I do not want Iheanacho in the AFCON squad because I am not a fan of Rohr’s system and I do not think Rohr has what it takes to keep on improving Nacho. Nacho is better off without the AFCON distraction focusing on improving his game and soaking information from Rodgers. Thus training in a more offensive system.
when did improving/developing a player becomes the job of a national team coach. The NT is not a grooming center. That's why I am not in support of Samu joining the team for AFCON when there are options of playing for the age grade teams(where grooming takes place).

Players are invited to the national team to replicate their club performances. It's either you deliver or you are out. These set of players are even lucky. Imagine If Obagoal, had received half of the repeated chances given to nacho and Ighalo to redeem themselves. I bet you he would have been our second all time goal scorer just behind Yeking. Nacho and Ighalo have enjoyed a very rare grace. Just think of it. They both went 1year as Eagle's striker without a goal. Yet they were always the first on the list.

How many days do the players spend with these coaches when on national assignments. So cut Rohr{though not fan of his) some slack.

If we are to go by your claim, it is better he stay out of the national team till the time Rohr sees out his contract.

How time flies!

Can't believe that the same set of people who stood vehemently against the idea of Nacho been dropped from the national team immediately after the world cup are now in support of the motion. I remember them calling us haters(still don't know who brought that word to this thread- one of the reasons I lost interest in commenting). But I believe that those who want him out them were his true supporters.

I wanted him out so he could buckle up in his club and earn his place in the national team before Afcon 19. Making it now looks like a mirage. I hope he discover his old self.

S. MOSES, CHUKWUEZE, HENRY, S. KALU
I'll pick Simon Moses ahead of Samu, Henry and S. Kalu.
I don't know how we forget things quickly. Is it not the same Simon that was instrumental to our World Cup Qualification? Oh. His pairing with V. Moses on the flanks was beauty to watch. It was painful seeing him missing out at the Mundial. His wealth of experience and understanding of African football will come to play at Afcon. So why drop him!

Of a truth, Samu has potential and that is it for now - POTENTIAL.
I'll rather have him drafted to the U-20 world cup. He can continue his development there. He needs it more than anyother things
Note: He hasn't even reach Nacho's first professional year Stat(14goals and 8 assist or so in lesser time) . Still waiting for end of season before I pass my judgement on the lad.

FIFA and The French Ballon D'or organizers should apologize to Wesley Sneidjer. As he was what Modric is in 2010.
Champions League trophy with Inter Milan
World Cup Finalist with Netherland
Italian Serie A winner
Scudetto champion
Etc. But Messi was chosen ahead of him.

Congrats to Luka Modric. World Best Player!

Happy for him. Well deserved. Normalty is been restored to the award. Football is not all about the scorers. There are players who work harder to make their teams win and they have been overlooked over the years due to Messi- Ronaldo strong football influence.

Once again congrats to the man Luka Modric.

I'll suggest that Africa as a whole should have a single team representing it at the next world cup.
That way, we will stand a chance of unsettling the world football order.

Imagine Salah, Mane, Auba, Mahrez leading the attack, Ndidi, Keita, Iwobi as Midfielders, Balogun, Koulibaly, at the heart of defense in a single team.

Am I exaggerating if I say Chukwueze is the biggest talent Nigeria has produced since Mikel?
It is still early. Based on his age, I'll give it to Iheanacho.

Chukwueze is a gem-ain't gonna argue that. But hasn't done half of what Nacho did in his first professional season at 19too

Don't forget, it only took Nacho 4 minutes to get get his first professional goal for city and less than 20 minutes to double it. He went on to score 14 goals from 16 shots on target that same season, No Nigeria player in recent time has made the kinda rave Nacho made during his first pro - season.

So, on Chukwueze been the biggest talent Nigeria has produced since Mikel, I'll have to wait till May 2019.

