In those days while he yet sought the votes of his people, Udom Emmanuel offered an industrialization agenda, and the people called him "Mr. Industrialization," even unto this day. And so for three years, the tree of industrialization beareth much fruit (with several industries taking-off silently), even as the ground is being prepared for a host of others…

1Many years ago, arguably the biggest paint industry in Nigeria at the time, Peacock Paints Limited thrived in Ikot Ekan in Etinan. Three years ago, the once famed industry lay, not only moribund, but deeply indebted. Three months after resumption of office in 2015, ‘Mr. Industrialization' approved the investment of over N500 million to ensure the reactivation of the ailing industry, to guarantee the exclusion of private equity share participation, and to clear the debts of the company amassing from interest on a N30 million loan secured many years earlier.

Today, this move to salvage the factory has seen the light of day and restored the premium decorative, gloss and marine paint in the market. Employment opportunities have been created for indigenes of the State though the Company has German investors as operational partners.

2Day-old-chicks (DOCs) were hitherto transported to the eastern part of the country at exorbitant costs with the attendant risks of death and sickness to these fragile birds, and other exigencies from the Western part of the country. The Akwa Ibom State Government inherited a project site designated for a hatchery facility at Mbiaya in Uruan Local Government Area and entered into an agreement with Prime Poultry, an investor from Ethiopia, for the take-off of Akwa Prime Poultry Hatchery Limited. This venture has proven to be a timely intervention measure in providing day-old-chicks (DOCs) for poultry farmers in the East of the country and environs, as well as promoting cost-effective participation in the very lucrative poultry business.

Akwa Prime Hatchery has provided direct employment to over 70 Akwa Ibomites while also providing wealth-creation opportunities for several others through an extensive value chain. The feed mill requires raw materials including maize, soybean, bones and horns of animals, as well as shells. This incorporates maize and soybeans farmers, palm kernel processors, fishermen, abattoir workers, as well as carpenters amongst others. The breeder farm - constructed to alleviate the hatchery's initial burden of buying eggs, hatching them before selling the day-old chicks - creates a ready market for wood shavings and saw dust. Akwa Prime hatchery is still evolving and has prospects for massive expansion, and invariably, further employment opportunities.

3Pencils and Toothpicks used all over the African continent are predominantly produced and imported from China. Nigeria and other African countries are now experiencing a reprieve from the importation of these products as Akwa Ibom State's industrialization voyage has successfully berthed the first operational toothpick and pencils factory in Nigeria.

Late in 2016, the Government procured and installed all the required machines and equipment at the AKEES Toothpick & Pencil Factory in Etinan. Less than a year later, the factory commenced production of toothpick and of course, quality pencils with 60 indigenous members of staff.
With the endless demand for toothpick, the wide availability of bamboo (which is a major raw material) in the state will ensure the sustainability of this project. To strengthen this, the state government has gone a step further to enter into a partnership agreement with the World Bamboo Organization for the cultivation of bamboo in the state.

4When many foreign businesses folded up and left Nigeria in the heat of the recession, VKS Group, a Turkish construction firm stayed put and established Jubilee Syringe Manufacturing Company, the first Syringe Manufacturing Company in Sub-Sahara Africa in Onna, Akwa Ibom State. This factory positions Nigeria as the largest syringe manufacturing company in Africa, after taking off at a production capacity of about 400 million syringes annually (dwarfing the 93 million annual capacity of Africa's only other syringe manufacturing company in South Africa. With daily usage which translates to a huge global demand for syringes, Akwa Ibom now has the world's attention for the supply of this very essential piece of medical equipment.

5Power is key to industrialization and Governor Emmanuel's passion to make electricity readily available and affordable in the state was the major motivation for the establishment of the Metering Solutions Manufacturing Services Limited (MSMSL). MSMSL is on ground today and will bring solutions to consumer's headaches and the challenges of power billing systems in the country. The industry produces various configurations of electricity meters which will provide for a more efficient billing system.

Let it be written therefore in the book of industrialization that, as was promised, Peacock Paints Limited, Akwa Prime Poultry & Hatchery Limited, Akees Toothpick & Pencil Factory in Etinan, Jubilee Syringe Manufacturing and the Metering Solution Manufacturing Limited in Onna, have all come alive in the land of Akwa Ibom. Let it also be known that St. Gabriel Coconut Refinery, AKEES Plastics, Ibom Deep Seaport and several others shall likewise be delivered, in the fullness of time.

PDP NAT'L LEGAL ADVISER BLOWS HOT AGAINST MALLAM EL RUFAI
Anything that is managed by El Rufai must be held in very high suspicion. Because El Rufai doesn’t have the character of consistency, he is not someone that can be believed. El Rufai is one man that can change character from time to time. Meanwhile this is a man he said was not qualified to run Nigeria, he doesn’t have the credentials to run Nigeria. So El Rufai is not a man to be believed. They gave that job to El Rufai, because they know that El Rufai doesn’t mean what he says.

Why I Attack Murray, African Church Reverend Opens Up

African Church clergy, Rev'd Richard Peters has opened up on his constant sponsored attacks on the Member representing Uyo State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly (AKHA), Hon. Monday Eyo.

Part of the reasons he gave for his illicit act is the refusal of Murray, as the Lawmaker is fondly called, to include him in his media team, instead, chose to work with someone whom he feels has no training for the media profession.

In his words: "He is a stingy type and he choose to operate with Aniebiet Antia who has no training in the media.

"I had a problem and called him as my House Member but he refused to attend to me," Rev. Richard said in a chat.

Speaking further the self-aclaimed reverend said he is angry that people from other local governments are working for Murray and he has not been called upon, adding "If the House member of Eket, Commissioner for Works and others can use me, why is my House member not using me."

Rev. Richard has, in recent times, been sponsoring series of attacks to justify his selfish desires in order to tarnish the image of the Uyo House member and deter his second term ambition.

2019: 'OBA' is a saleable and popular candidate for Uyo Senatorial District - Uyo PDP Chapter Chairman

Contrary to report that the PDP Chapter Chairman for Uyo Local Government, Mr. Idorenyin Orok has denied endorsing the second term ambition of Senator Bassey Albert, the Chapter Chairman has said that he is yet to see any aspirant who can match OBA's popularity and capability to represent the people of Uyo Senatorial District in 2019.

Orok stated this while distancing himself from social media report alleging that he (Orok) spoke with a certain journalist on phone over OBA's endorsement by some Chapter Chairmen.

Speaking, the Uyo Chapter Chairman said though he is not owing the reporter any explanation on whether he endorsed Senator Albert or not, it was rather unfortunate that someone will sit down somewhere and lied that he spoke with him (Orok) on phone.

