You expect a company that only has 67 percent of its customers paying plus charging for power at a loss to give you 24 hours of ppwer a day

If you were my worker and I paid you 60 percent of your salary one month and 40% of your salary the next and so on, you go gree work at 100%? No, you will work at 30 percent or not at all.

Go and look for your free power.
You are saying nonsense Mr man

Most people pay for what they don't consume yet you want us to pay more?

This is obviously not correct. I referenced the PWC report even though I have reservations.

This actually hurt cos I presently overpay for power that I don't consume to avoid accumulation. Many people do the same and I'm quite sure you do too (except if you have been metered). I just wonder why it's so easy for you to overlook the corruption, and ineptitude that these guys don't even try to hide. I can assure you that even if tariffs are increased to N300/kwh (many of us are already paying this much) without metering, they'll still post these same figures and claim that they're running at a loss.

Good morning to you too.
I really don't get his point,we have people paying over 300k for electricity monthly,so how many people can afford that,

And he would say he's not in support of the government

Okay, how many people can afford to pay for anything?

Since you think we are all poor, and cannot pay for any service, then that means that we should pay nothing for the food we eat, and the services we consume

Meaning that in the end you would get no service at all. Because no one can do anything for free, or for a price that is too cheap , because at the end of the day, we would all earn a low income., or no income. And you won't like it.

THINGS COST MONEY...and that includes power. Power costs money...money needed for expansion, money needed for staff welfare, and even more and more jobs. Money, my good man, MONEY!.

If you don't get that, sorry. That's effing life. You don't have to love it.

Before you quote me to abuse or whatever...ask yourself...would you do the work you do now for free, so that poor people can get your service offered for free? Because that's what you really want.
Lol

We ve been paying to be in darkness for ages and we complain about the amount we pay everyday

You talk about food,go to the streets and see how people are feeding,I wonder if you would tell someone earning below 50k to pay for electricity of 20k

I really don't understand how your theory would work,I'm sure Ghanaians aren't paying a fortune for electricity

The lifestyle of politicians obviously is not encouraging.
Most people see paying tax as robbing to poor to feed the rich.
Inflated budget
Fictional projects
Unnecessary appointments
Duplicate appointments
Luxurious official cars

These are ways they spend the little taxes we pay.

And they want Nigerians to pay willingly when we are not blind
That's why I find it funny when some people think people paying tax would solve our problems

They are private owned businesses, 60% private owned. GENCOS are even 100% owned by private companies. Government only runs transmission now.

OKay, the government is useless...and yes, I agree with that sentiment. (I'm someone who thiks all NIgerian governments have failed since independence, so you won't get much argument from me)

And a big sign of government uselessness is price controls on the power sector. Tried many times in many countries, and failed every time.(The communist countries that used to do it all now run private power companies...with no government price controls!).

Defending the right of business to make a profit so that they can improve things, and even pay taxes (power companies are so broke that they need government subsides to stay afloat, and also cannot pay taxes)...is now defending thieves? Your thought process is weird.
So in summary what's your solution?

I get your point but that enough people aren't paying is largely due to the lack of creativity and sincerity of people in Govt.
Many big and powerful men evade tax. Just look at the ostensive and wasteful display of taxable wealth by celebrities.
If those ppl are taxed effectively it'll go a longer way than the little people like me pay as tax.
The govt just lacked the political will to increase tax revenue. Rather, their inventive way is asking the poor to pay more.
Why don't the government start with reducing the cost of governing,

It's funny how this government churn out trillions of naira and borrow millions of dollars with nothing to show for it for almost 8yrs now,

It's true we have wealthy people evading taxes, but who would want to pay tax to a government that you know would embezzle the money.

And how many people can actually afford tax in this country?

If you were in business selling provisions, would you sell all your provisions at N5 for a year, so that you can help the poor?

Things cost money, even power. ANd things don't care if you ar e earning less than N20000 a month...because things are made by people and people also have to be paid for making things for you, and the companies that make things also have to make enough of a profit to among other things raise salaries for the people who make things...people like you and me.
This is no private business,so you're saying Nigerians have to pay the money they don't have to have stable electricity?

Just say Nigerian government are useless, they've been borrowing for electricity projects for decades and it doesn't get any better but worse.

Stop defending these thieves

[quote author=backbencher post=108740682]Ghanaians pay twice as much as we do for power and don't have as much as 40% of the consumers defaulting either.

They pay in full, they get in full[/quote

They should create more megawatts then and put a reasonable price on it.

I wonder how much they'll want us to pay actually, when people are still earning below 20k per month

The reason why Nigeria does not have 24 hours power supply is simple

We aren't paying for 24 hour supply, we are.paying for less than that.

The reason is in the article. The goverment is paying a subsidy.

The reason why the goverment is paying a subsidy is because the discos ad gencos would collapse financially without it.

Especially since the law establishing them made them charge less than the production cost of power.

In 2019,discos were selling power at N20 to 30 naira per kWh. Meanwhile it cost 53 naira to make that one kwh of power.

Now it costs over N73 to make one kwh of power. Discos now charge between 49 to 71 naira per kWh. Most areas pay less than N60 .

You see?

Discos aren't allowed to charge the kind of tarrifs that would enable them make enough cash to pay for much needed improvements. Then there are the nearly 40% of customers, rich poor and even goverment agencies who use power for free.No paying. Nothing.

The law allowing for the privatisation of power did not allow the power companies the right to make a profit . Thus as a result, there isn't enough money to fix things

That is why we are.in.darkness.

Nigerians have to be ready to pay for 24 hour power. You cannot pay N3000 for a car costing 4 million naira. That is what we have been doing for the power sector

For more.on the situation, read the PWC paper "solving the liquidity crunch in the Nigerian power sector"

A page from the report is below. Worth reading.
Then it should get disconnected and know we don't have electricity in Nigeria,

You are making sound like we are suppose to pay more than a hundred thousand per month for steady electricity.

Ghanaians isn't paying a fortune for electricity and they are enjoying 24/7 power

It is not so much a summons because the summits alternate between Africa and Turkey

but the fact that Turkey believe they are too big to relate to individual African countries 1on 1 .
The US have done it , China have done it as have Russia so Erdogan's ego tells him why not Turkey
As this is an economic summit we should look at facts/figures
Turkey is a $700 billion GDP economy compared to Nigeria a $500 billion economy so there is nothing to gain from Turkey

I cannot think of any significant Turkish company that we are seeking to attract to Nigeria
Even the ones we've been doing with USA and co can be called useless cause,we cant point to a thing or two they have archived with it

The people claiming to be literates are the ones that can't actually comprehend what the ops point is,

All he's trying to say is,why would a nation summon the whole of Africa for a summit, just look at how Buhari has been flying around all in the name of summits, and Nigeria is on hell of fire

Now the question is, can a African country summon the whole of Europe for a summit?

Even if they do, I'm sure they'll just send delegates to represent them, that's why every country has an ambassador in every country

It can't be called an invite to me cause, why do they all have to go like Thier lifes depends on it

CODM tasking games is not because it is more graphically intensive. You have been throwing the term around now.

CODM has optimization issues and bugs. Last year CODM was causing phones to shut down and even bricked some phones. That was why I quickly uninstalled it.

PUBG on the other hand is very optimized to run on many phones despite it's graphical load. Attached is the size of PUBG on my device.

CODM needs serious fixing.
Is this rn8?
