Sorry if I am drifting away from today's match but....this is what Pep himself said today.

"West Ham created problems, had chances
and played good. After the summer time,
after most of them having just four
training sessions, it is normal to make
mistakes, but is it good! It is better to see
it in the games than in training sessions;
training is fake, not real, and when you
play against a real opponent, that is the
best way to improve.

Cc theGoodJoe, why have you then been telling us that training is what improves a player when Pep himself has pointed out that trainings are fake? This should be a sound advice for all players moving this season, don't go to a club just to go there and train, go to where you'd be sure of regular playing time. Finito
*FINITO* In TheGoodJoe's voice.

@Mickael2 Thanks for bringing this here. You've put an end to this age long argument. Can you put Guardiola words in bold and colors for everyone to see... This statement is monumental!

I hope we can now rest. 5years no be small thing.

His ability to read games is very poor and he reacts too slow in making tactical changes.
Rohr is the problem... Nothing more.

We played about 4 pre-world cup friendlies one against Argentina and 3 against European sides (Poland, England and a certain country I can't recollect @ the present) The whole world saw that our strength lies in the 3-5-2 formation. At the tournament proper, he reversed back and stuck to his age long tactics of 4-2-3-1 with makeshift player at the RB and continued experimenting till we were knocked out of the competition. Ever since, the team has been struggling to score. We went to the World Cup with average GKs. One year after, we flew to Cairo with this same guys despite the call to drop one of Akpeyi/Ezenwa for a much younger goalkeeper to understudy and get exposure. But baba no gree.

Fast forward to 2019, my man refused to change his approach. Here we are again. Some fans have become so passive that they believe and say 'there are no minnows in Africa football'. I believe this is just a way of consoling themselves. It was heartbreaking when we struggle to defeat teams like Seychelles and Madagascar(this ones even whooped our asses). Give any of Spain, England, Italy, Netherlands a country like San Marino, Malta, Luxembourg etc and see them put them in their rightful places.

One question for those who want Rohr to stay.
HAS THE SEs Progressed under him in the last 2years? Be honest with yourselves.

Glad to see Ebuehi train again.

Rohr would still have started Shehu and Awaziem ahead of him had he made it to AFCON. Such a conservative coach we have.

Can't wait to have him back in the NT. Aina on the Left, Ebuehi on the Right. No better way to solve the Full Back Equation. Rohr might just not use this formula. One of the reasons I want him out. He is Not progressive!

Those in support of Rohr to stay as the gaffer should signify by hitting the SHARE.

The team hasn't improved much. You are right on that. But we still got to the SF. That's Rohr's only saving grace.

The 3matches that remain as the highlight of his 3years reign are.
Nigeria VS Cameroon - Uyo where we won by 4-0

Nigeria VS Algeria - Uyo 3-1

Nigeria VS Argentina - Russia 4-2

Thought he was going to build on those amazing football... But alas he took the easiest way out-Conservatism. Obsolete and archaic approach. Where is even the counter attack his team was known for In his early days.

Well, I'm not disappointed.

You may have a point but this emotion ridden post makes it look really juvenile
We see things differently and this is not the first time I'm stating g this...

Awaziem might not be weak but wasn't solid. He was caught out of position few times. Hardly won ariel duels. He was a makeshift and there is not emotional in that. It was Shehu @the world cup.

He has done well to bring stability to the team. But if we must progress we must do so with someone else not Rohr.

People like Emeka from some godforsaken slum thinks Rohr is the best thing to happen to our football since Okocha..

How many super eagles coaches have actually enjoyed the financial support and patience Rohr has enjoined in the super eagles?
Shuaibu Amodu qualified us for the world cup and also reached the AFCON semi final but we saw how he was treated. Keshi won us the AFCON and reached the world cup round of 16 with a far less talented squad and amidst several fight with his employees but he was sacked...
Who is Rohr compared to them??
Some folks here like Mr Emeka obviously like licking the an*s of everything white...
*smiles* I knew we had a problem when folks started celebrating AFCON QUALIFICATION as if we are some sort of Burundi, Madagascar, or Somalia. Our absence in the last two editions has really damaged people's psyche.

Rohr is Average @ best... No doubt about that. His team reflects everything about him. Rigid, timid,...we've seen the best of him and that was in 2017 during world cup qualifiers. After then, he has shown us a limp Eagle, uncoordinated side, tactless team.,etc.

Still someone somewhere wants him to stay. The team hasn't improved one bit since 2017.

To those who think Rohr should be left alone. You are in for a long thing. He has helped us recover. Fine but he ain't taking us anywhere...

He is a coward and transfer fear into his players. He lacks idea going forward. He keeps repeating same mistakes over and over again... Did same @ the World Cup. Can't defend a 1-1.cant thinker his side to victory...

I hope Amaju will be brave enough to do the needful. For better hands we will surely get...

First of all, Congratulations to Algeria.
It's a well deserved victory. they did it in style and inflicted pain on 180 million people.
They edged us out not because they have better players but A BETTER COACH.

I can't believe we still have folks who still want Rohr to stay. Rohr staying is more or else being satisfied with Mediocrity.

Are you not tired with all this Make shift approach. Deploying personel to wrong positions. I knew it was going to backfire. Awaziem has been solid all through but against weaker sides.

