Sports / Your Views: Clemence Westerhof And Nigerian Football by ajibey(m): 2:28pm On Jun 26, 2010
Algers '90 , Silver medal

Senegal '92, Bronze Medal

Tunsia '94, Gold Medal

WAFU cup Medals all through

First World cup appearance for Nigeria

Discovered so many Home based Players (Super Eagles 'B' Team) and made them compete with foreign players

So many training Tours to expose home based eagles without NFA's involvement

PAPENDAL Home of the eagles

Always welcomed at OTA farms camping ground for eagles (Low cost facility which graduated great players)

I still look up to the day a coach will be given such free hands IBB, Aikhomu and Abacha gave Clemence Westerhof to work when he was the Technical Adviser and general overseer of the Super Eagles.
A man with wisdom who employed Jo Bonfere to do the coaching, employed a good goal keeper trainer to take care of the the goalkeepers and Westerhof himself made sure the team was not distracted by facing NFA and the press himself and going straight to the presidency to avoid chop i chop NFA officials and making sure we achieved great football results.
He single handledly put Nigeria on the world stage of football for the first time and only the time in history an African team was placed 5th on FIFA rankings before the USA '94 world cup and and placed 9th after the World cup because we were eliminated in the round of 16.

I pray that day will come again when football will be brought back to the Arena of Football in Nigeria The National Stadium in Surulere where any team that comes to Nigeria knows they are coming to the slaughter house of the Super Eagles some of our victims them included

Nig Vs C'ote de Ivorie, 4-1
Nig Vs Algeria, 4 - 1
Nig Vs Ethiopia, 7 - 0
Nig Vs Sudan , 4-0
Nig Vs South Africa, 4 -0

These were the days as a Nigerian you know Rasheed Yekini will score 2 goals, Samson Siasia will perform, Dan the BULL Amokachi will destroy the defence, Finidi will give tailored passes, Uche Okechukwu the Rock at the heart of defence was there, Ben Iroha the dependable NO. 3 man was there Augustine Eguavoen was there, Sunday Oliseh ever accurate, Friday Ekpo, Thompson Oliha, Friday Elastic Elaho, Alloy Agu, Peter Rufai
the list is just endless and you can imagine 75% of these players started from local League in Nigeria and Westerhof was able to get them good clubs, monitor their performances and getting them to play for Nigeria from their clubs was no big problem.

Just a pity Younger Nigerians are no longer enjoying Good Football from super chickens as are fondly called by Nigerians now

Sani Lulu please get out of the NFF for people that can do the job with passion; we tired of my pocket alone people in Nigeria

@PROJECT
And where did you read all the jargons you wrote that some people are not good enough. We keep turning out leaders that can't talk in front of other world leaders.
The other day i watched Ojo Madueke your bicycle minister on BBC hardtalk and watching it alone was embarrassing because he was just talking off point and giving some nonsense answers

I want to encourage you to remain focused on your dream and the Lord will see you through
Education / Re: Hnd Not Equivalent To Degree by ajibey(m): 11:33pm On Jun 21, 2010
The issue of BSc & HND is a long standing one and our government is so confused they have toyed with the lives of so many young Nigerians. I'm currently in the UK studying on a Msc straight with my HND. The school allowed me after looking at the credit load from ND to HND which is just same with BSc courses. i did NARIC comparism(standard for comparing UK certificates with rest of the world) and result shows it is higher than HND in UK, cannot be directed compared to mean the same as BTEC but is not Bsc because its diploma.
When i looked at the comparism closely, it meant the work load in all the transcript i submitted from my first year in ND to my final year in HND shows all the courses i took while in school is higher than HND and BTEC in UK but cannot be called BSc because the result reads Higher National Diploma (HND).
I worked in some of Nigeria's best companies with my HND before coming for my Msc in UK and i made head way that was why i was able to come to UK on self sponsor for my Msc so i encourage all others with HND to show the stuff they made of and forget about HND or BSc but at the same time try and improve on your HND with better qualifications and certification in your field
I challenge the man blowing that jargon to line his BSc Soldiers against HND Army and see the stuff HND grads are made off

