Dear auto gurus, I work for a mazda dealership here in the us and I have noticed there are not that many listings for mazdas except for the old 626 and 323. They are building some nice products like the 3 series which compares favorably with the corolla and the cx 9 which won the suv of the year. They also have a compact 5 series mini van that seats 7 and has a sexier look for younger moms. Although it is a ford product a lot of the assembly is done in Japan. Any input will be greatly appreciated, because I am thinking of sending some home. |
Just downloaded chrome and I am loving the speed. I a m a long time user of mozilla and this might make me switch. A couple of minor glitches and getting used to the layout are the only drawback I see so far but the speed more than makes up for it. |
@poster. I would love to see this work, especially since I cannot live without it in Yankee land. But there are some issues with in Nigeria. There is no uniform names of streets in Nigeria, take Abeokuta for instance, the street I grew up on has 3 different names. I looked up your website for Abeokuta and most of the roads are "unnamed streets" I wish you luck with this project but it is going to be difficult. |
Have you recently moved back to Nigeria after a long time abroad? What was your adjustment like?. Please share your experience because I am thinking of moving back home to try to start a business but I am getting cold feet. |
I have attached the link for the site bellow, from what I remember you can buy them through banks and you can also buy it directly but I think you need a social security # for it, check out the link it should answer all your questions. http://www.treasurydirect.gov/ |
Do you reside in nigeria or us |
shigidi:Are you in Nigeria and can you only open the acct with them if you are in the country? |
Seun:How expensive is too expensive and what do you think about the Abeokuta market. Are there ice cream parlours. Thanks lost son of Abeokuta ![]() |

Thanks for the clarification, without a huge sell off @ what price would you get . I still think there is going to be further depression on the price that has nothing to do with performance but more to do with investor's lack of instant gratification. So many are making such quick roi that the concept of waiting for 3-5 yrs is foreign to them. |
@ Temmie 10 Are you saying you would not stake a position in Transcorp even @ #3 per share. It seems to me that they have too many businesses and one that we need in Nigeria hence they have to turn the corner in the long run. Pls let me know your position. AkininNC |
Please excuse my ignorance but who and what is the customer base in Calabar. It is all well and good for us to come here to establish businesses but are there enough consumers? I am also hearing that Tinapa is not fully rented, can any one shed some light on this. |
Finally an intelligent thread. have you been able to come up with a way to fund your acct with your brokers without having to send the money to a" trusted "relative and hoping they will deposit it with the broker? |
@ Viperman, You seem to have a pretty good handle on the auto business in 9ja. Tell me what are the most desirable and most requested you get. I just started working at a car dealership here stateside and we get cars in that we send directly to auction that I can get at a nice discount. Please email me maybe we can get something going. check my profile for my email. |
Just checked Nigerian Bottling website. They are proposing a 1:2 bonus issue. NICE!!!!!!!!! s Sorry I thought I was on the Nigerian site but I was wrong, wishful thinking on part |
@Temmie 10 et al Do you guys have a position in Union Bank? What is your feeling about their prospects as to matching 1st Bank's performance. Also if you had over 30% of your portfolio in the bank would you divesting of some shares and use the proceeds in a more aggressive company. Thanks for the input. |
@ Jino What have been quoted so far I am also interested in retal space in Calabar. Thanks |
@ Seun How viable is this transportation business. Would our model in the US work ie scheduled departure time, clean buses, assigned sitting etc. BTW I am a fellow ogun state man looking to move back home after a looooooooooong time away and looking for all kinds of business ideas. Also do u know of any really nice night clubs in Abeokuta. |
anyone know of any nice clubs in Abeokuta and if not do u think there is a demand for it. I am sick and tired of running to Lagos and Abuja with all the other gold seekers. I do not need to make 100 mil a year. Also how may universities are there in Abeokuta? |
very insightful. Nigerian Banks have to relax their lending guidelines otherwise they will stunt their growth. |
If I were to open a Chinese restaurant in Naija, are supplies easy to get? I am talking about traditional chinese ingridents such as soy sauce, hoisin sauce etc. Any info would be appreciated. |
Thanks for the info guys. Are u planning on getting into Wema @ a certain price? Any other insurance "hotpicks" AkininNC |
This is an open question to any stockbrokers in the house. I inherited some stocks from my father a couple of years ago. I started the transfer process in June 2005. I have a young stockbroker working on my behalf but I wonder if the process would be faster if I moved it to a bigger house. Has anyone gone thru the process and if so tell how long it took to accomplish the transfer. @ Temmie10 Are you still bullish about Crusader? |
My time at he school was very short(1977-78) but I have quite a strong connection because my Father was the Agsoba president for a while so pls tell me what u had in mind. |
@easimoni Thanks for the info. You guys are great. |
@ Temmie, Thanks for the info, any suggestions on the rest of the portfolio?. Thanks again and sorry for my ignorance I am new to the mkt and I have just started going back home after a long absence but I have started to feel the pull. Any other inputs would be appreciated. |
Hello everyone, I am new to the forum but I have become fascinated to the point of becoming almost addicted. Keep up the good work and thanks for all the useful info. I wish I had heeded my fathers advice and gotten in the market 15 years ago. But God bless him because he left his children a nice portfolio, hence my post. I need advice on my shares in the following cos. 1) Nigerian Bottling Co. ( I am guess I should hold on to this) 2) Afribank (same I guess) 3) Union Bank ( same) 4) Nigerian Breweries (same) 5) Wapco (same) 6) Flour Mills of Ng ( sell or hold) 7) UAC of Ng( little movement sell or hold?) UAC Property Dev. PLC( no movement at all sell or hold).I Am seeking advice as to selling and buying some different stocks. Thanks Y'all |
I am new to the forum. Does anyone have any feelings about the outlook on Afribank? I have quite a few of the shares. Any ideas on whether to hold onto uacn and uac propertiess, they both seem stagnant. Thanks |

UAC Property Dev. PLC( no movement at all sell or hold).
