Hello intellectual Nigerians, before I ran into the hand of PHCN, kindly advise me if I have to pay bills while my metre is under processing. I have applied for electric metre in October, since the PHCN have been demanding me to pay N2000 Monthly contrary to government instruction that no metre, no pay. Should I pay. |

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said Saturday’s judgement of the Taraba State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal is the clearest indication yet that the PDP has started harvesting what it sowed in its years of impunity and recklessness, hence it should blame itself for whatever tragedy has now befallen it. In a statement issued in Lagos on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the PDP has always been a party of anything goes, hence it is a matter of time for the party to come to grief, first by tumbling from the pinnacle of power and now by losing, incrementally, whatever remains of its crumbled empire. It said the PDP was only trifling by attributing the judgement to a supposed manipulation from the Presidency. ”President Muhammadu Buhari as well as his party, the APC, are strong believers in the rule of law, as against the rule of impunity, hence will never manipulate the judiciary for whatever reason. ”The PDP is clearly aware of this, but has chosen to blame everyone but itself for the fate that has befallen it. The PDP should have known that it will pay for its years of impunity and recklessness. For this party, the chicken has now come home to roost,” APC said. The party said if the PDP is not blaming the judiciary, its favourite whipping boy, it is blaming the APC, the Presidency or even Nigerians for its plight, warning it to stop shifting responsibility. ”PDP should leave the judiciary, the Presidency and the APC alone and accept responsibility for its actions. From the judgement of the Tribunal, it is clear that the impunity of the PDP cost it the election. Not only did the party breach Section 78 (b) (1) (2) of the Electoral Act concerning the organization of party primaries, it was not even deemed to have participated in the April 11th 2015 governorship election in Taraba State in the eyes of the law. ”Apart from not complying with the Electoral Act, the election of the PDP candidate, Mr. Darius Ishaku, in the purported primaries in Abuja was done after the stipulated time for party primaries had elapsed, according to the Tribunal. It is thus clear that the election result in Taraba was not annulled for any other reason but the impunity and recklessness that permeated the life and times of the cadaverous PDP. ”It is noteworthy that this is not the first time the court is ruling against PDP’s impunity of violating its own constitutional provisions and the Electoral Aact with regards to ensuring internal democracy in the conduct of primary elections. ”The first landmark judgment came from the Supreme Court when it ruled against PDP’s impunity in 2007 and ordered that Rotimi Amaechi be installed as Governor of Rivers instead of Celestine Omehia who was illegally imposed. Secondly, the Supreme Court had also ruled against PDP in the case of Ifeanyi Ararume when the party took his mandate as validly elected Governorship candidate and handed it over to another aspirant. ”It is instructive to note that these judgments took place while the PDP was in control of the Presidency. The opposition parties then never questioned the integrity of the judiciary by making wild and weighty allegations as the PDP is doing now,” it said. The APC also said that the PDP should blame itself for its gross impunity with regards to the conduct of primary elections for Taraba State. For instance, if all political parties, including the APC which was then in opposition, could hold their primaries in the state, why would the PDP that was in control of the State Government come down to Abuja for its primaries against the provisions of the Electoral Act and the PDP constitution? ”The impunity was not only in the case of Taraba State because the PDP also moved its Governorship primaries for Borno and Adamawa States to Abuja in breach of the Electoral Act. The irony was that whereas the PDP claimed the primaries where shifted to Abuja because the capitals of Taraba, Borno and Adamawa States where not safe for primary elections, the PDP held Presidential campaigns in the same capitals of the affected states (Jalingo, Taraba State, Maiduguri, Borno State and Yola, Adamawa State). ”Now that the PDP’s chicken has come home to roost, the party must be courageous enough to accept full responsibility and stop seeing enemies everywhere. The PDP is its own enemy,” the party said. |
