Between Blogger and Wordpress, which is better? If blogging is your business, Wordpress all the way. But if your blog is just an hobby...settle for less - go with blogger. |
Betboss:That's a good write up....keep it up. However, I'll like to call your attention to something, "typo error". After writing your post, before hitting the publish button take some time to read through every word from top to bottom. Or better, install this google chrome extension "Grammarly". You'll see the big difference in your writing once you install this chrome extension. Just try it. |
amosbz:These things you pointed out are good to watch out for but they're just the basic SEO stuff, plus if you're on Wordpress...some SEO plugins like Yoast will automatically take care of things like XML Sitemap. So you don't need to worry over it. From experience, the strongest factor that increases search traffic is the quality, quantity and relevancy of external links pointing to your individual webpages. The more credible and authoritative links you can get to your blog, the more Google believes your content are super useful and that people loves it and find it more useful than others. This is why you see smart marketers engaging more in content marketing, guest blogging and all sort of link building tactics. My take... |
Brainaic:My question is...what exactly do you want to achieve? Is it backlinks? Or what? |
Oliviaarims:SEO is the short acronym for “search engine optimization“, it is the process or technics (not an art or science) you can implement on (on-page SEO) and off your web pages to influence your search engine ranking positions, boost search visibility so that targeted audience who enter search phrases (keywords) related to your business can find your blog content while using search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing and others. And in my humble opinion, SEO is better learn and master from personal experiences, trials, errors, obstacles, victories, reading other people's blog, case studies, research, determination, focus etc….than to depend on someone to supply you a handout. Here is a comprehensive post that goes more in-depth on what is SEO and How it really works. http://cybernaira.com/2014/what-is-seo/ |
philsss:Sorry for my late reply... You're doing good with your website but few things I see need improvement or immediate attention are: 1. Readers will find your articles hard to read because you're not making use of short paragraphs. Take a look at this article: http://www.gistnigerians.com/2016/03/ben-murray-bruce-said-nigeria-biggest.html There is no way am going to read through that long wall of text. 2. Consider linking relevant articles together within your blog contents. 3. Linking out is a good SEO practice but for your type of blog topics, you might not want sending your readers away for more information. 4. To improve SEO traffic, you'll need to get quality links to your web pages and this is an on-going activity. The more credible relevant links you get to your web pages, the better your chances to drive search traffic. 5. But for your type of blog topic is better to go the paid content route because most of your content are time-sensitive. The quicker you get the word out to your target audience, the better. Nobody wants to read yesterday news. 6. Try spending what you can afford without going broke on adverting your content. You'll reach wider audience quickly. Here is a detailed post I published on how to generate SEO traffic to your blog. It's a massive 3,000 plus post...so read when you're less busy. http://justwebsitetraffic.com/increase-organic-seo-traffic/ |

Deeplydanoo:I like your style! Well, I don't claim to be an SEO guru or traffic junkie, but from my experience in online marketing, I can share some tips with you. Some of it will not apply to your niche, especially if you're in the news and entertainment industry. But if you're writing on every green topic, many of what I'll share with you here will help. First, if you have started your blog or about to start...take a few moments to examine this things: Who are your target audience? Are you blogging on a specific topic or your blog is about all topics under the sun? I know this is not what you're expecting to hear but you see....if you haven't identify your ideal audience but running after how to drive traffic to the blog, you may ended up driving bounce traffic or at most, hit and run readers. So take that first assignment. Note - the more you narrow down on your audience, the better for your blog growth. When you're done, follow these steps: 1. Write less, promote more to the right audience. 2. Always make sure every piece of content you publish are of top quality, if you don't have something better to say, don't hit the publish button. 3. Take advantage of content syndication sites, participate in the community so your content can be seen by relevant top figures in your industry which can lead to mentions in other publications (assuming your content are of top qualities). 4. Answer your audience question with your content not running after high volume keywords. You only need to align your content to a topical keyword in other to give it a boost in search traffic. 5. Always interlink your articles together, most importantly, your earlier posts. 6. Don't be a selfish blogger, in other words....always link out to relevant contents on other people's blog. 7. Links are the bedrock of great search visibility, if you want to generate organic search traffic....do these two things well: Write very top quality content and generate quality backlinks to it (plenty of it). 8. Each of these tips I shared with you stand alone as a content topic that can be explore further, I advice you visit relevant top blogs to learn more on how you can get the best out of each tactics. Sorry I fogot some... 9. Find out what is onpage optimization and how to get it right. 10. Don't bother about off page optimization because it's all about link building and I already share that with you above. 11. Whatever is not useful for your blog users, remove it on your blog. Make your blog design clutter free. I can continue going on and on and on......but, start from here first. Hope this little things help . |
ikihealthplus:Yes, it is possible not to be posting content on regular bases and still drive consistent traffic to your contents. It depends on lots of factors and the niche you're in. If you're in the news and entertainment, technology, events niches etc....You have to be posting multiple times per day, otherwise traffic may drop. But if you're blogging on evergreen topics, like online marketing topics (blogging tips and tutorials, SEO, affiliate marketing, content marketing, Wordpress related etc) yes, I say it with confidence.....you can be publishing once every week or so and still consistently drive targeted traffic. Even once every two weeks is still a viable option and your traffic level won't be affected. I have seen bloggers who blog once in a while and still drive close to 100,000 monthly unique visits. It all depends on knowing what really matters and doing them well, consistently and stop waiting time on things that don't have direct impact or effects on your online business growth. As a matter of fact, I don't post content more than once per week and am doing okay base on my marketing reach and efforts. If I had put more effort on "content marketing" (note I didn't say publishing content) am sure my traffic growth will increase. If you're in the every green niche, focus more of your attention, efforts and content marketing strategies on activities that will earn you quality links to your contents. This is because search engine traffic is going to be your surest bet if you want to consistently drive traffic to your contents without pouring out contents upon contents all the time. Among all Google ranking factors, link profile get the lion share. Without quality relevant links pointing to a page, even the best of content may struggles to get reasonable search traffic. |
goldenmulip:Try Google how much domain names like s*x.com, p**n.com, wine.com etc are bought. You'll begin to discover there is more to business than what the eyes can see. |

