mikron:
the Swiss team won that game (final) via a header from a corner, our defenders were caught napping, the Nigerian team led by okoro n Co dominated that game from beginning to end and maybe u forget that game was played in the evening (cold weather) not a hot weather like u want us to believe. European teams find it difficult playing football in the afternoon in hot temperate regions where there are much sunshine like North, East and West African countries. They get easily dehydrated and run out of steam thereby not giving their best. Oga extreme weather conditions affect players
Remember, a team can't just win a cup by winning only the final. The team must have won some matches to get there. And I'm sure they would have played some matches in harsh weather. I get your point alright, but my point is the weather shouldn't stop a GOOD team from performing. It's not enough excuse.

We should not forget that the weather in Christchurch also counted against us, I just heard it in brilafm that the temperature was 3 degrees. Very very cold, I believe only iheanacho, yahaya and nwakali are accustomed to such weather, could it be that the freezing conditions affected us greatly? because I believe the Germans were not better save for the lone goal. On football extreme weather conditions like this affect players coming from temperate regions like Africa. I believe in this team. I love the team as always. The land is green
Oga, forget weather! Didn't Switzerland come to our own hot weather to win the U-17 world Cup?

Smart coaches find a way to make the most talented players in their team perform when they are not doing so, and not cut them out completely. I'm not even sure this team would have beaten Serbia.
The player that made the most mistakes against Brazil didn't even lose his spot.

Wow! Tough luck for Hungary. That's emotionally the worst way to go out. Conceding an equalizer in injury time and then losing out to a goal in the last minute of extra time.

Ok... Enough of this. Every1 always has sumtin to say...
Sir Ajf... Thanks 4 d good wishes. It's true we dont knw u but it's also true u dont knw me or Sir Mikron.
U made a little faux pas classifying all 'bookworms' as 'black & white' perspective-only dudes. It's true I'm a bookworm BUT I'm 'kinda unique' and I'm not d only 1...*smiles- nothing more need be said on that*
EVER READ THE 48 LAWS OF POWER? U sound lyk sum1 who has... I GET UR POINT OK but I'm afraid u misunderstand me(likening me to a general who will choose a pyrrhic victory ova d lives of my lieutenants, corporals and privates..... Hahaha... U've made a big faux pas) ..... Ur suggestion to avoid a battle wit d germans CAN ONLY STAND IF NIGERIA IS A WEAK OR MERELY AVERAGE OPPONENT. Do u get it? BUT NIGERIA ISN'T WEAK, WE ARE STRONG AND FORMIDABLE... Or are we not?

P.S: When the Israelites led By Moses passed thru d wilderness on dia way to the promised land, GOD MADE THEM BATTLE KING SIHON AND KING OG ALONG THE WAY. Why didn't he avoid WAR SINCE ISRAEL JUST EMERGED 4M EGYPT AND WERE STILL LACKING IN WAR EXPERIENCE? WHY DIDNT GOD TURN 'STRATEGIC' HERE? Israel was even inferior on paper BUT THEY DIDNT CHICKEN OUT... They fought and won coz they knew who they were and that GOD WAS WITH THEM... There was a knowledge dey had dat their opponents didnt hv. Dat gave dem the confidence...

Anoda point:
It's just lyk saying, 'OK FALCONS, DONT PLAY THE SWEDES, THE AMERICANS OR THE AUSTRALIANS COZ THAT'S D GRP OF DEATH. Just withdraw ur participation and WE'LL AVOID THE BASHING OF OUR LIVES' *smiles*

Sir Ajf, We can go on and on wit this but pls dont be too quick to put all bookworms or nerds/geeks in one box. WHY? Coz some of us(esp. Me) JUST CANT BE BOXED... We are boxless thus we're 'surprisingly' Dynamic...
ADIOS POR SE AMIGO... *big smiles*

LeeCodeman:
From my research, Germany is actually a not-too-fantastic side. Here are the results of their last 10 matches

Honduras U20 Germany U20 1 : 5

Germany U20 Uzbekistan U20 3 : 0

Germany U20 Fiji U20 8 : 1

Italy U20 Germany U20 2 : 1

Germany U20 Poland U20 1 : 2

Poland U20 Germany U20 0 : 2

Germany U20 Switzerland U21 1 : 1

Netherlands U20 Germany U20 1 : 1

Germany U20 Turkey U20 1 : 0

Germany U20 England U20 0 : 1

Let me break this down:

Prior to the World Cup, they played 7 matches and only scored 8 goals. They played against fairly good teams and scored an average of a goal per match. They lost 3 times, drew 2 times, and won 2 times. In fact, they lost against teams that didnt qualify for the World Cup.

What does that tell you? I leave you to be the judge.