"I don't know the writer of the report, I have never discussed my support to OBA with any journalist talk less of endorsement. OBA is representing us well and as such he is popular and very much on ground for 2019 Senate poll because one good turn, they say, deserves another. PDP will give tickets only to saleable candidates who will win election on ground," Orok said.

Further he said PDP as a party is working hard to line up good and saleable candidates in the 2019 election, especially as the party is preparing to take back the center of government and also return Governor Udom Emmanuel for a second term.

While calling on the people of Uyo Local Government and Uyo Senatorial District to team up and support PDP, the Chapter Chairman warned those using his name and office fraudulently to desist from it else will face the law.

"If you know him, tell him to remove my name from that report. I don't know him before and I have never spoken with him. Tell him to stop using my name and my office to write fake news and make money from his sponsors. He If he could write that he spoke with me when in the real sense he did not, it therefore means the entire report is false, he might not have spoken with any Chapter Chairman and off course you know such act is fraudulent? Akwa Ibom State Government creates account numbers for donations to the International Worship Centre
Akwa Ibom State Government has created two accounts numbers for members of the public to contribute towards the construction of a befitting International Worship Centre. The account numbers are: 1015488911 (Zenith) and 2032802382 (First Bank Plc).
It will be recalled that the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, had at the ground breaking ceremony of the construction of the International Worship Centre which was performed by the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCC, Pastor Enoch Adeboye informed the world that donations will be received from members of the public who may be willing to contribute to the building of a befitting worship centre for the Lord. He had also stated that the project is not wholly financed by the State Government, but that philanthropists and corporate organizations are welcome to support the project.
According to Pastor Akwatang, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Religious Matters “this is a laudable project that every Christian should support. As a State that is deeply Christian -oriented, having a befitting worship centre should be a thing of pride to the people of the State and the Governor should be commended for the brining this vision to reality”.

Akwa Ibom Governor Udom Emmanuel will today in Abuja, receive the Integrity and National Service Award 2017 in conformity with the ethos of good governance, outstanding service delivery and principles of peer-review mechanism.

The Award bagged under the Health Care Delivery and Gender Empowerment assessment scorecard of the NTA Integrity and Service Programme is to be presented to Governor Udom Emmanuel at the Banquet Hall of Aso Presidential Villa by the Presidency in Abuja.

According to the organizers of the Integrity and National Service Award 2017, the award based on Merit, is geared at giving impetus to the ongoing pursuits for public accountability, excellence, patriotism and national integration as well as providing a veritable avenue for a healthy competition and excellence in service delivery by MDAs of States and Federal Government.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Charles Udoh who disclosed this to the media in Uyo, said, the award is very deserving in acknowledgement of the landmark strides of Governor Udom Emmanuel in Healthcare Delivery and Gender empowerment in the State and enumerated the achievements of the Governor in the Health sector to include: Free medicare to Children in the age bracket of 0 – 5 years, Pregnant women and the aged, the ongoing huge government investment in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of secondary health institutions in the state and the delivery of containers of state-of-the-arts medical health facilities to the state for distribution to health institutions in the state.

Charles Udoh emphasized that, already the Etinan General Hospital has been given a complete turn-around both in face-lift and facilities adding that, the output of the hospital is very impressive as patients in-take has been in the increase with the modern facilities in the operation theatre and wards in the hospital including the digital beds in the male and female wards.

He said to ensure workability and proper maintenance of equipment in Etinan General Hospital a workshop has been put in place within the hospital premises for the servicing and smooth operation of the facilities.

Udoh who said, Ikono General hospital is also wearing a new look and receiving a new lease of life added that an emergency operation centre has been opened at IDH Ikot Ekpene for quick surgery on patients while ambulances have been provided by government for surveillance around the state capital for prompt responses to traumatic cases.

In the Gender empowerment sector, the Information Boss stated that the Gender-friendly Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel places priority on gender issues, adding that, the Governor does not only run a gender-sensitive government with the appointment of women into the state executive council and other government boards and commissions but is committed to the packaging of programmes towards gender equality and development in the state.

Some of the programmes under Gender empowerment include: the numerous welfare schemes through soft loans, skills acquisition, supply of farming implements and improved seedlings, ICT training and provision of start-up equipment and the involvement of different MDAs in gender-sensitive schemes including; FEYReP, Ministry of Women Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Science and Technology and AKEES, among others.

It could be recalled that, barely few days ago, Akwa Ibom State was also in Abuja to receive the 3 Diamond National Sports Award 2017 for excelling in three categories in the Sports sector.

Uyo Group Canvasses For Murray, Says He's Jinx Breaker

A sociopolitical group in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, under the aegis of Uyo Liberation Mandate, has thrown its weight behind the second term ambition of the member representing Uyo State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Monday Eyo Okon, for the 2019 general election.

The group made up of professionals, egg-heads and various think-tanks from the local government, urged aggrieved aspirants to sheathe their swords and join hands with Hon. Monday and the party's leadership to work for success for the interest of peace in Uyo and the state at large.

In a communique released after their meeting recently in Uyo, members unanimously voted for Murray as the House member is fondly called, to ensure continuity of his quality representation.

Describing him as a jinx breaker, the group disclosed that in the history of Uyo politic, nobody has ever represented the local government for two terms, but Hon Monday will break that barrier.

Some youth leaders in Uyo, Signor Ene (Etoi), and Victor Nyong (Offot) said Hon. Monday is qualified and has the capacity to build Uyo local government in line with the massive infrastructural development of Governor Udom Emmanuel, joining hands to move the state to the next level of industrialisation, job creation and empowerment of the youths who are the future of Akwa Ibom.

Signor said the group had therefore put machinery in motion to vigorously mobilse the people to vote for Murray during the 2019 poll because of his understanding of the vision of Governor Emmanuel for the state.

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has been described as a Model in Sports development based on his near impeccable sports development programmes in the state which have contributed in promoting, upholding, sustaining and protecting the image of Nigeria in the sports sector.
 
The Minister of Youth and Sports, Bar Solomon Dalong stated this recently at Abuja, during the presentation of the 3 Diamond National Sports Award 2017, to Governor Udom Emmanuel in the conference hall of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports headquarters.
 
The Minister who described Akwa Ibom state as a model in sports development in Nigeria, commended the steady and sterling strides of Governor Udom Emmanuel in Sports, which had made the state a proud recipient of the 3 Diamond National Sports Summit Awards 2017, which included: the state with the Most Comprehensive Sport Development Programme in Nigeria 2017; the state with the Best Sports Infrastructure in Nigeria 2017; as well as State with the Most Patriotic Sports Supporters in Nigeria.
 