Boko Haram Poisoning Water Sources In Borno Villages Bayo Oladeji — Oct 1, 2015 4:41 am | Leave a comment The Nigerian Army yesterday raised the alarm that Boko Haram terrorists have now resorted to poisoning water sources like wells and streams in areas they were dislodged by gallant troops or areas threatened by offensive operations. The latest being the poisoning of the cattle water ponds in Kangallam village along Marte and Abadam axis in Borno State where a large number of cattle died after drinking water from the ponds. Credible information available to the Theatre Command indicates that though no human life was lost as a result of the barbaric act of the terrorists, some cattle were killed after drinking water from some poisoned sources. In a statement signed by Col. Tukur Gusau, the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, “The action of the terrorists is no doubt aimed at taking their own pound of flesh on the innocent citizens and livestock as a result of the unbearable offensive operations through the combined effort of the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air Force to root them out completely from their enclaves and hide-outs all over the North East”. The army then urged citizens in the affected areas “to avoid as much as possible drinking water from unverified sources. Troops Ambush Fleeing Terrorists Meanwhile, troops of Operation Lafiya Dole have ambushed and killed 2 fleeing terrorists as well as captured several weapons and supplies on Tuesday. The troops, who laid the ambush at the Boko Haram crossing point into Sambisa Forest at Iza, engaged the terrorists who succumbed to the superior firepower of troops and fled. The acting Director of Army Pubic Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, disclosed this in a statement. Source, leadership newspaper. |

I’m ashamed that I let a price be put on my word and I cannot die without letting the world know.” He claims Suge Knight, who is currently in jail awaiting trial for murder, played a big part in helping it happen. - 0 Comments SEOUL, South Korea -- Some North Koreans have been able to escape from the Communist country and its strict human rights violations. Kim Eun Jin is one of those survivors. The 31-year-old was born in Pyongyang, North Korea. Kim's testimony is rare considering the numbers on North Korea. America's Central Intelligence Agency estimates that some 24 million people live in North Korea. The best estimate is about 2 percent or 480,000 of them are Christians. "Growing up I was told by the authorities that there was no God in this world," Kim recalled. "We were ordered instead to worship Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, the leaders of the country." Freedom of religion is guaranteed under North Korea's constitution, but it's never encouraged. "We met every Saturday evening," Kim said, explaining what it was like being a believer in North Korea. "My family gathered in the back room of our small apartment," she continued. "We had to be very quiet. We whispered when we prayed, sang songs or read the Bible. We often covered our heads to muffle the noise." A Secret Revealed Growing up, Kim said she heard stories of how her native city Pyongyang was once known as the "Jerusalem of the East." In 1945, 13 percent of the population was Christian. The city was the center of Christianity on the Korean Peninsula. Half a century later, Kim's faith made her a target. "My parents often asked me to stay outside the apartment on Saturdays to make sure no one was coming while the family prayed inside. We couldn't allow anyone to know what was going on," she told CBN News. Over time, the meetings grew to include a few friends and extended family. "We had one Bible in the house. My grandmother, who was a believer from the Japanese Imperial times, had a Chinese Bible. She translated the Bible by hand into the Korean language on pieces of paper. That's how we read the Bible. We found strength in those pages," Him said. But soon the authorities discovered that her father was a secret believer. "My father was a tailor in town and the police suspected something was going on," she recalled. "We believe they planted listening devices in his shop and on his clothes." In 1994, police discovered that Kim's father was operating a secret underground church. They raided the house, arrested him along with an uncle, and both men likely ended up in one of the six labor camps dotting North Korea. "The day my father was arrested I was at school, but I'll never forget that day. He hugged me before I left for school and like every other day he reminded me to be careful," Kim said. "Every morning at the breakfast table he would tell us that one day the government will come and arrest us for being Christians. He warned us of the price we would some day pay for our faith. I remember him saying often that 'Even if I face death I will follow Jesus,'" she added. Christians Held Captive Some 200,000 prisoners are being held in political prison camps in North Korea. An estimated 30,000 of them are Christians. The regime is routinely sited for human rights violations. Won Jae-chun is a professor of law in South Korea's Handong International Law School. "They (North Korean Christians) are treated as criminals, especially as terrorists, and they are prosecuted based on national security crimes of North Korea," he said. A video obtained by CBN News shows what's believed to be the execution of North Korean Christians. "I hereby declare that the accused is sentenced to death. The death penalty must be executed at once. Ready! Fire! Fire!" a man in the video says. Kim doubts her father is alive today. "Everyone knows what happens when government