Oya boys, suya is ready... Lol

Thesupernerd I see you. I pray the God you so much believe in grant you your heart-wishes. I pray you excel in your field. When you are true with your studies at John Hopkins, I believe you can be the best doctor Nigeria and even the world as ever seen. But a war general like you will only lead his people into death. If you believe being strategic is cowardice grin cheesy. Bookworms. To them, everything should be black and white.
Mikron Mikron my brother. Damn anybody that has a different opinion eh? See, you don't know me. You don't know the kind of love I have for this team. That love is immeasurable. I have been following this team before their silver winning performance at the African U-17 youth championship. Family or stranger, I have argued with people who didn't believe in their talent. Convincing them with stats from their glowing performances. From nairaland to reddit, I have fought people who doubt their age. Shutting them up with pictures from their U-13 camp. You are free to say whatever makes you happy. It's your right. But please, don't call me plastic. I don't like that word. Your way might be a right way but it's certainly not the only right way. There are some coaches, like Wenger, who believe the game should played in a beautiful pattern of attacking football. There are some coaches, like Mourinho, who believe there should be a balance between attacking and defending play. To coaches like this, there are days to attack and there are days to defend. There is no single right way to play football.
If we all have the same opinion and the same philosophy, the world would be too boring to live in smiley

To all the 'true fans' here. Our next game is Germany. Nothing can change that so let's forget about all this. Let's talk about how to win the game. Those German boys must to chop am grin grin Gracias wink smiley

Lol. Some people feeling themselves here. Because you think the team cannot lose a game doesn't make you a better fan. Even teams like Barcelona loses games and our boys have lost one in this tourney already. As fans, we are all allowed our opinions. So, get off your high horses!
At the end of the day, the only thing that should matter is that we all want the progress of the team...

I had the bold part to contend with! Based on your point; is Argentina better than Brazil? Yes, because they won the South America Championship! But where are the Argies now? Out of the Competition pitifully!
If we could whitewash the German Clubs, the three Clubs respectively with mouthwatering scorelines who says we can't beat their national Team?
Time we tell dude! I know the Lads will prove you Guys wrong convincingly and credibly!!!
Mind you we need God in all our endeavors!!!

This is not about proving anybody wrong or right. I never said Nigeria cannot beat Germany. Heck! It's even stated boldly in the post you quoted that I believe Nigeria can defeat Germany. I just think it's smarter to avoid more difficult teams in the early knockout stage IF YOU CAN.

Now to the first part of your comment. Which U-20 national team do you think is the best in Africa? And why do you think they are the best?

Please, what exactly makes Germany a better opponent than Hungary? Are you looking at the scorelines?

If these guys had drew or won brazil, will you be talking like this? Have they conceded a goal since then?

See ehn,.bros, no dey yarn this kain gist. Do you think Germany can't lose to us as well? Abi na only Germany dey win matches ni? Just as there is a chance we'll lose, there's also a chance Germany too will lose. Na that chance we dey collect. Stop worrying about Germany, that's the job of the coach, your own job is to sit down and clap for your boys, hail.them, hype them.

Do your job dilligently and leave the rest to God and the coach

Are Germany better than Hungary? Yes! They are the European champions. That's the only way to measure right now.
Can Nigeria beat Germany? Yes! Read my post again and you will find out I said that so many times. Seems you don't understand my point.
And please, leave God out of this.

Just had a look at the fixtures. Nigeria vs Germany. If Nigeria wins, we meet an African team (Ghana or Mali) in the quarter finals.
This is sad because 3 strong African teams will be reduced to 1 in one fell swoop.

Nope. Winner of Germany vs Nigeria plays winner of Ukraine vs Senegal. Check again.

If you still don't believe in the Lads, I think you should do yourself favour and stop following them! The Lads ain't scared of facing the Germans, why some dudes are?! Take it or leave it, Manu Garba Boys will defeat the Germans!
Up Super Flying Eagles!!!

You see, I'm tired of this. You think matches are won by bravery? Because you think winning Germany is the only possible outcome for these boys on thursday doesn't mean you are a better fan. Why? It's because that is wrong. The better your opponent, the higher the probability of you losing no matter how good you are. Unless you are naive, you'll have to agree with me that that probability of this team beating Serbia is higher than them beating Germany. So, as a great fan of this team who wants them to win the cup and not just play bravely and crash out, I believe playing Germany in the semi-final or final is better than playing them in the round of 16. Everybody remembers the team that finishes 1st, 2nd or third, nobody remembers the team they beat to get there.
I know this team is very good. I believe they can beat Germany but I also know there is a possibility of them losing even if it's a small one. I love this team so much I don't want them to face such possibility this early in the knock-out stage. Heck! I may even love this team more than you do!

Guys Nigeria can still finish first if:

N/Korea beats Brazil by 1 goal or any margin and Nigeria beats Hungary by one goal or any Margin. If we finish 1st we face Uruguay.
Any which way, Germany, Serbia or Uruguay, no easy 2nd rnd for us.

Our boys just need to go out tomorrow and do the job regardless of who we are to play in d next rnd.

Playing Germany in the 2nd rnd puts us against winner of Ghana vs 3ACD in q/Final
Playing Serbia in 2nd rnd puts us against winner of USA VS Colombia in Q/Final
Playing Uruguay in 2nd rnd puts us against winner of Portugal vs 3ABF in Q/Final

So no merry ride any which ways

LOL I don't think N/K can beat Brazil though...