Making the presentation on behalf of the Sports Minister, the Director Planning, Research and Information of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mrs. Hawa Kulu Akinyemi stated that the awards are in recognition of the very focused and result oriented sports development programme of Akwa Ibom state which are visible in the good results the state is getting in National competitions in Nigeria.
 
The Sports Minister, who described the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium as the way to go in sports facilities, said the support, hospitality, goodwill and kind gesture of Akwa Ibom people made the National team see Uyo as their real home and thanked the State Government for providing the stadium to the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their World Cup qualifiers towards Russia 2018.
 
Receiving the Awards, the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, expressed appreciation to the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sport and indeed the Organizers of the National Sports Awards 2017  for the honour done the State and reiterated his commitment towards the actualization of Sports development programme in the state. 
 
Governor Udom Emmanuel who was represented at the occasion by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Charles Udoh, intimated the audience that Akwa Ibom State in building another world class Sports Stadium with artificial Turf and is also building 10 new Sport Centers in all the 10 Federal constituencies in the state, two of which are completed.
 
Charles Udoh said the emergence of Akwa United FC as last year’s Champions of the Aiteo Cup as well as Ibom Angels as Runners up in the Female event of the Federation Cup 2017, did not by accident, but through the implementation of a well planned and focused Sport development programme by the Governor Udom Emmanuel-led government and commended the Sports Minister for supporting Governor Emmanuel’s sports development programme.
 
The award presentation ceremony was attended by all the Directors in the Federation Ministry of Sports, representatives of some Sports Federations, Sport Stakeholders,   the Media community and a cross section of the public.

One of the leading aspirants in the 2019 election for Nsit Ubium State Constituency, Engr. Don Bassey, has said that award of scholarships to indigent students in secondary and tertiary institutions will be his priority if he wins the race.

The Nsit Ubium born successful entrepreneur - cum politician has also promised to establish a trust fund that would provide interest-free loans to entrepreneurs and ensure infrastructural development in the constituency.

Engr, Bassey who described the incumbent representative of the Constituency in the House as a God fearing, cerebral and efficacious leader, said he would sponsor bills to boost job creation for the youth and women of Nsit Ubium from 2019.

In an interview with newsmen on Friday in Uyo, the State capital, on Friday, the philanthropist stated: “My vision is to establish, within my first 100 days in office, what would be called the Nsit Ubium Endowment Trust Fund Project. This shall be managed by a Board of Trusties to support the State government’s efforts on areas of social welfare, with a no-interest loan facility and infrastructural developments such as library, roads and hospitals.”

He added, “The fund will also be channelled into scholarship grants, Small and Medium Enterprises and other vital needs of the indigent members of the community in my constituency, which shall be supported by all the multinationals and renowned individuals living within my constituency, I shall donate part of my salary into it every month. This is what I've been doing these years and I believe that it is about time I enlarged it to accommodate everyone; young and old including the physically challenged", Engr Bassey stated.

He used the occasion to extol Governor Udom Emmanuel's achievements and developmental projects across the State, saying the State Chief Executive has lived up to the expectations of Akwa Ibom people.

His words: "Currently, we are living in a country where governors are certified authors of excuses of why they are entitled to fail, everyone is eager to celebrate Mr Udom Emmanuel, a proven performer. Everyone is eager to cite His Excellency (Mr Emmanuel) as an example, worthy of recognition and celebration. Everyone is asking the question; where is that Akwa Ibom Governor getting the resources to record all these great feats", he quipped

Engr Bassey however, called on the people of Akwa Ibom State to "give the governor maximum support to completely industrialize the State for the betterment of this generation and those unborn".

Don Bassey, as he is fondly called by friends and associates, was born in the early 80’s. He is one of the most consistent and successful businessmen in Nigeria; an entrepreneur, philanthropist and heavyweight politician. Engr Donald Bassey, a member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers is the CEO of SHADECOVER GROUP; an importer of Polycarbonate and Polyethelene products. He is also the Director of Doris & Baye Petroleum & Gas Ltd and the owner of a number of other businesses across Nigeria.

In the early years, young Donald ran the marketing for his family’s petroleum products before going more into what he's known for today, that is the carport business.

Currently, the tall - soft spoken Don is the second Nigerian after Nsan Ogbe and John Offiong to bring in the carport shade net we mostly call ‘ShadeCover’ today, which is his company's Brand name. He has recently invested in construction business as part of the liberalization of the sector in Nigeria economy.

EARLY LIFE:
Donald Bassey was born in the early 80s into the family of the Engr (Elder) Bassey G. Bassey, a seasoned Engineer and a Retired Permanent Secretary from the Ministry of Environment, Akwa Ibom State and Dr. Mrs. Dora Bassey, a one time Elected Chairman of Nsit Ubium LGA of Akwa Ibom State.
Don went to Calabar Preparatory School, thereafter to Hillside School and finished from Kings & Queens Montessori Nursery / Primary School, Uyo where he obtained his First School Leaving School Certificate.
He later went to Lutheran High School, Obot Idim, Ibesikpo Asutan LGA, where he obtained his Junior School Leaving Certificate and later proceeded to St. Mary’s Science School, Ediene Abak and finished from the Qua Iboe Senior Science College, Ndon Eyo, ONNA LGA where he got his Senior School Leaving Certificate, West African Examination Council Certificate (WAEC) and National Examination Council Certificate (NECO), their set started NECO Examination.

He graduated from the Civil Engineering Department of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State where he bagged the Bachelors Degree in Engineering (B.Eng.).

Since 2007, Don Bassey has made several donations to the Motherless babies’ homes, Leprosy Home and given different scholarships to Students vying for higher education.
He has bought JAMB (Joint Admission Matriculation Board) Forms for student vying for higher education. At least 150 students have benefited from his milk of human kindness in this direction.
Don Bassey has since donated his property in Nsit Ubium to house more than 15 Youth Corps Members that are posted to the area every year. He has donated massively to the ongoing construction of Lutheran University in Obot Idim Ibesikpo. Engr Bassey has sponsored many in different Schools and also donated immensely to the well-being of different institutions in Nigeria.

AKS TO RECEIVE 3 DIAMOND NATIONAL SPORTS AWARD 2017 TODAY

Akwa Ibom State is set to receive 3 Diamond National Sports Award today in Abuja for the sterling and outstanding achievements in the area of Sports.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Charles Udoh who disclosed this said, the Central Coordinating Committee of the Nigerian Sports Summit approved the conferment of the 3 Diamond Award 2017 on Akwa Ibom State.

