Emperror Jona fiddles while Nigeria burns. |
When did the state PDP chairman become a court of law that can cancel an election or the constituents which can recall a house member? This story to me is an absolute hogwash. |
stephenponti: You must be a minor/juvenile who's still been fed pap. Do your mum know u visit nairaland? When u grow older if at all u live in Nig u ll understand. You are absolutely correct.I was almost tempted into responding to his ignorant post but i had a second thought and decided that ignoring him was the better option. Please let him wallow in his ignorance. |
I opened a thread early this morning where i complained about phcn's outrageous bills & the deplorable state of power supply.I dont believe in violence but am surprised that i am actually okay with the actions of the oppressed against their oppressors. Those who believe that revolution is impossible in Nigeria should take note. |
ochukoccna: @ akaOpene, don't you know there's a law against rumour mongeringMy brother the whole thing is sickening. It does not allow one to plan the use of the resources available to him or her.You cannot buy food stuff in bulk and store in the refrigerator for future use.One cannot also cook a substantial quantity of food that can take care of the family during the weekdays and keep in the freezer. These so called leaders are simply heartless. |
Why do we keep hearing of the generation of more mega watts of electricity without any visible improvement in the supply of public power to Nigerians? Here in the commercial city of Onitsha, the situation is going from bad to worse and i am beginning to believe that it is a deliberate act. This is because there is always a marked improvement in power supply at the beginning of every month when PHCN must have concocted and distributed their outrageous bills but this is reversed after a greater percentage of the populace have paid these bills. What magic wand did Bart Nnaji; the former minister of power have that made him record tremendous success within a short while as power minister? Why is it that the present minister does not seem to have any solution as Nnaji did? I want those who believe that the vote of the average South Easterner is guaranteed for anyone no matter his or her performance to know that they are dreamers. The present government has employed so much propaganda with respect to the availability of public power supply that it has now become a joke. There was no light all through the weekend;we could not even watch our golden eaglets play on Saturday, all through Sunday and also this Monday morning.Same thing at the office which means that between Saturday and the time i get to my office,i would have spent 4,500naira for fueling my electricity generating sets both at home and in the office. What have we done to be cursed a series of leadership that are only adept at deceiving their followers? But let them beware;Nigerians are becoming more aware and i know that those that think that they can deceive us all the time have a surprise awaiting them. |
Reference: No sir, its not a pity, it is the reality. What is a pity is that folks like you are completely out of touch with the reality of all that has held this entity together called Nigeria. That's a conjecture my friend and not a reality.By the way,was it not Yaradua that initiated the amnesty programme?Saying its a pity was my mistake; it rather a double pity that a government official had to display such stupidity in an international forum. |
So jonathan wants to get a 2nd tenure via blackmail & threats rather than his first term achievements and some people here are ok with it.What a pity. |

Akande's response to Okukpe is so appropriate. It is quite obvious that the guy is a troubled soul. |
Not too long ago,i had cause to express my disappointment with the quality of etisalat's internet connection. I am glad to say that the quality of their internet connection has been admirable for some time with respect to my current location which is Onitsha.I believe we should criticize when there is need for criticism and also give commendation and praises when it is earned. I hereby give kudos to etisalat and also advise them to make the cost their data bundle subscription more affordable to enable more Nigerians to enjoy their improved internet services. |
All these technical jargons cannot fool us when we just got an outrageous sum as this month's bill, when we have spent almost a week without electricity. This is a government of scammers. |
This is the 6th day of darkness in Onitsha & all the cooked & raw food in my fridge ve all gone to waste. What a government? |
taharqa: @OP, why are you bothering yourself about an organisation (PHCN) that is just about to be Buried soonest and overtaken by a Bunch of more serious Private Hands?? What do you want to do with the Customer Help Line of such an organisation. PATIENCE for just a few weeks, dear. |
I dont need AIT to tell me what the Jonathan led government is doing when we have not had light for days now. This government is simply a failure. |
Your post depicts the patetic condition of things in Nigeria. We are being treated like trash by our government & it is time we put a stop to this slavery. |
I was filled with sympathy for residents of the four western states of Lagos,Ogun,Ondo & Osun when PHCN announced that these states will experience 72hrs of power outage. All the same,i was consoled by the fact that they were told in advance which will enable them make some moves in advance to alleviate the sufferings the 3day of darkness will cause. I am therefore surprised that the residents of Onitsha and other cities in Anambra are experiencing the same dark weekend without any prior notification from PHCN. I want those in the four states who are currently in darkness to know that they are not alone.Yours is even better since you were given advance notice. Though we differ in tribe & tongue, this darkness occasioned by our government's ineptitude & corruption makes us one.I cant just wait for 2015 to come so that those of us that desire the light will vote against these 'promise & fail' agents of darkness. |
If we are to believe the Op that some of the bokoharam members are to be sponsored abroad for training, what are they gonna be trained in since western education is sin to them?Pack and bundle of hypocrites and lost souls. |
driand: mtn agents, scumbags....Bleep uI have not used MTN and i do not intend to do that anytime soon.I believe we owe it to our generation to point out these shortcomings when they become persistent. That i think is the only way we can bring out the best in these co-operate bodies and establishments.I expect you to suggest another way this can be achieved rather than throwing tantrums and blind punches that will only end up landing on your chin. |