agents arrest Christians in North Korea. They never make it out alive," she told CBN News. "I know my father is in Heaven and he's praying for North Korea and my family," Kim said tearfully. In a Better Place Kim's mother, grandmother and siblings managed to escape to the mountains. In 2005, with the help of a Chinese pastor, she crossed the Tumen River and defected to China. Her family followed months later. "It was a difficult decision. I knew that if I got caught I'd be arrested and sent to a prison camp," she said. "But my family defected because we were being persecuted in North Korea for our faith." Today Kim is married, has a baby boy and lives in Seoul, South Korea. "I am very proud of what she did. Her family has gone through a lot over the years. She is a hero in my eyes," Kim's husband Jeong Hyung Shin said. Kim is quick to brush aside those compliments, and instead gives honor to the man who laid down his life. "I grew up in a land where they said there was no God. But my father told me otherwise. He loved Christ and for that he died," she said. Kim has a dream to one day go back to Pyongyang and share this love with the people of North Korea. "We are getting ready for that day when the doors open," Kim said. |
Leader: Kim Jong-un Population: 25.2 million (300,000 Christians) Main Religion: Atheism/traditional beliefs Government: Communist dictatorship World Watch List Rank: 1 Source of Persecution: Dictatorial paranoia North Korea is the most dangerous place in the world to be a Christian. The state has an iron grip on its citizens; any who deviate from the two ideologies of 'Juche', which points to man's self-sufficiency, and 'Kimilsungism', the god-like worship of the nation's leading dynasty, are considered enemies of the state. Thousands of Christians are incarcerated in prison camps in North Korea, and while there are many secret believers, they face arrest, disappearance, torture, or public execution if discovered. Yet the church there is not only surviving, but growing. Read more about persecution in North Korea PLEASE PRAY: Ask for comfort and strength for the thousands of Christians imprisoned in labour camps, and the isolated believers who worship in secret. Praise God that the church is very much alive and has a vision to bring the gospel to the nations. Praise God that a UN report in February 2014 has brought North Korea to the attention of world leaders. Ask God to give them wisdom as they respond. This is another Babylonian |
We christians of today are enjoying the suffering of Jesus and his martyrs. Although, there is persecution in Arab and Asia countries. Eg, N/Korea and part of China. Where carrying of bible is criminal offence. |

by a sword wound.
2. Mark

Edessa in modern Turkey . He died
as an old man, the only apostle to
die peacefully
5. Peter
He was crucified upside down on an
x-shaped cross.
According to church tradition it was
because he told his tormentors that
he felt unworthy to die In the same
way that Jesus Christ had died.
6. James
The leader of the church in
Jerusalem , was thrown over a
hundred feet down from the
southeast pinnacle of the Temple
when he refused to deny his faith in
Christ. When they discovered that he
survived the fall, his
enemies beat James to death with a
fuller's club.
* This was the same pinnacle where
Satan had taken Jesus during the
Temptation.
7. James the Son of Zebedee,
was a fisherman by trade when Jesus
Called him to a lifetime of ministry.
As a strong leader of the church,
James was ultimately beheaded at
Jerusalem. The Roman officer who
guarded James watched amazed as
James defended his faith at his trial.
Later, the officer Walked beside
James to the place of execution.
Overcome by conviction, he declared
his new faith to the judge and Knelt
beside James to accept beheading
as a Christian.

in Patras, Greece. After being
whipped severely by seven soldiers
they tied his body to the cross with
cords to prolong his agony. His
followers reported that, when he was
led toward the cross, Andrew saluted
it in these words: 'I have long
desired and expected this happy
hour. The cross has been
consecrated by the body of Christ
hanging on it.' He continued to
preach to his tormentors For two
days until he expired.
10. Thomas
Was stabbed with a spear in India
during one of his missionary trips to
establish the church in the Sub-
continent.
11. Jude
Was killed with arrows when he
refused to deny his faith in Christ.
12. Matthias
The apostle chosen to replace the
traitor Judas Iscariot, was stoned
and then beheaded.
13. Paul
Was tortured and then beheaded by
the evil Emperor Nero at Rome in
A.D. 67. Paul endured a lengthy
imprisonment, which allowed him to
write his many
epistles to the churches he had
formed throughout the Roman
Empire. These letters, which taught
many of the foundational Doctrines of
Christianity, form a large portion of
the New Testament.
Perhaps this is a reminder to us that
our sufferings here are indeed minor
compared to the intense persecution
and cold cruelty faced by the
apostles and disciples during their
times For the sake of the Faith. And
ye shall be hated of all men for my
name's sake: But he that endureth to
the end shall be saved.
