For the past 4wks now, it has been Amaechi here and there. Today everything will end positively for him.

The man called Amaechi is even popular than Ojukwu, I tell you. Apart from the fact that he turned PDP, the most populous party in Africa to regional party of South East in the last election, he is the man whose popularity cuts across every tribes, regions and states in Nigeria.

Congratulations to the slayer of PDP/GEJ.

The professor is a pure technocrat and is not a "noise maker".

His inexperience in politics may mean he may have been picked for being clean from corruption.

Education Minister me thinks.

Isn't it surprising to you that nobody asked him about the Judiciary palava during his tenure as governor?
Blame PDP senators who chickened out. APC senators tried by asking him questions, some of which bothered on the allegations against him. Amaechi spent almost one hour answering questions from APC senators. If PDP was for politics without bitterness, they could have participated as well.

Imagine this Prof telling us that history is no more taught in schools today. I was already surprised when the Senator asked about lack of civic education and history been taught in schools as done before only to be angry that a potential minister of education doesn't know that also.
Unilorin peeps, don't you have history department in your school or doesn't he know know that civic edu is been taught in primary schools and history in sec schools?
He's just boring and not promising.

The professor is right.

CIVIC EDUCATION has just been recently re-introduced to secondary schools and also WAEC exam syllabus. We deal in books/stationeries, so we know.
HISTORY is not a major WAEC subject in secondary schools anymore. HISTORY is only done as a specialist course in Universities now.
Civic education, History should be made compulsory all the way from primary, secondary and tertiary schools. That's what the Prof and the senator were trying to say and imply.

I would rather a corrupt man who creams of the top but had good ideas and implements them than a clean man with no ideas who is incompetent or has no managerial experience or record and who will waste our money on poorly thought out ideas.

I just hope in the unfortunate event that this prof is confirmed, he is made a junior minister

my opinion - Senate should not confirm him, the worst so far

Well, there's twice as much we don't know than we do know.
From my observation of unspoken words and reactions, a session held before the session we witnessed.

There is something about their collective silence.
Either ways, it is what it is and I am disappointed at both sides.
Those folks up there are not worth being called my leaders.
I'm sorry to say, but they disgust me.

There was only one question from the red cap man on allegations....the rest were gloating. Please what's the red cap man's name?
I stand to be corrected.

When a man wakes up, freshens up, and goes to the senate with the mindset of representing the interest of a hundred million Nigerians and then ends up asking questions like...What is your recipe for peace between ministers and governors....?
Then there's problem.
A big problem.
We can keep living in denial, it's allowed.

That northern senator was trying to ask him about vocational education, not functional education. There's nothing called functional education in this context, and the Prof. couldn't even process or correct that. He just went along and said he supports functional education.

Ur submission on why Akpabio was invited by EFCC is...Am sorry rather myopic and informed by half baked information at your disposal sir . Because if are very up to date on d issue u are wailing about you will understand that Senator Akpabio himself after his first visit to EFCC told d press that the invitation has been sent to him right before he had accident and went abroad for treatment. So where is the correlation between Ameachi's ministerial confirmation and Akpabio's invitation to come defend allegations of corruption levelled against him one lawyer from his state?

Am not against airing ur views about issues but misleading d public and indeed the world who come in contact with our post worldwide is not so good for you as an individual and d image of the country. Nigeria name has be been battered worldwide already, don't let us be adding salt to the injury. If you wanna leave no problem, d world is a global village already. But please, please and please stop making unnecessary submission based on ur personal unsubstantiated prejudice to rub more mud on d name Nigeria.

I love Nigeria my country, God bless Nigeria.

If my sister wasn't married, I will give her hands out to you in marriage because with what you have written you will always make sensible decisions for your family.

the point is it is better to see a man with the vision to conceive and bring a worthwhile and long lasting project to the people but takes a kickback in the process, than a man who wastes our money on a project that benefits no one because it wasn't well thought out in the 1st place.

I'm not condoning corruption or advocating appointing corrupt people but Incompetence is just as bad as corruption! And in the search for "clean" hands lets not disregard ability, vision, ideas, past record in management and especially competence simply because a man is clean.

If you build a world class road, take a kick back and it lasts 25 years no pothole, as far as benefit to the people and value for money, you are better than the man who builds a road takes no kick back but the road collapses after 2 years. You have wasted money and you will have to find money to fix that road.

like I said I'm not condoning corruption but incompetence is close if not just as bad.

The man is Gbenga Ashafa.

The only side to blame today is PDP.

The fact is that there was no legal and genuine reason not to screen Amaechi since he has not been indicted by any law court.

So, PDP erred in failing to ask him the tough questions as expected. Though he may still have scaled the screening despite those questions, but they will have done their part.

I agree with you. I live in a country where things work perfectly that you will think there isn't corruption but we know it exists. Just that you dare not fail to perform even after giving kickback as a contractor.

But be mindful of the fact that not everyone is gifted with eloquence in speaking. As far as ministers can be removed at anytime for lack of performance, not much damage will be done before long.