Charles Udoh enumerated the 3 Diamond Award to include: Most comprehensive Sports Development Programme in Nigeria; State with the Best Sports Infrastructure in Nigeria and State with the most Patriotic Sports Supporters in Nigeria.

Already, the State Information Boss is on a trip enroute Abuja to receive the National Sports Award to be presented by the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports, at the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports, on behalf the government and good people of Akwa Ibom.

While congratulating the Sports-loving Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel and indeed the entire people of the state for this great honour, which to all is well deserving, the Commissioner emphasised that, the award must have been bestowed on the state based on the landmark strides of the state in the area of Sports.

Udoh who said, Akwa Ibom State has assumed the pride of place as the Sports capital of Nigeria, enlisted the achievements of Governor Udom Emmanuel in Sports development to include: hosting of the first Akwa Ibom State Youth Sports festival, hosting of Super Eagles to become the first African team to qualify for the Russia 2018 World Cup and supporting Akwa United to win Nigeria FA Cup twice in 3 years.

Others are ongoing construction of 10 modern sports centres with the one in West Itam secondary school completed and fully in use, supporting Ibom Angels to emerge runners up in 2017 National Sports festival and team Akwa Ibom finishing 2nd on the medal table at the 2017 National Sports festival.

Currently, the Uyo and Eket sports stadia are wearing a new look with the face lift given to the facilities after the delivery of containers of state-of-the-arts sporting equipment ordered by the state government for the uplift of the stadia for optimal use.

All these, coupled with the existing good quality training sports pitches in the state are measures put in place by Governor Udom Emmanuel towards hatching budding football players and athletes among youths and for the overall development of Sports in Akwa Ibom State.

And so, as the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Charles Udoh, steps out for the 3 Diamond National Sports Award on behalf of the government and good people of the state today, we join the teeming sports fan across Nigeria to say hearty Congratulations Akwa Ibom State, ride on to greater successes and heights ahead.

A group of villages in Etoi, Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State have solicited votes for what they termed a ‘Ranking Member’, a legislator on a committee, who belongs to the majority party and by virtue of seniority, ranks first after the committee chairman.

On this note, they have risen in one voice to drum support for the Member representing Uyo State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly (AKHA), Hon. Monday Eyo Okon popularly called Murray, for second term in office come 2019.

They passed the vote of confidence during a general meeting in Ifa Atai on Saturday where all ward leaders in Etoi confirmed their readiness to support the second term ambition of Hon. Monday Eyo.

Setting the tone, political leader in Etoi Ward 5, Hon. Donatus Udoh, noted that Etoi people are not desperate, and that they are ready to support Murray till 2023. He urged the people not to vote for someone who will use and dump them.

On her part, Hon. Rose Archibong stressed that “Zoning is sacrosanct. We need a ranking member. We have checked all the candidates, only Murray is found fit to represent Uyo State Constituency. As soon as his tenure expires in 2023, Etoi will take turns.”

Also speaking, Deacon Martins Sampson, Hon. Imeobong Bassey, Mr Nse Joseph, Obonganwan Justina Effiong (Woman leader), Obong Bassey Edem Akpan, Mr Francis Emmah, Elder Edehekudim Okon Etim, Mrs Grace Edet Jeremiah a.k.a Mma Ediye, and Youth Leader of Itiam Ikot Eba, Mr Andikan, thanked Hon. Monday Eyo for all he has been doing for the people of Uyo, saying: “Since in the history of Uyo politics, there has never been a man like Monday Eyo.

“His doors are always open for everyone to come in. He has concluded plans and all arrangements have been made for his constituency briefing/empowerment ceremony coming up in few weeks where buses and other materials including cash sum of money will be donated to people.

“This has never been in the history of Uyo. We have been voting people into different positions but constituency briefing is alien to us. Amazing this is that Hon. Monday Eyo does not sound his trumpets. He does his things quietly. He deserve a second term to continue his good works.”

The Hon. Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Rt. Hon. Victor Antai, on Thursday donated a new party office to Mbo chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

The Mbo PDP chapter office, according to Hon. Godwin Edet Bassey; the Peoples Democratic Party chapter Chairman, Mbo LGA was before now a dilapidated rented apartment which has been taken over by the landlord.

The newly built and commissioned chapter office is solely financed by the HC. Culture and Tourism, Rt. Hon. Victor Antai to give the party a new phase of breath in the political arena.

The official commissioning of the chapter office was done by the State Chairman of PDP Obong Paul Ekpo, other state executives and all the chapter chairmen in Eket Sen. District as well as The State woman leader, Mrs. Celina Isoktuh; Dr. Chris Abasi Eyo; former Info boss, Hon. Mfon Nkanteen; Obongiwaad Emma Mbong; chapter Chairman Eket, Hon. Eddy Etangkanga; COC. were among notable personalities present to grace the commissioning ceremony.

They also inspected some of the ongoing road construction projects in Oron Federal Constituency.

Their biggest fear is that, you should not know how Governor Udom Emmanuel is doing good in every part of Akwa Ibom State. 


They don't want you to know that Governor Udom Emmanuel has kept faith with his profound promise of Political Inclusion. 


They will not tell you that, Governor Emmanuel has made it an irrevocable obligation to remember the forgotten people and communities in the state with infrastructure. 

Let's take roads first. Subsequently, we will review interventions in other areas. 


How can they tell you that Local Government Areas that have not known road construction in the last ten years or more, now have completed or ongoing road projects. 

In Uyo Federal Constituency, Uruan was the most cheated. Just as Ini and Ikono Council Areas. 


They won't tell you that, the 4.6km School of Arts and Science Road Nung Ukim Ikono has been completed with side drains and is ready for commissioning 


They won't tell you that the 14.1km Ikpe Ikot Nkon - Obot Mme - Arochukwu road in Ini Local Government Area is almost completed and the people of Arochukwu in Abia State have already offered a chieftaincy title to honour Governor Udom Emmanuel in appreciation of the road, which ends at the boundary between the two states. He politely declined. 


They won't tell you that, the Gully Erosion that threatened to completely destroy the major access road linking Ikono and Ini has been arrested by the Udom Emmanuel administration 


They won't tell you that, the 19.3km Anua Mbak Ishiet road in Uruan traversing 7 villages including, Anua, Ifa Ikot Okpon, Mbak, Ikot Otoinye, Ekim Enen, Adadia, and Ishiet is progressing. 


How can they let you know that, the 4.0km Mbiatok - Ekritam - Mbiaya Uruan road, criss crossing Ita Uruan, Ikpa and Mbiakong villages is steadily advancing. 


