Then how can you avoid the punishment, if you disbelieve, on a Day that will make the children go grey-headed”. [Al-Muzammil 73:17] One of the other names of Yawn al-Qiyamah (The Day of Judgement) is Yawm al-Hashr (The Day of Regret). The Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings be upon him) has in fact informed us of several matters that will bring regret on the Day of Judgement and we shall discuss six (6) of them in this write-up, In shaa Allaah. 1.) NOT GIVING SURATUL BAQARAH ITS DUE ATTENTION: This most likely sounds surprising to most people. When the rewards are distributed on the Day of Judgement to the people of the Qur’an and specifically, the people of Suratul Baqarah, those who had ignored this surah will be taken by regret. Abu Umamah reported: The Messenger of Allaah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Recite Surat al-Baqarah as there is blessing in it, there is sorrow in leaving it, and the sorcerers cannot confront it”. Sahih Muslim 804. 2.) ANY GATHERING WHERE THE NAME OF ALLAH IS NOT MENTIONED: Imam Abu Dawud reported in an authentic hadith in his Sunan on the authority of Abu Hurayrah that the prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “No people who leave a gathering without having mentioned Allah in it, but they leave it like leaving a dead donkey, and it will cause deep grief to them”. 3.) THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO ASPIRED FOR POSITIONS OF AUTHORITY: Abu Hurayrah narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said, “You will be keen to attain authority and it will be a source of regret on the Day of Resurrection. So what an excellent wet-nurse it is and what an evil weaner”. Sahih Al-Bukharee 262 The last sentence in this hadith compares those who crave for positions of authority with the breastfeeding child who is always receiving nutrition readily available from his mother. But there has to come a day when that child must be weaned and the milk has to come to a stop. So those who aspired for positions of status and authority without deserving them will realise on the Day of Judgement that their wealth and prestige will be of no help to them. 4.) A PERSON WHO PUTS FORWARD ACTS OF WORSHIP BUT THEY CONTAIN WITHIN THEM HIDDEN ELEMENTS OF SHOWING OFF: A person who has dedicated years upon years of what he calls worship and Qur’an, Salah, Fasting, Dhikr, Da’awah etc. and they see these good deeds in the forms of mountains on the day of Judgement and to his horror, they begin to crumble before his very eyes. Ibn Maajah (4245) narrated from Thawbaan that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “I certainly know people of my ummah who will come on the Day of Judgement with good deeds like the mountains of Tihaamah, but Allaah will make them like scattered dust”. Thawbaan said: “O Messenger of Allaah, describe them to us and tells us more, so that we will not become of them unknowingly. He said: “They are your brothers and from your race, worhsipping at night as you do, but they will be people who when they are alone, transgress the sacred limits of Allaah”. 5.) WHEN ONE FINDS HIMSELF FORCED ON THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT TO HAND OVER GOOD DEEDS TO SOMEBODY ELSE OR WHEN FORCED TO CARRY THE SINS OF SOMEBODY ELSE: This can occur as a result of oppressing or wronging another person. “Whoever has wronged his brother with regard to his honour or something, let him ask for forgiveness before the time when there will be neither dinar or dirham, and if he has any good deeds it will be taken from him in proportion to the wrong he did, and if he does not have any good deeds (hasanaat), some of the other person’s evil deeds (sayi’aat) will be taken and given to him to bear”. (Reported by al-Bukharee, 2296). 6.) ANY MUSLIM INDIVIDUAL WHO FALLS SHORT WITH REGARDS TO THE TIME HE SPENDS IN LIFE WITHOUT STRIVING TO BUILD FOR HIS HEREAFTER: This point is as self-explanatory enough and simply, the greatest regret there could ever be is the regret of missing the prize of Jannah. These people will break down in regret on that day saying: “Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my (future) life!” (Al-Fajr 89:24}) In conclusion, every individual who turns a blind eye and pretends that the day of regret is not coming is going to be in an excruciating state of major regret on that day. Brothers and sisters, these are six (6) of the many matters that will bring regret on the day of judgement. The preparation starts from today and we need to set goals for tackling every one of these six matters. “And warn them of the Day of regret, as the command is decreed, and they are in a state of heedlessness, and they do not believe”. (Maryam 19:39). Culled from a lecture by Ali Hammuda |
AbdelKabir:Let me add one more sef. Had a shocking conversation with my little cousin yesterday whereby she claimed she is an "omo olojo". When I asked what she meant by that, she said on the day she was born, it rained and on the day of her naming ceremony, it rained. She then went on to infer that it was her spirit bringing the rain. AudhubiLlah! I had to caution her immediately and explain to her how wrong that thinking was. This is just one out of many of the little littke beliefs people hold that are dangerous to one's faith. I'm sure that idea probably came to her head from watching Africa Magic. |

AbdelKabir:Alright. Well, the issue now is that I'm done with service. Left Offa for home 2 weeks ago. Just making plans to resume my studies. But not quite settled for now. |
Asalam alaykum AbdelKabir.
