Politics › Re: NBC Director-general, Emeka Mba, Arrested by aieromon(m):
God bless Ibrahim Magu and the whole EFCC team.

Copy of the petition sent to PMB and ICPC

Between the months of May 2013 shortly after Mr. Mba assumed office as D-G NBC up till date it has been a free fall for broadcasting in Nigeria. Our petition is therefore against willful acts and criminal omissions that occurred in the course of the period at NBC offices in Asokoro, Abuja with fall in standard of broadcasting nationwide i.e. massive licensing of unqualified Operators and violation of the NBC Code.

PETITION AGAINST MR EMEKA MBA, DIRECTOR-GENERAL, NATIONAL BROADCASTING COMMISSION (NBC)

We are a group of concerned nationalists who are in the vanguard of making Nigeria a better place for all Nigerians to live. In the spirit of the on-going reformation and rebirth of our country, Nigeria, under President Muhammadu Buhari, we are obliged to petition your office over the extensive damage done to the Broadcast Industry in Nigeria by Emeka Mba the serving Director General 2013-2015.

Since Mr. Mba assumed the mantle of leadership at NBC, a hitherto very professional, prudent and well respected regulatory body, all things has been turned upside-down, NBC is losing her glory in the minds of Nigerians and seasoned professionals in the industry. A result of Emeka Mba holding sway like an Emperor in the old Roman Empire.

1. Excessive lobbying to remain in office:
Since the inception of the present administration Emeka Mba has resorted to intense lobbying to retain his position. This is notwithstanding that he used the funds of the NBC to bankroll the campaign election of the immediate past President, Goodluck Jonathan (subject to further investigation by the relevant agencies.)

Mr. Mba is bent on destroying broadcast in Nigeria with his reckless expenses, nepotic (refusal to stop Radio Biafra), corrupt ways. Mr. Mba has absolutely no regards or respect for compliance with mandatory Government bureaucracy in a bid to attract illegal gains to himself and his cronies.
This petition is submitted for the following and other reasons that may be discovered after a thorough investigation is carried out into the affairs of the NBC under Mr. Mba 2013 -2015.

2. Single Award of Contracts:
Mr. Mba has awarded contracts and issued licenses in contravention of the procurement laws of Nigeria. Typical example is the award of the software contract he recently awarded to a firm that had the highest quotation and the least competence.

3. Reckless Issuance of licenses:
Mr. Mba has solely awarded contracts and licenses without the approval of the Board of the NBC or its tender’s board. All the licenses issued in the twilight of the immediate past administration were issued without the compulsory security clearance from the Department of State Security. Statutory fees were neither demanded nor paid in the process.

4. Loss in revenue from licenses:
Mr. Mba has awarded such contracts and licenses to his friends and cronies with the full intention of making the L.G. lose millions of Naira. These include TV, Radio and DTH licenses. Backdated approvals are still being issued for licenses and contracts up till date (kindly note that collection of these losses in revenue will boost the present regime finances).

5. Non approval of extra budgetary expenses:
Mr Mba has appropriated monies belonging to the Federal Government unlawfully. Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) is spent without recourse to statutory approvals and or budgetary allocations.
Mr. Mba has made huge expenditure without prior or subsequent budgetary approval. His personal expenditure is unrivaled in the history of NBC. He is bent on leaving an empty purse whenever he leaves office.

6. Violation of code of conduct of NBC:
Mr. Mba has deliberately and for personal gain frustrated the policies of the Federal Government in relation to broadcasting by constantly approved the violation the code of conducts of NBC by encouraging his favourites to get away with copyright violation, piracy and not to be broadcast musical and video.

These are some of the reasons for our petition. Demands investigation into the finances and books of the NBC in the past ten years to show the trend since Mr. Mba took over at NBC 2013 NTBB Code of Conducts.

We therefore seek your IMMEDIATE INTERVENTION by investigating the NBC with a view to saving Nigeria and public funds from being frittered away.

Thank you.

