Bevista: Can you please explain what is great about the story? I do not understand the business model of Travelex. --- Where is Travelex going to get dollars from? Their major strength is in supply of pre-paid currency cards to retail customers. They do not necessarily have to transact any business with physical foreign exchange. |

Vicadonis: I respect this guy any day. always objective. Buhari definitely needs new and intelligent advisers He already has intelligent advisers. Let Ozekhome keep wailing to the high heavens. FG has inaugurated the Presidential Advisory Committee against Corruption and appointed Professor Itse Sagay (SAN), a prominent professor of law and civil rights activist, as its head.
THISDAY yesterday exclusively reported the constitution of the committee and its membership.
A statement by the president’s media aide, Mr Femi Adesina, said the committee’s brief was to advise the present administration on the prosecution of the war against corruption and the implementation of required reforms in Nigeria’s criminal justice system.
The committee is also expected to develop comprehensive interventions for achieving recommended reforms.
The statement said in support of the federal government’s efforts, an Anti-Corruption and Criminal Justice Reform Fund has been established by three international development partners, namely, the Ford Foundation, MacArthur Foundation and Open Society Foundation.
“The $5 million fund is to assist implementation of key components of the action plan and the work of the Presidential Advisory Committee.
“The fund will be managed by Trust Africa, an international development civil society organisation with programme presence in more than 25 African countries,” the statement said.
Other members of the committee are: Prof. Femi Odekunle, a professor of Criminology of Ahmadu Bello University; Dr. Benedicta Daudu, an associate professor of International Law, University of Jos; Prof. E. Alemika, professor of Sociology, University of Jos; Professor Sadiq Radda, professor of Criminology, Bayero University, Kano; Hadiza Bala Usman, civil society activist; and Professor Bolaji Owasanoye of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies who will serve as the executive secretary of the committee. |

When a man like Tompolo recommends a non-entity to the President to be the DG of a revenue-generating agency, you know the pillaging of NIMASA is already over before it even started. Akpobolokemi answered to no one and had direct access to Jonathan so nobody could touch him. Akpobolokemi and his godfather,Tompolo turned NIMASA into their personal company and looted the whole place clean.
Let the man face the consequences of his actions. If that judge grants him bail today,I'm sure Magu has another arrest waiting for him. |

Politics › Switzerland To Transfer Another $300 Million Abacha Loot To Nigeria – Minister by aieromon(op): 7:54pm On Jan 11, 2016 |
The government of Switzerland is prepared to transfer to the Nigerian government, another $300 million recovered from the family of former military ruler, Sani Abacha, foreign minister, Geoffrey Onyeama, announced Monday.
The money is part of an estimated $5 billion stolen and stashed in foreign accounts by the late dictator.
Nigeria has in the last 10 years received over $1 billion from the Swiss and American governments, but there are growing concerns past administrations misused the huge sum.
PREMIUM TIMES reported in December 2015 how former finance minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, with the approval of former President Goodluck Jonathan, authorised the diversion of at least N61.4 billion ($300 million and £5.5 million) from funds recovered from Mr. Abacha, to the Office of the National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, few weeks before the 2015 presidential election.
The former minister said the money, which was not approved by the National Assembly, was meant for purchase of military equipment for the fight against Boko Haram.
The money is believed to be part of at least $2.1 billion slush fund later distributed by Mr. Dasuki to politicians ahead of the polls. An ongoing investigation into the scandal as led to the indictment of several high profile figures. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/196616-switzerland-to-transfer-another-300-million-abacha-loot-to-nigeria-minister.html |