I have always said this. Balogun remains our best defender. Rohr axed him without a replacement. He sets up his defense without a ball playing CB.

He and Alloy Chose a comic goalkeeper in Akpeyi (don't even know what to say about this guy). Akpeyi will always be Akpeyi... He went and hide himself behind the wall and couldn't jump/fly.

Rohr had 3years to assemble a team, yet he gave us this shit. I don't know why many celebrate him?
He experimented for 3years with no result. I think we deserve More.

As I have always said, we will never see the true potential of this team under Gernot Rohr.

Well done guys. We live to fight another day.

So, no one noticed Iwobi's show of strength in our last match.

Was surprised to see him on few occasions shielding the ball and showing abit of brawniness in the middle. He was hardly dispossessed nor knocked off the ball as it was during the group matches...

This AFCON gave him a full dose of physical football. Another player that did surprised me is Chukweze. Can't believe he was the tiny, fragile lad I saw in Chile 2015. The way he has been muscling his way through is outstanding for a kid of 20...

I wish the team all the best in their semi final clash with the desert foxes.

Ajax almost gets to champions league final

Netherlands male team finishes as Euro Nations league runner-up

Netherlands female team gets to the FIFA WC final.

Is Netherlands becoming the hub of football

What can naija learn from them?
Spot on.

I said similar thing last year when I noticed a sort of pattern in the Europeans approach to raising formidable team that can go on to dominate for 5 years at the international level.

Anytime you see these European national teams miss out in any major competition, I tell you, they are cooking something up. Their team is undergoing a sort of rebuilding process.

Look @ the French, Italians, Dutch, they've all followed similar pattern. Presently, Netherlands and Italy are pulling all strings together and I won't be surprised if come 2022 one of them stroll to the World Cup Finals. They both missed out at the previous edition but have been improving since then. They are mixing youthfulness with experience. Retiring the previous generation of super stars like Robben, Persie, Kuyt, Pirlo, Machisio, etc. The French did it with Ribery, Benzema, Valbuena, Nasri, after crashing out at the early stage in two successive world cups and guess what? They lifted the trophy.

We've missed out of 2 consecutive AFCONs I was expecting us to have raised a formidable team in our 4years of absence but what will have today is an eyesore... A team who has been together for 3 years under 1manager and still can't play a purposeful football is of no use. it's either something is wrong with the players or the coach.

I don't know when will get it right.

I don't know when we will get to see an African team play like that.

The rest of the world aside Oceania are heads and shoulder ahead of us in the round leather game.

This US female team may even old Rohr's eagle to a goalless draw. cool

Nigeria

Madagascar(Ahmad's factor)
Tazania(Amuneke's factor)

I see the above to be the trickest possible group Nigeria can find itself.
prior to the draws, when I said Madagascar will be one of the trickest team to face, I was run down by some folks who think football is played on paper.

I hope you can see for yourself...

Most guys here are too emotional to analyze the game without been sentimental.

Small thing, they say you are pessimist, unpatriotic, I appreciative etc.

I still repeat if Rohr ends up winning this competition, he should either step down as the coach or he remains while we get a better technical advisor. With him, we will not see the best eagle play.

you can say that all over again!

I don't know why our people are been conservative with the truth.

Well, me o. I'm not impressed one bit about this man called Rohr and his results. The truth of the matter is that we are not progressing as a team. One needs to separate RESULTS from PROGRESS.

I watched Holland play yesterday and I marveled. They are rebuilding after they missed out in this year's world cup. Their new team is less than 2years (post Robben Era) but it is more obvious that they are on the rise. Sense of purpose in their play, clear cut pattern of football, the boys are getting better with each match. They defeated the World Champions yesterday with a team with average players just like ours(cos Aside Van dyke others are just average too). They qualified from a group that has Germany and France.

But ask these Rohr's defenders that aside qualification for the World Cup and AFCON what else can we say about his team.
No improvement in pattern of playe. No winning mentality in the boys. Na to de experiment up and down.

A lowly SA are even calling us their rivals. What an insult! We went out against them today seeking for a draw. It's like Wales calling Germany their football rival.

Something needs to be done asap. Else we will just waste this pool of talent at our disposal. It's so sad.

Beautiful football in an high octane match. They left me wondering if our team can match them.

If we must go all the way to the final... Mikel will need to be at his best as a CMF Of DMF.

So many people here are just been emotional.

I started Moses in my lineup and they were all hell out cos their favorite player was omitted.

AFCON is a tournament and not a league. You can only win by been defensively strong and Moses Simon was there to provide cover for the defense and he did it perfectly well.

The team played better today. I think the only missing link is the CMF position. Mikel should agree to play there.

I'll like us to keep that shape for the last group dead rubber game against Madagascar with few TWEAKS. AKPEYI for the confidence sake, Mikel for Etebo, then Henry, Victor and Kalu can lead the attack for proper assessment.

You mean those two lucky goals? I didn't see any gulf in the match except for some dirty tactics the Germans used to win the game.

Don't forget that 4 of our best players were not in that match and the injury during the match didn't help.
Joined @ the stoppage time. Was told the 2goals came from set pieces and the other one was a mistake. Which buttressed my point