Godmother: My dear, they are all like that. Every network provider in Nigeria has one ish or the other. I remember I couldn't browse last month for one full week on my airtel blackberry. Called their customer care several times and they told me everything was fine. I became pissed and switched to MTN and it still gives me the same issues sometimes.Your post sounded so calming and reasonable. You are a real god-mother. |
Trut: Bros Opene, Etisalat still remain the BEST internet providers in Naija. I think the recent network outage on Etisalat is because of the MASSIVE ATTACK on the INTERNET which affect network globally. Read http://edition.cnn.com/2013/03/27/tech/massive-internet-attack/index.htmlNwanne,thank you so much for the enlightenment,it meant a lot to me.How i wish these service providers can keep us informed of occurances that affect us,we would be in a position to understand and sympathize with them when circumstances beyond their control hinder their operation. But i scouted their sites and even tried to email them to no avail, which necessitated my coming to my favorite forum to seek answers. That has been accomplished, all thanks to you.I guess we have to be patient with them for the time being. I am not from Iyi-owa Odekpe, rather i am from Onitsha.Thank you once again and do have a great day. |
I am grateful for all your contributions and advice.I appreciate you all. |
So Ashamed Of Etisalat? Hello Nairalanders, Is it only me or are there others who witness the regular disruptions in internet connection which etisalat regularly dishes out to its data bundle subscribing customers as they have been doing for a couple of days now? Is it that this only occurs whenever i subscribe to their data bundle plan or what? I ask because it was on this forum that i heard that etisalat internet connection for laptop users in reliable which made me opt for it.Unfortunately i have always had one unpleasantness or the other whenever i use my hard earned money to buy their data bundle;with the worst being the service disruption currently being experienced in their internet connections. The internet service comes on at intervals of about 20seconds only for it to disconnect. My current location is New Market road, Onitsha. I have had no network coverage to even call their customer care unit.I even tried to make my inquiry through their supposed email which was posted on their site (care@etisalat.com.ng)but the email is not working. What have we Nigerians done to be treated in such shabby manners by our leaders and foreign and local businesses? I call on NCC and the supervising ministry to please save Nigerians from all these frustrations. Finally can someone please tell me another network whose internet connection is reliable in and around the commercial city of Onitsha so that i can throw away this etisalat high BP inducer which i am currently burdened with. ![]() |
What is wrong with etisalat's internet connection?I cant browse on my laptop after buying 2k worth of their bundle plan. The last time they had this problem,i called their customer care unit only to get tossed from one staff to the other before i was rudely cut off the line.I decided to come & bare my mind to nairalanders to know if anybody knows what the problem is since their customer care dept. isnt doing its job. |
Shrek:featuring shan george. |
I love the president's sense of good judgement which made him to marry the smartest, prettiest and most intelligent of all the women in Nigeria. ![]() |
I just watched d video,she featured Tonto Dike in d album;-( |
I am in onitsha and i confirm that the OP is correct. Some group of young men are beating up the hausas and destroying their goods. There's rumour that some were killed around fegge in Onitsha south though i cannot confirm if its true. This is the result of an irresponsible leadership cos this should ve been anticipated by the law enforcement agencies after yesterday's Kano blast.Nigeria has really gone to the dogs. |
The PR team of the Gates foundation were just being diplomatic. That was a diplomatic way of saying that the trip was actually canceled.I am surprised that Abati who has perfected the act of peddling falsehood can not detect when he himself is being taken for a ride.Sorry Reuben, but why are you doing everything within your power to prove Fani Kayode right?? ![]() |
U ar very correct. The abysmal failure of PDP in the provision of power supply is enough reason to seek for another alternative in 2015.PDP is finished. |
It has been revealed that the life expectancy of the average Nigerian is below fifty years. The low life expectancy i believe is tracable to the deplorable state of our health institutions, general insecurity, high illitracy level, poverty, the poor state of infrastructure etc. In as much as the above factors contribute a great deal to the misery and frustrations of Nigerians and also the fact that their effects can be seen in our every day living,i wish to dwell on power which is an aspect that affects our everyday living a great deal. Public power supply falls under poor infrastructure and although a lot has been written and said about it.I still believe that we should not get tired of expressing our feelings on the way we are being shortchanged with respect to the provision of this vital service. The internet has given us easier and somehow affordable means of gaining access to and also disseminating information and in as much as i believe that a lot has been written and said about this,i still believe that the Nigerian youths are still not making maximum use of the social media to challenge those that are responsible for the provision of power supply to provide the service that is commensurate with the bill the average Nigerian (especially those without the prepaid meter) pays to PHCN at the end of every month. We are all experiencing the present heat wave and it is very unfortunate that public power supply has been erratic at this time that Nigerians need power the most. Do the people at the helm of affairs really feel the pains of the average Nigerian? How can one have a good night rest in this heat in the absence of electricity to at least power an electric fan.How also does one deal with the mosquitoes except one is ready to suffocate under a mosquito net?Or do we talk about the effects of carbon monoxide emitted from power generators? How can a Nigerian be healthy and productive in an environment such as ours. The Nigerian youth will either win this battle against PHCN or (God forbid) a great percentage of us will not live to see our grand children. We can effect a change in Power supply in Nigeria.Post a topic on the current situation power supply in your residence or work place especially at this period of extreme high temperatures. |
Don't you know that Nigerians are now wiser?Who are you trying to hoodwick with the rubbish you posted above in the name of being an insider/An insider who could not tell those ex presidents that attended and those that did not attend. I pity people like the OP because they are the reason why their children will suffer the same way they are suffering because they have bargained Nigeria and their children's future away. |
