Jobs/Vacancies / The Delima Of An Unemployed Graduate In Dire Need Of Opportunity by Albara(m): 2:40pm On Sep 16, 2022 |
Life they say is full of mystery. To some, it works out quite well, for others; not so well. I am an unemployed graduate who is shackeled in between unemployment and taking care of ever growing responsibilities. I acknowledge the divergence in character and opinions of folks in this heterogenous forum and I uderstand that some of you are weary of such epistles of this proportion. Thus, I apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and I brace up for any forthcoming criticism. Not to take much of your time, here is my delima. My name is Albara, I am thirty one years old, a resident in Minna Niger State. I am a graduate of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, Niger State with Bsc. (second class upper) in Political Science. I come from a family of six, I'm the fifith child and the eldest male child in the family. My mum (God bless her) is a primary school teacher who dwells on a 50k salary to take care of her children. Since the demise of my father twenty one years ago, I have been constantly reminded that being the eldest male of the family, there are responsibilities that abounds me in the future. The future responsibilities of taking care of my siblings, my mom and also the saddled responsibility of making the easy and hard choices on behalf of the family will one day rest largely on my shoulder. That inevitable future is now. I now find myself clutched in the firm grip of unemployment, depression and a horrifying thoughts of "survival", or in other words, "making ends meets" by any means neccessary in order to take care of the responsibility weighing heavy on my shoulder. During my undergraduate years, I worked part time jobs as sales attendant, upervisor and manager for small business outlets in Minna during holidays. I somtimes work on construction sites just to keep up with tuition fees, lodge rent, feeding and other day to day responsibilities. Later in my year three, with a loan of 50k my mum took from the teachers endwell scheme, I started an Agric produce trading business (mostly Rice, Beans, Egusi, Maize, Yam, Bene seeds, Onions and anything that has market value at that time) while in school. My lectures mostly ends on wednesdays and I find myself with Thursday through to Saturday as my free days which I took advantage of and go to near by Village markets and buy these commodities at a cheap price and sell them in Minna, Suleja and Abuja at a higher price. Covid-19 lockdown and ASUU strike also turned out to be an added advantage for me. I started making good money, paid off the loan, took care of bills with little headache, and even send money home on occassions. My luck with the bussiness went sour around August 2021, when Covid-19 lockdown was still in effect and onion was in high demand. There was a guy whom I got to know through a friend and a business associate. He's a driver who transports goods from Kebbi and Sokoto states for his customers. We started dealing with him. With the help of friends in Sokoto, we'll send money to them and they'll buy onions in bags from Sokoto or Kebbi States and send it through the driver to us and we'll sell them in Niger State or Abuja. Soon, our friends in Sokoto left Sokoto in search of their own opportunities and we started dealing with the driver directly. Since we've done business with him multiple times, we trusted him anyways. Plus, we knew his house and his family. The driver adviced us to buy in bulk and supply them to local retailers, the profit will be bigger. It was a good idea for us. We made neccessarry arrangements for expansion of the business and we almost emptied our accounts and gave it to the driver to purchase the onnions for us. we both gave the driver two hundred thousand naira each, an equivelent amount of four hundred thousand naira. Permit me to speak pidgin English here. Na so this driver tuama with our money o. We tried to reach to him, all to no avail. We went to his house only to learn from his wife that he left Nigeria to Niger Republic and left her with two kids without any means of taking care of the kids. He only calls her with random numbers when he feels the need to. That in itself wrecked me. I was dealing with school project and also dealing with the trauma. To rub salt on my wounds, the ASUU strike and Covid lockdown wasted a year for me and I had to graduate at the age of thirty which officially made me ineligible for NYSC. NYSC was the card I desperately wanted to use and raise up funds and start a business. Now that card is out of the equation. Since then, I've been howling around, looking for jobs but no luck. I have really tried to keep up. With the biting inflation, watching my mum struggle everyday to feed us, the bullies and social pressure is really driving me nuts. Ideologically, I was once an optimist, now am such a passimist. No one wants to help, not family (my uncles from both parents), friends, or the strangers. I always believe in makinng ends meet the legititmate way, there has always gotta be a way without going in to illegality. But now, I am living on a thin line between good and bad. I'm really thinking of going in to illegal way to make ends meet. I really don't want to but my chances of go it the right way keeps growing thinner. I am the type that don't really know how to beg, how to bring up my problems to others in the bid to garner pity or favor, but I have read how some folks who are brave enough to share their stories here and with luck, some able nairalanders offer assistance. that enboldened me to write my piece here. I am not asking of money in anyway, I am asking for opportunity to work and earn. Please, anyone with the ability to offer me a job in any part of the country, I am willing to take it up. I am a graduate with BSc. (second class upper) in Political Science, I am proficient in English and Hausa languages, I have excellent communication skills, good analytic skills to solve complex tasks, a quick learner and can adapt to any working condition. Furthermore, I am proficient with MicroSoft office suit, Mid-level front-end web developer (HTML5 and CSS), research writing, familiar with copywriting and content writing (although I have not taken proffessional courses on them). Not that it will make any relevance to the issue at hand, it is partinent to note that I am Christian by religion. Anyone with the interest to offer me a job opportunity, you can reach me on 08024985649 or e-mail me on attahirusamaila3@gmail.com. Thank you and remain blessed. Mods, for the sake of humanity, take this to the fron page, you could be saving a life. 2 Likes |