Pass on to encourage other
Christians. |

When Google announced the availability of Android Pay few days ago, the company started rolling it out to devices in phases. On Friday, the company in a Google Plus post announced that its NFC-powered tap-to-pay payment platform is now available for download from the Google Play Store , but initially for users in the US. The search giant has, in the same vein, noted that Android Pay will be replacing the good old Google Wallet, and it’ll work on devices with Near Field Communicaton (NFC) running Android OS 4.4 or later. All you have to do to use the tap-to-pay payment service is , add your credit/debit card, which should be from the four major payment networks: American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa. It’s worth noting that, former Google Wallet users will be able to access Android Pay through an update of their Wallet app. 7 0 0 0 |
It pains me, when I see churches collecting too many offerings apart from what bible stated, tithes & offerings. Yet, such organisation followers are poor and underdeveloped. |
am a christian, a committed one. I have attended MFM for seven years. Offering is collect once, all you have to do is to packed your tithes & offering or tithe only or offering only. An usher will take round the offering basket for you to drop your tithe or offering. This is done once in a single service(Sunday). I worship work with another church in Ibadan Opp. adjacent coca cola plant Sango. They also collects offering & tithes once. I attended another formerly called BCC, a branch of Pastor Grade Ogunlana's church poly Eleyele road , Ibadan. They also collect tithes and offerings once. They pay school fees for many poly. and UI students. I attended RCCG, they also collect tithes and offerings together. Many of you that attend camp meetings will testify to this. Although, they are other volunteer offerings that are paid to RCCG account for camp building project. I attended. CAC Humm... they collect more than 7 offerings in a single service and yet they are no much infrastructural development in their camp at Arakeji untill just of recent. CAC is first Pentecostal church in Nigeria, yet, they are underdevelope in terms of their camp ground and many of their branches across Nigeria. They collect the following offering like: idamewa(tithes), Ore ikole(building offerings), akanse ope(special thanksgiving), ope oseose (weekly thanksgiving), olape lopeye(he whose thanks due to) Sunday school offering, seed of blessing, thes are the few I can remember for now. K& S and , Celestial churches collect more offerings in a single service. I knew God is not in many of the offerings but indoctrinated for some people at the top. Please, fellow christians around the world, your comment is welcome. If you have experience the same in places you have worshiped, you can share your experience. |

n Niger, US soldiers quietly help build wall against Boko Haram10:11 18/09/2015Diffa - Despite years of intimidation by the violent extremist group Boko Haram, the people of south-eastern Niger's Diffa region had never held a summit to confront the threat - perhaps with good reason."One person could come here and kill us all!" Diffa's prefect, Inoussa Saouna, told 75 village leaders assembled along with politicians and military commanders in the city's pale blue-walled cultural centre. That same early September day, a double suicide bombing that bore Boko Haram's hallmarks killed 19 people in nearby Cameroon. The group, best known for its kidnapping of more than 200 schoolgirls in April 2014, has expanded from its base in Nigeria to threaten the region. It has menaced U.S. and European allies in west Africa, and leader Abubakar Shekau in March pledged its loyalty to Islamic State. The Diffa meeting was a modest success not just for its mutually suspicious tribes but for a small team offewer than 20 US Special Operations Forces conducting an experiment that is part of President Barack Obama's newcounter-terrorism strategy.Indirect strategyThe soldiers, who encouraged the meeting and helped provide a ring of security, do not go into combat, or even wear uniforms. They are quietly trying tohelp Niger build a wall against Boko Haram's incursions and its recruitment of Diffa's youth.A Reuters reporter was the first to visit the detachment, which is among about 1 000 US. Special Operations Forces deployed across Africa. In Chad, Nigeria, Niger and elsewhere, they are executing Obama's relatively low-risk strategy of countering Islamic extremists by finding local partners willing to fight rather than deploying combat troops by the thousands. The new approach, which Obama announced in May 2014, is far from being a silver bullet for the United States in its global battle against Islamic militancy. The indirect strategy appears to be faltering in the Middle East, where the United States has foundfew reliable allies on the battlefield in Syria. In Iraq, US-trained and -equipped forces evaporated last year in the face of Islamic State's offensive. In Niger, there are signs of success against Boko Haram, although progress will likely be slow in a years-long effort, US, European and African officials say."For the region, this is going to be a struggle that's going to be with them fora long time, not just in Niger, but elsewhere," said Army Colonel Bob Wilson, commander of US Special Operations Forces in north and west Africa.Porous borderUS officials say they see predominantly Muslim Niger as worth helping. Relatively