Politics › #dasukigate: Buhari’s Associate, Jafaru Isa, Returns N100million To EFCC by aieromon(op): 8:19am On Jan 11, 2016
A former military governor of Kaduna State and chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Jafaru Isa, has refunded N100million of the N170 million he allegedly received from embattled ex-NSA, Sambo Dasuki.

Mr. Isa, a retired brigadier-general, was arrested on Wednesday by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, at his Asokoro residence in Abuja.

Mr. Isa, a political associate of President Muhammadu Buhari, was grilled for several hours in connection with about N170 million he received from Mr. Dasuki.

A reliable source familiar with the matter told PREMIUM TIMES the APC chieftain and member of the 19-man Buhari Transition Committee was released after refunding N100million to the anti-graft commission.

The source said Mr. Isa pledged to return the remaining N70million soon.

“We let him go after returning the sum of N100million. We are expecting him to return the rest soon,” the source said.

According to him, some of the suspected recipients of the slush funds who claimed they had no idea the money sent to them was taken from the public till were handed opportunities to return what they got from the former NSA but refused.

“We offered them the chance of returning the money honorably but they keep deploying tactics to avoid prosecution, while also going away with the loot,” he said.

A close associate of Mr. Isa told PREMIUM TIMES that Mr. Dasuki lodged over N100 million into Mr. Isa’s account in instalments to buy a house, located on Mohammed Mohammed Avenue, Kano, for the former NSA.

PREMIUM TIMES gathered that deposits were in turn made by Mr. Isa to the owner of the house, Ali Tukur, in two instalments.

However, the house purchase deal collapsed as a former Minister of Finance, Yarima Ngama, reportedly offered to pay the sum of N150 million cash when Mr. Dasuki reneged on the payment agreement.

Those familiar with their relationship say Messrs. Isa and Dasuki have been close friends since their cadet days at the Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA) and had spent four years together while on military training in the United States.

The Peoples Democratic Party had on Sunday protested the release of Mr. Isa barely eight hours after his arrest while its own spokesperson, Olisa Metuh, remained detained.

The PDP, in a statement signed by its National Legal Adviser, Victor Kwon, said there could be no clearer indication that the APC-led administration was on a manhunt against PDP leaders, and that it had a personal grudge against Mr. Metuh, ostensibly for his stance as opposition spokesperson, particularly his recent exchange with the government and the APC over their dictatorial activities.

““The release of Jafaru Isa, a known associate of the President and chieftain of the APC eight hours after his arrest while our spokesman remains in detention even when the two are being investigated over the same allegation clearly shows that the President Buhari-led APC government is not fighting corruption but using the much hyped crusade as a cover to persecute PDP leaders and decimate the opposition, a project the EFCC has clearly yielded itself as a willing tool,” the statement said.

Picking unknown numbers can actually lead to disappearance but I'm not sure if it can cause death .it happened in my family when my cousin's dad/my aunt's husband disappeared after picking a call.he dropped his phone on the bed and since then till tomorrow he has been no where to be found. It also happened to my cousin's husband on there wedding day . He picked his call in his hotel room while preparing to go to the event venue and left the room .since then he has not been found till date. Its now over 4 years. So with this 2 cases ,I believe people could actually disappear by receiving an unknown call.

No problem, the press release is unnecessary. Visit the ONSA as advertised and present your documents.

About 241 companies, individuals and organizations will go before the Office of National Security Adviser (ONSA) over contracts awarded by the office between 2011 and 2015.

The Nation reports that the office warned those involved to appear as those who do not, might be embarrassed.

ONSA, in an advertorial in this newspaper, said the companies and representatives of the organisations and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) must appear before its Contracts’ Verification Committee between January 12 and 26. It issued the directive following these companies’, NGOs’ and individuals’ failure to heed the earlier call on them to report at the committee.

They are to appear with: certificate of incorporation, particulars of directors, company tax clearance certificates and directors’ from 2011 to date, letter of award of contracts, evidence of payment so far, outstanding balance and any other documents considered relevant to the contract, such as certified bank statements.

