President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja on Thursday warned that he will not tolerate any irregularities or extortion of money from unemployed Nigerians in the coming recruitment into the police. The President had last Monday announced the plans of his administration to beef up the Nigerian police force in response to the security challenges facing the country with recruitment of 10,000 men. There have been allegations of extortion of applicants for employment into the Police in recent past. But a a meeting with officials of the Ministry of Police Affairs and the Police Service Commission in the Presidential Villa, President Buhari sad that applicants having to pay bribes before being accepted into the police in the past was totally unacceptable. The President told the officials that those in charge of recruitment and training in the Police must be above board and eschew every form of extortion and underhand dealing. “You must ensure that the recruitment process is transparent. Those who will conduct the recruitment must be above board. It should not be heard that they receive gratification or extort money from those who want to enlist in the police,” Buhari cautioned. The President also directed the Inspector-General of Police to prune down the number of policemen attached to dignitaries, and redeploy all policemen withdrawn from that role to regular police duties. On the stagnation of policemen on a rank for many years, the President counselled the Police Service Commission to review the current structure of the police, and make recommendations on how the problem can be solved to boost the morale of serving policemen. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Dr James Obiegbu had, in his briefing of the President, listed inadequate police personnel, dwindling finances and non-rehabilitation of police training schools as some of the challenges facing the police. The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Sir Mike Okiro said that the country needed to have more than the 305,579 policemen and women which it has at present for effective policing. He thanked President Buhari for approving the recruitment of 10,000 additional policemen and women earlier this week. barcanista:Barcanista and Hypocrisy. When your brother was in power for six years nobody hold him not to setup anti corruption campaign against Tinubu. And for Amaechi, Wike can go and probe him and if guilty he should be prosecuted. |
As a graduate, we all have a story to tell. Mine was with Unilag Holding popular called UNIHOLD. A subsidiary of Unilag but still a federal government job. On d day of the test, I was discourage by number of applicant but thank God it's CBT. I applied for Senior Store Officer, even though I didn't have d required experience I believe I could convince them during d interview. God willing I stalled thru d test part and it was then a panel interview at Unilag guest house. We were 22 in no and d interview was scheduled for 3PM. I prepared well and make necessary findings. I got to d interview by 1pm at least to meet people and ask them how far about their interview. Not until our turn they dey need to have a recess. Well, we patiently waiting for them till 8pm, then my instinct told me dis people have decided who they want to select already. Then by 8:30pm they told us to come in at once. Then one prof from d panel said in two sentences we should introduce our self. Then d big qualifications stated rolling in, Phd in view, MBA Msc bla, bla bla. After d intro, dey asked a question from accounting for inventory, one old man sharperly answer d question as if he had d expo before, I know d question as well but dey didn't give others d chance to answer it. Then I heard ladies and gentlemen that's all we could have for today. We will get back to you soonest. Chai!!! My eye was red and I was thinking what type of interview is this. Then, people started calling their Godfather to inform them about d progress. Unfortunately I didn't have anybody to call. |

I'm considering sending her official mail to express my opinion about this test. For me the test is a sham as it was marred by one issue or the other. |
