kimco:Can't wait to see what the XBox Scorpio with 6tflops of compute power can deliver when it gets released next year. |
So my liquid-cooled reference R9 290X Top 10 MVP on wccftech - SINGLE GPU ![]()
|
erekking:How did you resolve it? it may help someone else having the same issue. |
kimco:AFAIK, any game with a target 60fps that runs mid 40's has a game engine issue ie the developers haven't optimised the game. For instance Quantum Break had that issue on the PS4&XBox one. The developers then set the option to cap it at 30fps or leave it variable, a settings available in the options menu. As for graphics selling better than frames, you'll have to hear what gamers on CS:Go think about that. Competitive players lower their screen resolutions to hit higher frame rates as that reduces input lag. It think it's a case of everyone has a sweet spot, I like to get both ![]() |
chachanga:Na to buy fire extinguisher just in case lol. Anyway, motherboard and CPUs usually have an operating limit so knowing what the maximum operating temperature allowed for the CPU will be a bonus. Intel info can be found at http://ark.intel.com/m/ Search for your processor to show limit. |
ShokiScientist:most welcome sir! |
erekking:What antivirus software do you have? Have any files belonging to AC3 been quarantined by your antivirus software? |
Here's a short tutorial how to boost your CPU performance without overclocking. Note: 1. I've used synthetic benchmarks so real-world situations may not have the same scaling. 2. My CPU is an Intel CPU with hyperthreading(HT), this may not work for AMD CPU and/or Intel CPU's without HT 3. I noticed a jump in idling and load temperatures so have adequate cooling in place as doing this may cause your CPU to thermal throttle resulting in a decrease in performance. 4. For my CPU, whilst the single core performance didn't see a a significant improvement, multi-core performance did. 5. Follow the steps and you shouldn't have any issue, deviate and you might end up with a non-working OS. kimco:Minimum console runs at 30FPS, some run at 60fps like Doom. Much better overall than my laptop ![]() |
ShokiScientist:The intel i3 paired with the Geforce 920M will offer slightly better gaming performance plus you have the added bonus of a higher resolution screen @ 1920x1080 with the Asus laptop for everyday tasks. |
The first episode of the excellent Life is Strange is free from tomorrow, 21st July on all of its platforms: Mac, PC, PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. |
KazukiIto:Haba! You already have 80% faster CPU clock speeds. Did you get to sort out your VRAM? |
KazukiIto:The ability to run smoothly with vary due to system specs/configs. What's your laptop model/specs |
Title: Prince of Persia:The Two thrones Resolution: 1024x768 Genre: Adventure Comments: Not being able to play in windowed mode made this image very pixelated an gameplay wasn't nice though maintaining a high framerate.
|
Title: Battle: Los Angeles Resolution: 800x600 Genre: Shooter Comments: Not playable with an average of 13FPS. Also unable to play in windowed mode so with an ultrawide monitor image seriously pixelated. Half way through this marathon, 20 more titles to go. Suggestions welcome. What you you guys like to see tested? Intel HD Link - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5gP1lXvmMe5QVQxanJoREcxbG8 Just a recap, any titles below 20FPS is rated as unplayable on this Intel HD iGPU system running a dual core i3-2365M clocked at 1.4Ghz
|
Title: Far Cry 2 Resolution: 720x480 Genre: Action, Adventure Comments: Unplayable with an average framerate of 19FPS. Game was launched in Directx9 to allow using the lowest setting but still remained unplayable. Intel HD Link - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5gP1lXvmMe5QVQxanJoREcxbG8

Mckandre:Quantify and share these noticeable results if you have time but na iGPU clocked 1Ghz boost clock and a 1.4Ghz dual core CPU we they talk about here sha...nothing to write home about. I won't get hung up in trying to get 2-3more fps on a game that runs at 10fps...that 40% gains is incredible. |
Mckandre:I think it'll be a futile exercise tbh, all these programs do reduce the amount of system memory being used, I've got 4GB which doesn't get maxed out and my virtual memory(pagefiles) runs of an SSD which is very fast. It won't benefit me in anyway. The most it saved on my system was 0.3GB RAM lol. |
Mckandre:I installed and tried gamebooster on 3 titles and it had a positive effect on the minimum framerate but negative on the average framerate which was almost consistent across the games I tried. I played the same scenes and captured the data over 5mins of game play each. Based on this, I'm Revo'ing razerbooster . I think it'll work best for PC users who just have sh1t loads of processes running in the background with tons of startup items. My PC runs with the bare minimum on startup and I think that's why it has a negative impact on my system.

purplekayc:I read that bro. I meant any game capture software (shadowplay AFAIK has the least impact) will reduce your framerate by 5-15FPS. But FRAPS can just log the framerate and output an excel file for comparison it doesn't need to record as well. This will you get the max framerate allowable by your GPU.Set a hotkey, check the boxes you want and whether you manually stop the process or automatically by setting a time limit. See video link(not a data intensive video) - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5gP1lXvmMe5ZEpRR2ZWWDByNFk Output will look like the photo, usually in C:/FRAPS/Benchmarks
|
purplekayc:AH! One thing you mentioned was that your record with MSI, recording gameplay will have a huge impact on your framerate, around 10-15FPS lower. I used fraps to log the framerates. |
purplekayc:For an AMD 290/290X, it will. You CPU will also have an impact on the overall framerate. Mines paired with an i7 processor. |
purplekayc:Ok. If you in the UK, I can send it to you. |
Mckandre:I did bruv, I said I wasn't based in Nigeria. Most of the games are run on low settings though which disables AA,PP etc. Thanks for the tip, I'll try gamebooster and do some more comparison to see it's effects. I test them on those where I'm getting playable framerates first though and see is it boosts ![]() |
KazukiIto:If that doesn't work then it might be a case of creating a bootable USB to flash it, potentially. |
purplekayc:You mentioned you have a Havendale/Clarkdale mobo which CPU have you? I think I have an i7-870 laying somewhere in storage. Where do you live? |
purplekayc:Using the same version?
|
purplekayc:Click on the tick beside 'framerate' to activate it then 'show in on-screen display' at the bottom. The video link I shared with you shows the steps. |
Lana1:You sir, certainly correct with that. Shadowplay is definitely one on NV strengths. |