Mjpem23: My assertion was made based on the topic. Cubana chief priest is a young fella thus, I cursored my assertion towards the young ones. Just because I didn't mention the old ones in my assertion automatically mean I exempted them, they (at most) are very much corrupt in all ramification. And yeah, there some who made their fortunes legally, so I disagree with your narrative that intertwined the acquisition of riches and illegality. Have a good day sire! |

All man is a product of his own society, if man is comfortable in commiting crime, then the society directly or indirectly influenced it. To think that ritualism, drug pushing, banditry and kidnapping, armed robbery, online/offline scamming, drug abuse, monumental abuse of constitutional powers by men/women in government, corruption and a lot more thrives in Nigeria, then perhaps the Nigerian society is a corrupt and fast one and Nigerians deserve what they get coming their way. Crime / Scam In Nigerian Custom Service Replacement/recruitment. Photo by Albara(m): 1:40pm On Apr 03, 2022 |
I got a call from my sister today about a man who introduced himself as Ibrahim from Nigerian Custom Service insinuating that he knew her way back and there's an opening for replacement in NCS. She lamented that she can't remember where she knew him from and he laughed it off and insisted he just want to help because he was given two slots in NCS and he doesn't really have anyone to give it out to. Fast forward, my sister forwarded his number to me and my brother in-law and also forwarded our phone numbers to him and further asked us to call the man. Although my sis was skeptical about the whole issue, she just said it won't kill to try it out. So, I called the man and we spoke, he enquired if I have ever applied for NCS, if I have criminal record with any of the Nigerian security apparatus and if I'm a drug addict of which I affirmed to him that I don't have such background records. Then he warned that it's about trust issues and I shouldn't go about telling people about the opportunity he's giving me. He explained that the NCS is replacing the dismissed personnels and recruits that applied with forged results and those that were not physically fit for enrollment and now he's got two slots and he's giving me one. He sent me a text about the details I need to send to him at the moment and call him back when I'm done. I forwarded him the details and called him back like he instructed, then he told me to go back and check my mail, I'll receive a mail from NCS confirming my shortlisting and service number. I checked and voila, it read I'm shortlisted in to NCS and also got my service number. Then I called him back again, and told him I got the message, he congratulated me. Then came the part where I had to send money for regularization and documentation to his boss, all of which is 25k. I got curious about the whole thing. To me, this is too fast, too good to be true. I decided to check the mail address of the supposed NCS email address I got the shortlisting message from. The mail address read ncs.gov.info.ng@gmail.com. The address looked suspecious to me because most government parastatals and agencies always use dormain that ends with .gov.ng, but his domain ended with @gmail.com. I got more curious and googled NCS official website and email and it wasn't the same, I called a friend who is currently in training camp of the NCS at Kano and explained the whole thing, he said it's a scam and they had such cases in camp where people were scammed only to report to camp and realize they've been scammed. He lamented how a guy was scammed to 3 million only to come to training camp and realize he was scammed. He was even given appointment letter and service number. I called another friend in NCS who serves in Port Harcourt and he confirmed it's a scam. The worrying part is that, the said Ibrahim has good knowledge about the recruitment process, spoke fluent Hausa and English. The whole thing was well planned and if you're not careful enough, you'll end up being scammed. God knows how many people fell victims today. I'm sharing this here so that no one falls a victim here. I attached the photos mail I got and his phone number.

godofuck231: Really I kept wondering how lucky we all were in the house! That snake was so close to the exit door that most of us use. The boys that came to fetch water passed through there and the snake was there but didn't strike till the last one noticed it. The whole scenario could have turned out differently |

Beautiful Sunday for Lala! I have killed and delivered his favorite food! Was in my room doing my shii when some boys that came to fetch water in my compound called to my attention about the snake hanging on a moringa plant around the exit door at the back! That snake was literally on that plant arms away from the shoulder n neck and those boys passed without noticing it till the last one saw it. I came out to check what was going on with a shovel in my hand and lo and behold, one amongst the lala clan is right in my compound. I made some Jet-li moves (with lotta fear in me mimd ) but thy son of the soil pleased his ancestors by killing the serpent! To the animal activists in the house, I care not what you gon say. If I see a thousand snakes and have the ability to kill em all, I will. That creature gives me the creeps. I literally have a phobia towards em. Anyways, anyone has the idea about the name of this snake 1 Share

iboboyswag: Thank you so much for taking your time to read my posts. I did made some background checks on the substance he abused, all I got were he only did weed and cigarettes. However, I still hold my doubts because as I was meant to understand, weed doesn't make someone go mad. Your advice on seeking help here and also open a gofundme account is strongly considered because as it stads, things are hard. My dada passed on since 2002 and my mum is a teacher that works in a local government here while I just got fresh out of school with no job and just started learning web development and strongly considering to start learning digital marketing too. I was reluctant to seek help here because of the proliferation of online scammers but your advice encouraged me. I'll try to get his admission documents and a recent photograph of him as proof and start a gofundme immediately. Please when I do that, your support to push the gofundme forward will be much appreciated. Thank you and God bless. 1 Like |