Travel / General U.S Visa Enquiries by ajibey(m): 3:05pm On Jul 07, 2008
I applied for US visa sometime in 2002 but was rejected and my passport stamped; at that time i used an agent because i was a little young; though i was just over 22yrs then and the agent filled in the form that i was married because he made me understand that is the only condition with which US grants visaa then while i was not but all other information was correct.
I got another passport when that one expired and have since gone to UK after that. Now i'm married and want to apply for a US visa with my wife during our vacation; i'm confused on whether to maintain i've applied for the US visa before or to just simply say i'm appliying for the first time because i currently work with a multinational company and i'm sure i would have recieved the visa easily if i had not applied before.
Anybody in the house with such related situation or anyone with any clue on how they keep records concerning the US embassy bucause i know that of UK is much more accurate.
Advice needed

@eminemkayc
COME, MAKE THEM NO TRY AM OH!! WHICH KIN NONSENSE BE THAT? SEE, AM A CIVIL ENGINEER AND BY GOD'S GRACE PRIVILEGED TO GRADUATE WITH A FIRST CLASS FROM ONE OF NAIJA'S FORMOST INSTITUTIONS. SO LET ME EDUCATE WHO EVER WANTS TO LISTEN A BIT,  A TECHNOLOGIST IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM AN ENGINEER (in this context), WHILE DURING THE LATTER'S TRAINING IN THE INSTITUTION, HE ACQUIRES 70 - 75% ENGINEERING DESIGN AND OTHER GERMANE KNOWLEDGE  WHILE THE REMAINDER IS LEFT FOR PRACTICAL PURPOSES. AS A COMPLEMENT TO THIS, DURING HIS TRAINING, A MAXIMUM OF 6MONTHS IS LEFT OUT FOR HIS INDUSTRIAL EXPIERIENCE PROGRAM WHILE THE TECHNOLOGIST DOES THE SAME FOR ONE YEAR. IN THE REAL SENSE OF IT, IN THE EVENT  OF A PROBLEM, AN ENGINEER IS EXPECTED TO CARRY OUT THE CONCEPTUAL DESIGN BECAUSE OF HIS TRAINING BUT A TECHNOLOGIST CANNOT DO THE SAME SINCE HE IS NOT TRAINED TO DO SO. YEAH, HE MIGHT CLAIM HE'S GOT THE KNOWLEDGE, BLA BLA BLA, BUT THATS FALSE. AM SAYING THIS FROM EXPIERIENCE COS I WORK IN THE OIL INDUSTRY AS A DESIGN ENGINEER AND FOR GOODNESS SAKE IT WOULD CREATE CONFUSION IN THE PROFESSIONAL WORLD AND ONLY RIDICULE THE TWO DEGREES AS CHARLATANS WOULD BE ON THE PRAWL CLAIMING TO BE WHAT THEY ARE NOT WHICH IN TURN WOULD RESULT TO A NEW TYPE OF CORRUPTION ,  GOD HELP NAIJA

I'm very suprised at what you wrote; read the publication very well  http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=115056  it is in there that the curriculum will change; if you are very confident of your civil engineering certificate while not enter the same hot sit with someone awarded the BTech; if you win so be it or are you scared of losing your Lucrative oil job to a better Btech candidate

If this new proposal finally sails through, what now happens to those already with the HND certificate. Please contribute

Hi All
I'm so glad i came across this thread on nairaland; its very interesting the things i've read so far concerning FTA stations but unfortunately i use DSTV and the new DSD 1110 decoder for that matter and so i can't enjoy some of the free stuffs you guys enjoy
I read in one of the post that it is possible to watch FTA stations on DSTV decoders,  Please is this true? And if it is not possible which decoder can i get for me to watch the DSTV stations and still enjoy FTA using my DSTV smartcard
I also read it is possible to watch premeirship matches live FOC (free of charge) from one of the satellite! is it still possible. somebody should please revert back to me

Someone please attend to this??