When they mention the 8.5km Nduetong - Oku Ibiaku Uruan - Ekritam road with spur to Ini Uruan, that passes through the Uyo City Polytechnic to Planet FM 101. 1 premises, they won't tell you that, valuation of property that will be affected by the road is ongoing. 


They won't inform you that, sorting this out to enable compensation payment to owners will eventually get the project on course. 

Oh! These are not the only forgotten communities that have been remembered. Tomorrow, we bring you more from other Federal constituencies.

REFLECTION: SOMETHING TO REMEMBER

31st October; 2016 was a significant day to the people of Ifa Ikot Okpon village in Uyo Local Government Area as the Wife of the Honourable Member representing Uyo State Constituency, Deaconess Joyful Monday Eyo made an unannounced visit to Ifa Ikot Okpon Primary School in response to their prayers.

Until her visit, the Pupils of the School used the floor as their seats and writing desk. This situation the Assembly Man's wife noted was reported to her by one Mr. Ekemini and moved with compassion as a mother, she swung into action.

Deaconess Eyo while at the school to donate school desks for a 150 pupils noted that this was in tandem with the Dakkada philosophy of His Excellency, the Excutive Governor of the State; Deacon Udom Emmanuel to ensure that we rise to the faith of greatness and rise from obscurity.

Speaker after speaker eulogised the Assembly Man, Hon. Monday Eyo ( Murray ) for his representation and urged him on to do more. Prominent among the guests were the Wife of the Transition Chairman, Village Head and his council, PTA chairman, Political leaders, etc.
Responding, the Head Mistress appreciated the benevolence and prayed God's continued blessing on the family of the House of Assembly member.

We are indeed thankful to the Governor and his extremely supportive wife, Deaconess Martha Udom Emmanuel for visionary leadership especially in this trying times.

Akwa Ibom State Government has released two dedicated Accounts in Zenith and First Bank for voluntary donations by Non Profit organizations, Religious Bodies and public spirited individuals across the world that have heeded the call to contribute towards the building of the state 8500 capacity International Worship Centre.

In a Release titled “Let’s build for the Lord”, a befitting place of worship, and made available to the media, the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Charles Udoh, disclosed the Zenith Bank Account Number as 1015488911 while that of the First Bank is 2032802382.

The Information Commissioner urged all organizations and individuals willing to “Sow a Seed” in the International Worship centre to pay into those two dedicated accounts while those with material contributions can contact the Special Assistant to the Governor on Religious Matters, Rev. Daniel Akwatang for further enquiry through phone No. +234 803 427 1585.

Earlier in the day while on two separate Live AKBC TV Programmes, “Ntiantia Asaka” and “Centre Points”, Ibibio and English programmes respectively, Charles Udoh had urged all to heed the call of Governor Udom Emmanuel to contribute towards the building of the Worship Centre for God in gratitude to God’s benevolence to the state as an entity and the people of the State in general.

He said the worship centre which will have smaller Chapels within the complex, will enable religious groups with no erected structure of their own to utilize the service of those chapels rather than use public schools and cause damage to furniture and facilities in such affected institutions.

The Information Boss emphasized that, all donations and contributions    will be duly acknowledged and catalogued for posterity adding that, the International Worship Centre will also serve as a tourist centre to boost religious tourism in the State.

Seeing is believing!!!

Today in company of the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy and a cross section of journalists, we toured two key projects of the Udom Emmanuel Adminstration.

First port of call was the Jubilee Syringe Manufacturing Company In Onna.

The magnificent facility which covers 8000m2 of indoor space and 42000m2 of outdoor space is a product of a Public Private Partnership arrangement was saturated with activity as the GM of the company took us round the various departments. The facility which was commissioned by the Vice President on the 23rd of September 2017 has a daily production capacity of more than 1million syringes. We saw production, packaging and sterilization happening live.

Some of the indigenous staff working have been trained in Turkey and more will be trained. Its worthy of note that the quality of the syringes produced in the factory surpass all syringes produced abroad. The factory which is the largest in Africa is currently at the test running stage and employs about 70 persons. It will employ a lot more when it operates at full capacity soonest. Additional employment opportunities will also be created through distributorship opportunities and smart Akwa Ibomites are enjoined to take advantage.

90% of the employees are Akwa Ibomites and more skilled workers are needed.

The syringes have a ready market with patronage and partnership also coming from outside the country.

This is a product of the strategic and visionary leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel and this mode of development obtains the world over.

In an empowerment programme yesterday, 8th January 2018, the good people of Eastern Nsit Ward 9, Nsit Atai Local Government Area unanimously endorsed Hon. Elder Hon. Mark Esset to contest for a second term as the member representing Nsit Atai in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.



The event took place at the Community School Hall Ibekang, Nsit Atai had in attendance women, youths and political class from all divide.



Moving for an endorsement and vote of confidence on the Rt. Hon (Elder) Mark Esset the Ward woman leader Mrs. Eno Akpan Thomas described him as a man who loves his people and is representing his constituents with dexterity.



Also Hon. Etim Mfon the immediate past Committee member spoke glowingly of the effective representation of the lawmaker. The call for endorsement was seconded by the councillor representing the Ward, Hon. Emmanuel Etuk and the entire people of Eastern Nsit Ward 9.



Hon. Esset while speaking thanked the people for their support to him, Governor Udom Emmanuel and promised to continue in his representation as he is only holding in trust their mandate.



Highpoint of the event was presentation of Empowerment fund to selected constituents, wrapper to the women and several other items.

Reading through the article by Aniekeme Finbarr, a Personal Assistant on Media to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, one is left wondering whether he means well for the Governor or is an agent provocateur on a mission to destroy the good relationship presently existing between the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio and the Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel.

Looking at it on its face value and for whatever it is worth what Mr Finbarr sought to do is to reply Senator Akpabio that contrary to what the Senator had said, indeed the concerns by the elders, youths, women, leadership and the entire people of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District is misplaced. It's like telling Senator Akpabio, "shut up sir."
According to media report, Senator Akpabio is quoted to have said “2018 is less than one year to election, all is not well, don’t allow anybody to deceive you that all is well." By countering with this infamous write up that all is well, Mr Finbarr is directly responding to Senator Akpabio. Tellingly, one government sponsored blog puts it succinctly " Udom's aide replies Akpabio: All is well in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District."

Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District is one constituency that has stood by the Governor through thick and thin. This is not just because the zone is being led by Senator Akpabio who against all odds supported Mr Emmanuel and stood by him to be his successor. Ever since then Senator Akpabio and indeed the people of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District have stood by and supported the Governor. Even political analyst believe that Ikot Ekpene is one zone that the Governor is almost guaranteed a block vote. Through the youths and elders the zone have pledged to support the Governor in his second term bid.