SurefireAsoOke:The OP is damn right, except that you're leaving in some area in Nigeria where electricity is constant or you have enough money to burn on fuel, then you might think otherwise. Your points too are valid and I understand why you mentioned them (many bloggers in Nigeria are copy/paste and lack effective content marketing tactics), but from my practical experience with the impact/effects of constant power supply on the ICT industry and output of an individual blogger/online entrepreneur, except the Nigerian government address this power supply issue with utmost urgency, sincerity, honesty and make it affordable to all Nigerians....... I doubt if poverty will not gulp up this nation one day. Let me tell you, sometimes I use to spend four to five days writing some in-depth articles that in a well-favorable situation, shouldn't have taken more than 24 hours to complete. Why, you may ask? Answer: no electricity to power my laptop. And sometimes, fuel scarcity, or maybe generator faulty. In fact, just last night I wanted to power on my generator to work on some articles I need to submit for guest post, but to God who created me, the generator couldn't start and no PHCN supply. Another valuable time wasted. Compare to some advanced countries that guarantee 24 hours power supply, bloggers can work to any point on his internet business and do all he wants atany time. |

There has been a lot of hype around StudioPress Parallax theme over the years, either this theme worth the hype or not is a matter of who is talking. HAkorehdeh:My advice here doesn't mean you shouldn't start a "review" blog with free platform, but just want to let you know and understand that you can only do very little with free blogging platform when it comes to a review site. To build a kind of review site that will attract buying audience, you need a quality review blog with some basic elements on the page. Base on your current situation, go with blogger. |
caoalvin:I thought am the only one experiencing this Naija attitude; I usually receive at least three calls each week for one on one internet marketing coaching, when it comes down to coaching fee.......these people will start talking another thing. It is either they complain of distance, promise to come some other time or just won't show up again. So I think, after spending years, money, time and energy learning what I know today.....putting up a blog and maintain it for 3 years....these people expect me to download everything I know into their skull for FREE? No way! am not going to do that! I have writing a book on bloggjng and give it out for free, another one about to complete which is going to be also free, but to say I will sit for hours with you in front of computer teaching you what I know for free? is not going to happen. |

BiafranPrince:OP didn't make it clear he is talking from "developer" aspect, he just saying "is your website mobile-friendly"? Any one these days has a website/blog, and considering that vast majority of Nigerians uses CMS such as WordPress for their website/blog.....I assume he is talking about ensuring your website is mobile friendly to everyone in general that owns website. emmyw:The number of the likes isn't the issue, but the source of it. Paying for likes may not completely be a waste of money if you have done your homework well before placing your fb page on ads. Many marketers don't knows who their best audience are based on what they offer on their website, they just run after a particular country traffic because their friend or mentor told them is best kind of traffic.....whereas it may not be the best traffic for their kind of offer. Age, Interest group, location, sex, likes, etc are parts of what one should consider before running an ads. |