Kelechi is not a poor footballer

I think he is the most naturally gifted player we have at the moment

The problem is he is comfortable sitting on the bench as long as he is paid at the end of the week,he simply lacks motivation
You nailed it.

That's one of the reason I want him to be excused from the NT. He needs to find his WHY? One or two omission(s) from Eagles camp might do wonders and probably could be enough reason for him to work harder.

He is one player I had and still have so much expectation on. Remember those days when his training clips under Pellegrini were posted here. The Talent is there - no doubt about that. Remember one classic bicycle kick he scored that made the whole Manchester City players and their coaching crew then clap for him.

He seems to be lazy these days or perhaps complacent.

I hope he gets his Mojo back.

Then, it was Martial, Rashford and Kelechi. The Manchester Boys making front page of newspapers before the arrival of Mbappe.

But these three fell asleep at the same time and they've been pushed out of the newspaper. Martial is the only one of the three fighting his way back into relevance.

I wish Kelechi well.

Rohr does not rate Henry as we do here.

Our attack is ok for now. Ighalo, Success, Iheanacho Osimhen in that order can serve us for now.
We are also spoilt with options too on the flanks. Musa, Simon Moses, Kalu, Henry, Chukwueze in that order too.

Our defense is okay for now. I don't see us having a problem if they are all fit. Balogun, Ekong, Omuero, Awaziem, Ajayi, Ebuehi, Collins, Aina, Idowu. We are well covered here too.

Areas that need urgent fixing are
GOALKEEPING DEPARTMENT.
A young 3rd choice Goalkeeper is needed. Shouldn't be older than 24years.

MIDFIELD DEPARTMENT.
We need to recruit solid midfielders to be a backup to these guys. (Suggestions in the bracket)
Iwobi(Eze)
Ndidi(Philip Billing)
Mikel(will be hard to replace - Rohr and his scouts should widen their net)
Ogu-desent but aged
Etebo-epileptic player(today he is good, tomorrow he is a passenger)

The following players should either sit up or be excused from the team.
Iheanacho
Etebo
Idowu

Excusing them might do them a lot of good as they will see more reasons to sit up. Pampering them by handing them callups based on ancient time performance will not bring the best out of them.

It is so sad that these guys see the national team as their birthright. This will not only affect their international football output but it will turn them to lazy players at their respective clubs too. Imagine Rohr dropping Nacho. That boy will do anything possible to find his mojo back so as not to miss AFCON 19.

But Baba Rohr no de reason like that. He is a loyalist. Idowu's goal and performance against Argentina last year November is still the reason he is invited.

The National team should be competitive in all areas and no player should be indispensable. The 3named players have been given enough time and repetitive chances to redeem themselves but they have failed to do the needful and they don't seem worried.

I was opportuned to watch the first half before I abandoned the match.
Here are my deductions:
Samuel Chukwueze is a quality player with potential. He possess skills needed in a winger. He played like a professional. No jittering. He is one for the future.

Osimhen has improved.

Our Midfield still needs strengthning. We need a regista who can control play from deep.

Finally, Rohr did not disappoint once again. *smiles*

Of a truth SA are now our football rival.

Our pride is gone.

SMH.

Mourinho's first season in Manchester United was a success as it was full of trophies. But do you know what, Man U fans weren't satisfied with his style of football. They were complaining despite him getting results for them. They knew they were in a rebuilding stage but they understood the difference between Results and Progress. He was getting results but his team wasn't progressing... Guadiola on the other hand struggled to get result at first but his team was progressing... Today both sides are miles apart.

Recently Paul Scholes and other ex-manchester players have been complaining about same... I don't blame them. They are only demanding for more! The more some here think is too much to demand from Rohr and his team.

Sooner or later Rohr's results will vanish and we will be back to the drawing board as usual... We are no football minnows on the continent and if we must win or loose against any African sides we should do so with class and pride.

