I have always been very clear about what the squad needs.

A CB, a LB, a LW and a CF.

And a coach.
We need 2 CFs. Jackson is not a CF, in case of injury to our top striker.

We should return to the old Chelsea abeg.

James Gusto

Fofana, Colwill, A. Silva, Chalobah

Dorgu or Ait-Nouri, Cucurella

Enzo, Lavia, Caicedo, Andrey Santos

Gallagher, Chukwuemeka

Nico Williams, Jackson (as a winger), Palmer, Madueke

Gyokeres, Nkunku

And a proper coach who knows the strengths of his players.

Tell me this team is worse than Aston Villa and Spurs and I'll curse the school you went to for collecting your fees. They defrauded you.
This Nico Williams, I think I need to watch him well. Not really blown away by little I saw of him.

I doubt it, if Jackson can play as a winger because he doesn't look like someone that can run the length of that field to push attack and support defence, constantly. Loan him out and get another natural backup finisher.

Your squad confirms that a CB and more additions in our attack is what is needed in the face of ffp restrictions - my stand.

On a second thought, I think Pochettino deliberately used Disasi and Badiashile in order to expose them to Arsenal's attacks which will put him in a good position to call for their sales or loans next month.

There shouldn't be any reason they should have started ahead of Silva and Chalobah, against Arsenal.

They won't tell you that arteta deliberately sat a little bit deeper and allow our attackers self destruct and then hit us quickly after each of our stupid turnover!
Arteta knew Jackson could be easily dispossessed when backing the post. I had migraine when constantly he got dispossessed and we got attacked. An African striker o. Disgusting.

Griffon:
If you’ve been following my takes on this, I’ve never said we are magnificent in front of goal. We obviously lack that firepower and there’s a need for reinforcements. However, when compared to our defensive figures, you’ll understand clearly that the reinforcements should even start from the backline or should I say the defensive system.

We are abysmal in front of goal but somehow manages 1.5 goals per game. If this was a Simeone led side, those paltry numbers from our attackers (at least from our own standards) are enough for him to win the title.

You simply need to understand that our defensive system is a mess. Having a lone man to screen the backline isn’t going to work in a midfield that has a stroller like Enzo - Caicedo would always suffer, those defenders would always get exposed. On the other hand, having error prone defenders like Disasi and Badiashile in our backline will never work, we would keep shooting ourselves on the foot. Lastly, having your best defenders lodged in the sickbay for months would never help us, we must find a way out of it.

All these needs to be addressed. It’s even the primary issue with this team. You don’t build a squad by stockpiling attacking players all over the place and expecting goals which definitely should transcend to victory, rather you start with a good defensive structure, one that would give your attacking bands the license to attack at will, whilst keeping the defensive system in shape.

Maybe he had such plan with the acquisitions of Caicedo and Lavia, but injuries won’t let us see through his plan.

Without a good defensive system, we are going nowhere. Sign Messi and Ronaldo today, we’ll end up fetching watching fans tennis score lines. 4-5, 5-4, 6-7.
I have mentioned Barca under Fraudiola to prove the assertion that you address your defence first before attack. Valdes was never better than Cech but he has more titles than the Chelsea legend. John Terry was defensively better than Pique, in fact Gerard was chased away from Epl before he found place to hide his flaws at Barca. But we know who won more titles in their careers. So, who helped these average keeper and defender to reach their heights? Your guess is as good as mine. That should tell you why even Mascherano succeeded at Barca as a CB but Barca coughed out serious money on their attackers and they dominated Europe, with silverwares.

Be that as it may, even when Chelsea boasted of better defenders and defensive system, we didn't win UCL until the tail end of careers of our legends. With solid defence, we still conceded and It took Drogba's dying minute header to save us in Munich before going ahead to win the elusive Ucl. Tell me, if Jackson and Sterling would have done that at Munich?