Coming at a time that there has been some form of rapprochement among the elders and the areas of concern being addressed, Mr Finbarr's article is at best provocative and indeed a serious threat to the peace building effort. If unchecked, it has the potential of further alienating the people of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District from the administration of Mr Udom Emmanuel.

Some form of excitement comes with writing an article for public consumption especially writing on issues of public interest. But it is the taming of such exuberance especially when one is a spokesperson of the government that defines maturity. By stoking the fire and outrightly insulting Senator Akpabio, the Personal Assistant to the Governor on Media, Mr Aniekeme Finbarr exhibited none of such.

One of the issues of concern was the seeming abandonment of the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Ikot Ekpene. On January 13, 2017, the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Special Duties Mr Akan Okon along with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Mrs Valerie Obot had led journalists on a two hours eight minutes (according to media reports) tour of the fully furnished hotel complex. The Commissioner threw the doors of the hotel open for every doubting Thomas to see that what needed to be done was dotting of the i's and crossing of the t's for the hotel to be functional and indeed promised that by year end the hotel will be operational. At a meeting with Senator Akpabio with youths of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District on new year day the youths expressed concern that the hotel was still not functional as promised by the government, a concern the Senator accepted to address with the Governor. This is what Mr Finbarr is asking Senator Akpabio to shut up. Mr Finbarr may do well to post pictures on the state of the roads in the Senatorial District which he listed as being under construction, a concern the people told Senator Akpabio that nothing much seems to be happening in the zone, a vote basket of the Governor.

In another meeting the elders of the Senatorial District had with their leader they equally expressed concerns that the Uyo - Ikot Ekpene road was yet to receive the attention of the state government. It is a known fact that his predecessor, Obong Victor Attah never supported Chief Akpabio to succeed him. But the ways of God are not the ways of man. As God would have it, Chief Akpabio succeeded Obong Attah. Remarkably, one of the most beautiful roads (dualized and complete with the most modern street lights) ever done in Akwa Ibom State by the Akpabio administration leads to Obong Attah's house. Even if Senator Akpabio did not support Mr Emmanuel the uncompleted section of the Ikot Ekpene road is in Akwa Ibom State and the people demanded to know from Senator Akpabio when the road would receive the attention of the state government just like other roads in the state. And I think the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District stakeholders who met with Governor Emmanuel on January 4, 2018 were quite satisfied with his explanations and efforts. But not so with an overzealous media aide who wants to stoke fire against his boss by insulting the leader of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District and inciting the people against the Governor.

Many other issues were raised and the Governor promised to address them. This is as it should be. Senator Akpabio has said several times that his people will support Mr. Udom Emmanuel not only to succeed but in his bid for a second term. He has championed several motions at different fora to adopt the Governor for a second term even as recent as the meeting with the youths of the Senatorial District on new year day.

Writing a highly inflammatory article by a media aide to the Governor to spite and diminish the Senate Minority Leader is most unfortunate and most unhelpful even to the government that he defends.

One of the striking and kenspeckle features of the Udom Emmanuel led administration in Akwa Ibom State is the uncanny disposition to even distribution of projects in the state. Every senatorial district, federal constituency, local government, ward and family has a testimony or two to attest to in this era of superior performance. Since 2015, life touching projects in the state have been clearly and equitably prioritized irrespective of geographical slants, ethnic zones or tribal algebra.

Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District like her two other sister districts have richly benefitted from the midas touch of the economic tsar at the helm of affairs in the state. Navigating through a turbulent national economic climate and depressing economic recession with tangible results is indeed no mean feat, even for the most intelligent leader. There have indeed been eye-catching fruits of good governance for the people of Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District.

In infrastructure, Governor Emmanuel has impacted very positively in the geopolitical axis. The 6.41km Nto Edino Ekwereazu road with two 45 metres span bridges had since been commissioned. The project had looked like an impossibility given its swampy terrain and impenetrable topography. Today, indigenous contractor, Seyang Limited, led by son of the soil Engr Samuel Inyang has made the success story a matter of history. The 4.6km College of Arts and Science road, Nung Ukim in Ikono LGA has also been completed. Handled by Hensek Integrated Services, the road is tastily finished with side and outfall drains.

That's not all, work has advanced greatly on the 14.1km Odoro Ikpe-Ikpe Ikot Nkon-Obotme-Arochukwu road with 110km bridge in Ini LGA. The project is executed through the Alternative Project Funding Approach (APFA) and indeed Peculiar Concerns limited is doing a great job. Work is also ongoing on the 23.25km Ikot Ekaide-Ikot Okoro-Ikot Ibritam road in Oruk Anam LGA under APFA plus the 18.95km Ikot Ibritam-Ekeffe-Ikot Akpan Afaha road with a bridge also in Oruk Anam and Ukanafun LGAs. To consolidate road infrastructure in the axis, Governor Udom Emmanuel is also constructing the Abak-Nsekhe-Ikot AkpaNkuk-Ikot Etim-Ikot Ikara(Phase 3, Section A), ie Ikot Ikara to Ikot Ibritam.

5.1 km length of internal roads are wearing a new look at the Akwa Ibom State University, Obio Akpa, handled by JP Sigma, not forgetting the 4.95km Ibesit Okpokoro/Ikot Ibritam roads. Governor Udom Emmanuel is currently dualizing 25 kilometres of the Uyo-Ikot Ekpene road handled by Julius Berger. After several months of contending with court cases and issues arising from payment of compensation, the project is alive and advancing in speed. The total length of the Uyo-Ikot Ekpene road is 50kms and crosses Uyo, Itu, Ibiono, Ikono, Essien Udim, and Ikot Ekpene LGAs.

To ensure the economic viability of the district, Governor Udom Emmanuel is committing billions of naira into the 14th storey Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, located in the raffia city of Ikot Ekpene. The facility, which has a total of 146 guest rooms, banquet halls, meeting rooms, spa, indoor and outdoor restaurants, swimming pool, tennis courts, club lounges, roof terraces, fitness centres,etc will strenghten the hospitality sector in Akwa Ibom State.

On May 23,2017, Model Girls Secondary School, Ikot Ekan, Abak was added to the number of schools in Akwa Ibom State. His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel commissioned the school, and gave assurance that, the school will commence admissions for full academic operations with boarding facilities. The school had since commenced in September 2017. Governor Emmanuel’s burning passion for education and bequeathing quality learning in the sector, inspired him to pick up the school, which was hitherto overtaken by weeds and reptiles to complete, after the natives of Ikot Ekang, drew government’s attention to the project. Currently, the school has administrative blocks, first class boarding facilities, including 240 beds, a dining hall with 400 chairs and ten class rooms.