Was able to catch up with the last 10mins of the Super Falcons match this evening. But I was disappointed with what I saw. They played like their male counterparts (SEs) the difference was that they didn't get the result this time around.

Our national teams have been dishing out crappy football in recent time. The u-20women have been the worst so far.

I hope the pro-Rohr group enjoyed the match.

Me I'm allergic to crappy soccer.

Note: I was a staunch Rohr's supporter during the World Cup Qualifiers. I have castigated folks like Mikael2 and Goldfish80 in the past in his defense. But during the pre-world cup friendlies and the tournament proper my eyes were open. I know the man for who he is.

You guys can go on to say whatever you like, but one thing I'm so sure of is that, sooner or later you will agree with us.

And what will the new players be doing? Sitting on the bench? Coming in late? Failing to hold possession with neat interchange of passes? What will Rohr do differently with new players?

A team that has been together for 3years yet still struggle to string passes together.

No wonder a news media used the word 'Limp' to describe our team at the World Cup.

We were out played by the SAs. How does that sound to the ear sef? We need to be thinking big and set examples for other African countries to follow.

There is what is called pride bro. I guide mine with my life, hence I never settle for less. One thing I believe in, stay away from a fight that doesnt worth it buh whenever a minor tries to rise above his level in disrespect to his superiors, beat him to stupor to serve as a deterrent to others. We have everything in our Arsenal, why should we be so soft on opponents like SA. No disrespect to SA buh if they had the quality we had, they would mop the floor with us. The had more injury worries and withdrawals, yet they looked more coordinated with their play than us that have had majority of our players playing together for more than 3years now. If we played good football and ended up wt the score he got, I wouldn't mind, buh fvck it, we were damne poor like a cow dung

Rohr is a disgrace. I want him gone for a coach who understands what it means to protect the pride of a nation.
you can say that all over again!

I don't know why our people are been conservative with the truth.

Well, me o. I'm not impressed one bit about this man called Rohr and his results. The truth of the matter is that we are not progressing as a team. One needs to separate RESULTS from PROGRESS.

I watched Holland play yesterday and I marveled. They are rebuilding after they missed out in this year's world cup. Their new team is less than 2years (post Robben Era) but it is more obvious that they are on the rise. Sense of purpose in their play, clear cut pattern of football, the boys are getting better with each match. They defeated the World Champions yesterday with a team with average players just like ours(cos Aside Van dyke others are just average too). They qualified from a group that has Germany and France.

But ask these Rohr's defenders that aside qualification for the World Cup and AFCON what else can we say about his team.
No improvement in pattern of playe. No winning mentality in the boys. Na to de experiment up and down.

A lowly SA are even calling us their rivals. What an insult! We went out against them today seeking for a draw. It's like Wales calling Germany their football rival.

Something needs to be done asap. Else we will just waste this pool of talent at our disposal. It's so sad.

I noticed it too. Everything Rohr said there is what any layman would say. No comment on tactics and strategy. No in-depth game analysis, nothing. Just rambling about nothing.....

In many ways Rohr reminds me of Buhari. Old, dull, slow to react, unintellectual, incoherent of speech and seemingly unaware of events happening around them.
Had Rohr lodge a complaint to the fourth official or better still vent his anger on the first disallowed goal, I don't think the ref and linesman would have been more cautious with their calls.

The point is in the absence of Mikel you should have a solid alternative to Iwobi regardless. Eze comes to mind. Even Mikel will not give you 100% every matchday. You always need to have a solid replacement in every department. That’s our problem.

Anybody who still defends Rohr is simply blind. At the end of the 1st half I already knew it was not a good day for Iwobi and KC. But Baxter was still the first to make the first sub. What bothers me about this team is that Rohr have kept most of the players together for about 3 years now, but we cannot still string good passes consistently. On the other hand, SA have brought On several new names but you can always count on them to give u a good game regardless of the result.

IMO this team will not win the AFCON.
Spot on. But does Rohr know this.