Afenifere leaders had endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan for a second term in office in what was seen as a bribe induced meeting orchestrated by the embattled governor of Ondo state, Olusegun Mimiko inside Pa Fasoranti’s residence in Akure.

But on Thursday, the Afenifere leaders retraced their steps and revealed “we only endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan because he promised to implement the recommendations of the National Conference if elected back to power. We didn’t collect money from him for such endorsement, and none gave us money as currently being spread”.

Saharareporters correspondent reports that among leaders present at the meeting were Chief Olu Falae, Bashorun Seinde Arogbofa, Korede Duyile and Femi Aluko.

Following Fasoranti, the former Secretary to Government of the Federation and National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Olu Falae said Afenifere leaders have always been on the side of General Muhammadu Buhari and cited his days while contesting under the platform of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in 2007.

Falae disclosed how he raised almost N21 million for the campaign of General Buhari during the 2007 election with an agreement for the convocation of the National conference if he eventually emerged the country’s president.

As controversy continues to trail president Goodluck Jonathan’s sudden romance with different groups in the South West, fresh facts have emerged that some prominent Yoruba elders got a whopping N750million as bribe in exchange for their support for Jonathan’s re-election bid, The ELITES reports

Fresh facts have emerged over why a few Yoruba leaders under the guise of Afenifere socio-political group reportedly endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan’s reelection bid. A whopping N750m is the carrot that was dangled before the elders.

Presenting a common interest under the banner of Afenifere, The ELITES’ findings revealed that the elders allegedly involved include former FINANCE Minister and presidential candidate of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), Chief Olu Falae; Chief Reuben Fasoranti, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, Chief Lanihun Ajayi and Senator Femi Okurounmu.

Governor Segun Mimiko of Ondo State and Publicity Secretary of Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin, are said to have brokered the deal that got the Yoruba leaders rewarded for coming out in the open to pledge their support for Jonathan.

http://newtelegraphonline.com/took-n100m-anenih-falae/

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Chief Olu Falae, has admitted that he collected N100 million from the former chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). New Telegraph had exclusively reported yesterday that a former SGF and erstwhile governor in the South-West got N100 million each from the N260 million given to Anenih by the office of the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd).

Falae told New Telegraph yesterday that the money was purely an interparty affair between the PDP and the Social Democratic Party (SDP), which he is the National Chairman. The former presidential candidate said the money was given to the SDP to effectively campaign for the PDP in the 2015 presidential election. According to him, in the build up to the 2015 general elections, the PDP and SDP entered into working agreement.

His words: “In the build up to the presidential election, the PDP approached the SDP which I chaired. The then ruling party solicited for our support in order for President Goodluck Jonathan to win the March 28 presidential election. “Anenih related with me as the chairman of the PDP BoT and I did same as the SDP National Chairman. He wrote to me as PDP BoT chairman and I wrote back as SDP National Chairman stating conditions/terms for the alliance.
Baba, abeg return the money. I no talk pass this one.

The rumors have pointed toward an early 2016 launch for the Xiaomi Mi 5 for a while, but this has now been confirmed by one of Xiaomi’s co-founders, Li Wanqiang, on Chinese microblogging site Weibo. The Xiaomi Mi 5 is currently in mass production for a launch following Chinese New Year on February 8.

We also now know for sure that the Mi 5 will be powered by the Snapdragon 820. So far all reports of the Snapdragon 820 have it being a huge improvement over the problematic Snapdragon 810, which crippled several of 2015’s major flagships. The Mi 5 will pack 4 GB of RAM and have 32 GB and 64 GB models.

Other rumors about the Mi 5 include full metal construction, fingerprint scanner, QHD display, a 16 MP primary camera and massive 13 MP front-facing camera along with a huge 3,600 mAh battery featuring Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 standard.

Interestingly, the Mi 5 is rumored to have a 5.2-inch display, cramming in a huge 565 ppi. Previously leaked price details have the device at the equivalent of $310 and $390 US dollars, but these prices are not yet confirmed.