Government’s intervention in the education sector has also extended to the tertiary institutions. At the Akwa Ibom State University, Obio Akpa campus of the University, six major projects have been commissioned by the governor. They include a digital language library, a commercial farm palm oil mill, a commercial farm feeds mill, vegetable screen house, ultra modern Mass Communication studios and a standard performance arts theatre.

Schools in Ikot Ekpene senatorial district are part of the 1401 public primary, secondary and technical schools and four tertiary institutions in the state receiving great attention. In addition to setting up ICT laboratories in some of the public and private schools in the state, Governor Emmanuel has not wavered in funding the free and compulsory education programme, which gives every child of school age resident in Akwa Ibom, regardless of state of origin, access to qualitative education from primary to senior secondary school level.

Final year secondary school students in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District are not constrained by lack of money as the government undertakes payment of WASSCE fees for all students in public secondary schools. This also includes payment of NABTEB fees for all students running into hundreds of millions of Naira.

Healthcare delivery in the North West zone of the state is smooth. The General Hospital in Ikono today wears a new look as Governor Udom Emmanuel continues to revolutionize primary and secondary health care facilities in the state.

Agriculture in the zone is receiving a firm attention with increased investment in the cultivation of cocoa and the rice fields in Ini LGA. Farmers in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial zone would not count fertilizer as one of their problems from May this year, as the State’s automated fertilizer blending plant will come on stream. The fertilizer plant is sited in Abak Local Government Area after a formidable team of extension workers was formed to get feedback on challenges and needs of farmers through their various zones and cells.

Power in Akwa Ibom State has tremendously improved with the increased generation of power by Ibom Power Company and the building of injector sub-stations across the state. Ikot Ekpene Senatorial zone will also get theirs as construction and installation is ongoing to boost agriculture and small scale industries.

Through the pet project of Her Excellency, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel, lives are being touched, innumerable to count. One unique example is that of Mr Uwem Nnah of Ikot Udoe in Ikot Ekpene LGA, a widower with five children. Nnah's story is heart rending as he was subjected to all forms of abuse and dejections coupled with the harsh economic climate. Today, he is a proud owner of a well furnished two bedroom bungalow. Mrs Glory Obot of Obot Akara, Mrs Inemesit Emmanuel Charles of Oruk Anam and several others have been blessed with new and well furnished homes. This does not exclude free medical outreach in the three senatorial districts of the state, interest free loans, business support grants to market men and women, empowering the girl child for self reliance and change

Space would not allow to enumerate what Governor Udom Emmanuel and wife are doing for the women, the homeless, weak and vulnerable. But, it is trite that the state government runs eight homes with over 700 children in its care.

Even in politics, Governor Udom Emmanuel has found in sons and daughters of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district the capacity and trust to work with in the journey to growth and development. This is in line with his political inclusion agenda and a means to reach out to the citizens, empower and touch lives. Notably are the Deputy Governor, Mr Moses Ekpo, MFR, Secretary to the State Government, Sir Etekamba Umoren, Barr Uwemedimo Nwoko, Attorney-General/Commissioner Ministry of Justice, Professor Victor Inoka , Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Education, Prof Nse Udo Essien on. Commissioner, Ministry of Science & Technology, Dr Glory Emmanuel Edet, Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mr Monday Ebong Uko, Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Youths & Sports, Mr Ibanga Akpabio, Ministry of Labour, Productivity and Manpower Planning, Mrs Ekemini David Umoh, Special Adviser, Bureau of Rural Development & Cooperative. There are several others on different boards and commissions, agencies, technical committees, departments and units, all serving as aides and interpreting the superior performance agenda. For his special love for the people of the zone, he stood with the National Legal Adviser of the PDP, Barr Emmanuel Enoidem and ensured that he got elected at the just concluded National Convention of the party.

There are obviously expectations but the passion on the part of leadership is right. Governor Udom Emmanuel has displayed sufficient honesty and commitment to deliver good governance, even in the face of dwindling resources and increasing demands. Like the songwriter, the people of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District have declared faith in the capacity and savvy of Mr Udom Emmanuel, their son and in-law to get the job done and move the zone further. They have said it is well. Once the passion is Right, nothing is impossible!

Gov Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has been declared as Pioneer Newspaper Man/Governor of the Year 2017.

The declaration which came after a two-day deliberation by an extended committee of media professionals across the South South region of the country, put together by the management of Akwa Ibom Newspaper Corporation (AKNC) - publishers of Pioneer Group of Newspapers has so adjudged the Governor, considering the region-national impact of his industrialization ingenuity which is bound to change the face and story of the South-South region and the country at large by 2018.

The Pioneer newspaper, established about 30 years ago by the Akwa Ibom State government during the administration of Col Tunde Ogbeha, in adjudging Gov. Emmanuel as the Man/Gov of the Year 2017, is of the resolve that the Governor, besides being the 2nd Governor, according to the National Bureau of Statistics, to attract the most foreign investment into the country and making Akwa Ibom State the 2nd most preferred investment destination in Nigeria in the year 2017, is also the first Governor to establish in the country, within the last two years of the present democratic dispensation, a far reaching and first ever Syringe and digital electric meter manufacturing companies in Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria.

Recalling that the World Bank’s Country Director, during the year 2017, had adjudged Akwa Ibom State as the Best Business Environment in Nigeria; as well as the Vice President Yemi Osinbanjo’s remarks that the Syringe and Electric Metering Company built by Governor Emmanuel will be the nation’s economic “game changers”; the award committee under the chairmanship of Mr Umoette Umoette, the General Manager/Editor-in-Chief of The Pioneer newspaper maintains that the 400 million capacity production of the Syringe Manufacturing Company is a huge feat, as the capacity is three times more than the only other existing Syringe Manufacturing Company in Africa which is located in South Africa.

According to the committee, the rippling and positive effect of the Syringe and Electric Metering Manufacturing Companies alone on the economy of the nation can only be left to the people’s imagination, considering the employment, business and revenue opportunities these companies are bringing to the nations table.

The committee also scored the Governor highly for the recent acquisition of Diapact CRRT Machine for critically ill kidney patients, and the 7th of its kind in Nigeria; as well as the development of the Ibom Deep Seaport which shall be the only seaport to be developed on a natural harbor.

Also on the Governor’s score card, amidst his various other human capacity investment, infrastructural and agricultural revolution in Akwa Ibom State, is his regular payment of salary/pension, despite the paucity of fund during the recession, as this has put him ahead of others.