Have you seen your posting? |
AbdelKabir:Don't know too much about this. But I know it's possible for a soldier to face disciplinary action from his superiors if he is found to have misbehaved with a corper. The only thing soldiers have power to do most times is shout, intimidate and give punishment. |
AbdelKabir:Wa iyakum |
AbdelKabir:Well, sisters have the right to cover properly in camp. Only on the condition that the hijab has to be white and not any other colour. Then they should try to avoid free mixing and any other avenue for fitnah as much as possible. I've heard stories of sisters being harassed in camp though over their hijab (most especially in eastern or southern states) but once they stand firm and not compromise, I don't think there will be much problem. Even at times, soldiers might want to haggle people for going to the masjid to pray. The trick we used then was to make sure we walk in multitudes when leaving the mosque. That way, they could do us no harm. It's not easy though. Camp is a place filled with many things that can destroy one's faith. |
AbdelKabir:Alhamdulillah, I've been fine too. Service ends in few weeks, In sha Allah. By the way, congrats on your recent graduation. Barakallahu Feekum |
AbdelKabir:Wa alaykum salam warahmatullah Brother, how are you doing? |
AhluSunnah:Chai! AhluSunnah the lover boy ![]() He's looking for a "salaf" to marry ![]() Honestly though, your utterances have been nothing but a source of comic relief to me recently. |
Been searching a long time for this. Jazakallahu khairan brother. |
So I got thinking..... Names in which any word such as al-Deen (the Religion) is added are considered makrooh by majority of scholars. Examples of such names are Noor al-Deen/Nuruddin (Light of the Religion), Diya’ al-Deen/Ziauddin (Brightness of the Religion) etc. My name happens to fall in this category. Perhaps that's why understanding its meaning took me a lot of time. These names actually started out as titles given to people and then later generations began to adopt them as real names. Imaam al-Nawawi (may Allaah have mercy on him), didn't like being called by his nickname "Muhiy al-Deen". Likewise, Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) used to dislike being called by his nickname "Taqiy al-Deen" but he said, “But my family gave me this nickname, so I am known by it.” I realised I could actually decide to change my name to a more preferable one (with the consent of my parents). Don't know how easy that might turn out to be. Then again, some scholars still kept these names irrespective. Shaykh Al-Albani (Rahimahullah) still kept his name of "Nasirudeen" despite knowing all this. Likewise Dr. Sharofdeen Raji. Just pondering...... |
Shocking! |
Jazakallahu khairan Honestly, whenever I remember this hadith, I become really fearful for our sisters. May Allah rectify our affairs. |
Mofpearl:Well, I don't go out that much. But the only other place I know well is Obasanjo's presidential library. It's probably the second major tourist centre people visit. Mofpearl:More or less, people use both terms to talk of the same place. But in actual fact, Sango is a separate place while Ota is another separate place. Just that they're next to each other, so the whole area is fondly called Sango-Ota. |
). But I'm trying in the little way I can.
