City lost bodies going forward because Rodri is a one-man machine. He is impeccable in the buildup, switching play, progressing, creating and scoring and he is 6'3".

Bernardo had to drop deep to help bypass Arsenal's press. With Rodri out there were fewer overlaps on the right with Bernardo and Savio. Rodri switches the play quickly so the productless Doku would have had more times at going at Jurrien and Saka (later Kai).

Rodri is also incisive with his passing. He would have passed into the channels rather than around it which is hard when playing against a low block. Walker and Ruben became our outlets rather than Rodri.
