Mckandre:Unlimited internet...I use torrents first, then oceanofgames.com if I don't find a torrent. |
Mckandre:Noted, I will try these out. Currently downloading about 25 games to try so it'll be after I try those. Hopefully more than 50% work..I've had issues with some games being duds. |
With the release of support for Vulkan, a low level API for DOOM 2016, I'll be deviating from just getting 60FPS but comparing the performance between using OpenGL and Vulkan on the AMD 290X. Game currently being downloaded from Steam so will update soon. |
KazukiIto:What resolution/image quality settings do you use? I'll be testing this title soon so it'll be good for comparison purposes. |
armylord:I hear that...Intel HD graphics has never been sold as good for graphic intesive loads so I'm choosing my titles carefully to show which ones can run and are 'playable'. |
Lana1:Spoke to a mate and he suggested Power Data Recovery or Paragon backup & Recovery, if you haven't already sorted it. He advised installing on another drive.. goodluck pal |
Title: Red Faction: Armagedon Resolution: 800x600, Low settings Genre: Action Comments: Right from the beginning, average framerate was 9FPS, input lag was unbearable.
|
Title: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Resolution: 640x480, Low settings Genre: Action Comments: This title worked and was playable for the most parts. In closed-off areas/inside building the average framerate was 49FPS, very smooth. Framerate however took a dive to an average of 24FPS during gun battles/open area, which was still playable. Stutter is noticeable but not frustrating to quit game. Link - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5gP1lXvmMe5QVQxanJoREcxbG8
|
Title: Devil May Cry 5 Resolution: 640x480, Low settings Genre: Action, Adventure Comments: Right this one surprised me. Here's a 2013 title that actually played well albeit in windowed mode @ 640x480, low settings. The iGPU was able to keep an average framerate 23FPS...biggest dips when new scene is loaded. Not by any means the best experience but still playable. This is still one of my favorite 'hack 'n' slash' title. Link - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5gP1lXvmMe5QVQxanJoREcxbG8
|
Title: Dead Space 3 Resolution: 1024x768, Low settings Genre: Action, Adventure Comments: This title is not playable at an average framerate of 12FPS. An interesting shooter game I will try on my main rig.
|
Lana1:I've never used one bruv. |
Title: Gears of War Resolution: 600x450, Low settings Genre: Action shooter Comments: This took me way back when I had the Xbox 360..it was an all time favorite. Although the average framerate recorded was 24FPS, the stutters made it unplayable. If you've got a beefier iGPU+CPU clocks. This game is a MUST! ![]() Cc Oluwaseunsodiq, thanks for pointing this one out. There's no GoW 2/3 for PC Test Link - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5gP1lXvmMe5QVQxanJoREcxbG8

adibo:Try changing the install location of the game...in my case my external drive is 'E:'. Changed from 'C:'
|
BRAINZBox:This is very true, it's not just the game setting but the system itself. Many users have so many processes running in the background eating up system resources and they complain it's too slow. |
Oluwaseunsodiq:I'd like to but seeing as I'm barely getting playable framerate (25FPS +) at the lowest setting possible, there's isn't any need to increase the image quality tbh. Any post 2010 game you'd like to see tested? |
Title: Dragon Age: Origins Resolution: 800x600, Low settings Genre: RPG Comments: Average framerate 23FPS. I was able to get this running with Texture Detail as high, although it didn't do much and suffered a 7-8% drop in framerate. This was playable being an RPG.and cutscenes made it ok to deal with little stutters.
|
Title: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Resolution: 640x480, Low settings Genre: Action Shooter Comments: Average framerate 29FPS...this was actually fun to play. At 29FPS, gameplay experience was very good. If you aren't bothered by the windowed mode, then get this title. I'll be keeping this game on my laptop, on-the-go gaming with a controller ![]() Test link - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5gP1lXvmMe5QVQxanJoREcxbG8
|
Title: Rage Resolution: 640x480, no AA Genre: Action Comments: Average framerate 15FPS, not playable even at the lowest screen resolution. This is a game I'll enjoy with playable framerates.
|
Title: Warhammer: Dawn of War-Soulstorm Genre: Real Time Strategy Comments: 1368x768 with highest settings available, average framerate 50FPS. This was very playable and the gameplay experience was very good at 50FPS. I could have tried higher resolution but I'd stick to my monitor native. test link - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5gP1lXvmMe5czJ3OWJicUtQb3M

Right! I've had to make some adjustments for these test. This isn't a test of the Asus X202E rather the Intel HD Graphics and I've stumbled across a problem. The high temperature during testing causes the CPU clock speed to drop by 40%, from 1.4Ghz to 0.8Ghz which is not good at all. New plan is to butcher the laptop, point a fan at CPU cooler and connect it to my monitor. If I can keep the processor cool and below 85C it won't throttle. At idling, I've already seen the temps drop from 60C to 46C edit max temps now is 70C which means my CPU clocks remain at 1.4Ghz at all times ![]()

cupidhero:4th gen iGPU will be much better than the suicidal mission I'm putting mine through. I neva start and loading times are already getting on my nerves |
RX480:Thanks, corrected now |
Oluwaseunsodiq:you mean Ultra LOW abi? ![]() |
khalhokage:The external drive is connected to a USB3.0 controller so it will be much faster than using USB2.0... I won't have done it with USB2.0. |
viickerz:It depends on your laptop...on power on, press either the 'del' or 'esc' key. it'll depend on your laptop tho. |
Lana1:As in er! This build was sponsored by Thermaltake so the builder only needed to put in his time....lots of it. You'll find it on TPU in the case mod gallery. |
Seeing a lot of NL gamers have laptops with Intel HD graphics and with the a few questions about what games to play, I decided to put my laptop through hell: 40 titles over the next few days/weeks will be tested...let's see how much torture it can survive. I've chosen titles from 2009/2010 as the processor was manufactured Q3'12, titles in that year and later would most probably not work or perform poorly. All unnecessary startup programs have been disabled, and background running processes have been minimized as much as possible to have system running in it's optimum state. vRAM configuration in BIOS increased to 512MB. FRAPS is used to monitor framerate, gpuz to monitor temperature, clock speeds etc. Ok, to the system specs Model: Asus X202E CPU : intel i3-2365M, 2C/4T clocked at 1.4Ghz iGPU: Intel HD Graphics- Base frequency 300Mhz, Boost 1GHz. Memory 667Mhz RAM : 4GB 1333Mhz Storage: 256GB SSD + 2TB HDD for games A faster Dual Core with Hyperthreading or a quad core processor 2.0Ghz+ should perform better.

Compared to this....nowt!
|
adibo:Antivirus was active (you could try diactivating it). I didn't use idm , as my connection is pretty stable so less chance of dropping. My PES 2016 ISO file is 5.07GB though. |
purplekayc:What GPU you rocking bro? |
adibo:Yea, yesterday ![]() |