That 1.5 goals per match stat will not tell you we scored 4 goals against 9 men Spurs. The stat that will not reveal the number of PKs that Palmer scored and if not for infringements, maybe the likes of Jackson would have lost the big chances, as seen several times. The stat won't reveal the goal scored by Silva, a defender, against a Sheffield team that swallowed 88 goals already and yet Jackson couldn't score 1 goal. It won't tell you that opponents now understand they can risk to go all out and attack us because if we counter and face their keeper we may miss with Sterling and Jackson as major culprits.
You could have posted the goals per match for Aston villa and Newcastle too.

Is it not a shame that Aston Villa, Newcastle and Spurs have all scored more goals than our team with our fully fit top striker still playing but missing big chances that Watkins and Isak bury on a reg?

If we fail to do serious change in our attacking personels next season, teams will just look for how to nullify Palmer and that's the end as we have useless attackers remaining.

Loan out Jackson, throw away Sterling, call back Maatsen, buy a CB, buy two quality top strikers and a goal scoring LW - Bulk of the funds should go to get quality attackers.

Real Madrid conceded 2 goals and still won the game.

Real Madrid twice came from behind to win the game.

Some would rather want their favourite team to emulate Stoke City rather than aspire to be like the greatest football Club in Europe.
Look at that winner by Bellingham, I can bet it with Android17 Eruditor's last arm that Sterling and Jackson would have missed that chance.

The only way to win a match is to outscore your opponent. You cannot out-cleansheet an opponent - if both teams keep a cleansheet, it's called a draw.

West Ham have conceded 6 goals more than Chelsea this season and are higher in the log with -6 goal difference.

Newcastle that has conceded the same 52 goals are in 6th place. Villa and Spurs that have conceded just 3 goals less than Chelsea are fighting for UCL positions.

When you look at the trends, except for a TWO outliers like West Ham and Manyoo, 6 out of the 8 teams above Chelsea have outscored Chelsea this season, with half of then conceding around the same number of goals we've conceded.

Meanwhile, nobody from 10th place down has scored up to us, with a a couple of teams having actually conceded less than Chelsea this season.

Without resorting to absolutist and reductive arguments like attack good, defence bad, it is clear to me that Chelsea’s problems stem not from an inability to lock up shop, but an inability to kill off games..which are slightly overlapping but entirely different concepts.

That's why I focus very heavily on Sheffield in my analysis. A team like Chelsea should be expecting to outscore rhe team with the worst defensive record in EPL history. Even if they score 1, they should be loaded with 2 more in response.

At one point yesterday, Burnley had the same 2-1 scoreline that we held against Sheffield. The difference is, instead of wasting attacks or not even attacking at all (Nicolas Jackson didn't even bother to shoot on or off target that day), Burnley went and pumped them 2 more.

If the 19th placed team in the league can beat Sheffield 9-1(home and away) this season, then how cam we be discussing defending against such a team? That's football anathema.

Thank God we all saw what Jackson did yesterday. Tomorrow now, someone will start spinning a narrative that City defence locked up shop for a 1-0 win, instead of tbe truth that if Jackson wasn't such a disgraceful attacker, we might have won that match 3-1
All these Blueraydick, Timbros, Lordfalcao don't watch our matches and obviously they have below average football knowledge.

Meanwhile, the only positive from this season is that we created a lot of big chances in matches. We just need to get good finishers upfront for next season.

Everybody knows if Chelsea fix their defensive issues they will be in a better position on the league table than where they presently are.

Like Griffon rightly puts it, outscoring ur oppnent is a fantasy in modern football that is not practicable.

I checked Chlesea's last 10 games on Sky sports and I discovered Chelsea has conceded in 9 out of those 10(Bar the 6-0 Everton Trashing). Guess what? Chelsea only failed to score in 2 out of those 10 matches i.e vs Loserpool & Man city.

How will anybody see this and claim the attack is the culprit for Chelsea's woes when the defence can't keep opponents from scoring?
I won't lampoon your ignorance, since you are not a Chelsea fan and obviously you don't watch our matches regularly.

Even the best defence can still concede and that's exactly one of the reasons your team is out of Ucl as from the other end, you failed to score a goal. Let that sink in.

Because attack was surely our issue when we suggested that we need to improve on it.
You see Chelsea leading others in number of through passes in Epl. But we don't have great finishers at the end of most of them, that's why we failed to win matches.