The committee which also looked into the Governor 's
relationship with the presidency noted remarkably, the choice of the Governor to accompany President Buhari to the EU-AU Summit held towards the end of last year in Abidjan, as well as the selection of the Governor to go visit President Buhari during the President 's medical sojourn in London last year.

Every Akwa Ibom person is now familiar with his chorus.

These days, once he sets his foot in Akwa Ibom State and drops his bag, the first place he would head to would be  a radio station – PlanetFM, most preferably to repeat his familiar chorus “Akwa Ibom, people, what is the Government spending your money on?”

His younger colleague in the law profession, Barr Inibehe Effiong was perhaps the first to come out publicly to call Ita Enang with the name befitting of him – A shameless, selfish (former) lawmaker who is driven by his stomach.

In an article, Inibehe Effiong had echoed the consensus opinion of millions of Akwa Ibom people on the hypocrisy that defines Ita Enang’s political commentaries when he wrote elaborately on Sahara Reporters that:“….Ita Enang is a very selfish, unprincipled and greedy politician…Enang had practically mortgaged the rights of those he was elected to represent for personal political aggrandizement. What a wicked, hypocritical and shameful cacophony of an expired politician! Our people are no fools; they know that his vituperations are self-centered and utterly frivolous. We cannot carry placards for him because he was never, he is not, and will he will never be our hero. Let him suffer the afflictions brought on him by the ghost of stewardship alone.  As a proud indigene of Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State that Ita Enang has been "representing" since 1999, I know how unpopular he is. Ita Enang is known and celebrated in Abuja but hated at home. He has never won in a free and fair election. Effective representation is more than speaking fanciful and seductive English in Abuja; it encompasses defending the interests of the constituents.  Ita Enang is claiming that he has given out scholarships to his constituents and that he will never be tempted to publish names of the beneficiaries. But that is a big lie. Throughout my university days in the Faculty of Law, University of Uyo, I never heard of any such scholarships. I did not just passed through the university, the university passed through me. So there is no way such scholarship scheme would have existed for students of my constituency that Ita Enang has been "representing" for the past 15 years without my knowledge. Ita Enang is completely out of touch with his constituents. He should first account for the huge constituency allowances he has received since 1999 as a National Assembly member.”

For a lawyer of Sen Ita Enang’s standing, it is rather shocking to hear him sound like a broken record on the issue of Akwa Ibom State finances.

It is common knowledge that the Governor Udom Emmanuel-led administration had published the approved budget for the year 2017 on the state’s website  where it can be accessed from anywhere in the world.

Funds accruing to Akwa Ibom State as monthly allocation from the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) are published on National Dailies and on the website of the Federal Ministry of Finance.

Unlike other states in the Federation, The Governor Udom Emmanuel administration is not failing in its primary responsibility of workers welfare through prompt payment of salaries and other entitlements. The administration is investing heavily on building new infrastructure and revamping old ones. On the flank of industrialization which was one of the agendas of the present administration, there has been an inflow of investors to the state. Turbines of new industries are currently running.

I am sure that Ita Enang knows all these  and is secretly impressed with the trajectory of development in Akwa Ibom under the Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration.

Sadly, since his soul is connected to his stomach, he owes himself a duty to ensure that he fights for his stomach; even if it means telling outright lies and whipping false sentiments to do so.

This is the same Ita Enang who genuinely endorsed Mr Udom Emmanuel as Governorship candidate on Saturday 8th November 2014 under the selfish hope that endorsement will cause him to be favoured by members of his party then - the PDP to return for a Second term as Senator. For Ita Enang, his loyalty is to his stomach first before anyone else around him. His mantra seems to be “As long as it is connected to my daily bread, going out of my way to get it or keep it, can never be a wrong move!”

For a former lawmaker at the National Assembly who never held constituency briefings or executed a single constituency project, one would have thought that Ita Enang would be silent and learn from the likes of Senator Godswill Akpabio and Bassey Albert who are charting newer courses in putting funds they have received for constituency projects into good use. One would have also thought that he would be moving around with deep regrets on how he enriched himself from the funds meant for the people who graciously gave him a mandate to serve.

But the hypocritical and Shameless Ita Enang (to borrow the words of Barr Inibehe Effiong) would not do any of that. He would prefer to jump at any chance to insult the sensibilities of Akwa Ibom people by denigrating the Public office holders in Akwa Ibom who are making efforts at fulfilling their leadership obligations to the people, as a way of distracting them.

From the anger he displays when he goes about to say the things he says, could it be that Ita Enang most times silently wishes that these selfless Akwa Ibom leaders were not making efforts to stay accountable to the people by fulfilling their electioneering promises to them?  Is the misery he is feeling through his selfish act of profiteering from constituency funds when he served as a National Assembly lawmaker in need of company?  

If yes, how come this misery has not disconnected his soul from his stomach? Will he survive this disconnection if it were to happen?

Our attention has been drawn to the story with the above caption that appeared in The Premium Times dated December 14, 2017, and written by Cletus Ukong. In the said story, Mr. Essien Ndueso who is a Personal Assistant to His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel on Media was quoted to have posted on his Facebook Wall, that today “we are in an administration that cows fare better than human beings”- an ill-conceived and obtuse comment on the recent visit by His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari(GCON) to his farm in Daura, Katsina State.

We wish to use this opportunity to state categorically that the comment expressed by Mr. Essien Ndueso does not represent in any form, shape, manner or appearance the views of the Government and the good people of Akwa IbomState. The comments attributed to Mr. Nduesotherefore, are his PERSONAL opinion. Even though the nation is going through tough and challenging economic times, we believe and trust the resilience of Nigerians, our ingenuity and innate  capacity to reinvent the wheels, and together, in spite of our political differences, we  remain inexorably tied to our common destiny which requires all  hands on the deck to move our dear nation forward. We hereby, totally and unreservedly disassociate ourselves from the referenced comment.

The Governor and indeed the entire Government of Akwa Ibom State hold President Buhari who indeed is the Father of the Nation in the highest of esteem, and the two Leaders enjoy close and cordial relationship that goes beyond political labels and afflictions.

Former Women Affair/Education Commissioner, Mrs. Eunice Thomas who is the leader of the 'Bridge Band' named after the bridge of no return in Ikot Abasi, Beach Town Band, named after longest beach coast line in West Africa, Ibeno Beach is led by Mr. Edmund Ufang, Chief Protocol Officer to the Governor.
Plaza Band named after Ibom Plaza is led by Prince Enobong Uwah, Blue River Band named after the Ukanafun Blue River is led by Sir. Emem Akpabio, Rolling Hills Band, named after the rolling hills of ITU is headed by Senator Bassey Albert, OBA.