stable, but facing national and local elections in 2016, it is threatened by Boko Haram in Nigeria to the south, chaos in Libya to the north and an al Qaeda affiliate that operates inneighboring Algeria and Mali. The US soldiers in Diffa described their mission as a sharp and welcome pivot from the Iraq and Afghan wars, where virtually all of them served. The US military has not said how long their presence will last."It's a totally different approach to the problem set," an American team sergeant said in an interview. The Special Operations soldiers cannot be identified by name under military ground rules. In Iraq and Afghanistan, the United States also works with local security forces and leaders - but has wielded thousands of combat troops, drone strikes and pricey aid projects. There is none of that in Diffa, a region that includes more than 200 villages along a 273km stretch of the Komadougou Yobe river that marks the porous border with Nigeria.Regroup and disappearIn April, at Niger's request, the Americansoldiers reinforced their small ranks on a drab, dusty compound with few amenities. Boko Haram was mounting aregional rampage and in February had launched significant attacks inside Niger for the first time. Also read:Nigerian refugees in 'atrocious' situation in Niger: UNWorking alongside them is an unusual US non-profit group, Spirit of America, that says it also aims to leave a light footprint. Under written understandings with the Pentagon, it buttresses US military missions by providing local populations with small-scale assistance that would take Washington's bureaucracy months or years to procure. In Niger, the group has provided first-aid kits, Camelbak hydration systems and medical detectors for Niger's military. It covered the $4 000 cost of the anti-Boko Haram summit."It's providing them with enough to get through this critical phase," said Isaac Eagan, Spirit of America's field operations director. "It's not fixing everything."Boko Haram has long used Niger for refuge and resupply, officials said. By the time the US team sergeant and his men arrived, it had been luring young men from Diffa's villages since the late 2000s, offering money and adventure, he said."We missed the recruiting portion of it," he said.Anafi Ousmane, a member of Diffa's mayor's council, told Reuters there had been three consecutive bad harvests of peppers, a primary crop, leaving young farmers deep in debt.Suspected informants"Now Boko Haram's seeing that vulnerability," he said through a translator. "I will give you money. I will give you another motor bike, I will give you a woman. Join me."One group of US soldiers was training Niger military's 3rd Antiterrorist Company. Another began to grapple with the civilian side of the problem, accompanying the nascent civil-militaryaffairs unit of Niger's military on visits tovillages up and down the river. They encouraged villagers to report Boko Haram activity to military authorities and young people to establish watch groups. Spirit of America provided mobile phone credits to help.Boko Haram has killed suspected informants and fear of the group persists. In June, the militants attacked two villages in Diffa, killing at least 30 civilians. Some died inside their mostly straw-thatched houses, which were set alight.Sergeant Fougou Saley, chief of civil-military affairs for the Diffa region, said Boko Haram's violent tactics have alienated much of the populace. But he said it still draws support from some of the Kanuri people, whose lands straddlenortheastern Nigeria and southeastern Niger."In some places, some still have their heart toward Boko Haram," said Saley, himself a Kanuri. But African, US and European officials say the group's attacks in Niger have dropped significantly in the face of a regional counter-offensive this year by Nigeria, Niger, Chad and Cameroon."I think their command structure has suffered a lot," Colonel Major Moussa Salaou Barmou, commander of the military district that encompasses Diffa, told Reuters. But Barmou said he warned his superiors: "Always keep in mind one fact, that Boko Haram still keeps the ability to regroup very fast, conduct an action and disappear again."For how long? The counter-Boko Haram summit brought together representatives of the Kanuri, Faluni and Buduma tribes, as well as representatives of thousands of refugees who have fled violence in northern Nigeria.Voices were raised over whether former Boko Haram members who had been arrested and set free should be allowed to rejoin their communities. Most said no. When one speaker declared that captured insurgents should be executed, applause broke out.The US soldiers stuck to their behind-the-scenes approach. The team sergeant and a few others watched fromthe back of the room and did not intervene even when the gathering appeared to almost collapse in confusion after 20 minutes. The soldiers say they feel more welcome in Niger than in Iraq and Afghanistan, where the long U.S. military presence, American missteps and mutual misunderstandings eroded tolerance."They're fully supportive of getting BokoHaram out of here. It's nice to be able towork with folks like that - that want the problem gone," said the team sergeant, who was wrapping up his deployment and handing off to his replacement.Less clear is how long the Americans will remain. One thing they won't leave behind is large-scale development projects like those in Iraq and Afghanistan. Years of reports by US inspectors general documented wide-scale waste and corruption in |
