Note Arab settlers did not replace the people living in Palestine/Jerusalem (you call it today Isreal) but as time pass Palestine/Jerusalem ruling fell under control of different Empires (like Roman, abysyria, Ottoman) before Britain came to colonized them. For majority of periods it's under Ottoman Empire which make majority of them to embrace Islamic culture, lannguage, appearance and religion. But they have their linage trace to David, Solomon and other prophets that has come. Not all Palestines are Muslims, some are Jews and some are Christians but majority of them are Muslim.

To explain better understand how possible people living in Jerusalem/Palestine can become Muslim against remain as Jews. The rulers always impact way of life of his subjects particularly in those stone age. For example in Africa/Nigeria, majority are idol worshipers before European came to colonized, nowadays majority of people claimed to be Christian or Muslim, even some are still engage in pagan practice.
