Please I recently applied to an healthcare assistant position, as listed on the UK Register of Licensed Sponsors. I noticed that part of the application process includes a £200 fee for background checks and credentials verification, which I am willing to cover.

However, I received an email stating that I have been shortlisted and was asked to make the payment to a Nigerian bank account with a computer center as the beneficiary. I found this unusual and wanted to confirm if this is a legitimate step in the recruitment process.

This smell of scam. The following are the red flags I observed.

1. Payment into Nigerian Bank account, are you going to pay Pounds or Naira.
2. Account Name is a business center
3. Bank Name is Moniepoint.
4. lastly, the HR personnel is a PhD Holder. so, a PhD holder will leave the academics in UK and be a HR Manager.
